  • How can I use CssResources in UiBinder a generated Cell?

    - by confile
I want to generate a Cell for a CellWidget with the UiBinder (UiRenderer). What I did to generate the cell is in MyCell.java: public class MyCell implements AbstractCell<MyDto> { public interface Resources extends ClientBundle { @Source({Css.DEFAULT_CSS }) Css css(); } public interface Css extends CssResource { String DEFAULT_CSS = "test/MyStyle.css"; String test(); } interface MyUiRenderer extends UiRenderer { void render(SafeHtmlBuilder sb, String name, SafeStyles styles); } private static MyUiRenderer renderer = GWT.create(MyUiRenderer.class); Resources resources = GWT.create(Resources.class); @Override public void render(SafeHtmlBuilder safeHtmlBuilder, MyDto model) { SafeStyles style = SafeStylesUtils.fromTrustedString(resources.css().test().toString()); renderer.render(safeHtmlBuilder, model.getName(), style); } } My MyCell.ui.xml file looks like this: <!DOCTYPE ui:UiBinder SYSTEM "http://dl.google.com/gwt/DTD/xhtml.ent"> <ui:UiBinder xmlns:ui='urn:ui:com.google.gwt.uibinder'> <ui:with field="name" type="java.lang.String" /> <ui:with field='styles' type='com.google.gwt.safecss.shared.SafeStyles'/> <div style="{styles}"><ui:text from="{name}" /></div> </ui:UiBinder> MyStyle.css: .test { background-color: red; font-size: 20px; display: flex; ... } When I run my code I get the following error: [DEBUG] [mobile] - Rebinding test.client.app.MyCell.MyUiRenderer [DEBUG] [mobile] - Invoking generator com.google.gwt.uibinder.rebind.UiBinderGenerator [ERROR] [mobile] - java.lang.String required, but {styles} returns com.google.gwt.safecss.shared.SafeStyles: <div style='{styles}'> (:9) [ERROR] [mobile] - Deferred binding failed for 'test.client.app.MyCell.MyUiRenderer'; expect subsequent failures [ERROR] [mobile] - (GWT.java:72) 2014-06-08 17:15:05,214 [FATAL] Uncaught Exception: Then I tried to this: in my UiBinder but it does not work. • loop is cut one element of the array

    - by Walaa
The problem is : Write a program that reads a number n and then declares an array of n elements. The program then fills the array with the first n numbers, where each number is two to the power of the previous. Finally, display array’s contents. My code : import java.util.*; public class Q1 { static Scanner scan = new Scanner (System.in); public static void main(String args [] ) { int num; int i = 0; System.out.println("Enter a number :"); num = scan.nextInt(); double [] a=new double[num]; a[0]= num ; for ( ;i<=a.length-1 ; i++) { a[i+1] = Math.pow(2,a[i]); System.out.println((int)(a[i]) ); } } } The error is : ----jGRASP exec: java Q1 Enter a number : 4 4 16 65536 Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 4 at Q1.main(Q1.java:16) ----jGRASP wedge2: exit code for process is 1. why it says that? And the number by user printed twice!

  • Displaying data from linked tables in netbeans JTable

    - by Darc
I have been writing in java for a few months now and have just started using netbeans. I have spent all day today trying to work out how to connect to an SQL database and display data from 2 tables (ie display the data from from a select statement with an inner join) in a JTable. I have tried using JPQL with the following statment SELECT j, cust.name FROM Job j JOIN j.jobnumber cust where the job table has a field called customer that references id in the customer table. This throws the exception: Caused by: Exception [TOPLINK-8029] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.0.1 (Build b09d-fcs (12/06/2007))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.EJBQLException Exception Description: Error compiling the query [SELECT j, cust.name FROM Job j JOIN j.jobnumber cust], line 1, column 11: invalid navigation expression [cust.name], cannot navigate expression [cust] of type [java.lang.Integer] inside a query. at oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.EJBQLException.invalidNavigation(EJBQLException.java:430) What am i doing wrong? Can anyone point me to some examples of how to make a linked table java application? I am still in the very early stages of development so a complete change is not out of the question if using a mysql database isnt the best way to go about things thanks

  • What does "Select Distinct Null As xxxxx" mean?

    - by Soylent Green
Background: I am mapping Sybase stored procedure return values to java objects using Spring. For example I map a Sybase datatype of varchar as a String type in Java, and a Sybase datatype of int as an int type in Java, etc. I have come across the following code in one of the stored procedures: SELECT DISTINCT A.Col1 AS val1, A.Col2 AS val2, NULL AS someVal, A.col3 AS val3, ... A.col9 AS val9 FROM #SomeTable A ORDER BY Col2, Col3 I have 2 related questions: What does Null mean in this scenario? I am confused as to what is happening here. I am able to determine the data type of Col1, Col2, etc. of course by looking at the table definition of Table A defined earlier in the stored procedure. Thus I know what datatype I can define in my Java object for val1, val2, etc.. But what about "someVal"? What datatype mapping am I supposed to perform for this Null value? I am fairly inexperienced in SQL. Perhaps the answer is much simpler than I realize.

  • How to import 3rd party libraries

    - by Thahzan Mohomed
I found some cool android libraries the other day and decided to try some. But I'm having trouble correctly importing the library. This is the URL of the library : https://github.com/dmytrodanylyk/android-process-button I first tried importing the library to eclipse (and move the files in java directory to src directory and set the project as library) and importing the sample to eclipse and set it to use the library project (Properties-Android-Libraries). But it didn't work. The layout files said it failed to instantiate [custom widget class]. The I tried importing the .jar file to libs directory (and update the java build path) but it didn't work either. It showed errors in the java files too. I then tried copying all the java and layout files to the sample project directory and it worked. But I'm guessing that's not the way to work with 3rd party libraries. I first thought it's some error with the library but all the other libraries I tried to import to my projects faced the same problem. Can someone walk me through how to correctly import a 3rd party library to my android project?

  • Swing Menu dimensions

    - by ikurtz
Greetings. I am trying to learn Java and Swing (today is my first day). I have been able to set up a menu in my test application. but the items occupy very little space (they are narrow). How do I go about extendng the amount of space it uses? I am studying Teach Yourself Java 6 in 21 Days 5th Ed, Java Swing, 2nd Edition, 2002 and Teach Yourself Programming With Java In 24 Hours, 4th Edition (2005) but none of them shed any light on this issue. EDIT: Menu code: JMenu _Game = new JMenu("Game"); JMenuItem _New = new JMenuItem("New"); JMenuItem _Exit = new JMenuItem("Exit"); JMenu _Turn = new JMenu("Turn"); JMenuItem _Red = new JMenuItem("Red"); JMenuItem _Yellow = new JMenuItem("Yellow"); _Turn.add(_Red); _Turn.add(_Yellow); _Game.add(_New); _Game.addSeparator(); _Game.add(_Turn); _Game.addSeparator(); _Game.add(_Exit); JMenu _Help = new JMenu("Help"); JMenuItem _About = new JMenuItem("About"); _Help.add(_About); JMenuBar _MenuBar = new JMenuBar(); _MenuBar.add(_Game); _MenuBar.add(_Help); setJMenuBar(_MenuBar); EDIT: Solved! JMenuItem _New = new JMenuItem("New "); just add spaces as needed! simple.

  • Pass command line arguments to JUnit test case being run programmatically

    - by __nv__
I am attempting to run a JUnit Test from a Java Class with: JUnitCore core = new JUnitCore(); core.addListener(new RunListener()); core.run(classToRun); Problem is my JUnit test requires a database connection that is currently hardcoded in the JUnit test itself. What I am looking for is a way to run the JUnit test programmatically(above) but pass a database connection to it that I create in my Java Class that runs the test, and not hardcoded within the JUnit class. Basically something like JUnitCore core = new JUnitCore(); core.addListener(new RunListener()); core.addParameters(java.sql.Connection); core.run(classToRun); Then within the classToRun: @Test Public void Test1(Connection dbConnection){ Statement st = dbConnection.createStatement(); ResultSet rs = st.executeQuery("select total from dual"); rs.next(); String myTotal = rs.getString("TOTAL"); //btw my tests are selenium testcases:) selenium.isTextPresent(myTotal); } I know about The @Parameters, but it doesn't seem applicable here as it is more for running the same test case multiple times with differing values. I want all of my test cases to share a database connection that I pass in through a configuration file to my java client that then runs those test cases (also passed in through the configuration file). Is this possible? P.S. I understand this seems like an odd way of doing things.

  • Using addMouseListener() and paintComponent() for JPanel

    - by Alex
    This is a follow-up to my previous question. I've simplified things as much as I could, and it still doesn't work! Although the good thing I got around using getGraphics(). A detailed explanation on what goes wrong here is massively appreciated. My suspicion is that something's wrong with the the way I used addMouseListener() method here. import java.awt.Color; import java.awt.Graphics; import java.awt.event.MouseAdapter; import java.awt.event.MouseEvent; import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JPanel; public class MainClass1{ private static PaintClass22 inst2 = new PaintClass22(); public static void main(String args[]){ JFrame frame1 = new JFrame(); frame1.add(inst2); frame1.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); frame1.setTitle("NewPaintToolbox"); frame1.setSize(200, 200); frame1.setLocationRelativeTo(null); frame1.setVisible(true); } } class PaintClass11 extends MouseAdapter{ int xvar; int yvar; static PaintClass22 inst1 = new PaintClass22(); public PaintClass11(){ inst1.addMouseListener(this); inst1.addMouseMotionListener(this); } @Override public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent arg0) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub xvar = arg0.getX(); yvar = arg0.getY(); inst1.return_paint(xvar, yvar); } } class PaintClass22 extends JPanel{ private static int varx; private static int vary; public void return_paint(int input1, int input2){ varx = input1; vary = input2; repaint(varx,vary,10,10); } public void paintComponent(Graphics g){ super.paintComponents(g); g.setColor(Color.RED); g.fillRect(varx, vary, 10, 10); } }

Any help appreciated EDIT: Original code http://docs.jboss.org/netty/3.2/xref/org/jboss/netty/example/http/snoop/package-summary.html I've modified some parts to fit my needs.

  • Sorting and Re-arranging List of HashMaps

    - by HonorGod
    I have a List which is straight forward representation of a database table. I am trying to sort and apply some magic after the data is loaded into List of HashMaps. In my case this is the only hard and fast way of doing it becoz I have a rules engine that actually updates the values in the HashMap after several computations. Here is a sample data representation of the HashMap (List of HashMap) - {fromDate=Wed Mar 17 10:54:12 EDT 2010, eventId=21, toDate=Tue Mar 23 10:54:12 EDT 2010, actionId=1234} {fromDate=Wed Mar 17 10:54:12 EDT 2010, eventId=11, toDate=Wed Mar 17 10:54:12 EDT 2010, actionId=456} {fromDate=Sat Mar 20 10:54:12 EDT 2010, eventId=20, toDate=Thu Apr 01 10:54:12 EDT 2010, actionId=1234} {fromDate=Wed Mar 24 10:54:12 EDT 2010, eventId=22, toDate=Sat Mar 27 10:54:12 EDT 2010, actionId=1234} {fromDate=Wed Mar 17 10:54:12 EDT 2010, eventId=11, toDate=Fri Mar 26 10:54:12 EDT 2010, actionId=1234} {fromDate=Sat Mar 20 10:54:12 EDT 2010, eventId=11, toDate=Wed Mar 31 10:54:12 EDT 2010, actionId=1234} {fromDate=Mon Mar 15 10:54:12 EDT 2010, eventId=12, toDate=Wed Mar 17 10:54:12 EDT 2010, actionId=567} I am trying to achieve couple of things - 1) Sort the list by actionId and eventId after which the data would look like - {fromDate=Wed Mar 17 10:54:12 EDT 2010, eventId=11, toDate=Wed Mar 17 10:54:12 EDT 2010, actionId=456} {fromDate=Mon Mar 15 10:54:12 EDT 2010, eventId=12, toDate=Wed Mar 17 10:54:12 EDT 2010, actionId=567} {fromDate=Wed Mar 24 10:54:12 EDT 2010, eventId=22, toDate=Sat Mar 27 10:54:12 EDT 2010, actionId=1234} {fromDate=Wed Mar 17 10:54:12 EDT 2010, eventId=21, toDate=Tue Mar 23 10:54:12 EDT 2010, actionId=1234} {fromDate=Sat Mar 20 10:54:12 EDT 2010, eventId=20, toDate=Thu Apr 01 10:54:12 EDT 2010, actionId=1234} {fromDate=Wed Mar 17 10:54:12 EDT 2010, eventId=11, toDate=Fri Mar 26 10:54:12 EDT 2010, actionId=1234} {fromDate=Sat Mar 20 10:54:12 EDT 2010, eventId=11, toDate=Wed Mar 31 10:54:12 EDT 2010, actionId=1234} 2) If we group the above list by actionId they would be resolved into 3 groups - actionId=1234, actionId=567 and actionId=456. Now here is my question - For each group having the same eventId, I need to update the records so that they have wider fromDate to toDate. Meaning, if you consider the last two rows they have same actionId = 1234 and same eventId = 11. Now we can to pick the least fromDate from those 2 records which is Wed Mar 17 10:54:12 and farther toDate which is Wed Mar 31 10:54:12 and update those 2 record's fromDate and toDate to Wed Mar 17 10:54:12 and Wed Mar 31 10:54:12 respectively. Any ideas? • Producer and Consumer Threads Hang

    - by user972425
So this is my first foray into threads and thus far it is driving me insane. My problem seems to be some kind of synchronization error that causes my consumer thread to hang. I've looked at other code and just about everything I could find and I can't find what my error is. There also seems to be a discrepancy between the code being executed in Eclipse and via javac in the command line. Intention - Using a bounded buffer (with 1000 slots) create and consume 1,000,000 doubles. Use only notify and wait. Problem - In Eclipse the consumer thread will occasionally hang around 940,000 iterations, but other times completes. In the command line the consumer thread always hangs. Output - Eclipse - Successful Producer has produced 100000 doubles. Consumer has consumed 100000 doubles. Producer has produced 200000 doubles. Consumer has consumed 200000 doubles. Producer has produced 300000 doubles. Consumer has consumed 300000 doubles. Producer has produced 400000 doubles. Consumer has consumed 400000 doubles. Producer has produced 500000 doubles. Consumer has consumed 500000 doubles. Producer has produced 600000 doubles. Consumer has consumed 600000 doubles. Producer has produced 700000 doubles. Consumer has consumed 700000 doubles. Producer has produced 800000 doubles. Consumer has consumed 800000 doubles. Producer has produced 900000 doubles. Consumer has consumed 900000 doubles. Producer has produced 1000000 doubles. Producer has produced all items. Consumer has consumed 1000000 doubles. Consumer has consumed all items. Exitting Output - Command Line/Eclipse - Unsuccessful Producer has produced 100000 doubles. At this point it just sits and hangs. Any help you can provide about where I might have misstepped is greatly appreciated. Code - Producer thread import java.text.DecimalFormat;+ " doubles. • Ladder word-like game GUI problems

Ok so I've written my own version of game which should look like this : http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/6859/lab9a.jpg but mine looks like that : http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/7671/98921674.jpg How can I fix this ? Is there a way to do the layout completely differently ? • XML DB Content Connector unable to accept binary content due to Invalid argument(s) in call oracle.sql.BLOB.setBinaryStream(0L)

    - by sthieme
Dear Readers, I am working on implementing a custom Document Management System using the Oracle XML DB Content Connector. See the following documentation link for details Oracle XML DB Developer's Guide 11g Release 2 (11.2)Chapter 31 Using Oracle XML DB Content Connectorhttp://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e23094/xdb_jcr.htm especially the following example gave me some trouble to run it successfully Sample Code to Upload Filehttp://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e23094/xdb_jcr.htm#ADXDB5627 I had already succeeded to set some of the properties successfully, i.e. jcr:encoding, jcr:mimeType, ojcr:displayName and ojcr:language. However setting the jcr:data property as described in the example failed consistently, both with the documented input FileStream or with a fixed string. contentNode.setProperty("jcr:data", "mystringvalue"); After some research I found the following Support Note which describes the cause for the issue in the JDBC driver version 11.2.0.1. Error "ORA-17068: Invalid argument(s) in call" Using Method setBinaryStream(0L) in JDBC 11.2.0.1 (Doc ID 1234235.1)https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocContentDisplay?id=1234235.1It can easily be solved by upgrading to JDBC 11.2.0.2 or worked around using the following property setting: java -Doracle.jdbc.LobStreamPosStandardCompliant=false ... • Come see us at JavaU at JavaOne!

    - by tmcginn
In just a little under a month, JavaOne will be in full swing (no pun intended) and thousands of Java developers will gather to hear the latest Java news, immerse themselves in Java technology and learn some new things. This year, I am fortunate enough to be able to attend, along with my Java curriculum development colleagues Matt Heimer and Mike Williams. We start our week at JavaOne teaching a one-day session at JavaU on Sunday morning. If you have never attended a training session through JavaU, you should check it out. There are some terrific sessions this year, and it might help to justify your trip to JavaOne if you can say it was for training! This year I am teaching a one day session on Java SE 7 New Features - a great session for anyone interested in the specific details of what is new in Java SE 7. Matt is teaching a one-day session on Developing Portable Java EE applications with the Enterprise JavaBeans 3.1 API and Java Persistence 2.0 API  EJB, and Mike is doing a one-day session on developing Rich Client applications with Java SE 7 using Java FX 2. I asked Matt and Mike to tell me what developers can expect from their sessions. Matt: "My session will get you up to speed on everything you need to know to create portable Java EE 6 applications using EJB 3.1 and JPA 2. I am going to cover why everyone can benefit from using EJBs (and why developers should relearn them if they haven't looked at them for years). Students who attend my session will see JPA examples showcasing how to use relational databases in an enterprise applications without programming to JDBC and without writing SQL statements. EJB and JPA benefit from being paired together, so I will also show how transaction management is easier in a container. I encourage students to bring a laptop and code as they learn!" Mike: "My session covers how to develop a rich client application using Java FX 2. Starting with the basic concepts of JavaFX, students will see how a JavaFX application is built from its layout, to its controls, to its data structures. In addition, more advanced controls like charts, smart tables, and transitions will be added to the application. Finally, a quick review of JavaFX concurrency and data binding is included. Blended with the core concepts the session will include some of the latest JavaFX technology. This includes using Scene Builder to create a JavaFX UI and connecting your XML UI definition to Java code.  In addition, packaging of the JavaFX application will be covered with some examples of the new native packaging features." As I mentioned, my session covers the changes in the Java for SE 7, including the  language changes that were voted into Java SE 7 from Project Coin. I will also look at how you can take advantage if the the new I/O library (NIO.2) for writing applications that work with files, directories and file systems. We will also look at the changes in Asynchronous I/O that are a part of the changes in NIO/2. We will spend some time looking at the changes to the Java Virtual Machine as well, including support for dynamically typed languages (JSR-292). We will spend some time looking at the Java Concurrency enhancements (JSR-166), including the new Fork/Join framework. And we'll round out the day with a look at changes in Swing, XML and a number of smaller changes in the API's. And, if these topics aren't grabbing your interest, take a look at the other 10 sessions that range from topics on architecture to how to pass the Oracle Certified Programmer I and II exams. See you soon!

  • NFJS Central Iowa Software Symposium Des Moines Trip Report

    - by reza_rahman
As some of you may be aware, I recently joined the well-respected US based No Fluff Just Stuff (NFJS) Tour. If you work in the US and still don't know what the No Fluff Just Stuff (NFJS) Tour is, you are doing yourself a very serious disfavor. NFJS is by far the cheapest and most effective way to stay up to date through some world class speakers and talks. Following the US cultural tradition of old-fashioned roadshows, NFJS is basically a set program of speakers and topics offered at major US cities year round. The NFJS Central Iowa Software Symposium was held August 8 - 10 in Des Moines. The attendance at the event and my sessions was moderate by comparison to some of the other shows. It is one of the few events of it's kind that take place this part the country so it is extremely important. I had five talks total over two days, more or less back-to-back. The first one was my JavaScript + Java EE 7 talk titled "Using JavaScript/HTML5 Rich Clients with Java EE 7". This talk is basically about aligning EE 7 with the emerging JavaScript ecosystem (specifically AngularJS). The slide deck for the talk is here: JavaScript/HTML5 Rich Clients Using Java EE 7 from Reza Rahman The demo application code is posted on GitHub. The code should be a helpful resource if this development model is something that interests you. Do let me know if you need help with it but the instructions should be fairly self-explanatory. I am delivering this material at JavaOne 2014 as a two-hour tutorial. This should give me a little more bandwidth to dig a little deeper, especially on the JavaScript end. The second talk (on the second day) was our flagship Java EE 7/8 talk. Currently the talk is basically about Java EE 7 but I'm slowly evolving the talk to transform it into a Java EE 8 talk as we move forward. The following is the slide deck for the talk: JavaEE.Next(): Java EE 7, 8, and Beyond from Reza Rahman The next talk I delivered was my Cargo Tracker/Java EE + DDD talk. This talk basically overviews DDD and describes how DDD maps to Java EE using code examples/demos from the Cargo Tracker Java EE Blue Prints project. Applied Domain-Driven Design Blue Prints for Java EE from Reza Rahman The third was my talk titled "Using NoSQL with ~JPA, EclipseLink and Java EE". The talk covers an interesting gap that there is surprisingly little material on out there. The talk has three parts -- a birds-eye view of the NoSQL landscape, how to use NoSQL via a JPA centric facade using EclipseLink NoSQL, Hibernate OGM, DataNucleus, Kundera, Easy-Cassandra, etc and how to use NoSQL native APIs in Java EE via CDI. The slides for the talk are here: Using NoSQL with ~JPA, EclipseLink and Java EE from Reza Rahman The JPA based demo is available here, while the CDI based demo is available here. Both demos use MongoDB as the data store. Do let me know if you need help getting the demos up and running. I finishd off the event with a talk titled Building Java HTML5/WebSocket Applications with JSR 356. The talk introduces HTML 5 WebSocket, overviews JSR 356, tours the API and ends with a small WebSocket demo on GlassFish 4. The slide deck for the talk is posted below. Building Java HTML5/WebSocket Applications with JSR 356 from Reza Rahman The demo code is posted on GitHub: https://github.com/m-reza-rahman/hello-websocket. My next NFJS show is the Greater Atlanta Software Symposium on September 12 - 14. Here's my tour schedule so far, I'll keep you up-to-date as the tour goes forward: September 12 - 14, Atlanta. September 19 - 21, Boston. October 17 - 19, Seattle. I hope you'll take this opportunity to get some updates on Java EE as well as the other useful content on the tour?

  • OpenJDK vs. Sun Java6 on Ubuntu

    - by Mark Renouf
Due to past (bad) experience resulting from the GCJ stuff being provided by default on certain distributions, I've always traditionally installed the official Sun Java package on servers. On Ubuntu it's been easy but now OpenJDK is a preferred option and easier to install... I wonder: is there any reason not to use it instead? As far as I understand it's the open source version of the Sun JDK.

  • How do I change Jenkins-ci systemInfo PATH variable

    - by Thomas Schultz
I have Jenkins setup and it was working but then I updated java and now Jenkins acts like it doesn't know where it is. When I goto my Jenkins server and click manage jenkins-system information under the "Environment Variables" section the PATH variable is wrong. How can I change it? Jenkins is running as root but root's PATH is correct but Jenkins isn't pulling that correctly. Right now Jenkins can't find hg(mercurial) or anything else.
