Diamonds with question marks

Hi, I'm getting these little diamonds with question marks in them in my HTML attributes when I present data from my database. I'm using EPiServer and a few custom properties. This is the information I've gathered, I save my data as a XML document, since I use custom EPiServer properties which need more than one defined value. This is saved as UTF8. It's only attributes in element tags which have this problem, such as align=left becomes align=?left?. There is no " character there, but I get the diamonds anyway. If I use " outside an element, it works and shows correctly. Any clues?

Make XStream ignore one specific private variable

Hi guys, I have a little problem with a class I am currently writing a save function for. I'm using XStream (com.thoughtworks.xstream) to serialize a class to XML using the DOMDriver. The class looks like this: public class World { private Configuration config; public World(Configuration config) { this.config = config; } } So, the issue here is that I do not want to serialize Configuration when serializing world, rather I'd like to give XStream a preconstructed Configuration instance when calling fromXml(). Problem here is mainly class design, Configuration holds a private reference to the GUI classes and therefore serializing Configuration means serializing the whole application completely with GUI etc.. And that's kind of bad. Is there a way to instruct XStream to not serialize the private field config, and upon load supply XStream with a configuration instance to use? greetings Daniel

Java Hibernate id auto increment

Hy I'v a little problem with hibernate on netbeans. I've a table with an Auto increment id : CREATE TABLE "DVD" ( "DVD_ID" INT not null primary key GENERATED ALWAYS AS IDENTITY (START WITH 1, INCREMENT BY 1), "TITLE" VARCHAR(150), "COM" LONG VARCHAR, "COVER" VARCHAR(150) ); But this auto increment is not properly detected with Reverse Engineering. I get a map file with this : <id name="dvdId" type="int"> <column name="DVD_ID" /> <generator class="assigned" /> </id> i've looked on google and on this site ... foud some stuf but i'm still stuck.. i've tried to add insert="false" update="false" on the map file but i get back : Caused by: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Attribute "insert" must be declared for element type "id". Hi all, In my aplication, I want a tableview with different cell structure depending upon the category of data that's getting loaded in it [I have different categories like video, editorial etc with different structure of data like video has a single label, editorial has 3 labels etc]. I can load different nib files based on the data coming from xml parser. Now when the cell is tapped, I want to show its detailed view on a new viewController. So my question is is it possible to use only 1 viewController show different fields depending upon the category of data in the cell. Or do I need to create different viewControllers for each of the categories?

I'm extracting some information from an XML file, and I want to perform some modifications on the data while keeping a copy of the original in a variable "origFile". In Hibernate HQL, how would you query through a many-to-many association. If I have a Company with multiple ProductLines and other companies can offer these same product lines, I have a Company entity, a ProductLine entity and an association table CompanyProductLine. In SQL, I can get what I need like this: select * from company c where c.companyId in (select companyId from companyProductLine cpl, productline pl where cpl.productLineId = pl.productLineId and pl.name= 'some value'); My problem sees to lie with the association I defined in the Company.hbm.xml file: <set name="productLines" cascade="save-update" table="CompanyProductLine"> <key column="companyId"/> <many-to-many class="com.foo.ProductLine" column="productLineId" /> </set> Any HQL I seem to come up with will throw a: 'expecting 'elements' or 'indices"' Hibernate exception. Thoughts on what the proper HQL would be?

Edit PDF online and save and form data to server

Hello, I have some PDF documents which are being displayed in the browser, with some fields already being pre-populated from the database using iTextSharp (we are running Windows Server 2008, IIS 7, SQL Server 2008, and ASP.NET 2.0/2.5 with C#). Our clients need to be able to fill in the remaining fields and save the PDF to the server. I have considered the following possibilities: 1.) Somehow using iTextSharp to parse the form fields, grab all the form data and save it to the database on submit. 2.) Adding a submit button to the PDF itself using LiveCycle with some sort of JS click event to save the FDF/XFDF/XDP/XML data either to the database or to a flat file on the server. I am currently unsure as to what the best approach would be, what would work, or how to implement any of these possible solutions, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Which faces technology for use with GlassFish 2.1 and NetBeans 6.7?

I'm running GlassFish 2.1 and using NetBeans 6.7. I'd like to create a web interface to my data using JSF 1.2. Trouble is, I'm not sure which 'faces' technology to learn (that includes some good documentation). JBoss/RichFaces seem pretty good on documentation, but I'm using GlassFish. Any thoughts? I'm clearly missing some huge chunks of configuration, but I can't find any documentation to help me. Any suggestions would be much appreciated :-)

Base64 Encoded Data - DB or Filesystem

I have a new program that will be generating a lot of Base64 encoded audio and image data. This data will be served via HTTP in the form of XML and the Base64 data will be inline. These files will most likely break 20MB and higher. Would it be more efficient to serve these files directly from the filesystem or would it be feasible to store the data in a MySQL database? Caching will be set up but overall unnecessary because it is likely that this data will be purged shortly after it is created and served. i know that storing binary data in the DB is frowned upon in most circumstances but since this will all be character data I want to see what the consensus is. As of now, I am leaning toward storing them in the filesystem for efficiency reasons but if it is feasible to store them in a database it would be much easier to manage the data.

free RSS feed caching

Hello I've got an application which serves an rss feed of headlines and I need to provide this rss feed to other consumers. I don't want to provide the rss directly from my server though, due to limited server resources, so I need to proxy (cache) it through some service which will handle the load. Assuming the rss feed URL of my application is http://example.com/rss I initially provided my consumers with the url http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/services/feed/load?v=1.0&q=http%3A%2F%2Fexample.com%2Frss which solved my server load problem but introduced a liveness problem. The headlines are minutes to hours late from the actual feed (haven't exactly measured how much late). I've also tried distributing through feedburner so the url became something like http://feeds.feedburner.com/example123?format=xml but the liveness problem still exists. Is there a public and free solution for this problem? Anything below 5 minutes of liveness delay would be totally acceptable. thanks

Attaching files to WCF REST service responses

I have a resource that looks something like this: /users/{id}/summary?format={format} When format is "xml" or "json" I respond with a user summary object that gets automagically encoded by WCF - fine so far. But when format equals "pdf", I want my response to consist of a trivial HTTP response body and a PDF file attachment. How is this done? Hacking on WebOperationContext.Current.OutgoingResponse doesn't seem to work, and wouldn't be the right thing even if it did. Including the bits of the file in a CDATA section or something in the response isn't safe. Should I create a subclass of Message, then provide a custom IDispatchMessageFormatter that responds with it? I went a short distance down that path but ultimately found the documentation opaque. What's the right thing?

jQuery ajax request to php, how to return plain text only

I am making an ajax request to a php page and I cannot for the life of me get it to just return plain text. $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: '/shipping/test.php', cache: false, dataType: 'text', data: myData, success: function(data){ console.log(data) } }); in test.php I am including this script to get UPS rates. I am then calling the function with $rate = ups($dest_zip,$service,$weight,$length,$width,$height); I am doing echo $rate; at the bottom of test.php. When viewed in a browser shows the rate, that's great. But when I request the page via ajax I get a bunch of XML. Pastie here: http://pastie.org/1416142 My question is, how do I get it so I can just return the plain text string from the ajax call, where the result data will be a number? In this function if I say mycomponent._urlRequest ="http://mysite.com" the httpservice throws a null url error but if I say mycomponent.srv.url="http://mysite.com" it works fine. Why is this?

Dynamic creation of VS Project

I have a project where I create WiX (Windows Installer for XML) files, when they are not already present. It is working perfectly. Now I want to expand it to add more functionality. I was wondering if there is a way to create a Visual Studio project programmatically? This project is run as part of our nightly build process, and when a new wix file is needed it is created, but I want to have everything in place when the build is finished so if necessary you can just open the project in Visual Studio and start editing. Am I dreaming outside the realm of possibility or no? Any nudge in the right direction will be greatly appreciated.

RelativeLayout - positioning a View under a ViewGroup

I have the following structure defined in an xml layout file. <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/mainLayout" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <FrameLayout android:id="@+id/frame" android:layout_centerInParent="true" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" ></FrameLayout> <Button android:id="@+id/button" android:layout_below="@id/frame" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> </RelativeLayout> The FrameLayout is positioned correctly in the center of its parent. But the Button isn't getting positioned under it. Instead it's displaying in the top left corner. Am I doing something incorrectly or is this a bug with RelativeLayout?
