  • LINQ to NETEZZA

    - by CraigS
Does anyone know if it is possible to use LINQ to query a NETEZZA back-end? Update: I've tried both the ODBC and OLEDB Netezza drivers, but neither work. Both give a "The selected object(s) use an unsupported data source" error.

Let's say I have the following code in a form that is triggered on some click event. DoCmd.SetWarnings False DoCmd.OpenQuery "AddSomeStuff" DoCmd.OpenQuery "UpdateSomeOtherStuff" DoCmd.OpenQuery "DeleteABunchOfCrap" DoCmd.SetWarnings True Can I assume that the three update queries I executed (in SQL Server) are not transactional in that they are run is separate transactions?

  • Minimalist, Tiny Javascript Template System?

    - by Parand
I'm looking for a minimalist template system for javascript, ala John Resig's Javascript Micro Templating. The smaller the better, and if it's jquery based even better. Recommendations? I tried John's micro-templating but ran into a few issues, wanted to see if there are more baked / better packaged solutions out there. [Update] I tried Resig's Micro Templating again and it's working well for me. Would still like to hear about other alternatives if there are any.

  • Unit of Work pattern and persistence

    - by Mosh
Hello, I have been reading about Unit of Work pattern but I am confused about how the UoW actually persists data. When we commit the changes, UoW should iterate through the list of Added, Updated and Deleted objects and somehow find a class responsible to Add, Update, Delete objects of a certain type. I couldn't find an example showing this technique. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Mosh

  • Database design for heavy timed data logging

    - by user293995
Hi, I have an application where I receive each data 40.000 rows. I have 5 million rows to handle (500 Mb MySQL 5.0 database). Actually, thoses rows are stored in the same table = slow to update, hard to backup, ... Which king of scheme is used in such application to allow long term accessibility to the datas without problems with too big tables, easy backup, fast read / write ? Is postgresql better than mysql for such purpose ? Thanks in advance BEst regards

  • Why should I Use ASP.NET Membership security model?

    - by ListenToRick
I'm updating my website at the moment and figure that if I am to update my login/security mode, now is a good time. I have looked through the Membership model which is included in ASP.NET but I'm convinced that it will provide any benefit apart from being familiar to other .NET deevlopers. There seems to be quite a lot of documentation for it, but little discussion for why its worth the effort. Can anybody shed some light upon this?

  • Keeping track of changes - Django

    - by RadiantHex
Hi folks!! I have various models of which I would like to keep track and collect statistical data. The problem is how to store the changes throughout time. I thought of various alternative: Storing a log in a TextField, open it and update it every time the model is saved. Alternatively pickle a list and store it in a TextField. Save logs on hard drive. What are your suggestions?

  • Observer pattern used with decorator pattern

    - by icelated
I want to make a program that does an order entry system for beverages. ( i will probably do description, cost) I want to use the Decorator pattern and the observer pattern. I made a UML drawing and saved it as a pic for easy viewing. This site wont let me upload as a word doc so i have to upload a pic - i hope its easily viewable.... I need to know if i am doing the UML / design patterns correctly before moving on to the coding part. Beverage is my abstract component class. Espresso, houseblend, darkroast are my concrete subject classes.. I also have a condiment decorator class milk, mocha, soy, whip. would be my observer? because they would be interested in data changes to cost? Now, would the espresso, houseblend etc, be my SUBJECT and the condiments be my observer? My theory is that Cost is a changes and that the condiments need to know the changes? So, subject = esspresso,houseblend,darkroast,etc.. // they hold cost() Observer = milk, mocha, soy, whip? // they hold cost() would be the concrete components and the milk, mocha, soy, whip? would be the decorator! So, following good software engineering practices "design to an interface and not implementation" or "identify things that change from those that dont" would i need a costbehavior interface? If you look at the UML you will see where i am going with this and see if i am implementing observer + Decorator pattern correctly? I think the decorator is correct. since, the pic is not very viewable i will detail the classes here: Beverage class(register observer, remove observer, notify observer, description) these classes are the concrete beverage classes espresso, houseblend, darkroast, decaf(cost, getdescription, setcost, costchanged) interface observer class(update) // cost? interface costbehavior class(cost) // since this changes? condiment decorator class( getdescription) concrete classes that are linked to the 2 interface s and decorator are: milk, mocha, soy, whip(cost, getdescription, update) these are my decorator/ wrapper classes. Thank you.. Is there a way to make this picture bigger?

  • Adding a second table in a database

    - by MB
Hi everyone. I used the code provided by the NoteExample from the developers doc to create a database. Now I want to add a second table to store different data. I simply "copied" the given code, but when I try to insert into the new table I get an error saying: "0ERROR/Database(370): android.database.sqlite.SQLiteException: no such table: routes: , while compiling: INSERT INTO routes(line, arrival, duration, start) VALUES(?, ?, ?, ?);" Can someone please take quick look at my DbAdapter class and give me a hint or a solution? I really don't see any problem. my code compiles without any errors.. thanks in advance! • Rsync: pure Ruby implementation?

    - by peter
I have a Rsync program Deltacopy with an executable as client and server but would like to replace this if possible with a pure Ruby implementation of Rsync. I found gems like six-rsync and rsync-update but they seem to be no general implementations. I'm looking for a pure Ruby solution, so no executables involved and preferably runnable on multiple OS. If possible a simple sample would be great. I only look for Rsync, no other transfer or backup solutions please.

  • Strange problem with NSMutableArray - Possibly some memory corruption

    - by user210504
Hi! I am trying to update data in a table view using a NSMutableArray. Quite simple :( What is happening is that I get my data from a NSURLConnection Callback, which I parse and store it in an array and call reload data on the table view. The problem is that when cellForRowAtIndexPath is called back by the framework. The array still shows the correct count of the elements but all string objects I had stored earlier are shown as invalid. Any pointers

  • Changing the working directory for a process remotely

    - by Michael
I've got an application that has a bug right now, but we're unable to update the end-user to get the fix out. What a possible workaround would be is to change the working directory to the application's install directory, but from what I can tell, there's no way to do that outside of the program itself. Is there some sort of Windows API call that can change other processes' working directories, or is that not available due to security issues? I figure it's not possible.
