• Outlook 2010 search not working after upgrade to windows 8

  After upgrading my computer to Windows 8 Outlook 2010 has stopped displaying search results. Normally you can enter a (part) of a word in the search box on top of the inbox list and it will show you result immediatly. Even mails allready visible on the screen are not found. Somebody familiar with this issue? Update: maybe relevant: I use an Google Apps Pro account. All mail is synced and locally available in Outlook 2010. I did not change this in any way while upgrading, it was working perfectly before. I can scroll through all the e-mails, new mails are coming in as expected. This morning I received two mails from a person by the name of Rosanne. When searching on her name in Outlook it gives me One (1) result, the last mail from today. Update 2: Rebuilding the index seemed to be working. But after another day it stopped working again. No results whatsoever in Outlook search. Rebuilding indexes every day is not an option as it takes several hours. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that I use Google Apps Pro. It acts like a Exchange server to outlook. In indexing options (configuration) I added the directories containg the PST from this service (mail is also synced locally)

• linux kernel buffer memory is zero

  Hi all. There are one qestion that i can`t find in google. I have many linux boxes mostly with SLES or openSUSE, diffrent versions and kernels. On some of them i faced with slow oracle transactions problem. • How to make my Ubuntu an internet gateway for my Android phone

  I want to use the internet of my school on my Android, the problem is they have a Squid proxy, and many applications on my phone don't use the proxy at all. The obvious solution is to install a transparent proxy on my Android to force all applications to connect through it. The problem is that I need to root the phone to make it work, and I don't want to do it because it's not really my phone and rooting is a little risky- Another solution, which is safer, is to make my computer run as a gateway, so I put my Ubuntu IP in the gateway parameter of the phone. I'm running a small proxy on my ubuntu (cntlm), so I redirect the Android traffic to it. I did it with "iptables" as follows: iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -s 10.0.1.118 -p tcp -j REDIRECT --to-ports 8888 iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -s 10.0.1.118 -p udp -j REDIRECT --to-ports 8888 10.0.1.118 is the IP of the phone, 8888 is the port of cntlm (proxy on my PC). Now, on the phone: When I enter www.google.com on the navigator I get nothing (web site not found, error message of Firefox). But, when I enter http://74.125.143.101 (IP of Google) I get an error message from the school proxy (so it worked in some way – my PC redirected the traffic of the phone to the Squid proxy). The error message is : The requested URL could not be retrieved while trying to process the request get / http/1.1 host 74.125.143.101 user-Agent ... ... I think the problem is in the "GET" header,it should be GET 74.125.143.101 HTTP/1.1. But I don't understand what's happening, and I'm a certified CCNA.

• Can't access apache from outsite my local network

  UPDATED: Now, when I type my external ip like xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8079, i can access xampp defaults page. But the strange is that when someone else from outside my network, try to access it using the same ip, it doesnt work. I Think it should, because its the external ip. I'm getting crazy. I have tried for hours to access xampp defaults page from outside my local network. My ISP blocks port 80 and 8080. So I changed apache to listen to port 8079 Listen 8079 My local computer ip is 10.1.1.2 I can access the webserver, from any computer on my local network when I type http://10.1.1.2:8079 I also oppended the port 8079 on my modem, as the image shows bellow. (I think i did it right) When apache is running on my computer, if I test the port 8079 at http://canyouseeme.org/ i get the message "Success: I can see your service on xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx on port (8079) Your ISP is not blocking port 8079" If apache is not running I get "Error: I could not see your service on xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx on port (8079) Reason: Connection refused". So, it's clear that the port 8079 is oppened. But when I type xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8079 on google chrome for example, I get Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8079 What can I do to solve this, to allow apache to server the pages? I don't know what else I shoud configure. Please, help me. Thanks.

• Unable to install Xdebug

  I've registered xdebug in php.ini (as per http://xdebug.org/docs/install) but it's not showing up when i run "php -m" or when i get a test page to run "phpinfo()". I've just installed the latest version of XAMPP. Can anyone provide any suggestions in getting xdebug to show up?   I'm trying to set up jsTree to dynamically accept JSON data from django. I've also tried simpleJson encoding in django but with the same result. If I change the url so that it is receiving a JSON file with identical data, it works as expected. Any ideas on what the issue might be?

  Dear stackoverflow experts, I have a little script which allows me to use jQuery to sort div tags nicely between 3 columns. The jQuery can be seen below: $(".column").sortable( { connectWith: '.column' }, { update: function(event, ui) { alert($(this).sortable('serialize')) } }); If I move an item from column 1 to column 2, it will display 2 alerts, showing the serialized data for the 2 affected columns. The problem is, I need to know the column ids too, so I can eventually save the data into a database. Right now, if it is possible to just display the column id in an alert but, that will be enough for me to continue. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  Hi, I've a servlet that is invoked via jquery ajax. The resulting XML is then transformed using XSL and displayed on screen. Now, the requirement is to either print or save this content to the local machine. The print portion is working fine but I'm stuck at the Save As part. How do I do this using jquery/javascript? I'm using IE8/XP. I tried document.execCommand('SaveAs'); on button click but it doesn't seem to work in IE8. It shows the alerts I put in till that point, but doesn't bring up the dialog box. What's going wrong here?

My first trial involves displaying a button which, when clicked, calls a JavaScript function that should alert the phones latitude and longitude.   The contract of equals with regards to null, is as follows: For any non-null reference value x, x.equals(null) should return false. This is rather peculiar, because if o1 != null and o2 == null, then we have: o1.equals(o2) // returns false o2.equals(o1) // throws NullPointerException The fact that o2.equals(o1) throws NullPointerException is a good thing, because it alerts us of programmer error. And yet, that error would not be catched if for various reasons we just switched it around to o1.equals(o2), which would just "silently fail" instead. So the questions are: Why is it a good idea that o1.equals(o2) should return false instead of throwing NullPointerException? Would it be a bad idea if wherever possible we rewrite the contract so that anyObject.equals(null) always throw NullPointerException instead?

• viewDidAppear called when popping navigationController

  I'm having a bit of a problem with the viewDidAppear: method. I have a tabBarController with navigationControllers on each tab, and I have an action that requires that all the navigation controllers pop to their rootViewControllers (programmatically). The problem is that when they pop each navigation controller, the rootViewController's viewDidAppear get's called without it actually being shown. This causes them to do some stuff they were not supposed to (like showing alerts) unless they are actually shown. Besides having to check the currently selected tabBar item, is there any other way to solve this? Thanks.

  I have jQuery to select all font elements that are children of the element with id="right" within the html stored in the var html... when I do an alert to see how many elements it gets: alert($("#right > font", html).length); it gives me an alert of: 5 but when I try any of the following, I don't get any alerts... alert($("#right > font", html)[0].html()); alert($("#right > font", html)[0].text()); alert($("#right > font", html)[0].val()); Any Ideas? • How to detect checkbox state in Javascript IE7

  I have a simple checkbox on my website. Everytime you check and uncheck it, it shows an alert as to what the state is. This works flawlessly in FF, Chrome, and IE8. However, when I run this in IE7, no matter if the check is on or off, it always alerts "off". It's like IE7 can't detect that the checkbox is checked. Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this or work around it? I basically need to toggle the visibility of some content based on a checkbox, but IE7 is being difficult. Thanks! Like other portals, subscriber users should be able to create a topic, discuss topic, share information about them, and have the ability for notifications/alerts. The added feature, I would like to have is to moderate users. Based on the topic of discussion, users will be asked automated questions and their responses will be processed to provide recommendations. I have no knowledge of social networking portal requirements. I will be coding alone and want to have something up and running in about six months. • accessing embedded object with jquery not working in firefox 3.6

  Hi, this code in my plugin used to work just fine: jQuery('#embedded_obj', context).get(0).getVersion(); and in html... <object id="embedded_obj" type="application/x-versionchecker-1.0.0.1"</object Basically trying to get the properties from an embedded object. But it looks like get(0) is returning an html object instead of the actual embedded object. For example, if I do: var launcher = jQuery('#embedded_obj', context).get(0); for(prop in launcher){ alert(prop + ': ' + launcher[prop]); } ... it alerts things like "getElementByNode," "scrollWidth," "clientLeft," "clientTop" etc. Again this worked before Firefox 3.6. Has anyone else seen this or have any ideas/suggestions? Thanks!

In IE6 and IE7, I see the following two alerts: Data in: (52,16),(100,90) After if: undefined undefined The "Data in" alert matches in all browsers. Any ideas?

• GWT's JSONParser producing incorrect values for numbers.

  I'm work with GWT and parsing a JSON result from an ASP.NET webservice method that returns a DataTable. I can parse the result into a JSONvalue/JSONObject just fine. The issue I'm having is that one my columns in a DECIMAL(20, 0) and the values that are getting parsed into JSON aren't exact. To demonstrate w/o the need for a WS call, in GWT I threw this together: String jsonString = "{value:4768428229311981600}"; JSONObject jsonObject = JSONParser.parse( jsonString ).isObject(); Window.alert( jsonObject.toString() ); This in turn alerts: {"value":4768428229311982000} I'm under the understanding that GWT's JSONParser is just using eval() to do the parsing, so is this some sort of number/precision issue with JavaScript that I've never been aware of. I'll admit I don't work with numbers that much in JavaScript and I might be able to work around this by changing the .NET WebService to return this column as string, but I'd really rather not do that. Thanks for any help.
