  • .net example of using client certificates in web service call?

    I'd like to use client certificates to verify the identity of administrative callers to my web service. Then I can issue certificates only to the people I want to call my web service and be pretty sure noone else can call it. This is in a very controlled scenario where only one or two people will get the client certificate, so distribution isn't a hard problem. This article provides a good example of how to call a web service using a client certificate. But how can I check details of the client certificate from within my web service? This old article talks about configuring IIS to do it, but I'd like to do it programmatically within my app. I think? thanks for any suggestions!

    In the course of my work i need to develop an authorization engine ( i'm already authenticated and i check access of a user to an action ) in order to store all the authorization logic inside a same place and be able to reuse it and i have created the mini library. http://github.com/eltados/canny (updated) what do you think about it? What are the limits of my approch ? Do you understand the benefit or it? Is there any lightweight Authorization engine library i could have a look at? I had a look at spring security and it does not really answer my requirement. The main idea is that i want to be able to reuse the same code to controll access in the controllers and the views.

    After publishing a WPF application to a central location using ClickOnce, I am getting following exception when user tries to access the application. There are other applications, which works fine for them and issue is only when they access a particular application. I can't workout why this hence the exception doesn't seems to be very helpful.   • My IP seems to be blocked by web hosting server...

    Hi All I have a strange problem, i just installed my php web site on a shared hosting, all services were working fine. But after configuring my app i just could visit my web site only once, other attempts gives "The server is taking too long to respond.". But from other IP i can access, but only once, it seems all ip addressess beeing blocked after first visit(even ftp and other services get down, no access at all from the IP), can anyone help to explore this problem ? i don't think that it's my app problem, the app works fine on my local PC. Thanks.

    According to Wikipedia: An object is first-class when it: can be stored in variables and data structures can be passed as a parameter to a subroutine can be returned as the result of a subroutine can be constructed at runtime has intrinsic identity (independent of any given name) Somebody had once told me that raw pointers are not first class objects while smart pointers like std::auto_ptr are. But to me, a raw pointer (to an object or to a function) in C++ does seem to me to satisfy the conditions stated above to qualify as a first class object. Am I missing something?

    I want to make a Windows service that will access my database. My database is SQL Server 2005. Actually I am working on a website and my database is inside our server. I need to access my database every second and update the records. For that purpose I need to make a Windows service that will install into our server and perform the task. I have been accessing the database from my local machine and then running the service, but problem is I'm not sure how I can test this service. I tried to install into my local machine. It installed and then I ran the service but it did not perform the task and I think service is not able to connect with the database. There is no problem in the service nor its installer. The only issue is how to test my Windows service.

  • How to generate unique number of 12 digits?

    I'm working on an app that sends raw data to zebra printer and print out barcodes. And since every item has its own unique barcode, I need to define a variable that automatically generates unique number of 12 digits long. see example: printBar prnt = new printBar("123456789012"); Is there anyway to define a double variable and pass it to a function that return uniqely 12 digits number and pass it over again to the printBar class?. But how to make sure everytime you access it returns a unique value?. I also thought of another way, since am using MS Access db, I can create a column of AutoNumber datatype and assign it to Random, but you don't get the exact 12 digits required, sometimes it generates a value of 10 digits sometimes more or less.

  • An Inaccessible JavaScript Object property - Why is Firebug showing this?

    So, I'm attempting to access the content of an object and for the life of me can't figure out why I can't. I'm starting to believe that the object doesn't have the properties that Firebug indicates that it does. More likely than that I'm just not using the right syntax to access them. Give the following function: function(userData) { console.log(userData); // statement 1 console.log(userData.t_nodecontent); // statement 2 } Which generates the following FireBug output for statement 1 and unknown for statement 2. Is there something obvious that I'm overlooking in the way I'm attempting to reference the value of t_nodecontent? I'm at a loss :(

    Hy I'v a little problem with hibernate on netbeans. I've a table with an Auto increment id : CREATE TABLE "DVD" ( "DVD_ID" INT not null primary key GENERATED ALWAYS AS IDENTITY (START WITH 1, INCREMENT BY 1), "TITLE" VARCHAR(150), "COM" LONG VARCHAR, "COVER" VARCHAR(150) ); But this auto increment is not properly detected with Reverse Engineering. I get a map file with this : <id name="dvdId" type="int"> <column name="DVD_ID" /> <generator class="assigned" /> </id> i've looked on google and on this site ... foud some stuf but i'm still stuck.. i've tried to add insert="false" update="false" on the map file but i get back : Caused by: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Attribute "insert" must be declared for element type "id".     Hi all. In an n-tier architecture, the best place to put an object-relational mapping (OR/M) code is in the data access layer. For example, database queries and updates can be delegated to a tool like NHibernate. Yet, I'd like to keep all references to NHibernate within the data access layer and abstract dependencies away from the layers below or above it. That way, I can swap or plug in another OR/M tool (e.g. Entity Framework) or some approach (e.g. plain vanilla stored procedure calls, mock objects) without causing compile-time errors or a major overhaul of the entire application. Testability is an added bonus. Could someone please suggest a wrapper (i.e. an interface or base class) or approach that would keep OR/M loosely coupled and contained in 1 layer? Or point me to resources that would help? Thanks.

  • Reading and writing to SysV shared memory without synchronization (use of semaphores, C/C++, Linux)

    Hi, I use SysV shared memory to let two processes communicate with each other. I do not want the code to become to complex so I wondered if I really had to use semaphores to synchronize the access to the shared memory. In my C/C++ program the parent process reads from the shared memory and the child process writes to the shared memory. I wrote two test applications to see if I could produce some kind of error like a segmentation fault, but I couldn't (Ubuntu 10.04 64bit). Even two processes writing non stop in a while loop to the same shared memory did not produce any error. I hope someone has experience concerning this matter and can tell me if I really must use semaphores to synchronize the access or if I am OK without synchronization. Thanks

    I've been trying to get Rails to play with the new Facebook Graph API. After I get the authorization "code", I need to send another request which returns the access token in JSON form. It seems to work fine, however I want to fetch the access token JSON without redirecting the user. I'm attempting to use Net::HTTP.get, but I'm not sure how to use it to get a request body, or even if it's the right thing to use to begin with. Can anyone give an example of performing an HTTP GET?

    Can anybody tell my why this doesn't work in the Android emulator? From the browser I have access and the server is internal.     I currently have a abstract controller class that I all my controllers inherit from. In my master page I want to be able to access some data that will be in Session and also the currently user (IPrinciple). I read that I could use the contructor of by abstract base controller class, that is I could do something like public BaseController() { ViewData["SomeData"] = Session["SomeData"]; ViewData["UserName"] = this.User.Identity.Name; } I could then access ViewData["UserName"] etc from my master page. My problem is that both Session and User are null at this point. Does anybody know of a different approach? Thanks in advance.

    right now I am trying to Setup Continuouse Integration - Delivery for a basic WCF Service, which will be hosted on a Microsoft Azure VM. The Project is Version Controlled through Visual Studio Online. So I installed Jenkins (also on the Azure VM), TFS plugin etc. and started the first Test Build: As Server URL I used "[VSO Adress]/DefaultCollection" and for Login purposes my Microsoft Account (I can Access VSO with that).     I have a Django project where the company will have a main site like www.ourcompany.org and a bunch of sub-domains like project.ourcompany.org. Content appearing in the sub-domains like case studies should also appear in the main site. I've decided to use multiple instances of Django BUT one database for each sub-domain so that I can have some flexibility and take advantage of the Sites framework. What I'm not sure of is how to access the models across the multiple instances. If I have a model: class CaseStudy(models.Model): title=models.CharField(max_length=100) site=models.ManyToMany(Site) Do I need to create this model in every instance so that I can have access to the object?

  • Service-Based Authentication Using Tokens

    I'm having a tough time trying to find clear and concise examples of how one would implement a service-based authentication scheme using tokens. As far as I can tell, the basic steps are as follows: Client requests username/password from user Client passes username/password to identity provider Provider checks username/password and sends back a token if the user is valid Client does something with the token? The third and fourth step are where I'm getting stuck. I assume the "token" in this case just has to be either an encrypted string that the client can decrypt or some random string that gets stored somewhere (i.e. a database) that the client can then verify against, but I'm not really sure what the client is then supposed to do with the token or why you even need a token at all -- couldn't a simple user ID also suffice?

  • Sending Variables in Post without the input tag

    I want to send only one variable via the post method. I have queried the database and have to post $row[id] variable to the page along with the form. To send the user's input we simply write like <input type="text" name="xyz"></input> and then we access it as $_POST[xyz]. This way we can send a variable that a user write. But, I want to send something that user has not written but there in my sending file as $row['id']. So, I want to send this variable as well. How can I do that? And also how will I be able to access that?
