Hey guys, I don't think I'm getting it right. Here is my most recent query that I believe is almost working. SELECT max(sender_id) as sender_id, subject, MAX(id) as message_id, MAX(created_at) as updated_at FROM messages where (recipient_id = #{current_user} and recipient_deleted = 'f') or sender_id = #{current_user} GROUP BY subject ORDER BY max(created_at) DESC ; Basically the goal is to fetch all recent messages of a user, group them by subject, and make sure that the photo that is showing up is the other party's photo, never the current user. (also need the most recent message body and message count but that is for another time) Here is what I think is wrong. doing max(sender_id) is wrong, since the current_user id could be higher than the sender's id. I am using the sender_id in the html page to fetch the user's photo.

Referencing View directory in asp.net mvc

i have some html files as part of a regular website that has been ported over to asp.net mvc. Ado.Net Entity produces "namespace cannot be found"

I've seen several possible solutions to this, but none have worked for me. After adding a ADO.NET Entity Data Model to my .Net Forms C# web project, I am unable to use it. Perhaps I made a mistake adding it? The name of the file added is QcFormData.edmx. In my code, perhaps I'm instantiating it incorrectly? I tried adding the line: QcFormDataContainer db = new QcFormDataContainer(); It appears in Intellisense, but when compiling I get the error : Error 13 The type or namespace name 'QcFormDataContainer' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) I've followed the suggestions that I found online that did not help: 1) made sure there is "using System.Data.Entity" 2) made sure the dll exists. 3) made sure the reference exists. 4) one post said use using System.Web.Data.Entity; but I do not see that available. What am I missing? Could not see memory being released on closing MFC modal dialog that hosts wpf user control using HW

This is in continuation with my last question posted "Continuous Memory leak while using WpfHWndSource" I have to load an WPF User Control in an MFC Modal Dialog that is being invoked from the ocx control. For this I have created a MFC Regular Dll(Mixed Mode Regular dll with clr option enabled), I have created a modal dialog which will host wpf user control using HWndSource. This exported dialog is placed as a child Dialog of the above MFC dialog that is being invoked from the ocx. Ny intermediate dialog uses C++/Cli code. When the main MFC dialog is closed, I am deleteing the ptr reference of the intermediate dialog created on the heap. In the the dipose of the .Net User Control, I have set most of the references that I have created to null, unsubscribed to the events (to avoid weak refernces), unbinded from the propertes(by using clear binding). Called delete on the HwndSource and the user control(which basically calls the dispose method). But I do not see complete memory being released. Any help would be greatful.

How to tell when my batch of EAP calls are completed?

This is following my question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2607038/c-how-to-consume-web-service-adheres-to-the-event-based-asynchronous-pattern My program is calling the DoStuffAsync() x many times in a batch, hence the callback will get invoked the same number of times upon OnComplete(). Is there a way to find out when my batch is finished such that I can generate a report on the success/failed results? All I can think of is to have a static count variable for x and deduct 1 every time OnComplete() is called, but its kind of silly and error prone I'm afraid. TIA.

I have .Net service that listens on single port over TCP protocol. Clients connect and then transmit data for some time (from few minutes to several hours). Is there any limit on number of connections on Windows 2008 server? I did not hit any, since now there is up to 50 users. Plan is to have thousands of users, so I'd like to know if there will be problems in future. Edit: As Cloud answered, it seems that there are some limits in some versions of Windows Server 2008. Is there any reference on those limits? I tried Google, but it returns articles on limit on half-bound tcp connections.

I tried using two queries in my function, but I could not return two variables to the cfinvoke. Hey, I'm making an e-shop and to display the tree of categories and all the products with their multiple variations of prices I made like more than 150 mysql_query("SELECT ..."); queries on one page. (If I count the "while" loops). Is it too many, and if yes, can it have any negative effect? (ofc. it takes longer to load the data ..) Hi I'm a BA / programmer type doing data analysis on a legacy system. I've been teaching myself SQL to help, but I've appeared to hit upon a problem bigger than my abilities. I have two tables (generalized for simplicity): Table Objects Object_PK Table Components Component_PK Object_FK Component_Type There are 100+ distinct values in Component_Type_Code. Given that any object can have N number of Components, how can I see which Component_Type(s) appear with other Component_Type(s)? For example, the following query tells me what component_types appear with the component_type 'Component_type_1': select component_type_code, count(*) from components where object_fk in ( select object_fk from components where component_type_code = 'component_type_1' ) group by component_type_code I'd like to get a query to show me all connections My apologies for the formatting. How do I use global resources in WPF?

I have a WPF application which I would like to use some static resources in. I have created a Resource Library XAML file which contains a resource. I have also added a string into the Resources of the project through the Properties panel. I assumed I could just use these resources with the binding expression: {StaticResource ResourceName} But visual studio is telling me the resources are not found. Do I have to include some form of reference in my XAML? The examples I have seen only include resources locally such as: <Window.Resources>, <Page.Resources> etc I don't want to include the resources locally because I want them to be available to multiple parts of the application.

How to convert a MSSQL database (including procedures, functions and triggers) to a firebird databas

I am considering migrating to Firebird. To have a "quick start" approach I downloaded the trial of a conversion tool (DBConvert) and tried it. I just picked up a random tool, this tool doesn't convert procedures, functions and triggers (I don't think it is a limit of the trial since there is not an explicit reference to sp, sf and triggers in the link above). Anyway by trying that tool I had the message: "The DB cannot be converted succesfully because some FK names are too long." This is because in some tables I have FK whose description is 32 chars. Is this a real firebird limit or it is possible to overcome it somehow (of course renaming the FK is an extreme option because it is extra work)? Anyway how to convert a MS SQL DB fully to FIREBIRD? Is there a valid tool? Did someone succed in a conversion of non trivial databases?

Cocos2d: is it good practice to use a shared GameScene when having various levels?

In my code (based on the ShootEmUp example in this book, which I highly reccomend, source code in chapter 8 available here) I often use the trick of accessing the GameScene via: +(GameScene*) sharedGameScene; which returns a reference to the static instance of GameScene. Is a static instance of GameScene as in the book still a valid pattern in case I want a MainMenu calling GameScene initialized with different level data each time (e.g. different enemies)? (I have created a sceneWithId:(int) method where I load different level data each time. Or should I pheraps create a GameScene class and then sublcass it? E.g. FirstGameScene : GameScene

I have to update the build number in assembly version of assemblyinfo.cs file. I have written a custom tasks which updates all the assmeblyinfo.cs under a solution before starting build. But when i change this file and try to build then some of my dlls which has reference of other dlls not able to compile as they dont find the specific version assembly. I have some files which uses strong name assembly also. Not sure how to update their version. I have tried setting specific version to false,but still same error is coming. Can you anybody tell me the good way to update the assemblyinfo.cs with incremental build number? P.S. i am using NANT tasks for automating by builds.

Loop a UIScrollviw with ViewControllers

Hi I'm trying to create a UIScrollView with loop that contains a collection of ViewControllers. The answer to this question here shows the code that is the basis for what I'm trying to do. It uses images instead of viewControllers. I've managed to get the all the viewControllers loaded (4) and displaying but the first view which is a duplicate of the last viewController is blank. I've tried creating a copy of this viewController and adding it to the array but this messes up the transition / count. Any suggestions?

Can't use where clause on correlated columns.

I want to add a where clause to make sure video_count is greater than zero. Only categories which are referenced once or more in video_category.video_id should be returned. Because video_count is not a field in any table I cannot do this. Here is the query. How to dynamically modify NHibernate load queries at runtime? EventListeners? Interceptors?

I need to modify the query used to load many-to-one references in my model. Specifically, I need to be able to further filter this data. Unfortunately, NH will not allow me to filter many-to-one relationships using the built in filtering system (?). I could just be doing something incorrect. Is there a hook where I can manually and dynamically modify the query used to load the data? Or an alternative to filters that will allow me to specify parameters? Background: I am working with a database that is using a form of revision control, with each entity having a natural ID PK, an EntityId, a RevisionValidTo and RevisionValidFrom field. There may be many rows using the same EntityId, which is the reference for other tables to join on, but the Revision ranges are mutually exclusive. Mac OS X 10.5+ and POSIX

Hello, I need to program an authentication module that has to work with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and at the same time needs to be POSIX-compliant. I read here: developer.apple.com/leopard/overview/osfoundations.html that since Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, Mac OS X is POSIX-compliant (to POSIX 1003.1), but working under MAC OS X 10.5 Leopard myself, I can't find any trace of my user name neither in /etc/passwd nor in its successor /etc/master.passwd, which is mentioned here: developer.apple.com/mac/library/DOCUMENTATION/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/man5/passwd.5.html Instead it says in both files OpenDirectory Service is used, which should be OpenLDAP according to the OpenDirectoryService man-page. Is this still POSIX-compliant ? I guess not. I wonder how Mac OS X would handle my 100% POSIX-compliant code which depends on /etc/passwd ?
