• An html input box isn't being displayed, Firebug says it has style="display: none" but I haven't don

• Javascript style variables with "-" in their name aren't able to be changed?

  Okay, so this bug has cost me quite a bit of time and embarrassment. It seems that any style variable with a - in it's name can't be modified by javascript.   I need to return multiple values from a ColdFusion function in an ajax callback function. I need the function to also pass back other values. One might be the primary key of the row that caused the error. Another might be the old StateName, so that I can refresh the old value on the screen so that the client will know absolutely for sure that their change did not take effect. I guess I'm breaking the rule of atomicity here and need to fix that, because I'm using result as both the primary key of the row that was updated, or it's the error message if the update fails. I need to return both the primary key and the error message.

• Trying to get focus onto JTextPane after doubleclicking on JList element (Java)

  Hi all. Problem: I have the following JList which I add to the textPane, and show it upon the caret moving. However, after double clicking on the Jlist element, the text gets inserted, but the caret is not appearing on the JTextPane.   Hello I am trying to implement a solution for updating form controls without using a delegate. But i get 'l' is not declared error. As you can see im very new to VB or any OOP. I can get the second solution on that page to work (using delegates) but i have quite a few things to do in this thread and it seems like i would need to write a new delegate sub for each thing, which seems wasteful. What i need to do is select the 1st item from a combobox, update a textbox.text with the selected item, and pass the selected item to a function. Then wait for x seconds and start again, selecting the second item. I can get it to work in a single threaded application, but i need the interface to remain responsive. Any help greatly appreciated. EDIT: OK so changing the syntax worked for the example. However if i change it from Label1.CustomInvoke(Sub(l) l.text = "hello world!") (which worked just fine) to: Dim indexnumber As Integer = 0 ComboBox1.CustomInvoke(Sub(l) l.SelectedIndex = indexnumber) I get a cross threading error as though i didnt even use this method: Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'ComboBox1' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on. So now im back to where i started? Any further help very much appreciated.

• deserializing multiple types from a stream

  I have a card game program, and so far, the chat works great back and forth over the TCPClient streams between host and client. I want to make it do this with serializing and deserializing so that I can also pass cards between host and client. I tried to create a separate TCPClient stream for the passing of cards but it didn't work and figured it may be easier to keep one TCPClient stream that gets the text messages as well as cards. So I created a class, called cereal, which has the properties for the cards that will help me rebuild the card from an embedded database of cards on the other end. Is there a way to make my program figure out whether a card has been put in the stream or if it's just text in the stream so I can properly deserialize it to a string or to a cereal? Or should I add a string property to my cereal class and when that property is filled in after deserializing to the cereal, i'll know it's just text (if that field is empty after deserializing i'll know it's a card)? I'm thinking a try catch, where it tries to deserialize to a string, and if it fails it will catch and cast as a cereal. Or am I just way off base with this and should choose another route? I'm using visual studio 2011, am using a binaryformatter, and am new to serializing/deserializing.

  I'm using the default for jQueryUI, but it looks like the font is a little big. I know that one solution would be "WELL! • Send Automated Email through Windows Service that has an embedded image using C#

  I already have a C# windows service that we use internally to monitor a directory on our network and when it detects a change sends off an email using our internal SMTP server to the specified groups of people. Now I need to embedd an image in that automated email. I understand that I need to create an AlternateView and a Linked Resource and use the Linked Resource's cID in the AlternateView, correct. What I do not understand is where do I put the image? Should I add it to my service project and set Copy to Output Directory = Copy Always? If so, how would I then access when creating my LinkedResource? Also, where do I put the image on the Server hosting the Service? Here is what I have so far but it doesn't seem to work. I don't get any errors, that I am aware of, but I do not get an email either. • How to have a user control as a ListBoxItem

  I want to bind a user control (View) to a ListBoxItem. The ListBox is bound to a collection of ViewModels.   I have an XML I'm trying to parse from memory and get the status of each of my heart beat tests using Nokogiri. Here is the solution I have... xml = <a:HBeat> <a:ElapsedTime>3 ms</a:ElapsedTime> <a:Name>Service 1</a:Name> <a:Status>true</a:Status> </a:HBeat> <a:HBeat> <a:ElapsedTime>4 ms</a:ElapsedTime> <a:Name>Service 2</a:Name> <a:Status>true</a:Status> </a:HBeat> <a:HBeat> I have tried using both css and xpath to pull back the value for each Status and put it into an array. Code is below: doc = Nokogiri::XML.parse(xml) #service_state = doc.css("a:HBeat, a:Status", 'a' => 'http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/OpenAPI.Entity').map {|node| node.children.text} service_state = doc.xpath("//*[@a:Status]", 'a' => 'http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/OpenAPI.Entity').map(&:text) Both will return service_state = []. Any thoughts or recommendations? • How to determine if the camera button is half pressed

  I am creating a small test camera application, and I would like to be able to implement a feature that allows focus text bars to be present on the screen while the hardware camera button is pressed half way down. I created a camera_ButtonHalfPress event to perform the focus action, but I am unsure of how to toggle the text bars I would like to show on the screen accordingly. Essentially, my goal would be to show the text bars while the camera button is pressed half way down, and then remove them if the button is pressed all the way or the button is released before being pressed all the way down. The button being released is the part I am having trouble with. What I have is as follows: MainPage.xaml.cs private void camera_ButtonHalfPress(object sender, EventArgs e) { //camera.Focus(); // Show the focus brackets. focusBrackets.Visibility = Visibility.Visible; } } private void camera_ButtonFullPress(object sender, EventArgs e) { // Hide the focus brackets. focusBrackets.Visibility = Visibility.Collapsed; camera.CaptureImage(); } } Currently, if the the user decides to release the camera button before it is pressed all the way, the focus brackets persist on the screen. • MVC JsonResult with the [Authorize] attribute going to Logon but not displaying the view

  I am seeing odd behavior with MVC 3 methods that return a JsonResult when used with the Authorize attribute. What looks like happens is the Authorize is correctly evaluated when I am not logged in but instead of redirecting to the logon form the Json response is the logon form. Is there an addition attribute that directs the response to not return a value but instead redirect the user to the logon form, preferebly with the correct returnUrl value? What I did as a demo was to setup a new MVC3 site and added AspNetMembership to my DB using the aspnet_regsql.exe command. All that is setup and logging me in correctly. The behavior of the JsonResult doesn't seem right and I'm hoping I have just missed an attribute to make it work properly. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. • Stretch ListBox Items hit area to full width if the ListBox?

  I've looked around for an answer on this, but the potential duplicates are more concerned with presentation than interaction. I have a basic list box, and each item's content is a simple string. The ListBox itself is stretched to fill it's grid container, but each ListBoxItem's hitarea does not mirror the ListBox width. It looks as if the hitarea (pointer contact area) for each item is only the width of the text content. How do I make this stretch all the way across, regardless of the text size. I've set HorizontalContentAlignment to Stretch, but this doesn't solve my problem. My only other guess is that the content is actually stretching, but the background is invisible and so not capturing the mouse pointer. <ListBox Grid.Row="1" x:Name="ProjectsListBox" DisplayMemberPath="Name" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Projects}" SelectedItem="{Binding Path=SelectedProject}" HorizontalContentAlignment="Stretch"/> The XAML is pretty straight forward on this. If I mouse over the text in one of the items, then the entire width of the item becomes active. I guess I just need to know how to create an interactive background that is invisible.

• RIA Service - without database?

I need to write a RIA service to call Java webservices from Silverlight 3.0 app. I'm testing how stuff works and in my Web app I have a MyData class which has 2 properties (int ID, string Text): namespace SilverlightApplication1.Web { public class MyData { [Key] public int ID { get; set; } public string Text { get; set; } } } Then I wrote simple DomainService: [EnableClientAccess()] public class MyService : DomainService { public IQueryable<MyData> GetMyData(string Url) { // here I will call my WebService List<MyData> result = new List<MyData>(); result.Add(new MyData { ID = 1, Text = Url }); return result.AsQueryable(); } } } How can I get data into my SL app?
