  • how to remove obsolete device and network entries? Device manager "uninstall" option has no effect

    I am trying to remove a few "obsolete" things which annoy me (because I like to have everything cleen, working and not interferring with each other, fresh, etc..). I tried looking for solutions without any help, so here I am to ask. (bridging stuff, right?) I really want to remove the Wireless LAN adapter Local Area Connection entries and the adapter multiplexor stuff but it's impossible? Why is this? How can I remove them anyway?

  • Why is the JVM stack-based and the DalvikVM register based?

    I'm curious, why did Sun decide to make the JVM stack-based and Google decide to make the DalvikVM register based? I suppose the JVM can't really assume that a certain number of registers are available on the target platform, since it is supposed to be platform independent. Therefor it just postpones the register-allocation etc, to the JIT compiler. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) So the Android guys thought, "hey, that's inefficient, let's go for a register based vm right away..."? But wait, there are multiple different android devices, what number of registers did the Dalvik target? Are the Dalvik opcodes hardcoded for a certain number of registers? Do all current Android devices on the market have about the same number of registers? Or, is there a register re-allocation performed during dex-loading? How does all this fit together?

  • AVD Failed to Load ~ Failed to Parse Properties ~ Mac OSX

    I'm going to say upfront, please forgive me. I'm a newbie to android development and fairly new to programming. Also on a Mac. You're going to have to talk...real...slow. I can't get an AVD to load. I've tried it from Eclipse and from the Android SDK Manager. Failed multiple times. Received the same error each time, "Failed to parse properties from Users/myname/.android/avd/nameIGaveEmulator/config.ini." I've the forum here and saw that others have had similar problems, but of the answers given, no one came back to say if they worked, and I don't see anyone with a similar problem on a Mac. If the path needs to be "changed" what exactly does that mean and how do I go about doing so?

  • Disk Drive not working

    The CD/DVD drive on my sisters' (I'm helping her shift from Win. XP (now officially deprecated by Microsoft) to Ubuntu) system. Now, it may end up being a failed attempt, all together (Almost the whole last year (when she's been on XP) the disk drive hasn't (not even powering on) been working.), I just want to make sure I've explored every remote possibility. Because I figure, "Huh, now that I've got Ubuntu running, instead of XP, that (just) might make a difference.". I have tried using the sudo lshw command in the terminal, to (seemingly) no avil, but, who knows, you might be able to make something out of it.   • Kubuntu 12.04 - Touchpad and keyboard stopped working at random

    As in the title, I've got this problem with my Kubuntu 12.04. At first I've thought that the whole system was hung, but it happened again 5 minutes ago and, while the keyboard and the touchpad stopped working, the music was still playing, so I guess that's just an "input" problem, because the system was still working! Any solution? Is there some data that you need to know about my setup?     I've been using Ubuntu one for several years and have purchased several albums from the Ubuntu One music store. All was well while I was playing them from Rhythmbox or Banshee. However, I recently started using the U.O. streaming android app and streaming section of the one.ubuntu.com website and most of my music appears to be untagged. What is going on? Before this question is dismissed as a duplicate, let me reiterate the crucial differences: ALL of the music in my U.O. account was bought in the Ubuntu One music store. This is NOT music that I ripped or bought elsewhere The mp3s that end up on my hard drive DO appear to be tagged correctly The issue affects the U.O. Everything of course, which is why that particular toy only lasted a single holiday. Buzzfeed reports on some of the toys of holidays past that were quickly pulled off the shelves.   • MonoGame: PC + Mobile?

    I'm researching Monogame. Their goal is to allow "easy" porting of an existing XNA/Windows game to mobile. Does this mean you can have one solution (theoretically) with shared code, and it works on all three platforms (PC, Android, iPhone)? Or do you need to port your game from PC to Android, and then again to iPhone? I'm sure "write once, run anywhere" works 80% of the time, I'm not worried about that other 20% like support for GPS, acceleratometer, etc. which doesn't exist on all platforms.
