• How to debug and detect hang issue

  I am testing my application (Windows 7, WinForms, Infragistics controls, C#, .Net 3.5). I have two monitors and my application saves and restores forms' position on the first or second monitors. So I physically switched off second monitor and disabled it at Screen Resolution on the windows display settings form. I need to know it is possible for my application to restore windows positions (for those windows that were saved on the second monitor) to the first one. I switched off second monitor and press Detect to apply hardware changes. Then Windows switched OFF the first monitor for a few seconds to apply new settings. When the first monitor screen came back, my application became unresponsive. My application was launched in debug mode, so I tried to navigate via stack and threads (Visual Studio 2008), paused application, started and did not find any thing that help me to understand why my application is not responsive. Could somebody help my how to detect the source of issue.

  Hi, I see many post dealing with the UIScrollView like in the PhotoApp, but I don't really understand them, thats why I want to reopen a post about it and have a simple solution. What I want is to create (without IB) a simple UIViewController who will contain a UIScrollView (inside my scrollView there will be image and the scrollView will be set to pagingEnable to YES of course). I want to be able with a simple touch of the screen to display the navigationController.navigationBar inside my UIViewController and with another touch not displaying it of course. • Spring - disable bind exceptions (for a particular property)

  Hi all, In a web application I'm working on using Spring 2.5.6.SEC01, I essentially have an Integer field that takes a number to determine which page to scroll to. The requirements changed, and we no longer want to display an error message, but simply ignore the user's input if they enter an invalid number, say "adfadf". I was reading that you can do that via: TypeMismatch.property=Some New Error Message However, after having tried that, we are still getting the original error message: java.lang.Integer.TypeMismatch=... I only want to disable this message for that given property. How can I do that? I still want binding to occur automatically, I just don't want to hear about it now. Walter

• How would I go about building a calendar UI control for the iPhone/iPad?

  Hello. There are a few different 3rd party code frameworks that include calendar controls, but most of them have a lot of functionality I don't need, plus most of them lack sufficient documentation on how to use them and I'm not a proficient enough iPhone developer figure it out using just the code. So I'm going to attempt to build my own and I was hoping you could provide me with some high-level direction to get started. At a high level, how could I build a simple, calendar control that doesn't do much more than display a calendar (month view, with the current date highlighted) and allows the user to selected a date? Something that looks like the calendar in the upper right corner of this image... Thanks so much in advance for your help!

• Displaying untrusted HTML using PHP

  I have a read a number of excellent questions and answers today about dealing with user input. I am now using htmlspecialchars() to display user data in the create/edit forms (but accepting the raw input via prepared PDO statements into my database). The main question I know have is, what do you do when you are allowing the user to submit HTML which will then be displayed to the public. Obviously htmlspecialchars() is no longer suitable as it just encodes the tags and renders the content useless for purpose. My application is currently accepting HTML from an admin for product descriptions. This would allow a malicious admin to inject potentially unsafe data into public facing pages. How do people cope with this?

• Listing mysql row entries from tags into one single row

  Hi guys, Ive got two tables, one a listings and another representing a list of tags for the listing table. In the listings table the tag ids are stored in a field called tags as 1-2-3- this has worked out very well for me regular expressions and joins to seperate and display the data, BUT... I now need to pull the titles of those tags into a single row. See below. listings table id tags 1 1-2-3- 2 4-5-6- tags table id title 1 pig 2 dog 3 cat 4 mouse 5 elephant 6 duck And what I need to produce out of the listings table is: id tags 2 mouse, elephant, duck any suggestions?

• .net 4 Chart Control - Hide labels in pie chart

  Hello all. Am I going mad/blind? Probably a combination of the two. How does one go about removing the data labels from a pie chart with the new chart control in .net 4? I can get these to display as tooltips absolutely fine, but ultiamtely I'd like the labels not to be present as it looks rather busy. I've searched previous answers and seen code behind resolutions but surely there must be some sort of code infront option to turn these labels off? Apologies for being thick/blind.

  Hello everyone, i am designing a local database in .net with wpf as gui. I have added a new database, and added a new table. Through the TableAdapter i generated 2 statements ( 1 statement is a select stmt and 1 is a insert) , i insert name and firstname (id is auto generated). • How to catch printf from a dll?

  I've got a C++ console application that uses a third-party dll (jvm.dll, indirectly) that uses printf to print various error messages (Java stacktrace). I need to catch these stacktraces to a string in order to process them further, or at least to see them printed on the console. The thing is that I see the stacktrace only when debugging my application in VisualStudio (VS 2010). When I run my application in the "normal way", i.e. from the command line, nothing is printed on the console. So VS is able to somehow interfere the java output and display it. I need to be able to do the same thing. I've already tried freopen(), but without success. Also, I've found this question on the same problem, but without a clear answer.

• Can I add metadata to git commits? Or can I hide some tags in gitk

  I want to associate custom metadata with a git commit. Specifically to record a review ID from a code review but it could be anything. Tags seem a natural way to do that but I expect to have a review for every commit and I don't want to clutter gitk with tons of tags. Is there some other mechanism to add custom metadata? Can I make certain tags invisible? If I could tell gitk not to display tags matching some pattern or RE, that would likely work but I don't see a way to do that.

• starting subactivity for the second time causes java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

  Hi there, I am developing a simple app which does a little bit of image-processing. It's divided in two activities; the main one with some display elements and the second one which is used to capture images off the phone's camera. To discribe my problem: I start the app, capture an image (by starting a new Intent with the subactivity) and all data is displayed correctly. If I capture another image after this, I run in an java.lang.OutOfMemoryError - bitmap size exceeds VM budget I dont store the captured bitmap, in the second activity I just extract some data from it and pass it to the main-activity; finishing (finish()) the sub-activity afterwards. I really dont know what I can do about it.   Does anyone have an XML style sheet that'll convert wiki-like markup to HTML? Or is that a bad idea? I only found one style sheet that'll convert HTML to wiki-like markup, view-source:http://mozile.mozdev.org/0.8/demos/html2wiki.xsl . Or is this a bad idea? Basically, instead of following strict rules with my XML tags to format my content, I thought it'd be best to have something like this: <content> \## This is my heading </content> That way I'm free to display my content however I feel without having to modify my style sheet.   Im trying to make a simple survey in php I have a set of radio buttons on a page called sja.php that sends its to sjamail.php page the problem is that when i go to get $answer = $_POST['ans']; I can't seen to do anything like echo "$answer"; but if i were to throw some logic at it like if ($answer == "ans1") { echo 'Correct'; } else { echo 'Incorrect'; } IT will display correct or incorrect so why is it i can't access the value of the radio button ans?

I require the graph to display only the points in XML and exclude remaining thought it lies in between since it contains no data. How this can be done?

• Why does IE prompt a security warning when viewing an XML file?

  Opening an XML file in Internet explorer gives a security warning. IE has a nice collapsible tree view for viewing XML, but it's disabled by default and you get this scary error message about a potential security hole. http://www.leonmeijer.nl/archive/2008/04/27/106.aspx But why? How can simply viewing an XML file (not running any embedded macros in it or anything) possibly be a security hole? Sure, I get that running XSLT could potentially do some bad stuff, but we're not talking about executing anything. We're talking about viewing. Why can't IE simply display the XML file as text (plus with the collapsible tree viewer)? So why did they label this as a security hole? Can someone describe how simply viewing an XML document could be used as an attack document?

• Operation can only be performed on cells that belong to a DataGridView control

  The following code throws an InvalidOperationException with the above message and I don't understand why. My code calls the following method when the user may have made changes to the datagridview's underlying data source. The goal is to update the display with any changed data, and preserve the sort column and order. private void ReloadDataGridBindingListFromDatabase() { DataGridView dgv = myDataGridViewControl; DataGridViewColumn sortedColumn = dgv.SortedColumn; SortOrder sortOrder = dgv.SortOrder; //do stuff here to refresh dgv.DataSource if (sortedColumn != null) { //this line throws an exception sortedColumn.HeaderCell.SortGlyphDirection = sortOrder; } //etc. } Clearly, sortedColumn.HeaderCell is a cell that belongs to a DataGridView control. • How to debug a corrupt pdf file?

  Hi, im generating pdf files using a ruby library called "prawn". I have one particular file that seems to be considered "Corrupt" by adobe reader. It shows up fine in both preview and in adobe reader. It gives errors like: Sometimes I get: "Could not find the XObject named '%s'. Othertimes I get: "Could not find the XObject named "Im4". Then always I get: "An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem." Is there a way to open a pdf with some tool and have it tell you what is technically wrong with the pdf? Im sure I could figure it out quickly with something like this... thanks Joel

• Using query parameter in Access report

  I have a very basic access database where a query returns the sales made within a set start date and a set end date. The dates are set with two pop up boxes for the user to enter, first the start date, and then the end date. I have a report running off the back of this. How can I (using VBA) get at these dates then display them on the report - ie. the report says "Sales for Period:" and then shows the "from date" and the "to date" that the user input.

I have some resource files with text strings on different languages Resourse.resx Resourse.de-DE.resx Resourse.ru-RU.resx When I want to display UI in English I call: Resourse.Culture = new CultureInfo("en-US"); label1.Text = Resourse.LabelText; in German: Resourse.Culture = new CultureInfo("de-DE"); label1.Text = Resourse.LabelText; in Russian: Resourse.Culture = new CultureInfo("ru-RU"); label1.Text = Resourse.LabelText; but here I get PlatformNotSupportedException. I know that my WinCE does not contain Russian and I cannot modify OS to appened this, so my question is how I can say to ResourceManger to use Resourse.ru-RU.resx when I set Culture = new CultureInfo("ru-RU") ?

See: http://tinyurl.com/ylbtns2 The editor uses the css of the current template and loads an additional fix.css (inside the iframe) to override some rules: * { background-image: none !important; min-height: 0px !important; } #breadcrumbs, #content .sidebar, #footer, #header, #search_form { display: none; } #content { margin: 0px; width: 100%; } The problem: on first load the "min-height: 0px !important;" seems not to work - on second load the height of the editor iframe is 100px like it should be. Other rules like no background (fix.css) are working on first load and get overridden.

  I'm trying to return my links so they display as /Area_1419.aspx/2/1. I've managed to get that result in example 2 but I don't understand why it works, as I would exspect example 1 below to work. I don't see how Example 2 knows to go to the Area_1419 controller?
