• I can't link my Algorithms and the problem idea with writing the code?

  First ,, i have just learnt c , c++ and started with java .. i faced serious problem in the first two ones . any sort of problem i can handle with it on my mind ,, if it's much complex i use the pen and paper method , i nearly could solve any easy problem ,, but when i start to write the code i don't know what's happening i got totally lost and even the best problems i can't link the solution with the code . it's not a problem with syntax because i know the syntax well . i need to figure what's the problem and find a way to solve it !! thanks . • 12.10 sound resumes only after Suspend

  I installed the 12.10 yesterday and like 12.04 there was no sound, I have an ACER 4830 TG. I noticed that the HDMI output is working fine, but Speaker or Headphone isn't working. So I did the following: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade and still couldn't get the sound. Then I found the temp fix for this issue which is to Suspend the machine completely and resume. However, after restart the same thing happens. Is there a solution to this issue?

• Drivers are not detecting on my Dell inspiron 5420 (14R 3rd generation)

  I'm using DELL inspiron 5420 (14R 3rd generation), and tried to install ubuntu 10.10, 11.10, 12.04, 12.04.1 but each and every time it doesn't support any of my driver such as network card, wireless driver, video driver and as well as audio and touch-pad driver. audio, video and touch-pad works with their basic functionality but don't work with their full functionality. I'm a new user of ubuntu, and willing to use it permanently. In this condition I tried some solutions from the web but didn't get out from this problem. For this I'm knocking to you, If you give me the proper solution for getting out of this problem, I'll be very helpful to you all. Thanks

• Dual monitor Unity launcher opening on wrong monitor in 11.10

  I just upgraded to Oneiric and now the Unity Dash launcher is on my left screen. I really want it on my right screen. But how do I do that? Why do I want the Dash on my right screen? My left screen is a smaller older monitor that I use to read/watch documentation or keep my music player open. I work on my right screen, that is bigger and is a better monitor. I have an Nvidia card and in the nvidia settings it is setup that the right monitor is my primary monitor, but Oneiric doesn't follow this setting anymore. I thought this was a bug, but is seems to be intended behavior... https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/742544 Some poster in this thread explains that he "patched it locally", but I have no idea how to do this. Does somebody know how to do this? Or maybe there is another solution?

• Can we 301 redirect to a new page, but still publish the old content somewhere else?

  We have a page on the site which ranks well for an SEO term (top 5) but contains old information. We have added a new page but Google doesn't rank it that well. Information on these pages is time sensitive. Old: example.com/2013-related-information.html New: example.com/2014-related-information.html Obvious solution is to delete old page and do a 301 redirect to the new page. Now, can we still keep the old page by giving it a new URL. example.com/2013-related-information.html is redirected to example.com/2014-related-information.html example.com/2014-related-information.html is recreated with a new address such as example.com/new-2013-related-information.html What we are trying to do is to send the user to the fresh page but still not destroying the record copy if someone wants to go and dig up the old information.

• Good analytics tools that can track visitor actions from a particular source?

  Are there good tools that can track what actions a certain subset of visitors (i.e. from a particular source) do once they're on your site? As far as I know (which could be wrong), Google Analytics can't do this beyond telling you how long they stayed, bounce rate, and average number of pages. I'm looking for something that can tell me which links they clicked on, and if possible break it down per-visitor. Free solutions would be great, but I'm anticipating that this would require a paid solution.

• Installed thinkfan, should I keep it?

  Well I did fixed my overheating problem on my Lenovo T500 with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. At the same time I did install Thinkfan. But since I have a solution for overheating now, I would like to know if there is any really good reason to keep it? My fan speed without it was cca 3000 RPM. When it installed droped to 2500RPM in idle time. Thinkpad have very quiet fans, so I don't really hear the noise when is on 3000RPM (no difference between 2000 or 3000 RPM). Is it better for processor to have more air or more air brings just more dust? Silly question but I would REALLY want to know the reason of keeping thinkfan.

  My development env. is, Win7 Ultimate Ruby 1.9.2p180 Rails 3.0.9 Gem 1.8.5 sqlite3 and mysql2 gems are installed My IDE is netbeans 7.0. ruby plugin for netbeans 7.0 is installed. i want to create a new rails app thru netbeans. but it hangs at the process of 25%. does someone hit the same issue? Is there a solution? From the output, i can see the rails app file structures are created. I know some of you may suggest me to use linux to develop rails app. that's an option. but i am newer to linux. i'd like to use win7 at present.

  I am a Hetzner level 19 shared hosting client and would like to change the A-record for my domain. When I log in to konsoleh, I see which IP-address it points to at the moment, but not where I can change it. Does anyone know how to do it? Thanks! Solution I called Hetzner support. It was because I had to log in with my client id, not with my domain. Then I could just click on the A-record and edit it.

• Dell Inspiron N5110 Battery lasts only for 1.5 hours as opposed to 4 hours on Windows 7

  I've a Dell Inspiron N5110 laptop with the following specs: i5 processor 4 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GT540M Ubuntu 12.04LTS My laptop is overheating and the battery is lasting for only about 1.5 hours. I had checked if the battery indicator was problematic but it turned out it wasn't. I drained the battery to it's least possible value and that came to around 1 hr 40 minutes. In fact, I've the same problem with Debian and Xubuntu as well. I would like to get some proper solution for this. FYI: I've been having this problem since Ubuntu 11.04 but I'm not able to solve this in spite of trying various fixes like reducing brightness, Removing startup apps, Updating kernel and what not?. I'm a big fan of Ubuntu but this problem is stopping me from using Ubuntu and I'm using Win7 for 90% of the time.

  Been testing out different webmail options to use (so far AfterLogic, Horde) And it seems that there is no options to change password for user. It's really bad thing that i have to go to server and manually change passwords for users. Is there any webmail solution that will allow me to change password, that also changes on server (as client). Or is it server setting i must use before? Or it is not possible?   I was trying to deploy a SharePoint App for the first time and ran into an error about SideLoading not being enabled on the site. The solution is fairly simple – you just have enable the Developer feature on the site.  Unfortunately, it’s a hidden feature so you have to do it through PowerShell.  While searching the internet for the command to enable the feature I kept running into really long scripts that seemed overly complicated.  Fortunately, Jeff (a friend at work) sent me this snippet that is very concise and does the job: Enable-SPFeature e374875e-06b6-11e0-b0fa-57f5dfd72085 –url http://yoursharepointbox/site/ Obviously, you will need to update the URL to match your environment!

  I am interested in installing Rational Developer for Power 8.0.3 (RDPi) on Ubuntu 12.04. I would like to know if other Ubuntu users have run into issues? Is it recommended or should I just stick to using RDPi in Windows 7 in VirtualBox? I have done some research, but could not divine a solution. • XNA Octree with batching

  I'm integrating batching in my engine. However I'm using an octree which is auto generated around my scene. Now batching renders a hole group at ones while an octree sorts out which objects that should be rendered within the camera frustum, therefore dividing the group. Batching and octree doesn't go along very well, right? Problem: The way I see it I have two options, either create batch groups based on objects who are close to one another within the octree or I can rebuild the batching matrixbuffer for the instances visible each frame. Which approach should I go with or does there exist another solution?

• External monitor with NO mouse cursor

  I am using a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo L7310 laptop computer with an external monitor. I'm wishihg to use version 10.04. The problem is, when I plug my laptop into the external monitor with my laptop screen turned either on or off, I do not see the mouse cursor on the external monitor! The mouse cursor is still there, although invisible. If I connect the external monitor to my laptop before swithing both on, the same happens. Is there any solution to make the cursor appear on the monitor?

Often I'll try to use an existing solution such as Wordpress or Drupal. Now that I'm thinking of creating my own web application with businesses as the target group, I feel there's a need for proper analysis and design. • Why is the font spacing on some websites broken?

  I am using Ubuntu 12.04 on a Dell Studio 15 and so far am really impressed. I could not find a solution for my problem by googling. The fonts on some websites do not have proper spacing. they overlap and are very hard to read that way. I am using the Ubuntu standard fonts and have not changed them after installing.   In the coming months we're going to begin a project where we take a system we've built for a client (v1) and rebuild it from scratch. Our goal with v2 is to make it modular, so that this specific client will have their own set of modules they use, then another client may use a different set of modules altogether. The trick here is that Company A might have a series of checkout and user modules that change how that system works. Company B might stick with the standard checkout procedure but customize how products are browsed. What are some good approaches to application architecture when you're building an application from scratch that you want to have a Core that's shared among all clients while still maintaining the flexability for anything to be modified specifically for a client? I've seen CodeIgniter's hooks and don't think that's a good solution as we could end up with 250 hooks and it's still not flexible enough. What are some other solutions? Ideally we won't need to draw a line in the sand.
