  • How do I get the current time in a Windows 7 gadget?

    - by norlando02
    For my first windows gadget I'm trying to make one that displays the current time and date. The code below is what I have, but I can't figure out why the javascript is not running. Any ideas? <html> <head> http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=Unicode" /> <title>Clock</title> <style type="text/css"> body { width: 130px; height: 60px; margin: 1 1 1 2; } body { font-family: Segoe UI, Arial; font-size: 11px; font-weight: bold; white-space: nowrap; } </style> <script type="text/javascript"> var background; var interval; var connection_id; var timeZone; var now; function load() { try { interval = 1000; connection_id = 0; timeZone = System.Time.currentTimeZone; update(); } catch(e){} } function update() { try { now = new Date(Date.parse(System.Time.getLocalTime(timeZone))); curDate.innerHTML = now.format('M jS, Y'); curTime.innerHTML = now.format('h:i:s A'); clearTimeout(connection_id); connection_id = setTimeout("update()", interval); } catch(e) {} </script> </head> <body onload="load()"> <div id="curDate"> </div> <div id="curTime"> </div> </body> </html>

  • XAML get new width and height for Canvas

    - by Jack Navarro
I have searched through many times but have not seen this before. Probably really simple question but can't wrap my head around it. Wrote a VSTO add-in for Excel that draws a Grid dynamically. Then launches a new window and replaces the contents of the Canvas with the generated Grid. The problem is with printing. When I call the print procedure the canvas.height and canvas.width returned is the old value prior to replacing it with the grid. Sample: string="<Grid Name=\"CanvasGrid\" xmlns=\"http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation\">..Lots of stuff..</Grid>"; // Launch new window and replace the Canvas element WpfUserControl newWindow = new WpfUserControl(); newWindow.Show(); //To test MessageBox.Show(myCanvas.ActualWidth.ToString()); //return 894 Grid testGrid = myCanvas.FindName("CanvasGrid") as Grid; MessageBox.Show("Grid " + testGrid.ActualWidth.ToString()); //return 234 StringReader stringReader = new StringReader(LssAllcChrt); XmlReader xmlReader = XmlReader.Create(stringReader); Canvas myCanvas = newWindow.FindName("GrphCnvs") as Canvas; myCanvas.Children.Clear(); myCanvas.Children.Add((UIElement)XamlReader.Load(xmlReader)); //To test MessageBox.Show(myCanvas.ActualWidth.ToString()); //return 894 but should be much larger the Grid spans all three of my screens Grid testGrid = myCanvas.FindName("CanvasGrid") as Grid; MessageBox.Show("Grid " + testGrid.ActualWidth.ToString()); //return 234 but should be much larger the Grid spans all three of my screens //Run code from WpfUserControl.cs after it loads from button click Grid testGrid = canvas.FindName("CanvasGrid") as Grid; MessageBox.Show("Grid " + testGrid.ActualWidth.ToString()); //return 234 but should be much larger the Grid spans all three of my screens So basically I have no way of telling what my new width and height are.

  • Drupal development workflow for teams

    - by Raul Singahn
In my last Drupal project we were 5 people doing coding and installing new modules, at the same type our client was putting up content. Since we chose to have only one server for simplicity there were times were many people needed to write to the same files like style.css or page.tpl.php or when someones broken code would prevent others from working Are there any best practises for a team that works with Drupal? How can leverage code repositories or sandboxes?

  • Using setters On Int?

    - by fuzzygoat
Just curious, given: unsigned int pulseCounter_001; @property(nonatomic, assign)unsigned int pulseCounter_001; @synthesize pulseCounter_001; Is there any reason to use: [self setPulseCounter_001:0]; Or just use: pulseCounter_001 = 0; Style wise I think the latter says "we are setting an int" better, just curious as to any overheads involved in each? gary

  • Facebook Like Button (<fb:like>) Height Always 80px

    - by David
Why is the height of my Facebook Like button (technically the iframe that gets generated) always getting set to 80px? Example page is here: http://www.davidkasper.net/test.html I am using the javascript sdk and have had it work on other pages but for some reason the height will not change dynamically on this one! I can even do something like <fb:like style="height:40px"> and that will indeed set the visible height, but the iframe will still be 80px, whereas I can see it changing in the demo at http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like

  • slowness in IE 8 IE9 while drawing tables in a html page

    - by GustlyWind
My HTML page contains many tables, with numerous tr and td. While rendering in IE8/IE9 the its very slow but in Firefox its fast. I had read somewhere while drawing tables if the tables are not of fixed width, IE calculates the width every time and renders so usually slow. Right now i am adding Table style="table-layout:fixed" which made me feel its faster. Are there any similar styles that can be added to tr and td as well. Also suggest if there any other attribtes that can be added to a table

  • WPF button template alignment not setting correctly

    - by Dave Colwell
Hi guys, I have created a button template consisting of a border and a content presenter. A style is then wrapped around this template and applied to a button, when this button is used it is not carrying the values for horizontal and vertical alignment. In the designer the allignments are showing and the button is in the correct place, but when i run the program the button appears to have horizontal alignment = left and vertical alignment = right. Any ideas?

  • Rails routes matching query parameters

    - by Harry Wood
Rails routes are great for matching RESTful style '/' separated bits of a URL, but can I match query parameters in a map.connect config. I want different controllers/actions to be invoked depending on the presence of a parameter after the '?'. I was trying something like this... map.connect "api/my/path?apple=:applecode", :controller = 'apples_controller', :action = 'my_action' map.connect "api/my/path?banana=:bananacode", :controller = 'bananas_controller', :action = 'my_action' For routing purposes I don't care about the value of the parameter, as long as it is available to the controller in the 'params' hash

  • css layout for footer at bottom with dynamic ajax content changing height of page

    - by m42
[Update] I actually compromised on this problem for now by foregoing the fixed footer design. It seems that there is no problem with dynamic content moving the footer and resizing containers appropriately unless the footer is fixed to the browser bottom initially. I hope others will eventually provide a great solution that encompasses the best of both worlds. I spent all day trying to get the footer to move down the page to accommodate dynamically added (via ajax) content. I really need some pointers or links because I haven't found anything that helps. Basically: My site has some pages that begin with only a text box and a button so that the total height of the content area is only a few inches beneath the header area. I don't have any problem getting the sticky footer working so that the footer appears at the bottom of the browser window even when there is very little content on screen. That same css layout works fine for other pages that have content that extends beneath the browser window. The catch: The content has to be rendered and passed to the browser with the initial load. The Problem: Any content that is added to the page via AJAX after the initial load paints down the page correctly -- but the footer remains in its initial location. Please tell me there is a fix for this. I can't post the css until checking with my boss first - if possible - and if needed, I will later - but it's just a very basic version of the many sticky footer css solutions floating around the web. Thanks.

  • Round bottom corners on Android Bitmap?

    - by alex
Hey all, what would be best practice for clipping the bottom borders of a Bitmap? Just manipulate the Bitmap itself or overlay an alpha mask drawable or ...? The whole story: I've a Listview which looks like the iPhone's grouped UITableView style. I would like to display a Bitmap in the last row, but for now the Bitmap overlaps my custom background drawable of the Listview cell. Thx in advance!

  • Rails learn's confusion

    - by Steve
This is a beginner's rails learning confusion. When I learn rails, from time to time, I feel frustrated on rails' principle "Convention over Configuration". Rails uses heavily on conventions. A lot of them are just naming conventions. If I forget a convention, I will either use the wrong naming and get unexpected result or get things magically done but don't understand how. Sometimes, I think of configuration. At least configuration lists everything clearly and nothing is in fog. In rails, there seems a hidden, dark contract between you and the machine. If you follow the contract, you communicate well. But a beginner usually forgets items listed on the contract and this usually leads to confusion. That's why when I first pick up rails, I feel like it is somehow difficult to learn. Besides, there are many other things that could be new to a learner, such as using git, using plugins from community, using RESTful routing style, using RSpec. All these are new and come together in learning ruby and rails. This definitely adds up difficulties for a beginner. In contrast, if you learn php, it wouldn't be that bad. You can forget many things and focus on learning php itself. You don't need to learn database handling if you know SQL already(in rails, you need to learn a whole new concept migration), you don't have to learn a new decent unit test(in rails, usually they teach RSpec along the way because rails is agile and you should learn test-driven development in the early learning stage), you don't have to learn a new version control(in rails, you will be taught about git anyway), you don't have to use complicated plugins(in rails, they usually use third-party plugins in textbook examples! what the hell? why not teach how to do a simplified similar thing in rails?), you don't have to worry RESTful style. All in all, when I learn php, I learn it quick and soon I start to write things myself. Learning php is similar to learning C/java. It tastes like those traditional languages. When I learn rails, it is more difficult. And I need to learn ruby as well (I believe many of you learn ruby just because of rails). Does anyone have the similar feeling as I have? How do you overcome it and start to master rails? Hints will be welcomed. Thank you.

  • What is the naming convention in Python for variable and function names?

    - by Ray Vega
Coming from a C# background the naming convention for variables and method names are usually either CamelCase or Pascal Case: // C# example string thisIsMyVariable = "a" public void ThisIsMyMethod() In Python, I have seen the above but I have also seen underscores being used: # python example this_is_my_variable = 'a' def this_is_my_function(): Is there a more preferable, definitive coding style for Python?

  • GUI Agent accepts statuses from Daemon and shows it using progress indicator

    - by Pavel
Hi to all! My application is a GUI agent, which communicate with daemon through the unix domain socket, wrapped in CFSocket.... So there are main loop and added CFRunLoop source. Daemon sends statuses and agent shows it with a progress indicator. When there are any data on socket, callback function begin to work and at this time I have to immediately show the new window with progress indicator and increase counter. //this function initiate the runloop for listening socket - (int) AcceptDaemonConnection:(ConnectionRef)conn { int err = 0; conn->fSockCF = CFSocketCreateWithNative(NULL, (CFSocketNativeHandle) conn->fSockFD, kCFSocketAcceptCallBack, ConnectionGotData, NULL); if (conn->fSockCF == NULL) err = EINVAL; if (err == 0) { conn->fRunLoopSource = CFSocketCreateRunLoopSource(NULL, conn->fSockCF, 0); if (conn->fRunLoopSource == NULL) err = EINVAL; else CFRunLoopAddSource(CFRunLoopGetCurrent(), conn->fRunLoopSource, kCFRunLoopDefaultMode); CFRelease(conn->fRunLoopSource); } return err; } // callback function void ConnectionGotData(CFSocketRef s, CFSocketCallBackType type, CFDataRef address, const void * data, void * info) { #pragma unused(s) #pragma unused(address) #pragma unused(info) assert(type == kCFSocketAcceptCallBack); assert( (int *) data != NULL ); assert( (*(int *) data) != -1 ); TStatusUpdate status; int nativeSocket = *(int *) data; status = [agg AcceptPacket:nativeSocket]; // [stWindow InitNewWindow] inside [agg SendUpdateStatus:status.percent]; } AcceptPacket function receives packet from the socket and trying to show new window with progress indicator. Corresponding function is called, but nothing happens... I think, that I have to make work the main application loop with interrupting CFSocket loop... Or send a notification? No idea....

  • Android Simple way for User Color Selections

    - by miannelle
How can you change application colors on the fly? I am currently using the following to change the background: LinearLayout mScreen = (LinearLayout) findViewById(R.id.main); mScreen.setBackgroundColor( mycolor ); I tried to use Style's to change the text using: @color/white The problem is that Spinners/Buttons and Spinner-Popup-Lists all change to white text as well, making them unreadable. I have over 20 Classes in my app that all need to be able to change color combination's.
