  • Wireless disabled after connecting ethernet cable

    Im using Linux Mint 13. Wireless has always worked fine but stopped yesterday after I connected to the internet via an ethernet cable. I ran: sudo rfkill list gives me: 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: yes Hard blocked: no sudo rfkill unblock 0 sudo rfkill list gives me 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no sudo service networking start results in: networking stop/waiting The contents of /etc/network/interfaces is auto lo iface lo inet loopback Any ideas what I can do?

  • Port forwarding to asp.net development server

    I have configured my router so that I can access my localhost from internet. But I can't manage to port forward it to asp.net development server. In router's port forwarding I did the same thing as for the localhost but only changed port number so that it is the same as the one that is assigned to my application, but this doesn't work.   • Need Windows XP VGA driver for i3 Haswell

    Background: I have recently upgraded my hardware because the previous Pentium system started failing to the point that it would not run long enough to boot. It was obviously a hardware fault, but I had no way of knowing whether it was in the motherboard, CPU or memory. Not all the components were now available, so I decided to replace all three. In order to get some benefit from the expenditure, I though I would put in faster components, and for future-proofing went for recently released ones: MSI Z87-G41-PCMate and Intel i3-4130 with 4400 HD graphics. The system performs excellently with Ubuntu 13.10, so I know there are no hardware problems, but I need to continue running XP because it runs several thousand pounds (UK) worth of software, which meets my needs more than adequately: in some cases there is no longer support for later Windows releases, and in most others an expensive and to me unnecessary upgrade is required. Problem: The motherboard specifications claim Windows XP support for the live driver update utility, which misled me into believing that XP drivers were available. Not true: Intel have apparently refused to provide XP drivers for Haswell chips. The update program runs on XP, but finds no suitable Intel drivers. The system is more or less running on the default fail-safe VGA driver, but DirectX will not load, which stops a number of my applications from running. I have been trawling the internet for a month now, but I have not found a graphics driver which will load successfully: all show "This device cannot start. (code 10)". I don't need HDMI support: my monitor is 1280x1024 and connected through the VGA port, so all I need is a driver which will handle this resolution well enough to support DirectX. Has anyone found a driver which will do this? Please don't reply with information found from internet searches, unless you have actually solved this problem: be assured that I have been all round the houses looking at solutions which others have reported as working, but none of them does for me. Incidentally, I did find an Intel HD sound driver which XP accepts (winxp_145111.exe from Intel), though without connecting to an HDMI port on a TV or sound system I have no idea if it works in practice. However, the graphics section of the same driver fails, like all the others I've tried.

  • ubuntu eth0 not reconnecting after cable unplugged

    I'm running kubuntu 9.10 w/ gnome, I have a static IP defined in /etc/network/interfaces When I unplugged my network cable and rebooted, then reconnected the network cable I was not able to connect. I tried using sudo ifup eth0, and then ifconfig and it seemed as though the IP address had been assigned and I was connected, but I wasn't. I then did ifdown eth0, and again ifup eth0. For some reason I'm not able to access the network. Furthermore, I also attempted to connect via wlan, and was able to connect to the wireless network, but cannot "see" the network. I can't transfer data or access the internet or anything on the network including the router.     Firefox adoption in the home/personal user base seems to be growing fine, but adoption in the enterprise is not going anywhere quickly. My view on this is because SysAdmins are not promoting it within the organisations because Internet Explorer has features which make it more acceptable to an enterprise, such as Managing settings via GPO Integration into the rest of the update stack Support of common business applications So what would you add to Firefox to get it more promotion by SysAdmins in the enterprise?

  • Is there a way to host email with snow leopard server on site?

    We are faced with a dilemma with using snow leopard. We want to have thr snow leopard server on site and not off site because it makes sense to have the server in the network physically for other services (file sharing, VPN, wiki etc) but our office does not have a very reliable Internet connection so it'd hard to host the email with it. We don't want to factor out the email as a separate server because we want to enjoy a single user login across everything. How do we get around this dilemma?

I need any (easy to remember) IP address. By example, google ip is 72.14.204.147. Cool, but it's hard to remember... What external IP you use?   • slow pppoe connection using Ubuntu 9.10

    I have a Compaq Presario CQ61, instaled Ubuntu 9.10 and Windows 7 on it. It works great except the PPPoE connection in Ubuntu, when i dial in Windows my download speed reach up to 91 Mb, rebooted in Ubuntu, downloaded same file from the same server with a speed of maximum 3 Mb, cheked in Windows again 80 - 90 Mb constant. I can't figure what slow's the internet connection in Ubuntu. Anyone has an ideea on this problem ? (NO iptables configured, NO HTB, CBQ ...etc configured) . Thank you

However server residing on the network should not pass their traffic through the access server their VPN facing services should be accessible, but their internet connections should not pas through the access server. So how can I enable NAT on a per client basis using OpenVPN?

I am trying to upgrade from windows xp sp3 (Media Centre edition) Steps I've followed: Clean install from XP SP3 Professional disc Installed all drivers downloaded upgrade advisor and ran where it just closed after like 2 seconds without even showing the screen changed to have a selected startup after finding guidance on the internet, this still did not make a difference Does anybody have an idea? Right now, in our system, Firefox 10 and IE 8 are cleared as 'good-to-use', but Chrome isn't.   • WebGL Not working in FF4b7 (with enabled_for_all_sites=true)

    I was trying to load the cool Kataspace WebGL demo (more info) and I get the error message "Your browser doesn't support WebGL. Currently we recommend the latest Firefox 4 Beta for all platforms." I checked around and every piece of advice I can find on the internet says to set webgl.enabled_for_all_sites to true in the about:config page. Mine is set to true yet I still receive the same message. Does anyone know of any other items that may be conflicting with WebGL running properly?

  • Has the hardware in my modem gone bad?

    I contacted CenturyLink about my modem recently and received useless and unrelated information. The problem seems to be that the modem will no longer save settings, the web interface is unusable except in internet explorer for some reason, and the modem keeps resetting. CenturyLink claimed it had to do with signal strength but I checked and it is currently between good and outstanding according to this. All of the lights remain green even when it starts acting up and I lose internet and shortly before it crashes and reboots. Does anyone have any idea what is going on or what I can do to fix it? (Asking CenturyLink again is obviously not going to help.) Update 1: Accessing the syslog from the web interface causes a crash.   • gotomypc and aircard?

    My boss is looking at getting an aircard ( internet over cell network ) for his laptop. One of the uses he mentioned was gotomypc. I couldn't find good information on it, but I was thinking it would blow out the bandwidth because it was like streaming a movie. Is gotomypc really feasible with an aircard at this point?
