  • Loading views dynamically

    Case 1: I have created View-based sample application and tried execute below code. When I press on "Job List" button it should load another view having "Back Btn" on it. In test function, if I use [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; nothing gets loaded, but if I use [self presentModalViewController:jbc animated:YES]; it loads another view haveing "Back Btn" on it. Case 2: I did create another Navigation Based Applicaton and used [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; it worked as I wanted. Can someone please explain why it was not working in Case 1.   • _NSAutoreleaseNoPool Breaking but No Helpful Stack Trace

    I am getting the message: * _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3f43660 of class UICFFont autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking I have placed a break point using the symbol _NSAutoreleaseNoPool and the program does break, however, the stack trace does not show me any of my code only some UIView and Core Animation layer code. Is there a better way to get to the bottom of the issue? There is apparently a thread that does not have an auto release pool, but I can't figure out where. Thanks.

  • How to scroll the content without scrolling the image in the background using UIScrollView ?

    I am trying to scroll the content without scrolling the image in the background using UIScrollView. I am using IB and setting the FileOwner View to point to the Scroll View (Image View is a child of the Scroll view). I have made the image height to be 960 pixels. I have also set scrolling content size in the vierController that owns this UIView (void)viewDidLoad { UIScrollView *tempScrollView = (UIScrollView *)self.view; tempScrollView.contentSize=CGSizeMake(320, 960); } My problem is that the Image only appears moves along with the content. I have tried taking out the settings in viewDidLoad, but the scrolling cease to function. I have also tried changing the location of the image and have it placed under VIEW instead of Scoll View (by the way Scroll View is a child of VIEW), but that resulted in the app breaking (termination error). Any advice would be appreciated.

Table Scrolling is too slow. If comment the above code, then UITable responds very fast. Memory Management. My app started using 25 - 30 MB of RAM. Is there any better way to avoid the above two problems?

    Hello. I'm building a game that uses Game Center to connect players and manage leaderboards and achievements. I see that you can retrieve leaderboard details for any player, but can you do the same with achievements? When the user finishes a match with an opponent, I'd like to give the user the option to view the opponents profile, including leaderboard scores and completed achievements. I haven't found anything in the docs that shows me how to retrieve achievement details for players other than the local player, am I missing it or is this currently not supported?     Hey guys! I'm new to Objective C and I need a little help. I've created a UITableView in a UIViewController. I'd like to know how to populate my UITableView dynamically. The data is a bunch of labels that I've stored in a NSMutableArray. So each row displays the contents of the array. Once the array is reloaded with fresh data, the second row will then keep displaying the data as it is added to the array. Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Is it okay for multiple objects to retain the same object in Objective-C/Cocoa?

    Say I have a tableview class that lists 100 Foo objects. It has: @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray* fooList; and I fill it up with Foos like: self.fooList = [NSMutableArray array]; while (something) { Foo* foo = [[Foo alloc] init]; [fooList addObject:foo]; [foo release]; } First question: because the NSMutableArray is marked as retain, that means all the objects inside it are retained too? Am I correctly adding the foo and releasing the local copy after it's been added to the array? Or am I missing a retain call? Then if the user selects one specific row in the table and I want to display a detail Foo view I call: FooView* localView = [[FooView alloc] initWithFoo:[self.fooList objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:localView animated:YES]; [localView release]; Now the FooView class has: @property (nonatomic, retain) Foo* theFoo; so now BOTH the array is holding on to that Foo as well as the FooView. But that seems okay right? When the user hits the back button dealloc will be called on FooView and [theFoo release] will be called. Then another back button is hit and dealloc is called on the tableview class and [fooList release] is called. You might argue that the FooView class should have: @property (nonatomic, assign) Foo* theFoo; vs. retain. But sometimes the FooView class is called with a Foo that's not also in an array. So I wanted to make sure it was okay to have two objects holding on to the same other object.

    How do I use comma-separated-value file received from a URL query in Objective-c? when I query the URL I get csv such as "OMRUAH=X",20.741,"3/16/2010","1:52pm",20.7226,20.7594. How do I capture and use this for my application? My problem is creating/initializing that NSString object in the first place. An example is this link "http://download.finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?s=GBPEUR=X&f=sl1d1t1ba&e=.csv" which returns csv. I dont know how to capture this as an object since I cannot use an NSXMLParser object.

    i would like to convert the touch location as a world coordinate in my tile game. With this code, i clicked on the right of the screen (so that my character walks in the tiled game, and the background goes slowly to the left) : - (void)ccTouchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { for( UITouch *touch in touches ) { CGPoint location = [touch locationInView: [touch view]]; location = [[CCDirector sharedDirector] convertToGL: location]; CGPoint test = [self convertToWorldSpace:location]; CCLOG(@"test : %.2g", test.x); The test log gives me : 50, 72, 1e+02, 2.6e+02, 4.2e+02, (and then goes down) 3.2e+02, 9.5, -1.9e+02, etc. Does anyone know why? I would like to calculate the "real" coordinate of the touch, so that i know when the character has to keep going (click on the right of its actual position) or if he has to turn and go backwards.     This is an agonizingly rookie question, but here I am learning a new language and framework, and I'm trying to answer the question "What is Truth?" as pertains to Obj-C. I'm trying to lazy-load images across the network. I have a data class called Event that has properties including: @property (nonatomic, retain) UIImage image; @property (nonatomic, retain) UIImage thumbnail; in my AppDelegate, I fetch up a bunch of data about my events (this is an app that shows local arts event listings), and pre-sets each event.image to my default "no-image.png". Then in the UITableViewController where I view these things, I do: if (thisEvent.image == NULL) { NSLog(@"Going for this item's image"); UIImage *tempImage = [UIImage imageWithData:[NSData dataWithContentsOfURL: [NSURL URLWithString: [NSString stringWithFormat: @"http://www.mysite.com/content_elements/%@_image_1.jpg", thisEvent.guid]]]]; thisEvent.image = tempImage; } We never get that NSLog call. Testing thisEvent.image for NULLness isn't the thing. I've tried == nil as well, but that also doesn't work.
