• Best neural network for certain type of pattern analysis?

  Hi All, I'm working on a system that will send telemetry data on machine operation back to a central server for analysis. One of the machine parameters we're measuring is motor current drawn vs time. After an operation is finished we plan to send back an array of currents vs time to the server. A successful operation would have a pattern like a trapezoid, problematic operations would have a pattern completely different, more like a large spike in values. Can anyone recommend a type of neural network that would be good at classifying these 1D vectors of current values into a pass/fail type output? Thanks, Fred

• jQuery .html() vs .text() produce different result in .hover() function

  I have a issue where in I am using the .hover() function. If I use .text() fuction to add the html (anchor tag) which I am dynamically creating, it works fine, both the functions are called as desired.   How would i pass some parameters to a new thread that runs a function from another class ?   I'm pretty new to the world of RSpec. I'm writing a RubyGem that processes a list of files within a specified directory and any sub-directories. Specifically, it will use Find.find and append the files to an Array for later output. I'd like to write a spec to test this behaviour but don't really know where to start in terms of faking a directory of files and stubbing Find.find etc. This is what little I have so far: it "should return a list of files within the specified directory" do end Any help much appreciated!

• Slide Effect happening too many times

  Hello all, I call this functions on onmouseover and onmouseout for several divs. //Takes effect on divs with id, 62,63,64,65... function slide_it(id){ $('#options_'+id).slideToggle('slow'); } The problem is that if I move my mouse over and then mouse out, then again, mouse over and then mouse out. If I do this several times, the slide effect happens the same number of times I moved my mouse over and out of the div, as expected. But I can't figure out how I can do this once? I can set a variable, but I have several divs that this function is used by and I can't think of a simple way of doing this rather than storing things into an array, but this is messy! I really appreciate any help on this that is simple to implement! Thanks all for any help

  I have an array of divs and I want to iterate over each div and pass it to sparklines. like so: var divs = $("#wrapper>div"); var data = ["1:2:3:4", "4:3:2:3:1"]; var i; for(i = 0; i<data.length; i++){ divs[i].sparkline(data[i]); } I get the error "divs[i].sparkline" is not a function. But if I do this divs.sparkline([1,2,3,4]); its fine all the divs get the linegraph but with the same data. Does anyone have any suggestions but how to use sparkline when iterating over divs?   A very simple code to illustrate the difference. var x = [0, 3, 1, 2]; console.debug('debug', x); console.log('log', x); // above display the same result x.splice(1, 2); // below display kind of a different result console.debug('debug', x); console.log('log', x); The javascript value is exactly the same but console.log() displays it a bit differently than before applying splice() method. Because of this I lost quite a few hours as I thought splice is acting funny making my array multidimensional or something. I just want to know why does this work like that. Does anyone know? :)

  Hi. I'm building a simple app and trying to test DB result output. But unfortunately all I'm getting is an array of size 0. Here's the controller code excerpt: $data['query'] = $this->db->query('SELECT role_id, role_privilege FROM role'); $this->load->view('welcome_message', $data); And a view code excerpt: <?php echo count($query->result_array())."<br/>"; foreach ($query->result() as $row){ echo $row->role_id . '<br/>'; echo $row->role_privilege . '<br/>'; } echo 'Total result '.$query->num_rows(); ?> And what I get is next: 0 Total result Running query from a command line gives a 2 rowed output. Can someone point out what i'm missing?

  I use the following block of code to read lines out of a file 'f' into a nested list: for data in f: clean_data = data.rstrip() data = clean_data.split('\t') t += [data[0]] strmat += [data[1:]] Sometimes, however, the data is incomplete and a row may look like this: ['955.159', '62.8168', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '29', '30', '0', '0'] It puts a spanner in the works because I would like Python to implicitly cast my list as floats but the empty fields '' cause it to be cast as an array of strings (dtype: s12). I could start a second 'if' statement and convert all empty fields into NULL (since 0 is wrong in this instance) but I was unsure whether this was best. Is this the best strategy of dealing with incomplete data? Should I edit the stream or do it post-hoc?

How can I get it to create a style tag with some dynamically generated rules in e.g. <style type="text/css" media="all">p {font-size:1.5em}</style> I am trying to do this in a view file, I'd like the CSS to be placed in the head tag, and I'm using CakePHP 1.2.7

• Python 2.7 creating a multidimensional list

  I don't know why I am having so much trouble creating a 3 dimensional list. I need the program to create an empty n by n list. So for n = 4: x = [[[],[],[],[]],[[],[],[],[]],[[],[],[],[]],[[],[],[],[]]] I've tried using: y = [n*[n*[]]] y = [[[]]* n for i in range(n)] Which both appear to be creating copies of a reference. I've also tried naieve application of the list builder with little success: y = [[[]* n for i in range(n)]* n for i in range(n)] y = [[[]* n for i in range(1)]* n for i in range(n)] I've also tried building up the array iteratively using loops, with no success. In my rapid flurry of attempts to not post something stupidly easy to SO, I came upon a solution: y = [] for i in range(0,n): y.append([[]*n for i in range(n)]) Is there an easier/ more intuitive way of doing this?

• Windows C++: LPCTSTR vs const TCHAR

  In my application i'm declaring a string variable near the top of my code to define the name of my window class which I use in my calls to RegisterClassEx, CreateWindowEx etc.. Now, I know that an LPCTSTR is a typedef and will eventually follow down to a TCHAR (well a CHAR or WCHAR depending on whether UNICODE is defined), but I was wondering whether it would be better to use this: static LPCTSTR szWindowClass = TEXT("MyApp"); Or this: static const TCHAR szWindowClass[] = TEXT("MyApp"); I personally prefer the use of the LPCTSTR as coming from a JavaScript, PHP, C# background I never really considered declaring a string as an array of chars. But are there actually any advantages of using one over the other, or does it in fact not even make a difference as to which one I choose? Thank you, in advanced, for your answers.

  Hi: I'm start using cakephp and i made a demo app using AjaxHelper $ajax->link('title', 'url', array('update' => 'mydiv')) Now i want to migrate that to cakephp 1.3 and AjaxHelper is deprecated on cake 1.3 and will be removed, so i want to accomplish the same with JsHelper which is replacing the functionality of AjaxHelper and JavascriptHelper I just can't find how to do that. I want to upgrade the versions to use jQuery out of the box with cakephp 1.3 and get rid of Prototype javascript library. so, any help ? I've already read the migration guide and nothing found yet.
