• webmin bind issue- error when i try to start bind

  I am setting up a domain = mydomain.com with 2 nameservers ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com in Webmin - BIND. For this, I have registered 2 child nameservers at my domain registrar, and in Webmin-Bind I have set up a new zone for this domain. In this zone, i have specified 2 nameserver records- one each for ns1 and ns2. Also, I have defined 2 address records- one each for ns1.mydomain.com -> IP Address #1 and for ns2.mydomain.com -> IP Address #2 However when I try to start BIND in Webmin, I get the following error-- Failed to start BIND : Starting named: Error in named configuration: zone mydomain.com/IN: has no NS records zone mydomain.com/IN: not loaded due to errors. _default/mydomain.com/IN: bad zone [FAILED]

• Clonezilla restore from Samba - no 'restoredisk' option

  I used a CloneZilla LiveCD to back up a couple of Windows machines to a Samba share. Now I'm trying to restore those images, and CloneZilla won't even give me the 'restoredisk' or 'restorepart' options on the menu. I'm guessing that this is because CZ isn't recognizing a valid image... but why? Edit: I've copied the contents of the folder onto a 16GB USB stick and set THAT as /home/partimag. Still nothing. What the hell is CZ looking for?

• KVM machine does not start ssh, network is started, used to work

  have been searching an pulling my hear out for the last 6 hours. I have a virtual machine that has been running fine for the last six months. I was happy ssh'ing into it and it was running a database and some small apps. Tonight ssh stopped working, so I decided to reboot the machine. I now have the following situation: virsh list --all states machine as running I can ping the machine and get a reply When I ssh to the machine I see "ssh: connect to host [myserver] port 22: Connection refused" nmap does not show port 22 as open I have tried to: - reboot the machine once more (no luck) - mount the filesystem and check /etc/ssh/sshd.conf (has not changed since working situation) - install virsh console, however this does not seem to work When I mount the fs directly using losetup the strange thing is that file dates seem to be frozen in /var/log/ around the time of the crash. If I look in /var/run/ I can see an sshd.pid, but the time is 6 hours ago (and numerous reboots).   My Mac is joined to an Active Directory domain. What I expected to see was the same ease of access to file shares and internal websites that Windows computers joined to the domain experience (i.e., no authentication needed; it just uses Windows Integrated Authentication). Instead I am asked for credentials each time I try to access those shares and protected websites (e.g. SharePoint). Is this normal behavior, or is something wrong with my Mac that it prompts me for my username and password for the domain when I access Windows file shares or intranet sites protected by NTLM/Kerberos?   Is there a way of offering Skype access to incoming calls while keeping all telephony traffic over our chosen business telephony provision? Is there a 3rd party who can route incoming Skype calls to our telephone system? The business has had requests from contacts wanting to call us via Skype, but we want to keep all telephony via our PBX and phone lines as our geographic location limits our available internet bandwidth. We also prevent installation of non-standard applications on desktops and do not want to add Skype to our build. I was wondering if there were any 3rd parties that provide a connection service that would allow our contacts to call via Skype and us receive the calls via our phone system.

• Browsers with good keyboard support

  What browsers have good keyboard support? That means you don't have to use the mouse so much. Or what is a good setup for browser + keyboard interaction. I know the basic keyboard shortcuts (tab switching, new tabs etc.) but I don't know a good way to switch between links and search areas - usually that means TAB, Shift-TAB one at a time. Is there maybe some plugin that'll add numbers to links and I could just do something like 12 to go to the link 12?

• Windows 7 - Windows XP - sharing - why isn't working?

  Hi! This is seems to be "hardware" and not "software" / "programming" question, but I need to use this share in my programs, so it is "close to programming". We had an XP based wireless network. The server is XP Professional, the clients are XP Home (Notebooks). This was working well with folder sharing (with user rights, not simple share). Then we replaced the one of the notebook with Win7/X64 notebook. First time this can reach the server, and the another client too. Later I went to another sites, and connect to another servers, another networks. And then, when I return to this network, I saw that I cannot connect to this server. Nothing of resources I see, and when try to dbl click on this computer, I got login window, where I can write anything, never I can login... The interesting part, that: Another XP home can see the server, can login as quest, or with other user. The server can see the XP home notebook. The Win7 can see the notebook's shared folders, and XP home can see the Win7 shared folders. The server can see the Win7 folders, BUT: the Win7 cannot see the server folders. Cannot see the resources too... The Win7 is in "work networking group", the group name is not mshome. I tried everything on the server, I tried to remove MS client, restore it with simple sharing, set guest password, etc., but I lost the possibilities to access this server from Win7. Does anyone have any idea what I need to see, what I need to set to access these resource - to use them in my programs? Thanks for every info, link: dd

  The Windows (Vista) documentation and available online info is comprehensively vague. If I have a moderately brain dead system and want to restore it, and I have a "Backup and Restore Center" backup whose "delta" is not quite a week old (but with a "full backup" behind it), what steps do I go through to recover my box back to that backup point? It's totally unclear whether simply doing "restore all" from the (advanced) "Center" is sufficient, or do I need to first take the box back to day zero with the system restore DVD, et al? I've tried: Enable Developer mode, Choose Protection, Choose None. When I do that, I'm given the impression that I should be able to resize a given table but I cannot actually do it. Is there a VNC client or RDP software that can be embedded in a web page? I realize this seems like it might be a web application based question, but the web application portion would only end up being one small portion of the whole solution.   hi all, yesterday on a computer of a friend a strange thing happened. after booting the ports fo http, https and ftp are closed but e-mail is still working. in the control panel the windows firewall seems active even if he tries to deactivate it. i have a suspision that it is the faul of norton internet security 2010, we have tried to uninstall it, but the uninstallation did not work. when using the removal tool from symantec it just goes to 23% and then it crashes. the process ccSvcHst.exe is still running. how can i safeley remove the rest of norton internet security? thanks in advance [edit] norton internet security 2010 is sucesfully removed, but still no connectivity

In VirtualBox there is an option to choose between pulseaudio and alsa for sound, but it seems to have no effect. I am using virtualbox-3.0 packages, not the ose version. My system is up to date.

  I'm using Eclipse for several projects on Leopard OSX. I've installed several versions (Classic, PDT, etc). • Folder Disappeared In Outlook but is still searchable?

  Hi All currently having an issue where the personal folders in outlook seem to be disappearing. We have a folder called 0 Mail Filing, it seems to have disappeared, but doing a search for mail, it finds the mail and the folder is still in inbox/0 Mail Filing. Is there anyway to find the exact location, or get the folder back. We have checked all of the other subfolders and the folder is not in any of them. We are using Outlook 2007 with Exchange Server 2003. Thanks Jamie T

• Is there a way to import email from the raw email files?

  I have a client who recently switched hosts. When they switched hosts they didn't backup their email and updated their configuration settings so they lost everything. However, I was able to log in to their old hosting control panel and download their mail folder. I am wondering if there is a way to extract their emails and/or contacts from the files. I'm not sure what type of files they are, there is no extension, but the folder directory is structured like this: mail/ .Drafts/ .Sent/ .Trash/ cur/ new/ theirdomain.com/ tmp/ [email protected] maildir Inside of the theirdomain.com folder, there is a folder for each account and inside of that is a folder called "cur" which has a whole bunch of files with names like 1292945327.H169813P25958.uscentral21.myserverhosts.com,S=10117/2,S and if I preview those files I can see the actual email messages inside of them but I have no idea how to get that information from those files to an email client. Anyone know of a way to work with these files? Thanks in advance for any insight you can share!

• Quickly open Windows Mobility Center in Windows 8 "tablet" mode

  I am using a Surface Pro (2013). I would like to know if there is a quick way to open the Windows Mobility Center desktop program. I like to use this program because it is easy to manipulate during the "tablet" (non-keyboard, no-mouse) mode. This program has multiple ways to be started, according to From How to Open and Use Mobility Center in Windows 7 and Windows 8: (Windows 8) Press Windows key + X and select Mobility Center Open the Control Panel and select "Windows Mobility Center" Open the Run dialog and type "mblctr.exe" and press Enter key. None of these are quick and easy when in "tablet" mode. I would ideally like to swipe from right screen edge into to open the Settings pop up and select one icon that opens the Mobility Center. Alternatively, another way I would like to have implemented would be to touch the Windows icon on the tablet screen outside of the viewing area and touch an "app" to launch the Mobility Center. Alternatively, it would be nice to have a Live Tile App that duplicates this functionality.

• Fried graphics card, how to proceed ?

  Motherboard: Biostar TPower I45 I fried my graphics card (white smoke), by removing the cable marked PCI-E from the card, and then booting. Removed the graphics card, and now the machine is booting, and I can ping it. However I have no possibility to see what is actually happening, because I can't attach a monitor. Can I workaround the lack of monitor in some way, just to see if the motherboard is fine, attach a cable and telnet in or any other way ? Or, do I have to buy and install a new graphics card to be sure ?

  Quick question about how to get weather alerts with conky. I'm using the following bit of code: ${execpi 3600 ~/.conky/scripts/conky-rss.sh "http://www.weather.gov/alerts/wwarssget.php?zone=MDZ006"|sed '1,3d'|fold -sw 62} This (correctly) display a message to the effect "There are no weather alerts for ...." when there are no weather alerts. However, when there is an alert, it simply displays a message like "Short-term forecast for ..." with no further information. Any suggestions? How are other people getting weather alert info in their conkys?

• Desktop.ini Issues/Confusion

  BACKSTORY: I was out of town for a while and I forgot to turn my computer off. When I came back I saw that a desktop.ini file was on my desktop (using Windows 7). I thought that was odd because I knew it was a system file and it usually didn't show up due to the fact that I had disable the feature to show system files. Also it wasn't translucent like the other system files. I went to my control panel and saw that the "Hide protected operating system files" was indeed enabled. This puzzled me so I disabled the setting and another one was on my desktop like it usually is hidden. So now I have to desktop.ini files on my desktop: one hidden and one not hidden. I am doing an antivirus check to see if anything was going on and I will give an update soon. I am pretty sure these files are harmless and could be deleted but I would rather get another person's opinion on the subject. Thanks! UPDATE: I did an anti-virus scan and it seems I have no problems. It is odd because the file seems to maintain system file properties such as not being able to be edited and other things. Also I have tried restarting my computer and it is still not hidden. So the question remains: What should I do with the file and what caused it?
