• Designing Content-Based ETL Process with .NET and SFDC

  As my firm makes the transition to using SFDC as our main operational system, we've spun together a couple of SFDC portals where we can post customer-specific documents to be viewed at will. As such, we've had the need for pseudo-ETL applications to be implemented that are able to extract metadata from the documents our analysts generate internally (most are industry-standard PDFs, XML, or MS Office formats) and place in networked "queue" folders. From there, our applications scoop of the queued documents and upload them to the appropriate SFDC CRM Content Library along with some select pieces of metadata. I've mostly used DbAmp to broker communication with SFDC (DbAmp is a Linked Server provider that allows you to use SQL conventions to interact with your SFDC Org data). I've been able to create [console] applications in C# that work pretty well, and they're usually structured something like this: static void Main() { // Load parameters from app.config. // Get documents from queue. var files = someInterface.GetFiles(someFilterOrRegexPattern); foreach (var file in files) { // Extract metadata from the file. // Validate some attributes of the file; add any validation errors to an in-memory // structure (e.g. List<ValidationErrors>). if (isValid) { // Upload using some wrapper for an ORM an someInterface.Upload(meta.Param1, meta.Param2, ...); } else { // Bounce the file } } // Report any validation errors (via message bus or SMTP or some such). } And that's pretty much it. Most of the time I wrap all these operations in a "Worker" class that takes the needed interfaces as constructor parameters. This approach has worked reasonably well, but I just get this feeling in my gut that there's something awful about it and would love some feedback. Is writing an ETL process as a C# Console app a bad idea? I'm also wondering if there are some design patterns that would be useful in this scenario that I'm clearly overlooking. Thanks in advance!

• SSIS Send Mail Task and ForceExecutionValue Error

  I tried to use the "ForcedExecutionValue" on several Send Mail Tasks and log the execution into a ExecValueVariable so that at the end of the package I can log into a table to say whether the data check is successful or not (by determine whether an email was sent out) I set up a Boolean variable that is accessible at the package level, then set up my Send Mail Task as the screenshot below with Boolean as my ForcedExecutionValueType.  When I run the package, I got the error described below. Just to make sure this is not another issue of SSIS having with Boolean type ( you also can't set variable value from xp_cmdshell of type Boolean), I used variables of types String, Int32, DateTime with the corresponding ForcedExecutionValueType.  The only way to get around this error, was to set my variable to type Object, but then when you try to get the value out later, the Object is null. I didn't spend enough time on this to see whether it's really a bug in SSIS or not, or is this just how Send Mail Task works.  Just want to log the error and will circle back on this later to narrow down the issue some more.  In the meantime, please share if you have run into the same problem.  The current workaround is to attach a script task at the end. Also, need to note 2 existing limitation: Data check needs to be done serially because every check needs to be inner join to a master table.  The master table has all the data in a single XML column and hence need to be retrieved with XQuery (a fundamental design flaw that needs to be changed) The next iteration will be to change this design into a FOR loop and pull out the checking query from a table somewhere with all the info needed for email task, but is being put to the back of the priority. Error Message: Error: 0xC001F009 at CountCheckBetweenODSAndCleanSchema: The type of the value being assigned to variable "User::WasErrorEmailEverSent" differs from the current variable type. Variables may not change type during execution. Variable types are strict, except for variables of type Object. Error: 0xC0019001 at Send Mail Task on count mismatch: The wrapper was unable to set the value of the variable specified in the ExecutionValueVariable property.   Screenshot of my Send Mail Task setup:

  http://www.itjobswatch.co.uk/ Thats the only one good site i have found, but missing for Belgium and for other European countries. I was searching a site which can tell the income source details for European developer (specially for Belgium). But mostly not a single website exist who tells the true. My situation: As a programmer myself in one company i use all my knowledge, 20++ hours a day (office , home, office, home) because every-time its challenge/complex/stress/over-time feature-requests, at the end of the year in Europe i was getting in total not even the lowest amount shown here (UK pound vs Euro + high-tech most of the time they use + speed in development): http://www.itjobswatch.co.uk/ In one company i have to use my best performance knowledge for whole year with: C, Java, PHP (Zend Framework, Cakephp), BASH, MySQL/DB2, Linux/Unix, Javascript, Dojo, JQuery, Css, Html, Xml. Company wants to pay lesser but always it has to be perfect and it has to be solid gold and diamond like quality. And the total amount in Europe is not sufficient for me if i compare with other countries and living cost in Europe including taxes. Is there any developers/community site where we can see by country, zone what is minimum to maximum income source getting offered to the developers? So that some developers who is in troubles, they can shout and speak up louder with those references?

We’ll use an inbound XML fact and a local RL fact as an example. Getting ready You’ll need access to a SOA composite containing an Oracle Business Rules component in JDeveloper to apply this recipe. We’ll assume you have an XSD schema with an input type RequestInput containing input and bonus String types, and output String value called output in a type ResponseOutput. These aren’t efficient but serve as an example. We’ll step through adding a rule to a composite and creating an RL fact. How to do it... Open a SOA composite. Right click on the Project and select Business Rules (Service Components), use the search box if it is not immediately available.   13 days ago I wrote a blog post entitled Introducing sp_ssiscatalog (v1.0.0.0) in which I first made mention of sp_ssiscatalog, an open source stored procedure intended to make it easy to query the SSIS Catalog. I have been working on some enhancements since then and hence v1.0.1.0 is now available for download from Codeplex. • How ReSharper saved the day

  The Back Story: As a Microsoft MVP awardee, one of the many benefits is free software, books, and various products.  Some of the producers/manufacturers ask for reviews in exchange, others just ask for a brief mention (nothing is ever really free).  But considering that some of the products are essential to my everyday computing, I never mind mentioning their names and evangelizing their products. One of these tools just happened to save me a countless number of hours.  With the release of Microsoft’s Visual Studio 2010, JetBrains released their new 5.0 version of ReSharper. The Story: My specialty is Visual Basic development.  I am not, and probably will never be a C# developer.  As such, trying to figure out how to debug a C# project, that was written 2 years ago by a contract developer, let’s just say it’s a painful process. I have a special class for config file reading and writing, written in C#.  I kept getting exceptions when the reader would get to a line that had an xml comment in it.  It took me a couple of hours to narrow down where it was happening and why, but I couldn’t figure out the best way to fix it.  It was a for loop that was implicitly casting the type of the variable.  I knew I need to explicitly cast the variable type, but only after the type was verified.  So after I finally got some of the code written, ReSharper gave me some suggestions on how to write the code better. One of the ways was to safely cast the variable into the type I wanted.  Blammo, no more exceptions in a way I hadn’t anticipated.  Instead of having to check the type before I cast it.  Beautiful, simple, and taught me a better way to code C#. Kudos JetBrains … now if it only worked better with VB (then it could be called ReBasic, ReVB, RE???)

  Getting ERROR: The wizard cannot continue because of the following error: could not load wizard specified in /wizard.inf (104) Solution: Uninstall everything related with java and jre. Then, download the lastest version of jre for linux x86 or x64, rpm.bin one. And follow these instructions http://www.java.com/en/download/help/linux_install.xml "To install the Linux RPM (self-extracting) file". Make a user and group informix (as root), then uncompress the (informix package).tar in /opt/informix that you have created. And tun ./ids_install, and GUI will work ok. Hope it helps.

• Kerberos: Running an app with a parameter using krenew

  I need to run an application with krenew, but the application also needs to receive a parameter via command line and I need to send its output to a file. From the documentation, it looks like this should do the trick: krenew -t -- sh -c 'compute-job > /afs/local/data/output' but, unfortunately, when I run the command below: krenew -s -- sh -c './my_app config.xml > results/test.txt &' the application just dies after a while and I can see from the output of ps aux that krenew is not running along with my_app. I am not sure what the parameter -t does, and as far as I can see, if I run krenew -s ./my_app, it works properly. I hope someone can clarify this.

• Segmentation fault while switching QCompleter for QLineEdit [on hold]

• Dummy HTTP server for debugging

  This is more or less the inverse of my previous question. I need to debug some HTTP requests that I am making. Since these requests arise from the use of some external libraries, sometimes I am not sure of what is the actual data I am sending. Is there some dummy server (for Linux) that accepts HTTP requests and just prints them somewhere so that I can inspect them? • Representing heightmaps, on disk and when drawing

  This is a conglomeration question when answering please specify which part you are addressing. I am looking at creating a maze type game that utilizes elevation. I have a few features I would like to have, but am unsure as to some of the implementation. I have done work doing fileIO maze generation (using a key to read the file, and then generate the level based on that file), but I am unsure how to think about this with elevation in the mix. I think height maps might be a good approach, but don't know how to represent them effectively. for a height map which is more beneficial XML(containing h[u,v] data and key definition), CSV (item1 is key reference, item2 is elevation), or another approach that I have not thought of yet? When it comes to placing the elevation values themselves what kind of deltah values are appropriate to have it noticeable at about a 60degree angle while not really effecting gravity driven physics (assuming some effect while moving up/down hill)? I am thinking of maybe going to procedural generation at some point, but am wondering if it is practical to have a procedurally generated grid (wall squares possibly same dimensions as the open space squares), or if designing to a thin wall open spaces is better? this decision will effect the amount of work need on the graphics end for uniform vs. irregular walls. EDIT: Game will be a elevation maze shooter. Levels/maps will be mazes with elevation the player has to negotiate. Elevations will have effects on "combat" vision, and movement.

  Raj, the Chennai JUG lead, together with others from that JUG, is interested in Visage, the JavaFX script language closely associated with Stephen Chin. He sent me the related lexer and parser and I started by having a look at them in the new version of ANTLRWorks being developed by Sam Harwell (who demonstrated it very effectively during JavaOne): Notice how the lexer and parser are shown in a tree structure, as well as in a cool syntax diagram. Next, I downloaded a bunch of JARs from here, so that packages such as from "com.sun.tools.mjavac" can be used, i.e., these are Visage-specific packages that aren't found anywhere except in the location below: http://code.google.com/p/visage/wiki/GettingStarted It turns out that there's also a Visage NetBeans plugin out there: http://code.google.com/p/visage/source/browse/?repo=netbeans-plugin Rather than recreating everything from scratch, i.e., generating ANTLR Java classes from the lexer and parser, I copied a lot of stuff from the site above and now a file Raj sent me looks as follows, i.e., basic syntax coloring is shown: For anyone wanting to seriously support Visage in NetBeans IDE, I recommend downloading the existing Visage NetBeans plugin above, rather than creating everything yourself from scratch, and then figuring out how to use that code in some way, i.e., add the JARs I pointed to above, and work on its build.xml file, which could be frustrating in the beginning, but there's no point in recreating everything if everything already exists.

You will also get the latest news on some of the Oracle systems announcements made during OOW 2012. During this event we will make an update about Oracle and Clouds, from private to public and hybrid models. So in preparing this session, I thought it was a good start to make a status of Cloud Computing in France, and CIO requirements in particular. Starting in 2009 with the first Cloud Camp in Paris, the market has evolved, but the basics are still the same : think hybrid. From Traditional IT to Clouds One size doesn't fit all, and for big companies having already an IT in place, there will be parts eligible to external (public) cloud, and parts that would be required to stay inside the firewalls, so ability to integrate both side is key.  None the less, one of the major impact of Cloud Computing trend on IT, reported by Forrester, is the pressure it makes on CIO to evolve towards the same model that end-users are now used to in their day to day life, where self-service and flexibility are paramount. This is what is driving IT to transform itself toward "a Global Service Provider", or for some as "IT "is" the Business" (see : Gartner Identifies Four Futures for IT and CIO), and for both models toward a Private Cloud Service Provider. In this journey, there is still a big difference between most of existing external Cloud and a firm IT : the number of applications that a CIO has to manage. Most cloud providers today are overly specialized, but at the end of the day, there are really few business processes that rely on only one application. So CIOs has to combine everything together external and internal. And for the internal parts that they will have to make them evolve to a Private Cloud, the scope can be very large. This will often require CIOs to evolve from their traditional approach to more disruptive ones, the time has come to introduce new standards and processes, if they want to succeed. So let's have a look at the different Cloud models, what type of users they are addressing, what value they bring and most importantly what needs to be done by the  Cloud Provider, and what is left over to the user. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS : what's provided and what needs to be done First of all the Cloud Provider will have to provide all the infrastructure needed to deliver the service. And the more value IT will want to provide, the more IT will have to deliver and integrate : from disks to applications. As we can see in the above picture, providing pure IaaS, left a lot to cover for the end-user, that’s why the end-user targeted by this Cloud Service is IT people. If you want to bring more value to developers, you need to provide to them a development platform ready to use, which is what PaaS is standing for, by providing not only the processors power, storage and OS, but also the Database and Middleware platform. SaaS being the last mile of the Cloud, providing an application ready to use by business users, the remaining part for the end-users being configuring and specifying the application for their specific usage. In addition to that, there are common challenges encompassing all type of Cloud Services : Security : covering all aspect, not only of users management but also data flows and data privacy Charge back : measuring what is used and by whom Application management : providing capabilities not only to deploy, but also to upgrade, from OS for IaaS, Database, and Middleware for PaaS, to a full Business Application for SaaS. Scalability : ability to evolve ALL the components of the Cloud Provider stack as needed Availability : ability to cover “always on” requirements Efficiency : providing a infrastructure that leverage shared resources in an efficient way and still comply to SLA (performances, availability, scalability, and ability to evolve) Automation : providing the orchestration of ALL the components in all service life-cycle (deployment, growth & shrink (elasticity), upgrades,...) Management : providing monitoring, configuring and self-service up to the end-users Oracle Strategy and Clouds For CIOs to succeed in their Private Cloud implementation, means that they encompass all those aspects for each component life-cycle that they selected to build their Cloud. That’s where a multi-vendors layered approach comes short in terms of efficiency. That’s the reason why Oracle focus on taking care of all those aspects directly at Engineering level, to truly provide efficient Cloud Services solutions for IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. We are going as far as embedding software functions in hardware (storage, processor level,...) to ensure the best SLA with the highest efficiency. The beauty of it, as we rely on standards, is that the Oracle components that you are running today in-house, are exactly the same that we are using to build Clouds, bringing you flexibility, reversibility and fast path to adoption. With Oracle Engineered Systems (Exadata, Exalogic & SPARC SuperCluster, more specifically, when talking about Cloud), we are delivering all those components hardware and software already engineered together at Oracle factory, with a single pane of glace for the management of ALL the components through Oracle Enterprise Manager, and with high-availability, scalability and ability to evolve by design. • JPEG images not loading on PlayBook (Marmalade + iwgame)

  I'm using iwgame on a test project and I was trying to render different resolutions of JPG and PNG images. Everything works fine on the Marmalade Simulator, however once I deploy the game to our PlayBook and run it, only the PNG images are shown. I have declared the images in the MKB file and on a XML file iwgame's using to load the images. I've checked the deployments folder and all images are present in the intermediatefiles/native folder. We're currently using a BlackBerry only license, so we can only test this on the PlayBook, but we do intend to get a Community license and deploy to iOS and Android devices eventually (I'm not sure if this is a problem exclusive to the PlayBook). I really don't know if this is a Marmalade or a iwgame issue. I have a different test project without iwgame and it simply won't run with jpg images (I get the error: 'Could not find handler for extension "jpg"'). While searching for a sollution, I've seen people talking about using libjpg, but I've also found that Marmalade supposedly has integrated native jpeg support (and because of that iwgame has abandoned their jpeg loading support since v0.340), so I don't know what to think. I'm currently using the most recent versions of both Marmalade and iwgame, I believe: Marmalade 6.1.2 and iwgame 0.400. Also, please let me know if there's an easier or better way to do this, such as linking libjpg or something (I'm not exactly sure how to do this). I really would appreciate some help with this, there's a huge difference in size for the images we're planning to use, from a ~500kb jpg file to a ~3.5mb png file. Thanks, guys.

• Tweaking log4net Settings Programmatically

  A few months ago, I had to dynamically add a log4net appender at runtime.  Now I find myself in another log4net situation.  I need to modify the configuration of my appenders at runtime. My client requires all files generated by our applications to be saved to a specific location.  This location is determined at runtime.  Therefore, I want my FileAppenders to log their data to this specific location – but I won't know the location until runtime so I can't add it to the XML configuration file I'm using. • Updating an ADF Web Service Data Control When Service Structure or Location Change

  The web service data control in Oracle ADF gives you a simplified approach to consuming services in ADF applications, and now with ADF Mobile the usage of this service seems to be growing. A frequent question we get is what happens if the service that I'm consuming changes - how do I update my data control? Well, first we should mention that if you do a good design of your application before you actually code - then things like Web service method signature shouldn't change. The signature is the contract between the publisher and the consumer, and contracts shouldn't be broken. But in reality things do change during development stages, so here is how you can update both method signatures and service location with the Web service data control: After watching this video you might be tempted to not copy the WSDLs to your project - which lets you use the right click update on a data control. However there is a reason why the copy is on by default, it reduces network traffic when you are actually running your application since ADF doesn't need to go to the server to find out the service structure. So for runtime performance, you probably should keep the WSDL local.  I encourage you to further look into both the connections.xml file where your service location is saved, and the datacontrols.dcx file where its definition is kept to get an even deeper understanding of how ADF works underneath the declarative layers.

• What is the best type of c# timer to use with an Unity game that uses many timers simultaneously?

  I am developing a stand-alone 3d game in Unity that will have anywhere from 1 to 200 timers running simultaneously. For this game timer durations will range from 5 minutes to 4 days. There will not be any countdown displays or any UI for the timers. An object will be selected, a menu choice will then be selected, and the timer will start. Several events will occur at different intervals during the duration of the timer. The events will be confined to changing the material of the selected object, and calling a 1 second sound effect like a chime or a bell. If the user wants to save or end the game before all the timers are done, the start of the still running timers is to be saved to an XML file such that when the game is started again, any still running timers will have a calculation done to see if the timer is then done, where the game will change the materials appropriately. I am still trying to figure out what type of timer to use, and see also if there are any suggestions for saving and calculating times over several days. What class(es) of timers should I use? Are there any special issues I should look out for in terms of performance?

  As more and more business is being conducted via online channels, engaging users and making them more productive and efficient though these online channels is becoming critical. These users could be customers, partners or employees and while the respective channels through which they interact might be different, these users do increasingly interact with your business through the Web, or mobile devices or now through various social mediums.  Businesses need a user engagement strategy and solution that allows them to deliver targeted and personalized content and applications to users through the various online mediums and touch points.  The customer experience today is made up of an ongoing set of interactions with organizations across many channels, online and offline.  The Direct channel (including sales reps, email and mail) is an important point of contact, as is the Contact Center.  Contact Centers rely on the phone as a means of interacting with customers, and also more now than ever, the Web as well.  However, the online organization is often managed separately from the Contact Center organization within a business. In-store is an important channel for retailers, offering Point-of-Service for human interactions, and Kiosks which enable self-service. Kiosks are a Web-enabled touch point but in-store kiosks are often managed by the head of retail operations, rather than the online organization.  And of course, the online channel, including customer interactions with an organization via digital means -- on the website, mobile websites, and social networking sites, has risen to paramount importance in recent years in the customer experience. Historically all of these channels have been managed separately. The result of all of this fragmentation is that the customer touch points with an organization are siloed.  Their interactions online are not known and respected in their dealings in-store.  Their calls to the contact center are not taken as input into what the website offers them when they arrive. Think of how many times you’ve fallen victim to this. Your experience with the company call center is different than the experience in-store. Your experience with the company website on your desktop computer is different than your experience on your iPad. I think you get the point. But the customer isn’t the only one we need to look at here, as employees and the IT organization have challenges as well when it comes to online engagement. There are many common tools and technologies that organizations have been using to try and engage users, whether it’s customers, employees or partners. Some have adopted different blog and wiki technologies (some hosted, some open source, sometimes embedded in platforms), to things like tagging, file sharing and content management, or composite applications for self-service applications and activity streams. Basically, there are so many different tools & technologies that each address different aspects of user engagement. Now, one of the challenges with this, is that if we look at each individual tool, typically just implementing for example a file sharing and basic collaboration solution, may meet the needs of the business user for one aspect of user engagement, but it may not be the best solution to engage with customers and partners, or it may not fit with IT standards such as integrating with their single sign on tools or their corporate website. Often, the scenario is that businesses are having to acquire multiple pieces and parts as well as build custom applications to meet their needs. Leaving customers and partners with a more fragmented way of interacting with the company. Every organization has some sort of enterprise balancing act between the needs of the business user and the needs and restrictions enforced by enterprise IT groups. As we’ve been discussing, we all know that the expectations for online engagement have changed since the days of the static, one-size fits all website. With these changes have come some very difficult organizational challenges as well. Today, as a business user, you want to engage with your customers, and your customers expect you to know who they are. They expect you to recall the details they’ve provided to you on your website, to your CSRs and to your sales people. They expect you to remember their purchases, their preferences and their problems. And they expect you to know who they are, equally well, across channels, including your web presence. This creates a host of challenges for today’s business users. Delivering targeted, relevant content online is now essential for converting prospects into customers and for engendering long term loyalty. • Gentoo Linux -> Ubuntu: Can I Preserve My LVM/RAID Devices, Or Do I Need To Reformat?

  Hello: I've got a Gentoo box that I'm interested in switching over to an Ubuntu box. I currently have the partitions laid out using a mixture of RAID (mdadm) and LVM2, as specified in this document [1]. Ideally I'd like to just wipe out the non /home partition, as it's got data I'd like to keep. Is it possible to reuse the current setup, or do I need to restart? vgdisplay, vgchange -a y, etc don't yield any results from the Ubuntu LiveCD, and I'm wary to run any commands that might wipe my data.   I started weeding through my site's search results from Google today, using a site: search, to determine if there are any links that cause 404s and thus need redirecting. To my amazement I noticed numerous https:// results relating to various pages. My site doesn't have a SSL certificate, doesn't serve such pages, doesn't internally link to https:// pages, doesn't include any such files in its sitemap.xml and, for all of these, never has. I decided to do a Google search for https://<my site> and found one site that incorrectly refers to the root of my site with a https:// prefix - I will try to contact them to get them to correct this. I'm not sure however how Googlebot managed to index the non-root files as https://. I can't find any external links to them and surely, without certification, Googlebot should have stalled at the first request? I've just added the following lines to the site's .htaccess (although the surfer still has to navigate through the browser's "This site is a security risk. Abandon hope all ye who enter here!" message(s) first to get there): RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTPS} on RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.<my site>.org/$1 [R=301,L] replacing <my site> with my domain name. My big question is this though - I would like to use the Google Webmaster Tools Remove URLs feature to remove the https:// pages from the index. Can I be guaranteed that this will only remove the https:// versions of each relevant page and not the valid http:// versions? It is by design dut to the consideration of security, but it is very annoying especially when you import bindings which contain multiple WCF send ports. The way to aviod retyping password everytime after an import is to edit the binding file before import. Here is what needs to be done. 1. Find the following string:     &lt;Password vt="1" /&gt; "&lt;" means "<", "&gt;" means ">", "vt" means "Variable Type", variable type 1 is "NULL", so the above string can be translated to "<Password/>" 2. Replace it with:     &lt;Password vt="8"&gt;MyPassword&lt;/Password&gt;    variable type 8 is "string", the above string can be transalted to "<Password>MyPassword</Password>"   Binding file uses a lot of character entity references for XML character encoding purpose. • SOA Forcing A Shift In IT Governance

  As more and more companies adopt a service oriented approach to developing and maintaining existing enterprise systems, IT governance also needs to shift its philosophies to fit the emerging development paradigm. When I first started programming companies placed an emphasis on “Code and Go” software development style. They only developed for current problems and did not really take a look at how the company could leverage some of the code we were developing across the entire enterprise system.  The concept of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) has dramatically shifted how we develop enterprise software with emphasizing software processes as company assets. This has driven some to start developing new components as processes strictly for the possibility of future integration of existing and new systems. I personally like this new paradigm because it truly promotes code reusability. However, most enterprise level IT governance polices were created prior to the introduction of SOA in their respected organization. This can create a sense of the Wild West for developers working on projects related to SOA. This is due to the fact that a lot of the standards and polices implemented by enterprise IT governing boards were initially for developing under the “Code and Go” paradigm and do not take in to account idiosyncrasies found in the SOA/integration based development. As IT governance moves forward its focus should aim more for “Develop to Integrate” versus “Code and Go” philosophies. Examples of “Develop to Integrate” Philosophy: Defining preferred data transfer methodologies (XML vs. JSON), and when to use them Updating security best practices for exposing public services based on existing standard security policies Define when to use create new SOA project vs. implementing localized components that could be reused elsewhere in the enterprise.

• Creating a vm using Hyper-V causes the host of BSOD

  Hi, Problem description: When I try to create a virtual machine, the host bsod part way through the process. From the logs in lookes to fail/hang on the "Creating new VirtualDisckDriver with new VHD" step. The BSOD error code is SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION : STOP:0x0000003B When the machine has finished restarting, it looks to have created the vhd and XML files for the vm but it isn't accessable. I have two server bothing behaving in exactly the same way, so I don't believe it's a hardware fault. Has anyone had a similar experince? How did you resolve the problem?
