  • UIView as dictionary key?

    - by subw
    I want to have a NSDictionary that maps from UIViews to something else. However, since UIViews do not implement the NSCopying protocol, I can't use them directly as dictionary keys.

  • How to manage a single-selection (exclusive) list?

    - by Andy
    I've got a detail view that consists of a table view with a few rows of data. I can fill the rows just fine, and moving back and forth from the parent view to the subview works too. This detail view should allow the user to select a single value, placing a checkmark accessory in the cell and then returning to the parent view (where the selected value becomes the cell.textLabel.text property of the cell from which the detail view was called). This all works as of right now. However, when the user taps the cell in the parent view to go back to the detail view (to change their selection), my checkmark has disappeared and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make it stay. Here's my cellForRowAtIndexPath: method: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } NSString *labelText = [[phones objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] valueForKey:@"phoneNumberLabel"]; cell.textLabel.text = labelText; NSString *currentLabel = [ruleBuilder.tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:selectedIndexPath].textLabel.text; if (labelText == currentLabel) { cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark; } NSString *detailText = [[phones objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] valueForKey:@"phoneNumber"]; cell.detailTextLabel.text = detailText; return cell; } I've checked out Apple's sample code for exclusive-list management in Table View Programming Guide, but the snippet seems incomplete, and I can't find the related code in Apple's sample code. This doesn't seem like it ought to be that hard to do.

  • Can I do this?? Trying to load an object from within itself.

    - by Smikey
    Hi all! I have an object which conforms to the NSCoding protocol. The object contains a method to save itself to memory, like so: - (void)saveToFile { NSMutableData *data = [[NSMutableData alloc] init]; NSKeyedArchiver *archiver = [[NSKeyedArchiver alloc] initForWritingWithMutableData:data]; [archiver encodeObject:self forKey:kDataKey]; [archiver finishEncoding]; [data writeToFile:[self dataFilePath] atomically:YES]; [archiver release]; [data release]; } This works just fine. But I would also like to initialise an empty version of this object and then call its own 'Load' method to load whatever data exists on file into its variables. So I've created the following: - (void)loadFromFile { NSString *filePath = [self dataFilePath]; if ([[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:filePath]) { NSData *data = [[NSMutableData alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:[self dataFilePath]]; NSKeyedUnarchiver *unarchiver = [[NSKeyedUnarchiver alloc] initForReadingWithData:data]; self = [unarchiver decodeObjectForKey:kDataKey]; [unarchiver finishDecoding]; } } Now this second method doesn't manage to load any variables. Is this line not possible perhaps? self = [unarchiver decodeObjectForKey:kDataKey]; Ultimately I would like to use the code like this: One viewController takes user entered input, creates an object and saves it to memory using [anObject saveToFile]; And a second viewController creates an empty object, then initialises its values to those stored on file by calling: [emptyObject loadFromFile]; Any suggestions on how to make this work would be hugely appreciated. Thanks :) Michael

  • I'm getting the error in iTunes connect: The binary you uploaded was invalid. The signature was inva

    - by Joshua
    I went through the dev portal provisioning process twice now trying to get it to work, but to no avail. I don't think it's the second half (signature is invalid), I think it actually may have to with my binary. I have a warning in xcode that isn't helping me because I don't know what to do about it. And honestly I don't know how relevant this information even is. But it says: "Check Dependencies: Warning: The copy bundle resources build phase contains target's info.plist" The app runs perfectly in the simulator, and I haven't made any changes to the info.plist since I submitted the app to Apple last week. (this is an update) any suggestions?

  • Programmatically remove the header of UITableView and automatically resizes the content to fill in the removed area.

    - by code007
    Hello all, I have added a UIButton in the header section of the UITableView via the interface builder and would like to remove the access to the button in certain cases. I have tried to use the '.hidden = TRUE' property but it just hides the button from the view, leaving a white space behind. How do I programmatically remove the header of UITableView and have the table's content automatically resizes to fill in the removed header area?

  • How to know which image is being viewed in UIScrollView? Also, is it possible to loop scrolling for

    - by bruin
    This is what I'm trying to do, and I'm not sure if it's possible using UIScrollView. First, I don't care about zooming, all I care is that the user is able to scroll through images just like the Photo App, this I got. But how do I know which image he is viewing while using UIScrollView? For instance, if he stops on the 3rd image out of 10 images in the view, how do I know he's on that image? I can't find a way to access the index (is this accessible)?? Also, bonus question, once the user scrolls to the last image, I don't want the scrolling to stop but I want it to loop so that image 1 comes after image 10. And vice versa, if you scroll left passed image 1, you'll see image 10. I'm not asking for the logic, I can do this in an array very simply, I just don't know how to access (if it's even possible) the indexing of the images in the scroll view. If it's not, does anyone have a solution to do this? thanks in advance!

  • pointer being freed was not allocated

    - by kudorgyozo
    Hello i have the following error: malloc: * error for object 0x2087000: pointer being freed was not allocated * set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug I have no idea what object that is. I don't know how to find it. Can anybody explain to me how (and where) to use malloc_history. I have set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break but i couldn't find out what object is at that address. I receive this after removing an object from an nsmutablearray and popping a view controller manually. If I comment out the line [reviewUpload.images removeObject: self.reviewUploadImg] it doesn't give me the error but of course it's not useful for me like that. - (void) removeImage { debugLog(@"reviewUploadImg %@", self.reviewUploadImg); debugLog(@"reviewUpload %@", self.reviewUpload); debugLog(@"reviewUploadImg thumb %@", self.reviewUploadImg.thumb); [reviewUpload.images removeObject: self.reviewUploadImg]; [self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated:TRUE]; }

    I have a login controller ,and after the successful login i want to pass some string value to the menu page.however it does not work.the application crashes. • How to call another class's method from my app delegate

    - by Jared
    I have an application that utilizes UILocalNotifications to pop-up UIAlertViews. When the notification fires, the user chooses to go into the app, and this method is called from my app delegate: - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions {...} Where I can handle it and where I also prompt another alertview for more information. So when the app launches, it is displaying view A, and then the alertview pops up and prompts for input. This alertview, however, is originating from my app delegate. I need to be able to reload view A when the user hits Yes/No on the alertview. How can I do that from within my app delegate? Any help is appreciated!!

  • Model class for NSDictionary information with Lazy Loading

    - by samfu_1
    My application utilizes approx. 50+ .plists that are used as NSDictionaries. Several of my view controllers need access to the properties of the dictionaries, so instead of writing duplicate code to retrieve the .plist, convert the values to a dictionary, etc, each time I need the info, I thought a model class to hold the data and supply information would be appropriate. The application isn't very large, but it does handle a good deal of data. I'm not as skilled in writing model classes that conform to the MVC paradigm, and I'm looking for some strategies for this implementation that also supports lazy loading.. This model class should serve to supply data to any view controller that needs it and perform operations on the data (such as adding entries to dictionaries) when requested by the controller functions currently planned: returning the count on any dictionary adding one or more dictionaries together Currently, I have this method for supporting the count lookup for any dictionary. Would this be an example of lazy loading? -(NSInteger)countForDictionary: (NSString *)nameOfDictionary { NSBundle *bundle = [NSBundle mainBundle]; NSString *plistPath = [bundle pathForResource: nameOfDictionary ofType: @"plist"]; //load plist into dictionary NSMutableDictionary *dictionary = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithContentsOfFile: plistPath]; NSInteger count = [dictionary count] [dictionary release]; [return count] }

In my code I have the following _imgMinusDark = UIImage.FromFile("images/MinusDark.png"); On the simulator it runs fine, on the phone it's null. I have the Images folder content (all the PNGs) in my MonoDevelop marked as Content in terms of Build Action. What am I missing? thanks

  • How should I properly format this code?

    - by ct2k7
    Hi, I've a small issue here. I am using an if statement with UIAlertView and I have two situations, both result in UIAlertViews. However, in one situation, I want to dismiss just the UIAlertView, the other, I want the UIAlertView to be dismissed and view to return to root view. This code describes is: if([serverOutput isEqualToString:@"login.true"]){ [Alert dismissWithClickedButtonIndex:0 animated:YES]; [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = NO; UIAlertView *success = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Success" message:@"The transaction was a success!" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Ok" otherButtonTitles:nil, nil]; [success show]; [success release]; } else { UIAlertView *failure = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Failure" message:@"The transaction failed. Contact sales operator!" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Ok" otherButtonTitles:nil, nil]; [failure show]; [failure release]; } } -(void)alertView: (UIAlertView *)success clickedButtonAtIndex: (NSInteger)buttonIndex{ switch(buttonIndex) { case 0: { [self.navigationController popToRootViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } } } So, in both cases, they follow the above action, but obviously, that's not what I want. Any ideas on what I do here?

  • How can I hook up an IBAction method to a plain view for a touch up event?

    - by Thanks
    I have created a blank new view-based application project in Xcode. It generated a myProjectViewController and an nib for it. In that nib for that view controller, there is just one view. I wanted to test some event handling stuff and created an -(IBAction) method that will just log a "hello world" when I touch the view. But for some reason, IB doesn't give me a chance to hook up the action. What am I doing wrong there? I also tried to put a UIView as subview there. When I drag from that to File's Owner (whoose class is the myProjectViewController, where I have the IBAction in the header), doesn't even mention the IBAction. But it actually should, right?

  • Manually changing keyboard orientation for a view that's on top of a camera view

    - by XKR
    I'm basically trying to reproduce the core functionality of the "At Once" app. I have a camera view and another view with a text view on it. I add both views to the window. All is well so far. [window addSubview:imagePicker.view]; [window addSubview:textViewController.view]; I understand that the UIImagePickerController does not support autorotation, so I handle it manually by watching UIDeviceOrientationDidChangeNotifications and applying the necessary transforms to the textViewController.view. Now, the problem here is the keyboard. If I do nothing, it just stays in portrait mode. I can get it to rotate by adding the following code to the notification handler. [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarOrientation:interfaceOrientation]; [textView resignFirstResponder]; [textView becomeFirstResponder]; However, the following simple test produces weird behavior. Start the app in portrait mode. Rotate the device 90 degrees clockwise. Rotate the device 90 degrees counterclockwise (back to the initial position). Rotate the device 90 degrees clockwise. After step 4, instead of the landscape-mode keyboard, the portrait-style keyboard is shown, skewed to fit in the landscape keyboard frame. Perhaps my approach is wrong from the start. I was wondering if anyone has been able to reliably make the keyboard change its orientation in response to setStatusBarOrientation.

  • Zooming to UIView and it's sub-views

    - by leon
    Hi, I have a UIView which I can zoom to (as it is set as a subview of UIScrollView). UIView has UILabel, UITextField, etc. If I just zoom to the UIView, then of course label and text field get fuzzy (the same effect if you are zooming to the image file without changing image resolution). To solve the problem I need to increase the font size and sizes of the UILable and UITextField in according to the scale used to zoom in (scale is passed as a param by the UIScrollView). This is where I am getting confused. Changing frame (by increasing it width and height by zooming scale) I get all my elements (sub-views) repositions (because changing frame effects center and bounds) Question: 1. What would I need to do to zoom in to the sub-views and just increase the sub-view sizes while keeping them in the exactly the same position? thanks

  • How to get X,Y,Z rotations of vertices on a sphere at the origin?

    - by Stoff81
    Hey, I have a sphere in my game world and i would like to place a plane at each vertex on this sphere for debugging purposes. The planes should be orientated so that they lie flat against the sphere (perpendicular to the normals). The sphere is located at the origin, so all the vertices are relative to that. If my thinking is correct, i should be able to do this using the positions of the vertices and some simple trigonometry. I have tried a few combinations but have had no joy yet. I would greatly appreciate some help on this. Thanks. Here is my code: float xRot = RADIANS_TO_DEGREES(sinf(vertex.x/PLANET_RADIUS)); float yRot = RADIANS_TO_DEGREES(cosf(vertex.y/PLANET_RADIUS)); glRotatef(xRot, 1.0, 0, 0); glRotatef(yRot, 0, 1.0, 0);

  • GameKit server disconnect makes session invalid

    - by Markus
    Hi everyone, I'm trying to build a 4 player multiplayer game using GameKit. I tried many things and I'm currently using client/server mode, meaning that I have 1 session in GKSessionModeServer and 3 other sessions connecting to this one in GKSessionModeClient. My goal is, that when a user leaves the game or gets disconnected for whatever reason, that the others can continue their game. So far this works if any of the Clients leave the game, but if the Sevrer leaves the game, send and receive calls are not reaching the other peers anymore. I tried the same with 4 peers in GKSessionModePeer with the same result (where the player who accepts connections cannot quit). Does anyone had better success in making this work? Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks!

Are there anyways to tell the app that the purchasing was completed and new item was added on my list so that I can reload my tableView. At this time I reloading my table view by adding [myTableView reloadData] in viewWillAppear method. But what if the user was already viewing the tableView, I can't reload the tableView because the viewWillAppear had passed. thanks...
