• Adding UIView on top of all views dynamically during runtime?

  Team, I am trying to bring a menu in top of all visible views during runtime. This menu should be easily addable and removable dynamically in certain conditions. To do this, I have tried adding a button view to the UIWindow as a subview during runtime. UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; [button addTarget:self action:nil forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchDown]; [button setTitle:@"Show View" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; button.frame = CGRectMake(80.0, 210.0, 160.0, 40.0); [window addSubview:button]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; [window bringSubviewToFront:button]; But it doesnt worked. Also I have tried to place this button in the root view controller, but no luck again. Edit - Note: This code is not from a UIViewController. I am trying to build a library this will be in that library code. Use case be like you could post NSNotification to enable and disable this menu dynamically during runtime. Please suggest. Thanks !

  In a *.cpp file, trying to use a third party lib: #define DLL_IMPORT #include <thirdParty.h> // Third party header has code like: // #ifdef DLL_IMPORT // #define DLL_DECL __declspec(dllimport) // fatal error C1001: An internal error has occurred in the compiler. Alternative: #define NO_DLL #include <thirdParty.h> // Third party header has code like: // #elif defined(NO_DLL) // #define DLL_DECL // Compiles fine, but linker errors as can't find DLL functions // I can reproduce results by remove macros and #define all together and manually editing the third party files to have __declspec(dllimport) or not Has anyone come across anything similar, or can hint at the cause? (which is created using CMake). Above is actual example of 2 line *.cpp that crashes so it's narrowed down to something in the #include. The following also work fine: Compile the examples provided by the third party (they provide a *.sln) that use dllimport/export so it doesn't appear to be the fault of the library Compile the third party lib as part of the production project (so dllexport works fine) I've trawled the project settings pages of the two projects to try and spot differences, but have come up blank. Of course, it's possible I'm missing something as those settings pages are not the easiest to navigate. I'll get access to VS2008 in a day or so, so can compare with that. The third party library is MySql++.

  I'd like to write an AppleScript program to do the following (Automator would be fine too): I want to open the current active TextMate file (possibly there are several tabs open and other windows) with the application Transmit 2. (This will upload the file over FTP using Transmit's DockSend feature.) Here I've used a specific application (TextMate) but ideally I'd like it to work for any file currently active in any application. Ultimately I will assign a keyboard shortcut to run it. Here's what I have so far: tell application (path to frontmost application as text) set p to path of document 1 end tell tell application "Finder" open POSIX file p using "Transmit 2" end tell I've tried many variants of this and nothing works. EDIT: I have found this page: http://wiki.macromates.com/Main/Howtos and someone has made exactly the script I'm looking for: tell application "Transmit" to open POSIX file "$TM_FILEPATH" This is for Transmit [not 2] and I think for TextMate pre v2. I get the error (when using Transmit 2): Transmit 2 got an error: AppleEvent handler failed. One of the updates to v2 has broken it (not sure which one).

  I'm coding a Jquery Mobile 1.2, Jquery 1.8.2, css, and HTML 5 based app that I need to allow the user to select multiple images and execute a command. • How would I construct a terminal command to download a folder with wget from a Media Temple (gs) ser

  I'm trying to download a folder using wget on the Terminal (I'm usin a Mac if that matters) because my ftp client sucks and keeps timing out. It doesn't stay connected for long. So I was wondering if I could use wget to connect via ftp protocol to the server to download the directory in question. I have searched around in the internet for this and have attempted to write the command but it keeps failing. So assuming the following: ftp username is: [email protected] ftp host is: ftp.s12345.gridserver.com ftp password is: somepassword I have tried to write the command in the following ways: wget -r ftp://[email protected]:[email protected]/path/to/desired/folder/ wget -r ftp://serveradmin:[email protected]/path/to/desired/folder/ When I try the first way I get this error: Bad port number. When I try the second way I get a little further but I get this error: Resolving s12345.gridserver.com... 71.46.226.79 Connecting to s12345.gridserver.com|71.46.226.79|:21... connected. Logging in as serveradmin ... Login incorrect. What could I be doing wrong?

• Updating Cells in a DataTable

  I'm writing a small app to do a little processing on some cells in a CSV file I have. I've figured out how to read and write CSV files with a library I found online, but I'm having trouble: the library parses CSV files into a DataTable, but, when I try to change a cell of the table, it isn't saving the change in the table! Below is the code in question. I've separated the process into multiple variables and renamed some of the things to make it easier to debug for this question. Code Inside the loop: string debug1 = readIn.Rows[i].ItemArray[numColumnToCopyTo].ToString(); string debug2 = readIn.Rows[i].ItemArray[numColumnToCopyTo].ToString().Trim(); string debug3 = readIn.Rows[i].ItemArray[numColumnToCopyFrom].ToString().Trim(); string towrite = debug2 + ", " + debug3; readIn.Rows[i].ItemArray[numColumnToCopyTo] = (object)towrite; After the loop: readIn.AcceptChanges(); When I debug my code, I see that towrite is being formed correctly and everything's OK, except that the row isn't updated: why isn't it working? I have a feeling that I'm making a simple mistake here: the last time I worked with DataTables (quite a long time ago), I had similar problems. If you're wondering why I'm adding another comma in towrite, it's because I'm combining a street address field with a zip code field - I hope that's not messing anything up. My code is kind of messy, as I'm only trying to edit one file to make a small fix, so sorry.

  I'm trying to create a script that allows me to upload an image, grab the details sent through inputs (a description and chosen project number) and insert this information into a table. The dbconnect class isn't at fault as it's untampered and has been used in past projects. The error logs don't give any output and no MySQL errors show. Any ideas?

  It looks like I cannot use Desktop.open() on PDF files regardless of location. But in my case some additional parameters computed in f1 for test() methods are required double test ( const TData &arg, const TData &arg2, char *arg3.... ) { } How to inject these parameters into test() (and so to f2) to avoid changing the source code of the f2 methods (that is not trivial), redesign of the library and without dirty hacks :-) ? The most simple step is to override f2 static double f2 (double ( * p_test ) ( const TData &arg ), const TData &arg2, char *arg3.... ) But what to do later? • Trouble defining method for Javascript class definition.

  I'm somewhat new to object oriented programming in Javascript and I'm trying to build a handler object and library for a list of items I get back from an API call. Ideally, I'd like the library functions to be members of the handler class. I'm having trouble getting my class method to work however. • Dynamic External Program in debug tab vs2008

  I am playing with NServiceBus using the generic host; specifically I'm working on having 2 different configurations, a debug configuration that logs to the console and a release version that logs to metabase (I'm using VS2008). I had just made some code changes (commented out a logging statement), but it was still showing in the log when I ran my solution. I eventually figured out that I had switched configuration to release, made my change, then built. I think the change isn’t being picked up because in the debug tab of my project properties I have the following (abbreviated) path to the generic host: C:...\Inventory\bin\Debug\NServiceBus.Host.exe Notice it specifically points to the debug directory. So basically even though I’m in release config it’s firing up the host in the debug directory which I think is then using the dll's in the debug directory (which is why my changes didn't get picked up). I tried to come up with a workaround, but have been unsuccessful. VS Macros (like $(Configuration)) and relative pathing are not allowed here. http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/422223/relative-path-not-allowed-in-c-project-debug-properties-window Any ideas? I hope this doesn’t require a custom build task.

• Joomla get plugin id

  I wrote a Joomla plugin which will eventually load a library. The path to library is a plugin parameter, as such when the path is incorrect, a message pops up in the backend, together with a link to edit the plugin parameters: /administrator/index.php?option=com_plugins&view=plugin&client=site&task=edit&cid[]=36 See the 36 at the end? That's my plugin's id in the database (table jos_plugins). My issue is that this id changes on installation, ie, on different installs, it would be something else. So I need to find this id programmatically. The problem is that I couldn't find this id from the plugin object itself (as to why not, that would be joomla's arguably short-sighted design decision). So unless you know about some neat trick, (I've checked and double checked JPlugin and JPluginHelper classes), I'll be using the DB.   Here is the thing, I'm working with ASP.NET and I'm using this particular SignalR library to broadcast a video to my clients, but as far as I know I can not stream video because signalR is a messaging system and it is not intended to stream video, files or things like that. Now what I am trying to do is to split the video into buffers that is Base64-encoded into a string, then on the client I am decoding this string and I am trying to load it into the source of a Video tag. • Preserving the order of annotations

  When obtaining the list of fields using getFields() and getDeclaredFields(), the order of the fields in a Java class is undefined. I need this order in my validation library. Since the order is not preserved (though some claim that the order is preserved in JDK 6 and above but is not guaranteed across VMs). I cannot speculate on this because the order of annotations across fields is absolutely essential for the library. One way to get around this is to have an order or an index attribute in my Annotation. What worries me is that the code could become a bit cumbersome for maintaining in the following case. If the use wants to insert a new annotated field then, he might have to renumber all the other annotations in the class. I could have the order or index as a floating point number - float or double but , it wouldn't look good to have order such as 1, 1.5, 2, etc., What would be an elegant solution for this problem? Yes, I have made sure to use session_start. Am I missing something? Update At least now I know what the problem is! But I am not sure how to solve it without it getting messy to pass across session variables. Any ideas?

• How to transfer Eclipse workspace and project from Windows to Linux and Mac

  We have a a product developed on Windows for years. The product is composed of one Eclipse workspace and about 20 projects. On Windows, we ask every developer check out projects into d:\dev\product folder, and copy a unified Workspace to d:\dev\prod_workspace. This way, whenever a new machine is set, we simply copy files to the same folder, and we can start working immediately. No We need to move our development environment to Linux and Mac. But there's no D:\ on Unix. And home folder for Linux is mostly like /home/username and /Users/username for Mac. We found Eclipse keeps absolute path in workspace when referring to projects, so simply copy workspace over does not work anymore. Even when we manually create/configure workspace on a Linux machine, it still cannot be copied over to another user, because the absolute path is changed. I guess our goal is to allow easy setup of development environment. Do you have any suggestion to move eclipse workspace around? Thanks! Li

How can I update those file paths or otherwise get the URLs to work?

My first attempt was something like this... public struct Vector<T> { public readonly int Dimensions; public readonly T[] Elements; // etc... } Unfortunately, Elements, being an array, is also a reference type. Thus, doing this, Vector<int> a = ...; Vector<int> b = a; a[0] = 1; b[0] = 2; would result in both a[0] and b[0] equaling 2. My second attempt was to define an interface IVector<T>, and then use Reflection.Emit to automatically generate the appropriate type at runtime. The resulting classes would look roughly like this: public struct Int32Vector3 : IVector<T> { public int Element0; public int Element1; public int Element2; public int Dimensions { get { return 3; } } // etc... } This seemed fine until I found out that interfaces seem to act like references to the underlying object. If I passed an IVector to a function, and changes to the elements in the function would be reflected in the original vector. What I think is my problem here is that I need to be able to create classes that have a user specified number of fields. I can't use arrays, and I can't use inheritance. Does anyone have a solution? EDIT: This library is going to be used in performance critical situations, so reference types are not an option.

• Testing Hibernate DAO, without building the universe around it.

  We have an application built using spring/Hibernate/MySQL, now we want to test the DAO layer, but here are a few shortcomings we face. Consider the use case of multiple objects connected to one another, eg: Book has Pages. The Page object cannot exist without the Book as book_id is mandatory FK in Page. For testing a Page I have to create a Book. This simple usecase is easy to manage, but if you start building a Library, till you don't create the whole universe surrounding the Book and Page, you cannot test it! So to test Page; Create Library Create Section Create Genre Create Author Create Book Create Page Now test Page. Is there an easy way to by pass this "universe creation" and just test he page object in isolation. I also want to be able to test HQLs related to Page. eg: SELECT new com.test.BookPage (book.id, page.name) FROM Book book, Page page. JUnit is supposed to run in isolation, so I have to write the whole test case to create the Page. Any tips will be useful.

  I post this question has followup of This question, since the thread is not recieving more answers. I'm trying to understand if it is possible to pass as a parameter of a CLR stored procedure a large amount of data as "0x5352532F...". This is to avoid to send the data directly to the CLR stored procedure, instead of sending ti to a temporary DB field and from there passing it as varbinary(max) parmeter to the CLR stored procedure. I have a triple question: 1) is it possible, if yes how? Let's say i want to pass a pdf file to the CLR stored procedure (not the path, the full bits that make up the file). Something like: exec MyCLRStoredProcs.dbo.insertfile @file_remote_path ='c:\temp\test_file.txt' , @file_contents=0x4D5A90000300000004000.... --(this long list is the file content) where insertfile is a stored proc that writes to the server path (at file_remote_path) the binary data I pass as (file_contents). 2) is it there corruption risk of adopting this approach (or it is the same approach that sql server uses behind the scenes)? 3) how to convert the content of a file into the "0x23423..." hexadecimal representation
