• How can I use apt-get to resolve package dependencies when there are multiple versions in the repository?

  I've package a-package.deb which depends on b-package.deb in version 1.0. Everything works fine. But now a b-package in version 1.1 gets added to the repository. I'd suspect that apt-get installs the a-package and version 1.0 of the b-package. What really happens is, that a-package won't get installed: # apt-get install a-package Reading package lists... This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. • Trouble Starting MySL Community Server on Windows 7

  I have installed Netbeans 7 on my Windows 7. In addition, the MySQL Community Server 5.6.12 is installed with the MSI installer on thesame 7 PC. The MySQL server is integrated with the Netbeans IDE. However , it is not possible to start or stop the MySQL server from the command prompt or the Netbeans IDE. I am only able to start or stop the server from the Windows 7 services tool. Also , it is difficult running SQL queries from the Netbeans IDE even though it shows there is connection with the MySQL server. I have added the my.ini file to the installed directory of the MySQL server , that is : C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6 below is the my.ini file : # For advice on how to change settings please see # http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/server-configuration-defaults.html # *** DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE. • Open source app to manage and run commands on cloud servers? [closed]

  I'm creating a SaaS platform, and I need a component / library that can create, delete and store the connection details for cloud servers. It also needs to support executing shell commands on these servers and returning the response to the caller. I want a central database of servers and their configuration, plus the ability to reach out and manage the servers via SSH execution of bash scripts. I don't want something that needs agents on every server like Chef. For example, this command is received by the hypothetical application: CREATE USER server = server12345 name = myuser It's translated into the following set of actions and executed by the app, which knows how to connect to server12345, and how to create a user on that server: $ ssh root@server12345 $ adduser myuser And returns the output from the shell: Added user myuser. I've done research on Google and can't quite quite find something that does this already. I've found: fabric This part handles the executing of the shell commands very elegantly, and can take multiple server definitions, but it's supposed to be a deployment tool so doesn't do everything that would be required above - for example, it doesn't have a daemon mode where it listens for commands - it expects to be executed on the shell. It also can't provide the central database functionality. libcloud This library can handle the server admin (CRUD) part, but doesn't have a command interface daemon either, and doesn't let you execute commands on the servers. I guess I need something that is a combination of libcloud, fabric and django for an API. Or something else that does that same thing regardless of language. Overmind Overmind is a GUI and wrapper around libcloud, but doesn't support the command execution part. What am I missing here?

  I am in the process of rewriting an old application. I guess that maybe the encryption / decryption process uses the application name / file or something and therefore means I can not open it. Does anyone have an idea as to: A) Be able explain why this isn't working? B) Offer a solution that would allow me to be able to open files that were created with the legacy application and be able to convert them please? • Magento - edit form in custom module grid

  I have a custom module and I have a working grid to menage the module items in the admin. My module file structore is : app\code\local\G4R\GroupSales\Block\Adminhtml\Groupsale\ I want to add an edit form so I can view and edit each item in the grid. The relationship within A and B is OneToMany, and the property related in B is part of a composite key.   Hi, This is the first time I have attempted to make a form using jquery and php. I used the folks over at Mid Mo Design as an example but even with that tutorial am still having trouble getting it to do what I want. This is the code I have been using. • Spring's EntityManager not persisting

  Well, my project was using EJB and JPA (with Hibernate), but I had to switch to Spring. Everything was working well before that. The EJB used to inject the EntityManager, controled the transaction, etc. Ok, when I switched to Spring, I had a lot of problems because I'm new on Spring. But after everything is running, I have the problem: the data is never saved on database. I configured my Spring to control the transactions, I have spring beans used in JSF, that has spring services that do the hard work. This services have a EntityManager injected and use @Transactional REQUIRED. This services pass the EntityManager to a DAO that call entityManager.persist(bean). The selects appears to work well, the JTA transaction appears to work well to (I saw in log), but the entity is not saved!   I have been tasked with sifting through the worst classic asp spaghetti i've ever come across. The script runs a series of recordsets in sequence, getting 1 record at a time. As the record is built it takes the id and passes it to the next loop, which gets data, and passes on the id to the next loop. It then continues in this manner and builds an unordered list, kicking out the required html as it goes. Here are my efforts so far: have a class delivering data via sqldatareaders and output these to nested repeaters (this failed due to not being able to loop and get the id) Have a datatable populated with all the required data, then datatable.select to filter it out. have 4 datareaders looping and building the ul arraylists (I couldnt get the id's to match up) Please can you suggest the best method (with a bit of sample code if possible) to go about doing this conversion? • wrong return value with jquery ajax and codeigniter

  I do not know if this is specifically a jquery problem, actually I think it has to mostly do with my logic in the php code. What Im trying to do is make a voting system that when the user clicks on the vote up or vote down link in the web page, it triggers an ajax call to a php function that first updates the database with with the required value, on success of the database updating the another function is called just to get the required updated html for the that particular post that the user has voted on. (hope I havnt lost you). The problem I think deals with specifically with this one line of code. When I make the call it only returns the value of $row-beer_down and completly ignores everything else in that line. • `svn checkout` on the SVN server causes the repo to break with a 301 error

  We have an nginx server which proxies to a standard set-up of Apache+SVN. The nginx set-up is a very simple proxy: server { server_name svn.ourdomain.tld; location / { proxy_pass http://localhost:8080; } } Apache is set-up as follows: <Location /> DAV svn SVNParentPath /var/svn AuthType Basic AuthName "Authentication Required" AuthUserFile /var/svn/.auth Require valid-user </Location> ...which allows us to access repositories using something like http://svn.ourdomain.tld/repo. We've been running this set-up now for about 2 years without issue. Recently we've found that we need to check out one of the repositories onto the server itself, however whenever we do so it seems to break the repo. From that point on, it will only respond with a 301 Moved Permanently error. We've tried: svn co file:///path/to/repo svn co svn://localhost/repo svn co svn://svn.ourdomain.tld/repo svn co svn+ssh://localhost/repo svn co svn+ssh://svn.ourdomain.tld/repo svn co http://localhost/repo svn co http://svn.ourdomain.tld/repo Also tried bypassing nginx, and get the same error: svn co http://localhost:8080/repo svn co http://svn.ourdomain.tld:8080/repo Checking out from a different machine works as expected until we attempt to check out on the server, after that it refuses with the same 301 error. What is more confusing is that this repository server also hosts our HudsonCI server, which can pulls and builds our projects hourly. This leads us to suspect that it's the svn client which is causing an error in communication. Its also very confusing that removing then re-creating the repo using svnadmin doesn't reset the error - the repo is still unavailable even though it's "new"! Restarting apache and subversion (svnserve) has no effect on this, or the original error. Version information: OS: 64-bit CentOS 4.2, 2.6.27 kernel svn client: 1.4.2 (same for both server and remote clients) svn server: 1.4.2 httpd: 2.2.3 UPDATE: This also happens with svn export when run on the repo server. Ran from any other box/client, there isn't a problem. Here's the workflow, to help clarify the error: [~repo-server~]# svnadmin create {repo}; chown -Rf www:www {repo} [remote-client]# svn checkout http://svn.ourdomain.tld/repo [remote-client]# svn add file; svn ci -m '' [~repo-server~]# cd /var/www; svn export file:///path/to/repo/trunk ourproject [remote-client]# svn update fails with 301 error I can also confirm that the hostname of the box doesn't have an effect here, which is very odd: whether or not svn.ourdomain.tld is added to /etc/hosts it still breaks - we thought it could be an issue with localhost routing, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Are we missing something in the documentation which states you can't checkout a repo when the server is on the same box? How can we stop the repos becoming corrupt when we checkout locally?

• How do I get a .Net 4.0 app to coexist as an application under a SharePoint 2007 website in IIS v7?

  I have created a small .Net 4.0 website and installed it on my SharePoint server as a separate web site in IIS v7 (using port 8008 for now). I had to install the .Net 4 framework, set up the database, etc. and this all went smoothly and my app works as a standalone website. Now I am trying to get pages from my website to show up in SharePoint 2007. For various reasons (the SharePoint site is using SSL, security, etc.) I now need to move my .Net app to run under the SharePoint 2007 site in IIS. I have added it as an 'Application' and set it up with the same .Net v4 application pool and settings that were working when it was set up as a standalone site. Now when I try to access the application I get the error at the end of this description. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I already tried following the instructions on this post: http://blogs.msdn.com/sgoodyear/archive/2007/05/07/custom-web-applications-coexisting-with-sharepoint-2007.aspx but that did not help. Thanks! • 500 internal server error on certain page after a few hours

  I am getting a 500 Internal Server Error on a certain page of my site after a few hours of being up. I restart uWSGI instance with uwsgi --ini /home/metheuser/webapps/ers_portal/ers_portal_uwsgi.ini and it works again for a few hours. The rest of the site seems to be working. When I navigate to my_table, I am directed to the login page. But, I get the 500 error on my table page on login. I followed the instructions here to set up my nginx and uwsgi configs. That is, I have ers_portal_nginx.conf located i my app folder that is symlinked to /etc/nginx/conf.d/. • mount_afp on linux, user rights

  I need to mount a remote filesystem on a linux box using the afp protocol. The linux box runs an old Debian 4. I downloaded the source code of mount_afp, compiled it and installed it with all the required packages. Then created /etc/fuse with the following command: mknod /dev/fuse c 10 229 (according to the instructions here) I can mount the remote filesystem as root by executing: mount_afp afp://USER:PASSWD@REMOTE_SERVER/FOLDER /mnt/MOUNTPOINT/ but the same command fails when run as normal user (of the local machine). After reading here and there, I created a group fuse, and added my normal user U to the group fuse: [prompt] groups U U fuse Then modified the group of /dev/fuse, that now has the following rights: 0 crwxrwx--- 1 root fuse 10, 229 Feb 8 15:33 /dev/fuse However, if the user U tries to mount the remote filesystem by using the same command as above, U gets the following error: Incorrect permissions on /dev/fuse, mode of device is 20770, uid/gid is 0/1007. But your effective uid/gid is 1004/1004 But the user U with uid 1004 has also gid 1007 (group fuse). I might think the problem is related to real/effective/etc. ID, but I do not know how to proceed and could not find any clear instructions. Could you please help me? There is also another problem. If I mount /mnt/MOUNTPOINT as root and run ls -l /mnt, I get: drwxrwxrwx 15 root root 466 Feb 8 16:34 MONTPOINT If I run ls -l /mnt as normal user U I get: ? ?????????? ? ? ? ? ? MOUNTPOINT in fact when I try to cd /mnt/MOUNTPOINT I get: $-> cd /mnt/MOUNTPOINT -sh: cd: /mnt/MOUNTPOINT: Not a directory Then I unmount /mnt/MOUNTPOINT as root and run again ls -l /mnt as normal user U I get: 0 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 6 Feb 8 15:32 MOUNTPOINT/ After reading Frank's answer, I killed every shell/process running with privileges of user U. Still U cannot mount the remote filesystem, but the error message has changed. Now it is: "Login error: Authentication failed". The problem is not related to remote login/password since the same command works perfectly when run as root of the local machine. Since I cannot get mount_afp to work with normal users, I decided to follow mgorven's suggestion. So I run the commands: mount_afp -o allow_other afp://USER:PASSWD@REMOTE_SERVER/FOLDER /mnt/MOUNTPOINT/ and mount_afp -o user=U afp://USER:PASSWD@REMOTE_SERVER/FOLDER /mnt/MOUNTPOINT/ The mount succeeds but user U cannot access the mount point. If U executes ls -l in /mnt U@LOCAL_HOST [/mnt] $-> ls -l ls: cannot access MOUNT_POINT: Permission denied total 0 ? ?????????? ? ? ? ? ? MOUNT_POINT Is it so hard to have this utility working?

• passwd ldap request to ActiveDirectory fails on half of 2500 users

  We just setup ActiveDirectory in my company and imported all linux users and groups. On the linux client: (configured to ask ldap in nsswitch.conf): If i do a common ldapsearch to the AD ldap server i get the complete number of about 2580 users. But if i do this it only gets a part of all users, 1221 in number: getent passwd | wc -l Running it with strace shows kind of attempt to reconnect My ideas were: Does the linux authentication procedure run ldapsearch with a parameter incompatible to AD ldap ? Or probably it is a encoding issue. The windows user are entered in AD with all kind of characters. Maybe someone could shed light on this and give a hint how to debug that further!?
