    I change an image in the header based on which menu item is selected. The problem is that the image stretches in the image control. I want it to automatically zoom without distorting the image. Is this possible. Note: The images reside in an images folder and are not all the same size.   • Dispatching generic tasks in WCF or .Net Remoting

    Hello all, I've been researching for a couple days on and off, and have yet to figure out the best way to achieve the following goal. I would like to define either an interface or abstract class in C# which has an associated Run method, similar to the Java runnable interface. The goal would be to have a shared queue which contains a list of these objects. Then individual clients would be able to derive their own concrete runnable classes and add them to the queue hosted by the server. Clients would also be able to pop these runnable objects off the queue and execute them arbitrarily. This seems like it should be feasible in a VM based language without needing to place any of the concrete implementations in a shared assembly, but I have thus far had no luck finding a working example of such a system. Does anyone know how this might be achieved?

  • Question about inserting/updating rows with MS SQL (ASP.NET MVC)

    I have a very big table with a lot of rows, every row has stats for every user for certain days. And obviously I don't have any stats for future. So to update the stats I use UPDATE Stats SET Visits=@val WHERE ... a lot of conditions ... AND Date=@Today But what if the row doesn't exist? I'd have to use INSERT INTO Stats (...) VALUES (Visits=@val, ..., Date=@Today) How can I check if the row exists or not? Is there any way different from doing the COUNT(*)? If I fill the table with empty cells, it'd take hundreds of thousands of rows taking megabytes and storing no data.

  • VB.Net Memory Issue

    We have an application that has some interesting memory usage issues. When it first opens, the program uses aroun 50-60MB of memory. This stays consistent on 32-bit machines. On 64-bit machines, however, re-activating the form in any way (clicking, dragging, alt-tabbing, etc.) adds around another 50MB to it's memory usage. It repeats this process several times before resetting back to around 45MB, at which point the cycle begins again. I've done some research and a lot of people have said that VB in general has pretty poor garbage collection, which could be affecting the software in some way. However, I've yet to find a solution. There are no events fired when the application is activated (as shown by 32-bit usage) - the applications is merely sitting awaiting the user's actions. At load, the system pulls some data into a tree view, but that's the only external connection, and it only re-fires the routine when the user makes a change to something and saves the change. Has anyone else experienced anything this strange, and if so, does anyone know of what might fix it? It seems strange that it only occurs under x64 systems. Thanks

    Hi, In VS2003, I am trying to find out the particular page where the request is coming from. I want to identify the exact aspx page name. Is there a way to only get the page name or some how strip the page name? Currently I am using the following instruction... string referencepage = HttpContext.Current.Request.UrlReferrer.ToString(); and I get the following result... "http://localhost/MyPage123.aspx?myval1=3333&myval2=4444; I want to get the result back with out any query string parameters and be able to identify the page MyPage123.aspx accurately...     Hi everybody. i'm using jquery 1.3.2, and have a problem in situatsuin where i fill select via getJson $.each(data, function() { $("#select_elem").append("<option value='"+this.Value+"'>" + this.Value + "</option>"); }); and after, when i try to get selected value : var sel_val = $("#select_elem"); alert(sel_val.val()); in IE it works, in FF it always shows the first value in list, in chrome it's always null. is there any way to fix this?   • Be notified of method calls in .NET

    Basically, what I want to do is to be notified whenever a specific method has been called. I was hoping I could accomplish this using Reflection, but my attempts haven't gotten me anywhere yet, so I'm hoping that perhaps somebody else with the same need has accomplished this before and can enlighten me. I figured using MethodInfo was the way to go, but like I said, I found nothing there that could help me accomplish what I wanted to do. Any suggestions, hints or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

  • I can't find the homepage for my ASP.NET MVC site :(

    Hi folks, really simple question here. when I remove the default route, I returns an empty page to the browser :- routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional } ); Now before everyone starts shouting "that's because that's the default route to access all action methods, etc.." .. i know that. My question is - what code / routes does the default framework try and call .. which makes that Default Route get used/kick in? Why? I don't wish to make that my default route regex (don't ask why - this is some R&D) but I still need the main home page .. ie. Home/Index . If i try and just add that route, it doesn't get called and an empty page is returned. So -- what does the framework try and call when a user doesn't provide any urls? It's like there's some secret default document stuff set up? Cheers :)
