  • Squid Log Rotation and Sarg

    We have just setup squid as our proxy, and i was going to use Sarg to analyze the log files. I had initially set the Squid logs to rotate everyday so they dont get huge. The problem is i cant see an option in the squid config to read a folder full of squid log files (say *.log). Is there an easy way to do this or am i going to have to write a bash script or something to process them all into one before i get squid to read it? Cheers Luke

  • Ubuntu stopped recognizing my iPod

    Rythmbox on Ubuntu 10.10 used to recognize my 3rd gen Nano and transfer mp3s. Now I plug it in and Ubuntu doesn't pop-up that box that asks what you want to do anymore. It is only recognized if I reboot and the thing is plugged in.     I need to monitor some ftp servers for any changes in file structure, things that I need to monitor is how many times an file is downloaded (not sure if possible), if files are changed or not, if files are deleted or not, if ftp server still exists, i would like this to be something that i can run server=side and would like a sms message or email if any of the above changes have occured any one have any experience or would recommend an particular language or script? thanks just for reference, i don't want to install an ftp server, i just want something to help me monitor other remote ftp servers by periodically logging in

    Since transferring or copying a file that is being used sometimes causes corruption of the transferred file, can we define a time interval in which Rsync checks each file in a given directory to see if there is a change within that time interval ? Files that are not changed during that interval will be transferred, while those that have changes will not. Can I do that with rsync ? Or another tool ? Is there a script to add this functionality to Rsync ? Thanks

    Just started working with CentOS 5 after wanting to leave Ubuntu server for something a bit more industry-standard, and while trying to configure php-cgi, I run into this: [root@~~~~~~~ run]# /etc/init.d/php_cgi start Starting php-cgi: spawn-fcgi: child exited with: 255 [FAILED] Not 100% sure what's happening here, but no Google result returns anything regarding error code 255.   • Command-line tool to deduplicate a single humongous file?

    I make regular snapshots of my VM using a nightly script. These backups are compressed using WinRAR and do shrink considerably, but I suspect it's not as efficient as had the file had been deduplicated first (just a hunch which I'm hoping to test). So instead of compressing the VHD itself, I would like to deduplicate the single file first, and then compress the output of the deduplicator. Is anyone aware of such a CLI tool?

So i checked with direct admin.. the file permission(GUID, UID) is set by APACHE while rest of file is set by my username, So my question now is.. the trojan did this is originated from my computer or host side?

The database name and credentials are stored in a .env file in the project's root. What would be the idiomatic way to use these variables when provisioning MySQL? Should I write a custom script that generates a YAML file from my .env, and then use the include_vars module? Or is there a simpler way?

    Instead of typing this in a command prompt one at a time: wmic /node:ipaddress /user:administrator /password:mypassword bios get serialnumber How can I run that against one entire subnet and output to a text document? Since I do this every couple months to verify our inventory of computers, I would assume there would be a much of easier way I could put this in a batch script instead of doing it manually.

    Currently I do something like this: telnet 192.168.0.3 23 username password cd /dir/ programname -s -g dosomething I want to do this with one step, the coolest would be to compile a program for this using Automator, but i have no idea how to do that. "shell script" in Automator fails at telnet 192.168.0.3 23 saying "connection refused" of course: I had no chance to type in password and so on. Any ideas?
