• C# WebClient - View source question

  I'm using a C# WebClient to post login details to a page and read the all the results. The page I am trying to load includes flash (which, in the browser, translates into HTML). I'm guessing it's flash to avoid being picked up by search engines??? The flash I am interested in is just text (not an image/video) etc and when I "View Selection Source" in firefox I do actually see the text, within HTML, that I want to see. (Interestingly when I view the source for the whole page I do not see the text, within HTML, that I want to see. Could this be related?) Currently after I have posted my login details, and loaded the HTML back, I see the page which does NOT show the flash HTML (as if I had viewed source for the whole page). • Branching logic in an MVC view

  I find myself writing a lot of code in my views that looks like the code below. In this case, I want to add some explanatory HTML for a novice, and different HTML for an expert user. <% if (ViewData["novice"] != null ) { % some extra HTML for a novice <% } else { % some HTML for an expert <% } % This is presentation logic, so it makes sense that it is in a view vs the controller. However, it gets ugly really fast, especially when ReSharper wants to move all the braces around to make it even uglier (is there a way to turn that off for views?). My question is whether this is proper, or should I branch in the controller to two separate views? If I do two views, I will have a lot of duplicated HTML to maintain. Or should I do two separate views with a shared partial view of the stuff that is in common?

• After Port Forwarding, how to get my external IP in Java ?

  I set up a static IP and did port forwarding on my notebook, and now I have a static IP address, but it's relatively static, every time I re-start the machine, I get another address, and since I have a "static" IP I can now do Paypal IPN messaging. But how can I get this static IP from my Java program ? One way I can think of is to visit : http://portforward.com/ and on that page it tells me what my external IP is, so I can extract it with Java code, is there any other way that I can do in my Java code to get this info ?

  I have a baseclass with a protected static ArrayList. I want to have a seperate ArrayList for each kind of subclass that extends this baseclass. This is when I applied CRTP: public class BaseExample<T> { protected static ArrayList<Integer> data = new ArrayList<Integer>(); } This works just fine. However, when I try to implement the following static method in the same base class, it doesn't adhere to CRTP: public static void clear() { data.clear(); } For example: class SubExample extends BaseExample<SubExample> { // insertion methods accessing 'data' field // these work fine :) } SubExample.clear(); // does not seem to clear data container Do I need to somehow explicitly specify T in my baseclass clear method? Note: These are all pure static classes.

  For parsing files i have setup a variable for template.ParseFiles and i currently have to manually set each file. Two things: How would i be able to walk through a main folder and a multitude of subfolders and automatically add them to ParseFiles so i dont have to manually add each file individually?   I have 'div' element (recaptchaDiv) in knockout template which is not bound to any observable field: <div id="recaptchaDiv"></div> On the other hand, I update this 'div' by 3rd party library. In particular, this is google recaptcha. This is my code: Recaptcha.create("[my private key]", "recaptchaDiv", { theme: "clean", callback: Recaptcha.ToTest }); And it doesn't work (I see nothing). • rails contoller defaults to respond with application/xml in production

  I have a standard contacts_controller.rb with index action that responds as follows: respond_to do |format| format.html format.xml { render :xml => @contacts } end In development, it works as intended: when I browse to http://localhost:3000/contacts, I get an html response. But, when I start the app using capistrano on a remote ubuntu server and browse to the same url, I get a xml response? If I go to http://remote_host:8000/contacts.html, then I see the html response. If I comment out the format.xml { render :xml => @contacts }, then I see the desired html response. Pretty sure I'm missing something subtle about difference between rails development and production modes? Any ideas about what I'm overlooking? Thanks, - Dave

  Hi, we're in the process of trying to speed up the performance of our website by serving static content from a cookieless domain. That seems to be going well, but I have a new question: I know that it's "static content" that we're talking about when serving it from a cookieless domain, but we also have static content being served by ASPX pages, specifically images. For example: domain.com/resizeImages.aspx?src=images/image123.jpg&width=400&height=400 Pretty standard stuff, and although it's being served by managed code, it's still a static image. So my question is: Is it ok to serve the resizeImages.aspx image from our cookieless/static domain? And if so, how do I go about stopping ASP.NET from setting a ANONYMOUSASPX cookie every time I try?   I am trying to match the sub domain of an url using http://([a-z0-9]*.)?example.com/.* which works perfectly for these cases. http://example.com/index.html http://test.example.com/index.html http://test1.example.com/index.html http://www.example.com/122/index.html But the problem is it matches for this URL too. http://www.test.com/?q=http://example.com/index.html if an URL with another domain has the URL in path it matches.Can any one tell me how to match for current domain only. getting the host will work but i need to match full URL.

I found one similar implementation, but the SingletonHolder class wasn't static, and included an explicit (empty) static constructor. Is this a valid, lazy, thread-safe way to implement the Singleton pattern? Or is there something I'm missing?

• htaccess not working as it should

  well, ofcourse its not working, im still a n00b :) this is the code that i have : Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteRule (.*)\.css - [S=7] RewriteRule (.*)\.jpg - [S=6] RewriteRule ^gallery gallery.html [L] RewriteRule (.*)/(.*)/ index.html?page=$2 [L] RewriteRule (.*)/(.*) index.html?page=$2 [L] RewriteRule (.*)/ index.html?page=$1 [L] RewriteRule (.*) index.html?page=$1 [L,QSA] Now, this works fine, if i try localhost/abc but it wont work if i try localhost/abc/ also, when i try localhost/abc/def (or localhost/abc/def/ for that matter) the css file isnt being included properly. i get an error saying /abc/def/style.css does not exist. :( however, the code doesnt work if i remove the QSA flag from the last rule. this is the code that ive come up with after a lot of googling and reading SO. if anyone can help out i'll be extremely grateful. thanks!

  I am trying to bind the dialog initiation (which happens in document ready) to a live or delegate for a div. Which one do you prefer? Any pros and cons for each? What's the best practice for this case? EDIT: Also would there be a performance difference between the two?

  In my javascript file I'm getting the content of a partial with the following call: $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: value.href.replace(actionType, actionType + 'Partial'), dataType: "html", success: function(result) { $("#DepartmentsAction").html(result); alert(result); } }); Because the partial has the call Html.EnableClientValidation() the resulting html has a static script in it. In the result variable in the ajax call this script is present. In the page where the html gets inserted (#DepartmentsAction) the script has dissapeared. What am I doing wrong?
