  • Tips on debugging copy and paste into powerpoint 2010

    I have a custom application in C++ that has been used to successfully copy-and-paste an object from the application into MS Office 2003 and 2007 (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). The object opens in our own custom activeX control. Now with windows XP and PowerPoint 2010, nothing happens on the cut-and-paste. I have tried turning off the smart copy/paste to no avail. Copy/paste works with Word and Excel 2010. Do you have tips on how to debug this? Thanks Andrew

    Hello All, I would like to filter one column in a table for couple values and show results only if all those values are there. If one or more is missing, then return zero results. example table +----+--------+----------+ | id | Fruit | Color | +----+--------+----------+ | 1 | apple | red | | 2 | mango | yellow | | 3 | banana | yellow | +----+--------+----------+ example "wrong" code: (this must return 3 rows) select Fruit FROM table WHERE Color = red AND Color = yellow but select Fruit FROM table WHERE Color = red AND Color = green must return 0 rows. (If i use select Fruit FROM table WHERE Color = red OR Color = green i get 1 row which is not what i need) I am using PHP with form where user checks different checkboxes that represent different values of the same column. So when he selects multiple checkboxes, all those values should be in the result set, otherwise no result should be given. Thank you, Andrew

  • NHibernate Linq queries not returning data saved in the same transaction

    Hi, I have a situation where I am using NHibernate in a WCF service and using a TransactionScope for the transaction management. NHibernate enlists in the ambient transaction fine, but, any changes I make and save inside the transaction, are not visible to any queries I make while still in that transaction. So if I add an entity and session.save() it, then further on in the code, there is a linq query against that entities table, the entity I just added is not returned. Strangely this seems to work fine if I use explicit NHibernate transactions in my tests. Anyone have any ideas as to why and what I can do about it? Many thanks Andrew

After googling for a while, I did not find any simple and easy to use implementation for logging and created my own. This is a simple implementation with iostreams that logs messages to screen and to the file simultaneously.   • jquery ui autocomplete not working in ie8 (until page refresh)

    Hello all, I am using jquery ui autocomplete it is working absolutely fine in all browsers except ie8. I have been doing some testing and there seems to be a strange bug. When I click on a link leading to the relevant page there is the following error generated by ie8 when I start typing in the autocomplete box: 'object doesn't support this property or method' this error points to my development jquery(1.4.2) file at line 4955, char 5 which is the following line: return new window.XMLHttpRequest(); However, if I simply reload the page the autocomplete works. I have added a random bit of data to be called with the autocomplete as I read that ie8 caches it ajax get requests but this does not seem to have solved the problem. Could there be a problem with the timing of the loading of all the relevant files including jquery? If so, how would I fix this? Any other clever ideas?! Andy

  • Trouble running setup package after Publishing in Visual Studio 2008

    I've got a small winform application that I've written that is running fine in the IDE. It builds with no errors or warnings. It's not using any third party controls. I'm coding in C# in Visual Studio 2008. When I Build -- Publish the application, everything seems to work fine. However, when I go and attempt to install the application via the setup.exe file I get an error message that says, "Application cannot be started." I'm thinking the China fiasco caused them to change something. Ideas?

  • JQuery UI tabs: How do I navigate directly to a tab from another page?

    JQuery UI tabs are implemented by named anchors in an unordered list. When you hover over one of the tabs you can see this in the link shown at the foot of the browser: http://mysite/product/3/#orders Above would be the "orders" tab for example. JQuery obviously intercepts the click to this anchor and opens the tab instead. However if I bookmark the link above or link to it from elsewhere in the site the page does not open on the specific tab. In the tab initialisation block I was considering putting in some code that looks for a named anchor in the URL and, if it finds one, does an index lookup of the tabs and calls the select on it. This would mean it will still work with JS switched off. But is there an easier/nicer/better way?

  • Resources to learn sh scripting 'just like a normal programming language'

    Hi, what is the best resource (book would be nice) to learn sh scripting (the "standard" shell on Unix systems) just like when i would learn a "normal" programming/scripting language ? There are lots of tutorials on certain aspects of shell scripting, they mostly deal with shells in general and unix commands and so on, but i would rather like to find a more general approach - meaning a quick syntactic overview and an outlook on how to do things you normally do when programming, like implementing small algorithms and so on. Doing actual scripting, not just a structured batch file. And rather 100-liners than 1-to-3-liners. Can you recommend a good standard book on the topic ?

  • Why is Available Physical Memory (dwAvailPhys) > Available Virtual Memory (dwAvailVirtual) in call G

    I am playing with an MSDN sample to do memory stress testing (see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc163613.aspx) and an extension of that tool that specifically eats physical memory (see http://www.donationcoder.com/Forums/bb/index.php?topic=14895.0;prev_next=next). I am obviously confused though on the differences between Virtual and Physical Memory. I thought each process has 2 GB of virtual memory (although I also read 1.5 GB because of "overhead". My understanding was that some/all/none of this virtual memory could be physical memory, and the amount of physical memory used by a process could change over time (memory could be swapped out to disc, etc.)I further thought that, in general, when you allocate memory, the operating system could use physical memory or virtual memory. From this, I conclude that dwAvailVirtual should always be equal to or greater than dwAvailPhys in the call GlobalMemoryStatus. However, I often (always?) see the opposite. What am I missing. I apologize in advance if my question is not well formed. I'm still trying to get my head around the whole memory management system in Windows. Tutorials/Explanations/Book recs are most welcome!     Dear all, I recently asked a question about creating elements with jquery. Specifically I needed input boxes created/deleted depending on the value of a particular select box. Is there a way to have the values remaining in the text boxes when the selection is changed? For example, lets say the select element value is set to '2' so that there are 2 input boxes showing. If there is input already entered in these boxes and the user changes the select element value to '3' is there a way to get the first 2 input boxes to retain their value?     I'm currently doing a bit of experimenting using Autofac-1.4.5.676, autofac contrib and castle DynamicProxy2. The goal is to create a coarse-grained profiler that can intercept calls to specific methods of a particular interface. The problem: I have everything working perfectly apart from the selective part. I gather that I need to marry up my interceptor with an IProxyGenerationHook implementation, but I can't figure out how to do this. My code looks something like this: The interface that is to be intercepted & profiled (note that I only care about profiling the Update() method) public interface ISomeSystemToMonitor { void Update(); // this is the one I want to profile void SomeOtherMethodWeDontCareAboutProfiling(); } Now, when I register my systems with the container, I do the following: // Register interceptor gubbins builder.RegisterModule(new FlexibleInterceptionModule()); builder.Register<PerformanceInterceptor>(); // Register systems (just one in this example) builder.Register<AudioSystem>() .As<ISomeSystemToMonitor>) .InterceptedBy(typeof(PerformanceInterceptor)); All ISomeSystemToMonitor instances pulled out of the container are intercepted and profiled as desired, other than the fact that it will intercept all of its methods, not just the Update method. Now, how can I extend this to exclude all methods other than Update()? As I said, I don't understand how I'm meant to say "for the ProfileInterceptor, use this implementation of IProxyHookGenerator". All help appreciated, cheers! Also, please note that I can't upgrade to autofac2.x right now; I'm stuck with 1.

    I'm working on a project in Unity3D with Javascript, and I'm trying to implement the SmartFoxServer API (http://smartfoxserver.com) in Javascript instead of their example C# code. I've gotten most of it converted correctly, but I am still getting an error at runtime with the following line involving delegation to a C# file that is in the API (SFSEvent.cs). C# original: SFSEvent.onConnection += HandleConnection; Javascript (or whatever I've turned it into): SFSEvent.onConnection = Delegate.Combine(HandleConnection); Error: InvalidCastException: Cannot cast from source type to destination type.

  • Bare-metal virtualisation for the desktop

    Hi, Does anyone have any knowledge about bare-metal virtualisation products? I'm interested in building a new desktop machine for home, I've been looking at the Intel Quad Core processors and I'd like to put 8GB of RAM in there, but, it got me thinking about making the most out of the available resources. I thought if I could get a good 64bit machine, put some bare-metal virtualisation on, then have a primary system, I'd also be able to bring up some extra virtualised systems as and when I needed. I know most of the bare metal systems are designed for the server market, but, is there anything out there that works well for a desktop. What are the caveats? I presume I won't be able to make the most out of any video cards I could buy, what about just getting a decent screen resolution, will this be a problem? I run a single 24" screen. What about DVD/CD writing, is this possible? I'd like to re-rip my CD collection, I was hoping the quad 64Bit goodness would help me out with the encoding. I currently use a Mac and couldn't go back to windows so that leaves Linux, I was thinking a primary OS of ubuntu. Does this make a difference? Thanks Andrew

    Using the OpenPOP .net client for getting messages from Gmail. I'm wondering how I can get only the new messages? Currently, I get the atom feed and then get as many emails as the feed has with the OpenPOP client (starting from the first). And how do I set the unread messages to be read?

  • How to declare more than one header on PHP

    I want to send my users to different pages based on user action. So I made multiple functions at the top of the page like so: <?php function one() { header("location: pagea.php"); } function two() { header("location: pageb.php"); } function three() { header("location: pagec.php"); } ?> Of course I get an error because I am re declaring headers. At first I though it was going to be okay since I am containing them inside functions and am calling any one function at a time. But still I get the error. Is there any other way of doing this?
