  • Fragment not showing up and breaks other buttons on Layout

    - by Devin Crane
I'm learning how to use Fragments, and trying to add a fragment tag_button.xml at runtime to a FrameLayout tagFragmentContainer deep within another layout, deepLayout.xml. I get no errors, but the fragment doesn't show up. When I make its container visible, I can see a small sliver of layout between the other elements already existing, but then it disappears after onCreateView(), and all the remaining buttons are broken, which is even more confusing to me. tag_button.xml is just a regular layout file with some text and a button. tagFragmentContainer, within a LinearLayout in the middle of a large layout file, deepLayout.xml: <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/tagButtonsLayout" android:layout_marginBottom="10dip" android:visibility="gone" style="@style/Form"> <FrameLayout android:id="@+id/tagFragmentContainer" android:layout_marginBottom="10dip" style="@style/Form"> </FrameLayout> </LinearLayout> In deepLayoutActivity, I make visible tagButtonsLayout and start TagButtonActivity: final LinearLayout anotherlm = (LinearLayout) findViewById(R.id.tagButtonsLayout); anotherlm.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); Intent i = new Intent (this, TagButtonActivity.class); startActivity(i); TagButtonActivity is as follows: public class TagButtonActivity extends FragmentActivity { @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.action_expense); if (savedInstanceState != null) return; TagButtonFragment firstFragment = new TagButtonFragment(); getSupportFragmentManager().beginTransaction().add(R.id.tagFragmentContainer, firstFragment, "tagOne").commit(); } } TagButtonFragment: public class TagButtonFragment extends Fragment { @Override public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container, Bundle savedInstanceState) { // Inflate the layout for this fragment return inflater.inflate(R.layout.tag_button, container, false); } } tag_button.xml: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" style="@style/Form"> <TextView android:id="@+id/tag_button_header" style="@style/FieldHeader" android:text="example text"/> <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/tag_button_block" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_marginLeft="2dip" android:layout_marginTop="3dip" android:layout_marginBottom="3dip" android:layout_marginRight="2dip" android:layout_height="43dip" android:clickable="true" android:background="@drawable/row_spinner_selector"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/question_arrow" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginLeft="10dip" android:layout_marginRight="10dip" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:layout_centerVertical="true" android:src="@drawable/arrow_right"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/tag_question_text" android:layout_toLeftOf="@id/question_arrow" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginLeft="10dip" android:layout_centerVertical="true" android:textColor="@android:color/black" android:singleLine="true" android:ellipsize="end" android:textSize="15sp" android:text="@string/not_selected"/> </RelativeLayout> </LinearLayout> I would certainly appreciate any help in figuring this out from someone who knows fragments better than me! Thanks!

  • ScrollView in android

    - by rantravee
    hi, I' have a view that contains several textViews an ImageView and a Button . Because on small screen devices (or in landscape mode on big ones ) not all are visible I use a Scroll as the parent of the whole hierarchy to allow the user to view all the information. The things are suck that the button must be at the buttom of the view . However on big screen device , where it remains enough space at the buttom , the button is put immediatelly below the last textview,and seems to occupy all the remaining space (resulting in an unnactractive view) . Trying to use android:allignParentButtom ="true" not only that it has no effect but it puts the button at top of the screen . Has anyone any ideea how could I accomplish what I described ? here's the xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <ScrollView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/scroll_view" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true"> <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/gps_info_page1" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true"> <TextView android:id="@+id/itsDateTimeValue" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true" android:text="@string/eStrUnknown"> </TextView> <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/directions" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true" android:layout_below="@+id/itsDateTimeValue" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView android:id="@+id/itsDirectionValue" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="0" android:layout_marginRight="2dip" android:textSize="20sp"> </TextView> <TextView android:id="@+id/itsOrientation" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textSize="20sp" android:layout_marginLeft="2dip" android:text="@string/eStrUnknown" android:layout_toRightOf="@+id/itsDirectionValue"> </TextView> </RelativeLayout> <ImageView android:id="@+id/itsImage" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:src="@drawable/compass" android:layout_below="@+id/directions" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true"> </ImageView> <RelativeLayout> ..."TextViews below the above image" </RelativeLayout> <RelativeLayout> ..."TextViews below the above" </RelativeLayout> <RelativeLayout> ..."TextViews below the above" </RelativeLayout> <RelativeLayout> ..."TextViews below the above" </RelativeLayout> <RelativeLayout ..."TextViews below the above" </RelativeLayout> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/div" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="1dip" android:layout_below="@+id/sunset_layout" android:background="#F333"> </LinearLayout> <Button //adding here android:alignParentBottom="true" has described above behavior android:layout_marginBottom="3dip" android:layout_marginTop="20dip" android:id="@+id/done_button" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/eStrDone" android:textSize="18sp" android:layout_below="@+id/div" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true"> </Button> </RelativeLayout> </ScrollView>

  • Please verify my layout: bottom button keeps coming up over keyboard

    - by steff
    Hi everyone, I have a layout which does almost what I want. There's just one bug regarding the button at the bottom. I should stay at the bottom at all times. But whenever I bring up the soft-keyboard the button will be displayed above the keyboard. This is not what I want but it should become covered by the keyboard. Moreover, I'd be happy if you could comment on how the layout's built. Thanks, steff <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/l_layout_tags" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal"> <TextView android:text="TAGS:" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> <AutoCompleteTextView android:id="@+id/actv_tags" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1" android:imeOptions="actionDone" /> <ImageButton android:id="@+id/btn_add_tag" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:src="@android:drawable/ic_input_add" android:onClick="addTag"/> </LinearLayout> <ScrollView android:id="@+id/sv_scroll_contents" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_below="@id/l_layout_tags" android:scrollbarFadeDuration="2000" > <TableLayout android:id="@+id/t_layout_contents" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:stretchColumns="1" android:paddingRight="5dip"> <TableRow android:id="@+id/tr_template"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/iv_blank" android:src="@android:color/transparent" /> <EditText android:id="@+id/et_content1" android:gravity="top" android:maxWidth="200dp" android:imeOptions="actionDone" /> </TableRow> </TableLayout> </ScrollView> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/l_layout_media_btns" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true" android:layout_below="@id/sv_scroll_contents" > <ImageButton android:id="@+id/btn_camera" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:src="@android:drawable/ic_menu_camera" android:onClick="takePicture" /> <ImageButton android:id="@+id/btn_video" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:src="@android:drawable/ic_menu_camera" /> <ImageButton android:id="@+id/btn_audio" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:src="@android:drawable/ic_btn_speak_now" /> <ImageButton android:id="@+id/btn_sketch" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:src="@android:drawable/ic_menu_edit" /> </LinearLayout> <ImageButton android:id="@+id/btn_save_note" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:src="@android:drawable/ic_menu_upload" /> </RelativeLayout>

  • Listview Row Overlap Problem

    - by rgrandy
    I just updated my app and I am getting some odd complaints from people who update it. I am only getting complaints from people with non-stock android phones (phones that manufacturers have modified...HTC phones, cliq, pulse, etc), other phones like the Droid, Nexus work fine. My app (Photo Frame Deluxe) has a list in it with a Image View, Text View, View (spacer) and checkbox, all in a row. What happens on the affected phones is that the rows start overlapping and it cuts the top half of everything off. My layout code for this is below, I am pulling my hair out on this, what might I have wrong in this layout. Why does this work on some phones and not on others? Any help would be appreciated. Row Layout: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/photorowIcon" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical" android:paddingTop="10dp" android:paddingBottom="10dp" android:paddingRight="5dp" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/photorowText" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical" /> <View android:layout_width="0px" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1"/> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/photorowCheckBox" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical" android:focusable="false" android:focusableInTouchMode="false" /> </LinearLayout> Layout Row is inserted in: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:background="@drawable/title1_gradient" android:orientation="vertical"> <TextView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Select Photos to Display:" android:textSize="20sp" android:textStyle="bold" android:textColor="#FFFFFFFF" android:paddingLeft="5dp" android:paddingRight="5dp" android:paddingTop="5dp" /> <TextView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/folderName" android:textSize="15sp" android:textStyle="bold" android:textColor="#FFFFFFFF" android:paddingLeft="5dp" android:paddingRight="5dp" android:paddingBottom="5dp" /> <View android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="1px" android:background="#406C6C6C"/> </LinearLayout> <ListView android:id="@android:id/list" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="0px" android:layout_weight="1" android:drawSelectorOnTop="false" android:paddingLeft="5dp" android:paddingRight="5dp" /> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_gravity="bottom"> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_gravity="bottom" android:background="#FF6C6C6C" android:padding="5dp"> <Button android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/ok" android:text="OK"/> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout>

  • Why are some of my view not aligned correctly at the bottom of my relative layout?

    - by Janusz
    I have problems getting some of my views aligned in a relative layout that I use inside a row of my listview. Here is a screenshot from the layout builder in Eclipse, this is what I think it should look like: The next image is from the emulator. Now the TestTestTest View is at the top and covers the name and distance Textviews. This is my layout: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:padding="4dip"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/logo" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:adjustViewBounds="true" android:scaleType="centerInside" android:src="@drawable/icon" android:layout_centerVertical="true" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:background="@color/green" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/distance" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Distance" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:paddingRight="4dip" android:background="#000000" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/name" android:layout_width="fill_parent" style="@style/ListHeadText" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Name" android:layout_alignTop="@id/distance" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/logo" android:layout_toLeftOf="@id/distance" android:gravity="clip_horizontal" android:lines="1" android:paddingLeft="4dip" android:background="@color/red" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/number" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Number" android:paddingRight="4dip" android:layout_alignRight="@id/distance" android:background="@color/darkred" android:layout_below="@id/distance" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/subcategory" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Subcategory" android:paddingLeft="4dip" android:layout_alignLeft="@id/name" android:lines="1" android:gravity="clip_horizontal" android:layout_below="@id/distance" android:background="@color/green" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/test" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="TestTestTest" android:paddingLeft="4dip" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:gravity="bottom" android:background="@color/red" /> Shouldnt align_parent_bottom put the view at the bottom of the cell in the list?

  • Gradle + Robolectric: Where do I put the file org.robolectric.Config.properties?

    - by Rob Hawkins
I'm trying to setup a test using Robolectric to click on a menu button in this repository. Basic Robolectric tests will run, but I'm not able to run any project-specific test using resources because it says it can't find my AndroidManifest.xml. After running ../gradlew clean check, here's the standard output from the Robolectric html file: WARNING: No manifest file found at ./AndroidManifest.xml.Falling back to the Android OS resources only. To remove this warning, annotate your test class with @Config(manifest=Config.NONE). I found these instructions which indicate I should create an org.robolectric.Config.properties file, but I'm not sure where to put it. I've tried everywhere, pretty much, and despite moving the file, the path in the error message is always the same as above (./AndroidManifest.xml). This makes me think the build process has never picked up the settings in the file org.robolectric.Config.properties. I also tried the @Config(manifest="") directive but this gave me a cannot find symbol error. If I move the AndroidManifest.xml into my project directory, then I get an error about it not being able to find the path ./res/values and I wasn't able to resolve that either. Any ideas? Update 1 Thanks Eugen, I'm now using @RunWith(RobolectricGradleTestRunner.class) instead of @RunWith(RobolectricTestRunner). Now I get a different error, still occurring on the same line of my BasicTest.java KeywordList keywordList = Robolectric.buildActivity(KeywordList.class).create().get(); Below are results from the standard error, standard output, and "failed tests" tab in the Robolectric test report: Note: I also tried substituting in a jar built from the latest Robolectric updates, robolectric-2.2-SNAPSHOT.jar, but still got an error. • Change TextView without completely re-drawing layout?

    - by twk
    I've found that updating a text view every second in my app burns a lot of CPU. The textview is in a horizontal LinearLayout, which is in turn inside of a vertical LinearLayout. Switching to a RelativeLayout (as recommended to increase perf) is not an option right now (I tried to get that working originally, but it was too complicated). The horizontal LinearLayout has 3 elements. The outer ones are TextViews with a layout_weight of 0, and the middle one is a progress bar with a layout_weight of 1 to make it expand to take up most of the space. I'm changing the contents of the leftmost TextView every second So, is there a way to change the contents of the text view without re-drawing everything? Or, can I force the TextViews to use a fixed amount of space to simplify the layout. Other tips for speeding up a LinearLayout are greatly appreciated as well. For reference, here is my entire layout. The field I'm updating is the timeIn one. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView android:text="Artist Name" android:id="@+id/curArtist" android:textSize="8pt" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center_horizontal" android:paddingTop="5dp"></TextView> <TextView android:text="Song Name" android:id="@+id/curSong" android:textSize="10pt" android:textStyle="bold" android:layout_below="@id/curArtist" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center_horizontal"></TextView> <TextView android:text="Album Name" android:id="@+id/curAlbum" android:textSize="8pt" android:layout_below="@id/curSong" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center_horizontal"></TextView> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_below="@id/curAlbum" android:orientation="vertical"> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/seekWrapper" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:minHeight="10dp" android:maxHeight="10dp" android:orientation="horizontal"> <TextView android:text="0:00" android:id="@+id/timeIn" android:textSize="4pt" android:paddingLeft="10dp" android:gravity="center_vertical" android:layout_weight="0" android:layout_gravity="left|center_vertical" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent"></TextView> <ProgressBar android:layout_below="@id/curAlbum" android:id="@+id/progressBar" android:paddingLeft="7dp" android:paddingRight="7dp" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:maxHeight="10dp" android:minHeight="10dp" android:indeterminate="false" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_gravity="center_horizontal|center_vertical" style="?android:attr/progressBarStyleHorizontal"></ProgressBar> <TextView android:text="0:00" android:id="@+id/timeLeft" android:paddingRight="10dp" android:textSize="4pt" android:layout_gravity="right|center_vertical" android:layout_weight="0" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent"></TextView> </LinearLayout> <ImageView android:id="@+id/albumArt" android:layout_weight="1" android:padding="5dp" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:src="@drawable/blank_album_art"></ImageView> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal" > <ImageButton android:id="@+id/prev" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="left" android:src="@drawable/button_prev" android:paddingLeft="10dp" android:background="@null"></ImageButton> <ImageButton android:id="@+id/playPause" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center_horizontal" android:src="@drawable/button_play" android:layout_weight="1" android:background="@null"></ImageButton> <ImageButton android:id="@+id/next" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:src="@drawable/button_next" android:layout_gravity="right" android:paddingRight="10dp" android:background="@null"></ImageButton> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> </RelativeLayout>

  • Custom RadioButton image not filling space

    - by Galip
    Hi guys, I have a custom radiobutton with a 9-patch image as background. I use a Selector to determine the background. I also have some text i want to put over the background of the image, but the text is aligning next to the button. This is the RadioGroup <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/segmented" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="50sp" android:gravity="center" android:layout_below="@+id/header"> <RadioGroup android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal" android:id="@+id/group1" android:gravity="center"> <RadioButton android:checked="false" android:layout_width="90sp" android:id="@+id/rbVerzekeringen" android:text="Verzekeringen" android:textSize="10sp" android:button="@drawable/checkbox_theme" /> <RadioButton android:checked="false" android:layout_width="90sp" android:id="@+id/rbPersoonlijk" android:text="Persoonlijk" android:textSize="10sp" android:button="@drawable/checkbox_theme" /> <RadioButton android:checked="false" android:layout_width="90sp" android:id="@+id/rbNotities" android:text="Notities" android:textSize="10sp" android:button="@drawable/checkbox_theme" /> </RadioGroup> </LinearLayout> This is the Selector: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:state_checked="true" android:state_window_focused="false" android:drawable="@drawable/bt_filter_active" /> <item android:state_checked="false" android:state_window_focused="false" android:drawable="@drawable/bt_filter" /> <item android:state_checked="true" android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/bt_filter_active" /> <item android:state_checked="false" android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/bt_filter" /> <item android:state_checked="true" android:state_focused="true" android:drawable="@drawable/bt_filter_active" /> <item android:state_checked="false" android:state_focused="true" android:drawable="@drawable/bt_filter" /> <item android:state_checked="false" android:drawable="@drawable/bt_filter" /> <item android:state_checked="true" android:drawable="@drawable/bt_filter_active" /> </selector> And this is what it lookes like: As you can figure out I want 3 large buttons with the text over it. How can I do this? EDIT: I set the selector at background in stead of button and set the button to null. The code looks like this now: <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/segmented" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="50sp" android:gravity="center" android:layout_below="@+id/header"> <RadioGroup android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal" android:id="@+id/group1" android:gravity="center"> <RadioButton android:checked="false" android:layout_width="100sp" android:layout_height="40sp" android:id="@+id/rbVerzekeringen" android:text="Verzekeringen" android:textSize="13sp" android:orientation="vertical" android:background="@drawable/checkbox_theme" android:button="@null" android:gravity="center"/> <RadioButton android:checked="false" android:layout_width="100sp" android:layout_height="35sp" android:id="@+id/rbPersoonlijk" android:text="Persoonlijk" android:textSize="35sp" android:background="@drawable/checkbox_theme" android:button="@null" android:gravity="center"/> <RadioButton android:checked="false" android:layout_width="100sp" android:layout_height="30sp" android:id="@+id/rbNotities" android:text="Notities" android:textSize="13sp" android:background="@drawable/checkbox_theme" android:button="@null" android:gravity="center"/> </RadioGroup> </LinearLayout> But now when I make the buttons larger or smaller the text in it just disappears like this (height of the first image is 40sp, the second is 35sp and the last one is 30sp): How can I make the background image smaller without cutting the text in it?

  • Couldn't get connection factory client - fighting with Google Maps

    - by iie
    another day another problem, I finally managed to set up correctly google maps on my android application, or at least I thought I've done it, the whole progam starts, it even call the class which should "print" a map, but the only thing I can see is a grid with google label on it [ in the corner ]. I've checked the dalvik monitor and the error E/MapActivity(394): Couldn't get connection factory client occurs. I've find out on stackoverflow website that I should sent a gps signal or sth like this from dalvik monitor, and I've done it. Nothing happend, also I got the api key one more time, but nothing changed. here is map.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <!-- This file is /res/layout/mapview.xml --> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <Button android:id="@+id/zoomin" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="+" android:onClick="myClickHandler" android:padding="12px" /> <Button android:id="@+id/zoomout" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="-" android:onClick="myClickHandler" android:padding="12px" /> <Button android:id="@+id/sat" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Satellite" android:onClick="myClickHandler" android:padding="8px" /> <Button android:id="@+id/street" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Street" android:onClick="myClickHandler" android:padding="8px" /> <Button android:id="@+id/traffic" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Traffic" android:onClick="myClickHandler" android:padding="8px" /> <Button android:id="@+id/normal" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Normal" android:onClick="myClickHandler" android:padding="8px" /> </LinearLayout> <com.google.android.maps.MapView android:id="@+id/mapview" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:clickable="true" android:apiKey="0zPcz1VYRSpLusufJ2JoL0ffl2uxDMovgpW319w" /> </LinearLayout> here is a MapMapa.java public class MapMapa extends MapActivity { private MapView mapView; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.map); mapView = (MapView)findViewById(R.id.mapview); } public void myClickHandler(View target) { switch(target.getId()) { case R.id.zoomin: mapView.getController().zoomIn(); break; case R.id.zoomout: mapView.getController().zoomOut(); break; case R.id.sat: mapView.setSatellite(true); break; case R.id.street: mapView.setStreetView(true); break; case R.id.traffic: mapView.setTraffic(true); break; case R.id.normal: mapView.setSatellite(false); mapView.setStreetView(false); mapView.setTraffic(false); break; } } @Override protected boolean isLocationDisplayed() { return false; } @Override protected boolean isRouteDisplayed() { return false; } manifest.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="menu.dot" android:versionCode="1" ndroid:versionName="1.0"> <application android:label="@string/app_name" android:icon="@drawable/icon"> <uses-library android:name="com.google.android.maps" /> <activity android:name="MainActivity" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <activity android:name=".About"> android:label="@string/about_title" android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Dialog" > </activity> <activity android:name=".Exit"> andorid:label="@string/exit_title"> </activity> <activity android:name=".Options"> </activity> <activity android:name=".Start"> </activity> <activity android:name=".Create"> </activity> <activity android:name=".Where"> </activity> <activity android:name=".Proceed"> </activity> <activity android:name=".Finish"> </activity> <activity android:name=".Login"> </activity> <activity android:name=".OK"> </activity> <activity android:name=".UserPanel"> </activity> <activity android:name=".Managero"> </activity> <activity android:name=".Edition"> </activity> <activity android:name=".Done"> </activity> <activity android:name=".Delete"> </activity> <activity android:name=".MapMapa"> </activity> </application> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION"/> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION"/> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"/> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="3" /> </manifest>

  • RelativeLayout, ScrollView and navigation bar at bottom

    - by MicNeo
What I want to do is, make layout like this: Title Date Long text with scrolling Navigation bar stick to the bottom Well I have done everything, however there is a little problem with scrolling. I want only to scroll text. Title and date should be stick to the top, and nav bar to the bottom of activity. And yes, it works, but my nav bar overlaps text :/ I tried everything, there is one solution I found, set fixed height for Scrollview, but this will not work on every devices well, isn't it? I probably could do some calculation in code, and on it change height, but I would like to stay in XML. Any one have any suggestions? • Gallery items become off-center when switching into landscape orientation.

    - by Sandile
Hey Guys, Thanks for your time. I'm writing an application for android 2.2 and I'm using a gallery to circulate through a list of images that the user can then click to navigate other portions of the application. In portrait orientation, everything is kosher: the images are displaying correctly (completely in the center of the screen as I intended); however, in landscape orientation, all the images in the gallery are strangely displaced a fixed distance to the left of the center of the screen. I've been researching this issue for hours now and haven't found a solution. I'm hoping that some android guru can aid me in the resolution of this bizarre rendering issue. MainMenuActivity.java relevant code snippet (the activity in which the gallery resides) Gallery optionList = (Gallery)findViewById(R.id.mainMenuOptionList); GalleryItem[] optionListItemIdArray = new GalleryItem[] { new GalleryItem(R.drawable.icon_main_menu_option_list_blackboard, "Start Next Lesson", "Start the next planned vocab lesson."), new GalleryItem(R.drawable.icon_main_menu_option_list_index_cards, "Review Words", "Manually look over old words."), new GalleryItem(R.drawable.icon_main_menu_option_list_dice, "Play Vocab Games", "Play games to reinforce knowledge."), new GalleryItem(R.drawable.icon_main_menu_option_list_calendar, "View Lesson Plan", "View the schedule for coming lessons."), new GalleryItem(R.drawable.icon_main_menu_option_list_pie_chart, "View Performance Report", "Evaluate your overall performance statistics."), new GalleryItem(R.drawable.icon_main_menu_option_list_settings, "Manage Settings", "Change and modify application settings.") }; optionList.setAdapter(new GalleryImageAdapter(this, optionListItemIdArray)); NOTE: A GalleryItem is a POJO with an image resource id, title and description. GalleryImageAdapter.java: public class GalleryImageAdapter extends BaseAdapter { private Context context; private GalleryItem[] galleryItemArray; public GalleryImageAdapter(Context context, GalleryItem[] galleryItemArray) { this.context = context; • Large margin by long title

    - by Kevin Koenen
    I try to show a list of offers. When an advertiser insert a large title, the margin of an item (offer) will be showed what shouldn't. I've tried different layouts but that doesn't work. Link to image :) You see, some of the items has a large margin. Here's the code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/gallerylayout" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="left|center" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:paddingBottom="2dp" android:paddingTop="2dp" android:paddingLeft="5dp" android:background="#20000000" android:cacheColorHint="#00000000"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/ad_image_small" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_marginRight="6dip" android:src="@drawable/ic_launcher"/> <LinearLayout android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <TextView android:id="@+id/ad_id" android:visibility="gone" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/ad_img_url" android:visibility="gone" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"/> <LinearLayout android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView android:id="@+id/ad_title" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:padding="3dp" android:gravity="left" android:textColor="#000000" android:ellipsize="end" android:singleLine="true"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/ad_km" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_margin="3dp" android:layout_marginBottom="1dp" android:textColor="#000000" android:gravity="right"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView android:id="@+id/ad_text" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginLeft="3dp" android:textColor="#0099CC" android:ellipsize="end" android:singleLine="true"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_margin="2dp" android:padding="5dp"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/ad_clock" android:layout_width="20dp" android:layout_height="20dp" android:layout_marginRight="5dip" android:src="@drawable/icon_clock"/> <ProgressBar android:id="@+id/progressbar" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="8dp" android:layout_margin="5dp" android:paddingLeft="2dp" android:max="100" style="?android:attr/progressBarStyleHorizontal" android:progressDrawable="@drawable/color_progressbar" /> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> <ImageView android:id="@+id/overlay_image" android:background="#0000" android:src="@drawable/verlopen2x" android:layout_alignTop="@id/ad_image_small" android:layout_alignBottom="@id/ad_image_small" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:adjustViewBounds="true" android:visibility="visible" /> I can't see what i'm doing wrong. • How do I make this scroll layout work?

    - by JuiCe
    I am currently trying to get my UI to have a Title Bar, a bottom Button bar, with a ScrollView in between. I can get bits and pieces of it to work, but once I get a different piece working, the old part goes back to not showing up. Here is a picture of my UI on the left, with what I want it to look like on the right...(sorry for the sloppiness, I edited it in MS Paint :P ) To sum it up, I want the Version and Type fields to be moved with room for the other TextViews in the XML file, and I want both buttons to appear on the bottom bar. EDIT : The buttons on the bottom should be equal in size, I'm not too talented in making boxes in MS Paint EDIT 2 : Sorry....here is my XML file <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical" android:weightSum="1.0" > <LinearLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" > <TextView android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center_horizontal" android:text="SN : " /> <TextView android:id="@+id/serialNumberView" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center_horizontal" /> <TextView android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center_horizontal" android:text="Ver : " /> <TextView android:id="@+id/versionView" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center_horizontal" /> <TextView android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center_horizontal" android:text="Type : " /> <TextView android:id="@+id/typeView" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center_horizontal" /> </LinearLayout> <ScrollView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1" > <LinearLayout android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_weight="1"> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/floatCheck" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Float" /> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/tripCheck" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Trip" /> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/closeCheck" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Close" /> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/blockedCheck" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Blocked" /> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/hardTripCheck" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Hard Trip" /> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/phaseAngleCheck" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Phase angle wrong for closing" /> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/diffVoltsCheck" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Differential volts too low" /> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/networkVoltsCheck" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Network volts too low to close" /> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/usingDefaultsCheck" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Using Defaults( Reprogram )" /> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/relaxedCloseActiveCheck" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Relaxed Close Active" /> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/commBoardDetectedCheck" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Comm Board Detected" /> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/antiPumpBlock" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Anti-Pump Block" /> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/motorCutoffCheck" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Motor Cutoff Inhibit" /> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/phaseRotationCheck" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Phase Rotation Wrong" /> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/usingDefaultDNPCheck" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text= "Using Default DNP Profile" /> </LinearLayout> </ScrollView> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_weight="1" > <Button android:id="@+id/button3" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="Back" /> <Button android:id="@+id/button3" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="Read" /> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout>

  • Setting EditText imeOptions to actionNext has no effect

    - by Katedral Pillon
    I have a fairly complex (not really) xml layout file. One of the views is a LinearLayout (v1) with two children: an EditText(v2) and another LinearLayout(v3). The child LinearLayout in turn has an EditText(v4) and an ImageView(v5). For EditText v2 I have imeOptions as android:imeOptions="actionNext" But when I run the app, the keyboard's return does not check to next and I want it to change to next. How do I fix this problem? Also, when user clicks next, I want focus to go to EditText v4. I do I do this? For those who really need to see some code: <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/do_txt_view" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:background="@color/col6" android:orientation="vertical" android:visibility="gone" > <EditText android:id="@+id/gm_title" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_margin="5dp" android:background="@drawable/coldo_text" android:hint="@string/enter_title" android:maxLines="1" android:imeOptions="actionNext" android:padding="5dp" android:textColor="pigc7" android:textSize="ads2" /> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="100dp" android:orientation="horizontal" > <EditText android:id="@+id/rev_text" android:layout_width="0dp" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical" android:layout_margin="5dp" android:layout_weight="1" android:background="@drawable/coldo_text" android:hint="@string/enter_msg" android:maxLines="2" android:padding="5dp" android:textColor="pigc7" android:textSize="ads2" /> <ImageView android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical" android:background="@drawable/colbtn_r” android:clickable="true" android:onClick=“clickAct” android:paddingLeft="5dp" android:paddingRight="5dp" android:src="@drawable/abcat” /> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout>

  • Android Bind Spinner to Class

    - by drbob
I'm having some trouble with the Spinner widget. Given the following code: ArrayList<Person> people= new ArrayList<Person>(); Person = null; for(int i = 0; i!= 10; i++) { p = new Person(); s.setID(i); s.setName("Name " + i); people.add(s); } I'm using the following code to bind it to a Spinner: Spinner spinner1 = (Spinner) findViewById (R.id.spinner); ArrayAdapter<Person> adapter = new ArrayAdapter<Person>(this, android.R.layout.simple_spinner_item, people); spinner1.setAdapter(adapter); What I would like is for the value (id) to be hidden but passed when selected, and the name to appear. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • ListView item won't extend width to fill_parent

    - by slybloty
I have a custom ViewGroup that inflates a ListView from an xml layout. The list item layout is inflated from another xml file. All of the views are set to fill_parent. The ListView fills its parent, but the ListView items don't. I've tried putting the ListView in a LinearLayout and assigning weight to it. Tried RelativeLayout as well. Also, I've built the ListView programmaticaly, without using the xml layout. Even changed the LayoutParams before adding the view to the ViewGroup. I've also taken in consideration these posts as well: Width of clickable area in ListView w/ onListItemClick, In Android, how can I set a ListView item's height and width?, Android Listview width prob. Any ideas to why the items don't extend to fill width? And how to extend them? MyViewGroup class: public class MyViewGroup extends ViewGroup { public MyViewGroup(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); generateMyViewGroup(); } private void generateMyViewGroup() { ListView main = (ListView) View.inflate(getContext(), R.layout.layout_main, null); main.setAdapter(new MyAdapter(getContext())); this.addView(main); } @Override protected void onLayout(boolean changed, int l, int t, int r, int b) { this.getChildAt(0).layout(l, t, r, b); } } ListView xml layout: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <ListView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@android:id/list" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginRight="3dp" android:background="#77000000" android:cacheColorHint="#00000000" android:divider="#00000000" android:dividerHeight="0dp" android:drawSelectorOnTop="false" android:scrollbars="vertical" > </ListView> ListView item layout: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/layout_main_category" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:background="@color/mainBackground" android:gravity="fill_horizontal|center_vertical" android:orientation="vertical" > <TextView android:id="@+id/main_category" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginLeft="8dp" android:layout_marginRight="8dp" android:paddingBottom="7dp" android:paddingLeft="20dp" android:paddingRight="5dp" android:paddingTop="20dp" android:text="test" android:textColor="@color/mainCategory" android:textSize="15sp" android:textStyle="bold" /> </LinearLayout>
