  When I start Ubuntu from the grub, I get a strange message, and a medieval prompt as: No init found Busybox v1.15.3(ubuntu 1.1.15 3-ubuntu5) built in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of commands (initramfs)_ I use a dualboot system, with Ubuntu Meerkat, and Windows 7. Is there any chance of recovery? Thanks. EDIT: The PC on a whim decide to boot itself up, and so I couldnt try the solution mentioned below. I will accept the answer anyway.

  I've recently had a few random TS3 mass disconnects and I'm am curious to know where I may find any applications that can help me determine the cause of any types of TS3 server disconnections as we plan on having many more users in the future. I run an almost empty VPS (OpenVZ) server with an ArchLinux template on it. I have 1.5/2GB of RAM, 2GHz of CPU and plenty of hard drive space, to run for the most part, just my TS3 and a low traffic apache web server.   I am a Windows user and I'm keen to shift to Linux, so I made live CD of Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick). This is my very first time to use Ubuntu. I put CD in the drive and set the BIOS to boot it, and the Ubuntu CD worked and logo of Ubuntu appears on screen.   If you don't mind, a tldr on my experience: My experience tldr I have an application that's heavily dependent upon uncertainty, a bane to database design. I tried to normalize it as best as I could according to the capabilities of my database of choice, but a "simple" query took 50ms to read. Nosql appeals to me, but I can't trust myself with it, and besides, normalization has cut down my debugging time immensely over and over. Instead of 100% normalization, I made semi-redundant 1:1 tables with very wide primary keys and equivalent foreign keys. Read times dropped to a few ms, and write times barely degraded. The semi-normalized point Given this reality, that anyone who's tried to rely upon views of fully normalized data is aware of, is this concept codified? Is it as simple as having wide unique and foreign keys, or are there any hidden secrets to this technique? Or is uncertainty merely a special case that has extremely limited application and can be left on the ash heap?

  I've installed win 7 and ubuntu 11.04. After a storm killed the power. i'm unable to boot. I'm stuck in the busybox shell (ash). Here's what happens when i boot: Bios loads Grub displays option to load: ubuntu ubuntu recovery memtest another memtest option win7 win 7 recovery I load Ubuntu This cause it to load and i see no normal ubuntu screen just the busybox shell I try loading ubuntu via fsck -l; and it returns me a /bin/sh not found error. I load windows 7 and i'm unable to boot. I get a blue screen of death I then load ubuntu recovery and i don't have any luck either. Any ideas where to go from here?

• Computer won't wake from hibernate

  So I have a pretty dumb problem...I accidentaly pressed Hibernate while trying to Restart...since then my computer wont boot into Ubuntu anymore (through normal mode or single user mode - rescue mode that is)...all I get is: mount: mounting /dev on /root/dev failed: No such file or directory mount: mounting /sys/ on root/sys failed: No such file or directory mount: mounting /proc on /root/proc failed: No such file or dirctory Target filesystem doesn't have requested /sbin/init. But it doesn't allow me...both gparted and fsck say that the device is busy (I can't even mount it in the LiveCD to rescue data)...umount /dev/sdb1 says its not mounted...any ideas?

  I have a webpage where I have a form with several areas to input text and two drop down select options countries is the first one and depending in witch country is chosen the second should display the estates for that country to choose. my page connects to my db from where it gets the countries and estates.... I have a table with the country names and one table for each country estates. so all I'm trying to do is making it change the states to choose from automatically depending witch country got selected with out summiting the form since that enters a new entry to another table in my db.
