  • System says memory controller not available and doesn't boot?

    Hello everybody, Recently I have had a MainBoard-problem. I've send my mainboard to service and today I got it back from the company. It is a Foxconn 520a mainboard. Now I have installed my exchanged mainboard. But now I have a problem. My system boots until the device list with IRQ entries appear. The system says "Verifying DMI-pool-data..." and nothing happens. The IRQ-device list shows that the memory-controller is not available. All other devices have got an IRQ. Bus No. Device No. Func No. Vendor/Device Class Device Class IRQ 0 0 0 10DE 0547 0500 Memory Controller NA Do you have any ideas where the problem could be? I already have disconnected all unnecessary devices like the hard disks. Perhaps it is a BIOS problem, but I don't know where I should look. Would be nice if there is any advice, Greetings, Martin

  • Best way to script checking whether a machine is on the corporate network

    I am writing a Powershell script to determine if a machine is on the corporate network. The machine may or may not be on the domain, so I want to check at "IP" level. Have written something to check by pinging a couple of servers on a couple of different subnets (to get around the risk of someone being on another (external) subnet with a host on the same IP.) Works, but it's a bit slow, and not especially "future-proof" - e.g. in 2 years time when I decomission the server it'll break. Is there a way I can use the dns suffix being given by the local dhcp server? Just direct me what I need to check - I can figure out the script. Ta, Ben

  • Can I run AD commands from a standard PowerShell script?

    I am putting together a script to run post-sysprep. It should check if the machine is on the network, and if it is then it should query AD to see if a computer account exists with it's service tag (we're using these as the hostnames of the machines.) If it does exist, it should delete the account and rejoin the machine to the domain. I have got the majority of the script running, but need to run the following: Remove-ADComputer -Identity $distinguishedName How can I run this from the "standard" powershell environment? I don't want to use the AD module. (By the way - I'm on a mixed mode 2000/03 domain as we are in the process of upgrading to 2008) I'm new to PowerShell so be gentle if I'm completely missing the point! Thanks, Ben

  • iPhone SDK Zoom and refresh PDF with Quartz

    Looking at the QuartzDemo sample application, I love the speed of the PDF rending using quartz alone (that is, without using uiwebview). However, when I'm zooming in the PDF it doesn't seem to become more clear like it does in PDF view. Is there something that I can change to have the same effect when zooming in and out using multitouch? like manipulate the PDF transformation matrix or something? Thanks a bunch. --Ben

    Basically, what I want to do is put some buttons before the tabs in a gtk.Notebook. I tried making my own notebook type widget and it worked well, but it would have required lots more work to make it as flexible as I would like, also it wasn't as efficient.     I am using NVelocity to process various PowerShell scripts before they are executed against a server. My question is how to escape a backslash trailing a variable: e.g. ls \\$computername\c$ $computername should be replaced with a valid computer name at runtime, but the trailing backslash (\c$) means that it does not.   • Offline product catalog

    I am looking for a way to automate the production of an offline product catalog using product data contained in an SQL Server database. I have thought about using both Crystal Reports and SQL Server Reporting Services for this but there may be something better suited for the job. There is a requirement to display product images also (currently stored in the database). I thought about perhaps doing a simple Word Mail Merge for this but am not sure how I will handle images.     Hi, I have been having trouble searching through a MySQL table, trying to find entries with the character (UTF-16 code 200E) in a particular column. This particular code doesn't have a glyph, so it doesn't seem to work when I try to paste it into my search term.     Hi there, We are using a client application to print out grade sheets from an online application. This has been working flawlessly until the systems were upgraded to IE 8.   • Iframe always showing scroll bars in IE7

    Hi everyone, Having an annoying issue in IE7. I have a website where, at the bottom of every page theres an Iframe, and for the life of me I cannot get the scroll bars to hide. This is only in IE7, every other browser I have tested is fine. I have scrolling="no" and set overflow:hidden; still not working though.   • "This Friday" in bash script

    Hi, Is there a way to calculate a time stamp for the next coming up of a week day? So for instance, with friday, i'd like to be able to run some code that calculates that from today Wednesday 19/05/10, the next friday will be 21/05/10 and get a time stamp from it. I know the date command can parse a given string date according to a format, but I can't figure out how to calculate "next friday from today" Any idea? Cheers Ben
