  • Configuration problems with django and mod_wsgi

    - by Jimbo
Hi, I've got problems on getting django to work on apache 2.2 with mod_wsgi. Django is installed and mod_wsgi too. I can even see a 404 page when accessing the path and I can login to django admin. But if I want to install the tagging module I get the following error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "setup.py", line 49, in <module> version_tuple = __import__('tagging').VERSION File "/home/jim/django-tagging/tagging/__init__.py", line 3, in <module> from tagging.managers import ModelTaggedItemManager, TagDescriptor File "/home/jim/django-tagging/tagging/managers.py", line 5, in <module> from django.contrib.contenttypes.models import ContentType File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/django/contrib/contenttypes/models.py", line 1, in <module> from django.db import models File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/django/db/__init__.py", line 10, in <module> if not settings.DATABASE_ENGINE: File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/django/utils/functional.py", line 269, in __getattr__ self._setup() File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/django/conf/__init__.py", line 40, in _setup self._wrapped = Settings(settings_module) File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/django/conf/__init__.py", line 75, in __init__ raise ImportError, "Could not import settings '%s' (Is it on sys.path? • Domain authentication used for kerberos based authentication of users on my server

    - by J G
Suppose a user process has authenticated itself against domain's directory server via kerberos, and then attempts opens a network socket to my server application. My server application has a white-list of users from the domain directory server. How does my server app authenticate the user from the directory based on this socket opening attempt? (To keep things simple - let's say my server is written in Java, and the directory server is Active Directory) EDIT My question is about how the client asks for an authentication token.

  • Login URL using authentication information in Django

    - by fuSi0N
    I'm working on a platform for online labs registration for my university. Login View [project views.py] from django.http import HttpResponse, HttpResponseRedirect, Http404 from django.shortcuts import render_to_response from django.template import RequestContext from django.contrib import auth def index(request): return render_to_response('index.html', {}, context_instance = RequestContext(request)) def login(request): if request.method == "POST": post = request.POST.copy() if post.has_key('username') and post.has_key('password'): usr = post['username'] pwd = post['password'] user = auth.authenticate(username=usr, password=pwd) if user is not None and user.is_active: auth.login(request, user) if user.get_profile().is_teacher: return HttpResponseRedirect('/teachers/'+user.username+'/') else: return HttpResponseRedirect('/students/'+user.username+'/') else: return render_to_response('index.html', {'msg': 'You don\'t belong here.'}, context_instance = RequestContext(request) return render_to_response('login.html', {}, context_instance = RequestContext(request)) def logout(request): auth.logout(request) return render_to_response('index.html', {}, context_instance = RequestContext(request)) URLS #========== PROJECT URLS ==========# urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^media/(?P<path>.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': settings.MEDIA_ROOT }), (r'^admin/', include(admin.site.urls)), (r'^teachers/', include('diogenis.teachers.urls')), (r'^students/', include('diogenis.students.urls')), (r'^login/', login), (r'^logout/', logout), (r'^$', index), ) #========== TEACHERS APP URLS ==========# urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^(?P<username>\w{0,50})/', labs), ) The login view basically checks whether the logged in user is_teacher [UserProfile attribute via get_profile()] and redirects the user to his profile. Labs View [teachers app views.py] from django.http import HttpResponse, HttpResponseRedirect, Http404 from django.shortcuts import render_to_response from django.template import RequestContext from django.contrib.auth.decorators import user_passes_test from django.contrib.auth.models import User from accounts.models import * from labs.models import * def user_is_teacher(user): return user.is_authenticated() and user.get_profile().is_teacher @user_passes_test(user_is_teacher, login_url="/login/") def labs(request, username): q1 = User.objects.get(username=username) q2 = u'%s %s' % (q1.last_name, q1.first_name) q2 = Teacher.objects.get(name=q2) results = TeacherToLab.objects.filter(teacher=q2) return render_to_response('teachers/labs.html', {'results': results}, context_instance = RequestContext(request)) I'm using @user_passes_test decorator for checking whether the authenticated user has the permission to use this view [labs view]. The problem I'm having with the current logic is that once Django authenticates a teacher user he has access to all teachers profiles basically by typing the teachers username in the url. Once a teacher finds a co-worker's username he has direct access to his data. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  • Django Error: NameError name 'current_datetime' is not defined

    - by Diego
I'm working through the book "The Definitive Guide to Django" and am stuck on a piece of code. This is the code in my settings.py: ROOT_URLCONF = 'mysite.urls' I have the following code in my urls.py from django.conf.urls.defaults import * from mysite.views import hello, my_homepage_view urlpatterns = patterns('', ('^hello/$', hello), ) urlpatterns = patterns('', ('^time/$', current_datetime), ) And the following is the code in my views.py file: from django.http import HttpResponse import datetime def hello(request): return HttpResponse("Hello World") def current_datetime(request): now = datetime.datetime.now() html = "<html><body>It is now %s.</body></html>" % now return HttpResponse(html) Yet, I get the following error when I test the code in the development server. NameError at /time/ name 'current_datetime' is not defined Can someone help me out here? This really is just a copy-paste from the book. I don't see any mistyping.

  • Django Admin drop down combobox and assigned values

    - by Daniel Garcia
I have several question for the Django Admin feature. Im kind of new in Django so im not sure how to do it. Basically what Im looking to do is when Im adding information on the model. Some of the fields i want them to be drop-downs and maybe combo-boxes with AutoCompleteMode. Also looking for some fields to have the same information, for example if i have a datatime field I want that information to feed the fields day, month and year from hoti.hotiapp.models import Occurrence from django.contrib import admin class MyModelAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): exclude = ['reference',] admin.site.register(Occurrence, MyModelAdmin) Anything helps Thanks in advance

  • Alternate datasource for django model?

    - by slypete
I'm trying to seamlessly integrate some legacy data into a django application. I would like to know if it's possible to use an alternate datasource for a django model. For example, can I contact a server to populate a list of a model? The server would not be SQL based at all. Instead it uses some proprietary tcp based protocol. Copying the data is not an option, as the legacy application will continue to be used for some time. Would a custom manager allow me to do this? This model should behave just like any other django model. It should even pluggable to the admin interface. What do you think? Thanks, Pete

  • UnicodeEncodeError when uploading files in Django admin

    - by Samuel Linde
Note: I asked this question on StackOverflow, but I realize this might be a more proper place to ask this kind of question. I'm trying to upload a file called 'Testaråäö.txt' via the Django admin app. I'm running Django 1.3.1 with Gunicorn 0.13.4 and Nginx 0.7.6.7 on a Debian 6 server. Database is PostgreSQL 8.4.9. Other Unicode data is saved to the database with no problem, so I guess the problem must be with the filesystem somehow. I've set http { charset utf-8; } in my nginx.conf. LC_ALL and LANG is set to 'sv_SE.UTF-8'. Running 'locale' verifies this. I even tried setting LC_ALL and LANG in my nginx init script just to make sure locale is set properly. Here's the traceback: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/core/handlers/base.py", line 111, in get_response response = callback(request, *callback_args, **callback_kwargs) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/contrib/admin/options.py", line 307, in wrapper return self.admin_site.admin_view(view)(*args, **kwargs) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/utils/decorators.py", line 93, in _wrapped_view response = view_func(request, *args, **kwargs) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/views/decorators/cache.py", line 79, in _wrapped_view_func response = view_func(request, *args, **kwargs) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/contrib/admin/sites.py", line 197, in inner return view(request, *args, **kwargs) File "/srv/django/letebo/app/cms/admin.py", line 81, in change_view return super(PageAdmin, self).change_view(request, obj_id) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/utils/decorators.py", line 28, in _wrapper return bound_func(*args, **kwargs) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/utils/decorators.py", line 93, in _wrapped_view response = view_func(request, *args, **kwargs) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/utils/decorators.py", line 24, in bound_func return func(self, *args2, **kwargs2) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/db/transaction.py", line 217, in inner res = func(*args, **kwargs) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/contrib/admin/options.py", line 985, in change_view self.save_formset(request, form, formset, change=True) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/contrib/admin/options.py", line 677, in save_formset formset.save() File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/forms/models.py", line 482, in save return self.save_existing_objects(commit) + self.save_new_objects(commit) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/forms/models.py", line 613, in save_new_objects self.new_objects.append(self.save_new(form, commit=commit)) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/forms/models.py", line 717, in save_new obj.save() File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/db/models/base.py", line 460, in save self.save_base(using=using, force_insert=force_insert, force_update=force_update) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/db/models/base.py", line 504, in save_base self.save_base(cls=parent, origin=org, using=using) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/db/models/base.py", line 543, in save_base for f in meta.local_fields if not isinstance(f, AutoField)] File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/db/models/fields/files.py", line 255, in pre_save file.save(file.name, file, save=False) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/db/models/fields/files.py", line 92, in save self.name = self.storage.save(name, content) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/core/files/storage.py", line 48, in save name = self.get_available_name(name) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/core/files/storage.py", line 74, in get_available_name while self.exists(name): File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/core/files/storage.py", line 218, in exists return os.path.exists(self.path(name)) File "/srv/.virtualenvs/letebo/lib/python2.6/genericpath.py", line 18, in exists st = os.stat(path) UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode characters in position 52-54: ordinal not in range(128) I tried running Gunicorn with debugging turned on, and the file uploads without any problem at all. • django-admin - how to modify ModelAdmin to create multiple objects at once?

    - by skrobul
let's assume that I have very basic model class Message(models.Model): msg = models.CharField(max_length=30) this model is registered with admin module: class MessageAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): pass admin.site.register(Message, MessageAdmin) Currently when I go into the admin interface, after clicking "Add message" I have only one form where I can enter the msg. I would like to have multiple forms (formset perhaps) on the "Add page" so I can create multiple messages at once. It's really annoying having to click "Save and add another" every single time. Ideally I would like to achieve something like InlineModelAdmin but it turns out that you can use it only for the models that are related to the object which is edited. What would you recommend to use to resolve this problem?

  • Django : debugging templatetags

    - by interstar
How on earth do people debug Django templatetags? I created one, based on a working example, my new tag looks the same to me as the existing one. But I just get a 'my_lib' is not a valid tag library: Could not load template library from django.templatetags.my_lib, No module named my_lib I know that this is probably because of something failing when defining the lib. But how do I see what's going on? What do you use to debug this situation?

Django's admin site keeps a history of the changes made to objects through the admin site. The Question: How do I hook my application in to the admin site's change history so that I can see the history of changes users make to their "content" ?

  • Django: Generating a queryset from a GET request

    - by Nimmy Lebby
I have a Django form setup using GET method. Each value corresponds to attributes of a Django model. What would be the most elegant way to generate the query? Currently this is what I do in the view: def search_items(request): if 'search_name' in request.GET: query_attributes = {} query_attributes['color'] = request.GET.get('color', '') if not query_attributes['color']: del query_attributes['color'] query_attributes['shape'] = request.GET.get('shape', '') if not query_attributes['shape']: del query_attributes['shape'] items = Items.objects.filter(**query_attributes) But I'm pretty sure there's a better way to go about it.

  • Can django's auth_user.username be varchar(75)?

    - by perrierism
Django's auth_user.username field is 30 characters. That means you can't have auth_user.username store an email address. If you want to have users authenticate based on their email address it would seem you have to do some wonky stuff like writing your own authentication backend which authenticates based on (email, password) instead of (username, password) and furthermore, figuring out what you're going to put in the username field since it is required and it is a primary key. Do you put a hash in there, do you try to put the id in there... bleh! Why should you have to write all this code and consider edge cases simply because username is too small for your (farily common) purposes? Is there anything wrong with running alter table on auth_user to make username be varchar(75) so it can fit an email? What does that break if anything?

  • Django-allauth redirected to connections

I'm using django-allauth to signup users with Facebook, and I'm setting the ACCOUNT_EMAIL_REQUIRED to True so when a user doesn't have email saved on his account I get redirected to the allauth/templates/socialaccount/Signup.html and when I use a test user to enter a valid email, I get redirect to "connections.html" which then asks me to choose one of the social accounts and remove it. and the form action method is set to 'connections url' so it becomes an infinite loop. anyone knows what's wrong? here's my settings SOCIALACCOUNT_PROVIDERS = \ { 'facebook': { 'SCOPE': ['email', 'publish_stream'], # 'AUTH_PARAMS': { 'auth_type': 'reauthenticate' }, 'METHOD': 'js_sdk' , 'LOCALE_FUNC': lambda request: 'en_US'}} ACCOUNT_EMAIL_REQUIRED =True ACCOUNT_ADAPTER = 'profiles.adapter.MyAccountAdapter' SOCIALACCOUNT_ADAPTER ='profiles.adapter.MySocialAccountAdapter'

  • Windows Authentication behaves oddly when VPN'd

    - by Dan F
Hi all We've got a few apps that rely on windows authentication - a couple of web apps with AD auth turned on and we usually connect to our SQL servers with windows auth. This normally runs without a hitch. It doesn't work so well if we're VPN'd to a client site though. SSMS Opening SSMS normally from the start menu, then picking a server that normally accepts windows auth, results in a message saying: Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider) If I drop to a command prompt and use runas /user:domain\user to launch SSMS I can successfully windows auth to our SQL server instances with that ssms process. If I look in task manager, both copies of ssms.exe (start menu vs runas) have the same user, and I can see no discernible differences between the processes in procexp. AD Auth websites If I open IE and browse to any of our websites that require an authenticated windows user, I get the "who are you" prompt, and that dialog thinks I'm whoever the VPN user is. I can click "Use another account" and authenticate that way though. Outlook Even Outlook prompts for a username when we are VPN'd! It's affecting our Win7 and Vista machines. It's been a while since we had an XP box, but I don't recall having this issue on XP for what it's worth. The VPN connections are just using the built in windows VPN connections, they're not fancy cisco VPNs or anything of that nature. Does anyone know how to tell windows that I'd like to be my normal old primary domain user rather than the VPN user when authenticating to resources in our domain? Heck, I'd be happy with a solution that prompted me with the "who are you" if I was trying to access windows auth requiring resources on the client's VPN. Thanks! Apologies if this is more a superuser question, I wasn't sure which site it best suited. It's about networking and infrastructure and plagues all of our developers here, so I hope it's a serverfault Q.

  • django crispy-forms inline forms

    - by abolotnov
I'm trying to adopt crispy-forms and bootstrap and use as much of their functionality as possible instead of inventing something over and over again. Is there a way to have inline forms functionality with crispy-forms/bootstrap like django-admin forms have? Here is an example: class NewProjectForm(forms.Form): name = forms.CharField(required=True, label=_(u'???????? ???????'), widget=forms.TextInput(attrs={'class':'input-block-level'})) group = forms.ModelChoiceField(required=False, queryset=Group.objects.all(), label=_(u'?????? ????????'), widget=forms.Select(attrs={'class':'input-block-level'})) description = forms.CharField(required=False, label=_(u'???????? ???????'), widget=forms.Textarea(attrs={'class':'input-block-level'})) class Meta: model = Project fields = ('name','description','group') def __init__(self, *args, **kwargs): self.helper = FormHelper() self.helper.form_class = 'horizontal-form' self.helper.form_action = 'submit_new_project' self.helper.layout = Layout( Field('name', css_class='input-block-level'), Field('group', css_class='input-block-level'), Field('description',css_class='input-block-level'), ) self.helper.add_input(Submit('submit',_(u'??????? ??????'))) self.helper.add_input(Submit('cancel',_(u'? ?????????'))) super(NewProjectForm, self).__init__(*args, **kwargs) it will display a decent form: How do I go about adding a form that basically represents this model: class Link(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=255, blank=False, null=False, verbose_name=_(u'????????')) url = models.URLField(blank=False, null=False, verbose_name=_(u'??????')) project = models.ForeignKey('Project') So there will be a project and name/url links and way to add many, like same thing is done in django-admin where you are able to add extra 'rows' with data related to your main model. On the sreenshot below you are able to fill out data for 'Question' object and below that you are able to add data for QuestionOption objects -you are able to click the '+' icon to add as many QuestionOptions as you want. I'm not looking for a way to get the forms auto-generated from models (that's nice but not the most important) - is there a way to construct a form that will let you add 'rows' of data like django-admin does?

    I'm trying to construct a query to get the "average, maximum, minimum number of items purchased by a single user". The data source is this simple sales record table: class SalesRecord(models.Model): id = models.IntegerField(primary_key=True) user_id = models.IntegerField() product_code = models.CharField() price = models.IntegerField() created_at = models.DateTimeField() A new record is inserted into this table for every item purchased by a user. Here's my attempt at building the query: q = SalesRecord.objects.all() q = q.values('user_id').annotate( # group by user and count the # of records count=Count('id'), # (= # of items) ).order_by() result = q.aggregate(Max('count'), Min('count'), Avg('count')) When I try to execute the code, a ProgrammingError is raised at the last line: (1064, "You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'FROM (SELECT sales_records.user_id AS user_id, COUNT(sales_records.`' at line 1") Django's error screen shows that the SQL is SELECT FROM (SELECT `sales_records`.`player_id` AS `player_id`, COUNT(`sales_records`.`id`) AS `count` FROM `sales_records` WHERE (`sales_records`.`created_at` >= %s AND `sales_records`.`created_at` <= %s ) GROUP BY `sales_records`.`player_id` ORDER BY NULL) subquery It's not selecting anything! Can someone please show me the right way to do this? Hacking Django I've found that clearing the cache of selected fields in django.db.models.sql.BaseQuery.get_aggregation() seems to solve the problem. Though I'm not really sure this is a fix or a workaround. @@ -327,10 +327,13 @@ # Remove any aggregates marked for reduction from the subquery # and move them to the outer AggregateQuery. + self._aggregate_select_cache = None + self.aggregate_select_mask = None for alias, aggregate in self.aggregate_select.items(): if aggregate.is_summary: query.aggregate_select[alias] = aggregate - del obj.aggregate_select[alias] + if alias in obj.aggregate_select: + del obj.aggregate_select[alias] ... yields result: {'count__max': 267, 'count__avg': 26.2563, 'count__min': 1}

  • Django - provide additional information in template

    - by Ninefingers
Hi all, I am building an app to learn Django and have started with a Contact system that currently stores Contacts and Addresses. C's are a many to many relationship with A's, but rather than use Django's models.ManyToManyField() I've created my own link-table providing additional information about the link, such as what the address type is to the that contact (home, work etc). What I'm trying to do is pass this information out to a view, so in my full view of a contact I can do this: def contact_view_full(request, contact_id): c = get_object_or_404(Contact, id=contact_id) a = [] links = ContactAddressLink.objects.filter(ContactID=c.id) for link in links: b = Address.objects.get(id=link.AddressID_id) a.append(b) return render_to_response('contact_full.html', {'contact_item': c, 'addresses' : a }, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) And so I can do the equivalent of c.Addresses.all() or however the ManyToManyField works. What I'm interested to know is how can I pass out information about the link in the link object with the 'addresses' : a information, so that when my template does this: {% for address in addresses %} <!-- ... --> {% endfor %} and properly associate the correct link object data with the address. So what's the best way to achieve this? I'm thinking a union of two objects might be an idea but I haven't enough experience with Django to know if that's considered the best way of doing it. Suggestions? Thanks in advance. Nf

  • What is causing this OverflowError in Django?

I'm using a normal ModelForm.save() to create an object, and this exception comes up. It worked fine before until I added commit_manually, transaction.rollback() and transaction.commit() to my view. Has anyone else ran into this? Is this because of sqlite3?
