• Why am I unable to send an attachment with Outlook via SMTP that I am able to send via Gmail / Google Apps?

  I have Google Apps installed and I have tried to set up Outlook 2007 to send messages via SMTP. I followed the guide, selecting what I believe are all the correct settings. Yes, I am using POP for incoming, that is intentional but I don't believe it should affect outgoing messages. When I log into gmail (google apps) for my company, I can send a message that has an 8MB attachment (pdf file, not zipped or anything) and it sends fine. However, when I send the same message in Outlook with that same 8mb attachment it fails. Why am I unable to send an attachment with Outlook via SMTP that I am able to send via Gmail / Google Apps? The message headers are (some info omitted for privacy): Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. • I am trying to set up a ubuntu sever 12.04 on my machine [migrated]

  I am trying to set up a server on my home network which will eventually host rails. I am not great in linux server and i try to follow the prompt. I did succesfully get to a black screen which then prompts me to a username then password to then do anything ( assuming). However here what i try to do I kinda fellow his tutorial http://www.ubuntugeek.com/step-by-step-ubuntu-11-04-natty-lamp-server-setup.html but however the command where not 100% like him not in same order but same idea. Then i want to install ubuntu server with gui here the command i try with sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop Which however give me the following error Err http... inRelease w Failed to fetch ht... • Touchpad does not respond when I am holding key on the keyboard

  I am experiencing strange problem with using my touchpad and keyboard simultaneously under Windows 7. I have HP tx2550ew (convertible tablet), and when I hold some key under Windows 7 (eg. space, a, s etc.), the touchpad seems to be blocking. I spotted this while playing Counter Strike. I am not playing much games, and I haven't been playing CS since January, so I am not sure when it started behaving like that. I have tested it also outside the game - when I hold space (eg. when on some web page and entering text into input field) or some letter key, the cursor is not able to move. The problem seems to not be occuring when I hold Shift, Ctrl nor Alt. Did any of you experience similar problem? Do you know what may have caused this? Is there any way I could check what is wrong with my laptop? I have been looking for a solution, but it seems I haven't been looking in right places. This is why I ask question here. Ps. I am unable to test whether this is touchpad-specific, because I have no mouse at my disposal at the moment (got used to touchpad so much I even find it more efficient and haven't been using a mouse with my laptop for months).

• I am trying to zip files individually, but the file type is unknown

  I am trying to zip some files with an unknown file type individually. I am using the following code in a batch script to do that: @ECHO OFF FOR %%A IN (bestbuy*nat*component.cpi*) DO "C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7z.exe" a -mx9 -m0=lzma2:d256m "%%~nA.7z" "%%A" The code will compress files individually ONLY if the file has an extension. Unfortunately the files that I have don't have any extension. In the code I am trying to zip files by doing a pattern match, the files are getting compressed into ONE file (which I do not want, I want each file compressed individually). Why does this code create separate zip files when the files have an extension (for example if I add .txt to the end of the files) and when there is no extension the code creates one zipped file. Can anyone please help me with the code to compress files with unknown file type so that each file gets compressed individually Your help would be greatly appreciated. Jason

  I installed nginxcp (A nginx plugin for cpanel). They recommend to add the following cron job to clean the temp files. 0 */1 * * * /usr/sbin/tmpwatch -am 1 /tmp/nginx_client But it does't work. Even running the command /usr/sbin/tmpwatch -am 1 /tmp/nginx_client nothing happens. None of the files are being removed. The only strange thing I noticed, is that all tmp files that are being stored at /tmp/nginx_client belongs to nobody nobody. What am I doing wrong? thanks.

• Can't create a registry key under Eventlog and I am in administrators group

  I am troubleshooting an installer problem where it's giving an error writing to a registry key. So when I use the Registry Editor (regedit) to create the same key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog, I get a "Cannot create key: Error writing to the registry". Looking at the permissions, administrators have full access and I am a member of that group. I can create entries in other areas in the registry. When I try to take ownership, I see my name already listed. But then I get an error "Unable to set new owner on Eventlog. Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service". I tried after a new reboot. I turned off my firewall (Comodo). Why can't I create a new key when I am an admin and permissions indicate I have full control?

When i try the url from my personal computer , the site is not reachable but the same url on the server( which hosts the application) i am able to access the site. When i disable the firewall then i am able to access the site from my pc. So there is some rule which is blocking this port. How do i determine what windows firewall rule is blocking this port.   I am at a loss. I posted this on SO, but think this is probably a better place. I have searched high and low and don't know what to do. I am running SQL Server Web Edition on Server 2008, which only supports local databases. I am trying to connect to localhost, but when I test my connection, I get this error. The feature: "The edition of Reporting Services that you are using requires that you use local SQL Server relational databases for report data sources and the report server database." is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. The DB was upgraded from SQL Express and when I select @@version, it says it's Web Edition. I've tried rebooting and that seemed to fix it, but only for a little while.

• Overseas proxy makes Google Chrome think I am in Germany or Netherlands

  I am in the UK and my firm has an outsourced webscanning service which routes our traffic through either Germany or The Netherlands. Whenever I do a search using Chrome's Address Bar I get either the .de or .nl results page. Is there any way to force Chrome to use the .co.uk ignoring the location it thinks I am in? Internet access is very locked down so alternate proxy suggestions will probably not work.

  QUESTIONs I'd like to know why I am getting Network error: 403 Forbidden in firebug for files that I am not trying to access? is it likely to cause any serious problems on the webserver? how to fix it. Why is my browser trying to access those files in the error message? DETAILS I’m using wampserver 2.2 to access a folder via the browser. The browser is on the same computer as the server. The computer is running windows 7 ultimate. When I view a web folder via my browser hXXp://localhost/folder I can see the folder contents ok but in firebug I get Network error: 403 Forbidden I’m not deliberately trying to access those files in the error msgs. You will notice they are in a completely different folder to the one I am looking at.   How to stop blanking screen although I am active on Ubuntu Karmic on old IBM Laptop 600E? After some time of working on the machine the screen goes blank. When I hit ESC on the built-in keyboard (not on the attached USB keyboard where I work) it comes back and everything works fine until the next screen-blanking. I suspect it is some power management issue. When I use an old keyboard that has a ps2 connector it does not happen. So my guess is that the usb keyboard does not update the power management timer that detects when the session was last used? I am using fluxbox window manager. I do not want to disable power management because it is nice that the fan only works at the necessary speed (the fan spped is regulated which I can hear) But I could disable power management for testing purposes.

I looked under "control panel-uninstall programs" I don't see flash player listed there. Also, I am printing the exit code for the process and it prints 1603 exit code, which is "fatal error during installation" As an experiment, I double click on the flash player .msi file, and it gave me 1722 error " Error 1722.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. "

  Dell Dimension 2350 with a Pentium IV processor and integrated video and network chips running Fedora12 does a "Sleeping Beauty" and I, apparently, am not am not a "handsome prince"! The system puts video and network to sleep and it will not wakeup. I have heard of this problem on laptops, but this is a tower. Any ideas or help is appreciated. I tried to ping the network card from another system and ping fails. The logs indicate that the system continues to be active. Pressing keyboard short-cut keys makes the disk light blink but neither the video or network card comes alive. Failing all else, are there any Linux commands that I could schedule in cron to pulse video and network adapters hourly that will keep them awake? Or, should I wait on Fedora13? Before this machine, I built a Dimension 2400 with Pentium IV and it had the same problem. Fedora9 on the same hardware is fine.

• Postfix - am I sending spam?

  today I received like 30 messages within 5 minutes telling me that some mail I send could not be delivered, mostly to *.ru email addresses which I did not send any mail to. I have my own webserver (postfix/dovecot) set up using this guide (http://workaround.org/ispmail/lenny) but adjusted a little bit for Ubuntu. I tested whether I am an Open Relay which I am apparently not. Now there are two possible reasons for the above mentioned emails: Either I am sending out spam, or somebody wants me to think that, correct? How can I check this? I selected one particular address that I supposedly send spam to. Then I searched my mail.log for this entry. I found two blocks that record that somebody from the server connected to my server and delivered some message to two different users. I cannot find an entry reporting that anyone from my server send an email to that server. Does this mean its just some mail to scare me or could it still have been send by me in the first place? • I am looking for a tool to measure or detect "unresponsiveness" of a desktop PC

  I have a client that provides some server systems to a hospital, and a support ticket was raised that the desktop application was hanging waiting for the server. We did some extensive testing and its pretty clear that the server is responsive, and the network is fine, and that the problem is on the client end. (no requests are received during the hang etc...) We take a look at the desktop machines and they should be fine, so we raise tickets with the software vendor who says that it must be the hardware, the hardware company says that it is the software, etc etc Anyway, so talking to the nurses, they say that these machines often "hang" for 30 seconds at a time, and sometimes during important moments where they need to get data for a patient who is unwell, such as charts and status. So I want to stick a client on these machines that would be able to detect arbitrary "unresponsiveness" of the keyboard/mouse and log that for analysis later. Obviously I am wary to suggest some application that takes resources and makes the problem even worse, so I would interested to see any tools that would detect these (is it correct to say that the keyboard interrupts are being discarded?) scenarios by looking for the OS discarding the interrupts, or whatever is appropriate here. so go on then serverfault, here is your chance to save a life.... ;-) Edit: I am starting to think that some of the tools associated with real time systems might be appropriate, at least as a diagnostic.

• Why am I experiencing random connection timeouts? (CentOS)

  I have a CentOS server setup that currently hosts several websites (all relative of each other in some form or another). As of recently throughout the day at the most random times the website speed will lag to a crawl and eventually hit a connection timeout. When I say random times this typically happens anywhere between 10am and 1pm usually, however, this morning this happened to me at 8am. I do not have a lot of familiarity with server knowledge as far as what I am looking for in this situation. What are some possible causes of why my server is slowing the websites down to a complete crawl or timing out? Are there specific things I should be checking for when this happens? I have noticed using: tail /var/log/httpd/access_log That usually when this down time occurs there are lot of IP addresses related to BingBot, Googlebot, and sometimes various bots or spiders that I am unfamiliar with. Could this be related and if so how can I avoid this from causing my websites to lag out? Thanks in advance for any help or advice. The websites that are timing out are built with PHP and use a MySQL database to display information.

• Cannot Delete Shortcut from Desktop because I need Admin Permissions even though I am Admin

  Installing the new Malwarebytes 2.0 put a shortcut on my desktop that I want to remove, but dragging it to the recycle bin shows this message: I am an administrator on this computer, so normally clicking "Continue" solves the problem, but it didn't work here. Instead, I got this message. How can I resolve this? I have tried using the built in super administrator account to remove it, but that does not work either.

• WIndows vista stops working when I am using Roxio to convert video files

  Am using ROXIO 1. to copy DVD file to my computer 2. to trim a section of the video 3. to convert the file to wmv and this is where Windows Vista gives the message that the program cannot continue. 4. I have followed all of the instructions from ROXIO support to clean my system and do a new install. It still does not work Anybody know how to resolve the problem?
