  • How to instantiate spring bean without being referenced from aop:aspect

    - by XDeveloper
Using Spring and Java; I have a pointcut which works OK. Now I want to remove the pointcut and AOP from the spring and just trigger the event with an event from inside the java code but I want "myAdvice" bean still called via Spring and its properties set. I want to get ridoff all advice things even in java code, no more advice or any trace of AOP, I already have a nice event system working. I just want to instantiate my bean via Spring. When I remove the second code block (one starting with "aop:config") then I noticed the bean "myAdvice" is not called and instantiated anymore. How can i stil call it set its properties without referencing it from the "aop:aspect" ? in my application context ; <bean id="myAdvice" class="com.myclass"> <property name="name1" ref="ref1" /> <property name="name2" ref="ref2" /> </bean> <aop:config proxy-target-class="true"> <aop:aspect id="myAspect" ref="myAdvice"> <aop:pointcut id="myPointcut" expression="execution(* com.myexcmethod" /> <aop:around pointcut-ref="myPointcut" method="invoke" /> </aop:aspect> </aop:config>

  • instantiate spring bean via factory method

    - by Don
Hi, I need to instantiate a Spring bean in the same manner as this Java code: MyClass foo = Mockito.mock(MyClass.class); The XML I need will look something like: <bean id="foo" class="Mockito" factory-method="mock"> <constructor-arg value="MyClass"/> </bean> I can't seem to find the correct syntax for passing a Class object as a parameter to the factory method. Thanks, Don

  • Null Inner Bean with Spring IoC

    - by bruno conde
Hi all. I have a singleton bean definition like this: <bean id="exampleBean" class="com.examples.ExampleBean"> <property name="exampleBean2"> <bean class="com.examples.ExampleBean2" /> </property> </bean> where ExampleBean could be: public class ExampleBean { private ExampleBean2 exampleBean2; public ExampleBean() { } public ExampleBean2 getExampleBean2() { return exampleBean2; } public void setExampleBean2(ExampleBean2 exampleBean2) { this.exampleBean2 = exampleBean2; } } The problem is that, in certain conditions, the com.examples.ExampleBean2 class might not exist at runtime witch will cause an error when the IoC tries to instantiate exampleBean. What I need is to ignore this error from IoC and allow the exampleBean to be created but leaving the exampleBean2 property null. So the question is: is this possible in any way? Thanks for all your help.

  • Remove stateful EJB bean in client

    - by palto
I'm currently learning EJB and as I understand when client gets a stateful session bean the server keeps it in memory(or passivates it) until the client removes the bean. Pretty simple, except nowhere I have seen any examples of how the client can actually remove the bean. How do you do that other than shutting down your client application? Or do I just have to implement a reset method in all my stateful beans if I want to start over?

    Hello, i have a web.xml with these 2 servlet: <servlet> <servlet-name>ApplicationContextFactory</servlet-name> <servlet-class>com.bamboo.common.factory.ApplicationContextFactory</servlet-class> <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup> </servlet> AND <servlet> <servlet-name>dispatcher</servlet-name> <servlet-class> org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet </servlet-class> <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup> </servlet> I need to use these bean declared on the ApplicationContextFactory: <bean id="**catalogFacadeTarget**" class="com.bamboo.catW3.business.impl.CatalogFacadeImpl"> <property name="categoryDAO"><ref local="categoryDAOTarget"/></property> <property name="containerDAO"><ref local="containerDAOTarget"/></property> <property name="productDAO"><ref local="productDAOTarget"/></property> <property name="productOptionDAO"><ref local="productOptionDAOTarget"/></property> <property name="productStatusDAO"><ref local="productStatusDAOTarget"/></property> <property name="userDAO"><ref local="userDAOTarget"/></property> </bean> in the dispatcher-servlet like this: <bean name="welcome" class="com.bamboo.catW3.business.impl.Welcome"> <property name="successView"> <value>welcome</value> </property> <property name="catalogFacadeImpl"><ref local="**categoryDAOTarget**"/> </property> </bean> Is it posible some how? Thank you!

  • Custom spring bean

    - by Hari
Hi, I want to convert some of our internal API into a spring bean that we can use in other projects. This API needs some instantiation and other logic which I want to encapsulate in this bean so that we can just put the bean into our app context with necessary propoerties alone. I remember having read an article on this somewhere in the past - but cant find it now. Any pointers to something similar will be helpful

  • jsf annotations

    - by Andrew Bucknell
    I've created an address bean and I want to use it twice - once for street address and once for mailing address. I can achieve this using faces config as per the below, but I'm wondering if I can do this via annotations. e.g. put @ManagedBean(name="StreetAddress") and @ManagedBean(name="MailingAddress") on the same class? I feel like I am missing something obvious here but I'm not sure what. <managed-bean> <managed-bean-name>MailingAddress</managed-bean-name> <managed-bean-class>com.leetb.jsf_ex1.model.AddressBean</managed-bean-class> <managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope> <map-entries/> </managed-bean> <managed-bean> <managed-bean-name>StreetAddress</managed-bean-name> <managed-bean-class>com.leetb.jsf_ex1.model.AddressBean</managed-bean-class> <managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope> <map-entries/> </managed-bean> public class AddressBean { private String line_one; private String line_two; private String suburb; private String state; private String postcode; /* getters and setters snipped */ }

  • How-to configure Spring Social via XML

    - by Matthias Steiner
    I spend a few hours trying to get Twitter integration to work with Spring Social using the XML configuration approach. All the examples I could find on the web (and on stackoverflow) always use the @Config approach as shown in the samples For whatever reason the bean definition to get an instance to the twitter API throws an AOP exception: Caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot create scoped proxy for bean 'scopedTarget.twitter': Target type could not be determined at the time of proxy creation. Here's the complete config file I have: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:jaxrs="http://cxf.apache.org/jaxrs" xmlns:context="http://www.springframework.org/schema/context" xmlns:util="http://www.springframework.org/schema/util" xmlns:cxf="http://cxf.apache.org/core" xmlns:aop="http://www.springframework.org/schema/aop" xmlns:jee="http://www.springframework.org/schema/jee" xmlns:mvc="http://www.springframework.org/schema/mvc" xmlns:jdbc="http://www.springframework.org/schema/jdbc" xsi:schemaLocation=" http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-3.1.xsd http://cxf.apache.org/jaxrs http://cxf.apache.org/schemas/jaxrs.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/context http://www.springframework.org/schema/context/spring-context.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/util http://www.springframework.org/schema/util/spring-util-3.1.xsd http://cxf.apache.org/core http://cxf.apache.org/schemas/core.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/aop http://www.springframework.org/schema/aop/spring-aop-3.1.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/jee http://www.springframework.org/schema/jee/spring-jee-3.1.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/mvc http://www.springframework.org/schema/mvc/spring-mvc-3.1.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/jdbc http://www.springframework.org/schema/jdbc/spring-jdbc-3.1.xsd"> <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf.xml" /> <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf-servlet.xml" /> <jee:jndi-lookup id="dataSource" jndi-name="java:comp/env/jdbc/DefaultDB" /> <!-- initialize DB required to store user auth tokens --> <jdbc:initialize-database data-source="dataSource" ignore-failures="ALL"> <jdbc:script location="classpath:/org/springframework/social/connect/jdbc/JdbcUsersConnectionRepository.sql"/> </jdbc:initialize-database> <bean id="connectionFactoryLocator" class="org.springframework.social.connect.support.ConnectionFactoryRegistry"> <property name="connectionFactories"> <list> <ref bean="twitterConnectFactory" /> </list> </property> </bean> <bean id="twitterConnectFactory" class="org.springframework.social.twitter.connect.TwitterConnectionFactory"> <constructor-arg value="xyz" /> <constructor-arg value="xzy" /> </bean> <bean id="usersConnectionRepository" class="org.springframework.social.connect.jdbc.JdbcUsersConnectionRepository"> <constructor-arg ref="dataSource" /> <constructor-arg ref="connectionFactoryLocator" /> <constructor-arg ref="textEncryptor" /> </bean> <bean id="connectionRepository" factory-method="createConnectionRepository" factory-bean="usersConnectionRepository" scope="request"> <constructor-arg value="#{request.userPrincipal.name}" /> <aop:scoped-proxy proxy-target-class="false" /> </bean> <bean id="twitter" factory-method="?ndPrimaryConnection" factory-bean="connectionRepository" scope="request" depends-on="connectionRepository"> <constructor-arg value="org.springframework.social.twitter.api.Twitter" /> <aop:scoped-proxy proxy-target-class="false" /> </bean> <bean id="textEncryptor" class="org.springframework.security.crypto.encrypt.Encryptors" factory-method="noOpText" /> <bean id="connectController" class="org.springframework.social.connect.web.ConnectController"> <constructor-arg ref="connectionFactoryLocator"/> <constructor-arg ref="connectionRepository"/> <property name="applicationUrl" value="https://socialscn.int.netweaver.ondemand.com/socialspringdemo" /> </bean> <bean id="signInAdapter" class="com.sap.netweaver.cloud.demo.social.SimpleSignInAdapter" /> </beans> What puzzles me is that the connectionRepositoryinstantiation works perfectly fine (I commented-out the twitter bean and tested the code!) ?!? It uses the same features: request scope and interface AOP proxy and works, but the twitter bean instantiation fails ?!? The spring social config code looks as follows (I can not see any differences, can you?): @Configuration public class SocialConfig { @Inject private Environment environment; @Inject private DataSource dataSource; @Bean @Scope(value="singleton", proxyMode=ScopedProxyMode.INTERFACES) public ConnectionFactoryLocator connectionFactoryLocator() { ConnectionFactoryRegistry registry = new ConnectionFactoryRegistry(); registry.addConnectionFactory(new TwitterConnectionFactory(environment.getProperty("twitter.consumerKey"), environment.getProperty("twitter.consumerSecret"))); return registry; } @Bean @Scope(value="singleton", proxyMode=ScopedProxyMode.INTERFACES) public UsersConnectionRepository usersConnectionRepository() { return new JdbcUsersConnectionRepository(dataSource, connectionFactoryLocator(), Encryptors.noOpText()); } @Bean @Scope(value="request", proxyMode=ScopedProxyMode.INTERFACES) public ConnectionRepository connectionRepository() { Authentication authentication = SecurityContextHolder.getContext().getAuthentication(); if (authentication == null) { throw new IllegalStateException("Unable to get a ConnectionRepository: no user signed in"); } return usersConnectionRepository().createConnectionRepository(authentication.getName()); } @Bean @Scope(value="request", proxyMode=ScopedProxyMode.INTERFACES) public Twitter twitter() { Connection<Twitter> twitter = connectionRepository().findPrimaryConnection(Twitter.class); return twitter != null ? twitter.getApi() : new TwitterTemplate(); } @Bean public ConnectController connectController() { ConnectController connectController = new ConnectController(connectionFactoryLocator(), connectionRepository()); connectController.addInterceptor(new PostToWallAfterConnectInterceptor()); connectController.addInterceptor(new TweetAfterConnectInterceptor()); return connectController; } @Bean public ProviderSignInController providerSignInController(RequestCache requestCache) { return new ProviderSignInController(connectionFactoryLocator(), usersConnectionRepository(), new SimpleSignInAdapter(requestCache)); } } Any help/pointers would be appreciated!!!   • Technical Article: Oracle Magazine Java Developer of the Year Adam Bien on Java EE 6 Simplicity by Design

    - by janice.heiss(at)oracle.com
Java Champion and Oracle Magazine Java Developer of the Year, Adam Bien, offers his unique perspective on how to leverage new Java EE 6 features to build simple and maintainable applications in a new article in Oracle Magazine. Bien examines different Java EE 6 architectures and design approaches in an effort to help developers build efficient, simple, and maintainable applications. From the article: "Java EE 6 consists of a set of independent APIs released together under the Java EE name. Although these APIs are independent, they fit together surprisingly well. For a given application, you could use only JavaServer Faces (JSF) 2.0, you could use Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) 3.1 for transactional services, or you could use Contexts and Dependency Injection (CDI) with Java Persistence API (JPA) 2.0 and the Bean Validation model to implement transactions.""With a pragmatic mix of available Java EE 6 APIs, you can entirely eliminate the need to implement infrastructure services such as transactions, threading, throttling, or monitoring in your application. The real challenge is in selecting the right subset of APIs that minimizes overhead and complexity while making sure you don't have to reinvent the wheel with custom code. As a general rule, you should strive to use existing Java SE and Java EE services before expanding your search to find alternatives." Read the entire article here.

  • JBoss: What does the warning EJBTHREE-1246 from the InterceptorRegistry mean?

    - by Simon Lehmann
I am currently developing an EJB 3.0 based application on the JBoss AS 5.0.0.GA and just recently the following warning showed up in the server log: 09:50:19,735 WARN [InterceptorsFactory] EJBTHREE-1246: Do not use InterceptorsFactory with a ManagedObjectAdvisor, InterceptorRegistry should be used via the bean container 09:50:19,735 WARN [InterceptorsFactory] EJBTHREE-1246: Do not use InterceptorsFactory with a ManagedObjectAdvisor, InterceptorRegistry should be used via the bean container 09:50:19,735 WARN [InterceptorRegistry] applicable interceptors is non-existent for ... ... The warnings are generated as soon as an EJB (a stateless session bean) is injected into a backing bean of my JSF web-application. The beans do work without problems though, but I still would like to know where that warning comes from and what I can do to avoid it. I have already searched a bit around, but haven't found a good answer (some say, bean developers do not have to worry, but its a warning, so I'd like to have a better solution): http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=147292 http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=4180366 http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=4140136 JBoss JIRA Issue about the warning (Not that helpful in my opinion) So has anyone an explanation what causes the warning (in terms of a bean developer, not application server developer) and what to do to avoid it? Update: I've just upgraded JBoss to 5.0.1.GA (Download, Release-Notes) but unfortunatly the warning still appears.

  • Spring bean initialization in a web app

    - by EugeneP
We work with a web application and autowire beans using WebApplicationContextUtils in the init method. Could you clarify some details about bean initialization? The question rises from the static factory method. Suppose there's a bean that is created in a static factory method. As we can see, when the web app is deployed, the ContextLoaderListener initializes all the beans present in Spring xml config file. Now happens such a thing. In the static factory method we run a timer that starts ticking. But in reality we wouldn't want it to start ticking unless the bean is injected into a property of the object ! That is question number one - all the beans are automatically initialized on deploy - correct? And after that when we need an injection, it simply feels the link with the address of the object created during initialization, though OBJECT WAS CREATED ON WEB APP DEPLOY, immediately ! (I assume the default singleton-creation Spring behavior) Second question: are all copies of a web app use the same beans, so all beans are WEB-APP wide, every Spring bean is shared between all the copies of this web app running?

  • how to programmatically register an already setup bean to spring context

    - by lisak
Hey, I'm wondering how one can do that. Afaik there is BeanFactoryPostProcessor interface that let us use BeanDefinitionRegistry.registerBeanDefinition() method before beans within context are initialized. That method accepts only a class / definition. But usually one needs to register a bean that is already set with properties. Otherwise the bean definition registration itself is kinda useless. I don't want to set it up additionally after I get it from context then. When using singleton it's ok, but for prototypes I'd have to set the bean up for each getBean() .

  • Using a Session Scoped Bean

    - by jboyd
The following code is returning null: private MyAppUser getMyAppUser(HttpSession session) { MyAppUser myAppUser = (MyAppUser) session.getAttribute("myAppUserManager"); return myAppUser; } Despite the fact that I have the following in my context: <bean id="myAppUserManager" class="com.myapp.profile.MyAppUser" scope="session"/> This doesn't make any sense to me, the "myAppUser" bean is a bean that absolutely can never be null, and I need to be able to reference it from controllers, I don't need it in services or repositories, just controllers, but it doesn't seem to be getting stored in the session, the use case is extremely simple, but I haven't been able to get to the bottom of what's wrong, or come up with a good workaround

  • Change spring bean properties at configuration time

    - by Nick Gerakines
In a spring servlet xml file, I'm using org.springframework.scheduling.quartz.SchedulerFactoryBean to regularly fire a set of triggers. <bean class="org.springframework.scheduling.quartz.SchedulerFactoryBean"> <property name="triggers"> <list> <ref local="AwesomeTrigger" /> <ref local="GreatTrigger" /> <ref local="FantasticTrigger"/> </list> </property> </bean> The issue is that in different environments, I don't want certain triggers firing. Is there a way to include some sort of configuration or variable defined either in my build.properties for the environment or in a spring custom context properties file that assists the bean xml to determine which triggers should be included in the list? That way, for example, AwesomeTrigger would be called in development but not qa.

  • BeanDefinition class removed in Spring 4?

    - by mushtaq
I am trying out the new Spring 4 release, and I found out that the BeanDefinition interface has been removed, if so what is the replacement class we should use in a scenario where we define a scope for a bean ? Prior to Spring release of 4 you could do this. @Bean @Scope(BeanDefinition.SCOPE_PROTOTYPE) class MyBean{ ... } EDIT As of Spring 4, can't you specify the spring bean scope in the @Scope Annotation, the only option given is to add a string and then the ProxyMode ?

  • By using ejb 3 , jsf and jboss is it possible to call a ejb method from web module?

    - by Bariscan
Even if I have different modules in my jee application including myproject-web and myproject-ejb; is it possible to call (or inject) my ejb session bean which is in the ejb module from a managed bean which is in the web module? When I asked before, I see the following declaration: @EJB private BeanInterface yourbean However, I wanna learn that whether it is possible or not, to call each other between different contexts (one of it in ejb context, the other one -managed bean- is in web context)? Any help would be appreciated Best wishes Bariscan

  • Spring's EntityManager not persisting

    - by Fernando Camargo
Well, my project was using EJB and JPA (with Hibernate), but I had to switch to Spring. Everything was working well before that. The EJB used to inject the EntityManager, controled the transaction, etc. Ok, when I switched to Spring, I had a lot of problems because I'm new on Spring. But after everything is running, I have the problem: the data is never saved on database. I configured my Spring to control the transactions, I have spring beans used in JSF, that has spring services that do the hard work. This services have a EntityManager injected and use @Transactional REQUIRED. This services pass the EntityManager to a DAO that call entityManager.persist(bean). The selects appears to work well, the JTA transaction appears to work well to (I saw in log), but the entity is not saved! Here is the log: INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.jpa.support.OpenEntityManagerInViewFilter: doFilterInternal() (linha 136): Opening JPA EntityManager in OpenEntityManagerInViewFilter INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.beans.factory.support.DefaultListableBeanFactory: doGetBean() (linha 245): Returning cached instance of singleton bean 'transactionManager' INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager: getTransaction() (linha 365): Creating new transaction with name [br.org.cni.pronatec.controller.service.MontanteServiceImpl.adicionarValor]: PROPAGATION_REQUIRED,ISOLATION_DEFAULT; '' INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager: doBegin() (linha 493): Opened new Session [org.hibernate.impl.SessionImpl@2b2fe2f0] for Hibernate transaction INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager: doBegin() (linha 504): Preparing JDBC Connection of Hibernate Session [org.hibernate.impl.SessionImpl@2b2fe2f0] INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager: doBegin() (linha 569): Exposing Hibernate transaction as JDBC transaction [com.sun.gjc.spi.jdbc40.ConnectionHolder40@3bcd4840] INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.jpa.ExtendedEntityManagerCreator$ExtendedEntityManagerInvocationHandler: doJoinTransaction() (linha 383): Joined JTA transaction INFO: Hibernate: select hibernate_sequence.nextval from dual INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager: processCommit() (linha 752): Initiating transaction commit INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager: doCommit() (linha 652): Committing Hibernate transaction on Session [org.hibernate.impl.SessionImpl@2b2fe2f0] INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager: doCleanupAfterCompletion() (linha 734): Closing Hibernate Session [org.hibernate.impl.SessionImpl@2b2fe2f0] after transaction INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.SessionFactoryUtils: closeSession() (linha 800): Closing Hibernate Session INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.jpa.support.OpenEntityManagerInViewFilter: doFilterInternal() (linha 154): Closing JPA EntityManager in OpenEntityManagerInViewFilter INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.jpa.EntityManagerFactoryUtils: closeEntityManager() (linha 343): Closing JPA EntityManager In the log, I see it commiting the transaction, but I don't see the insert query (the Hibernate is printing any query). The transaction is being controlled by the Spring, like is printed in the log, but the insert query is never printed in log and it is never saved. I'm sorry about my bad english. Thanks in advance for who helps.
