  • Need advice or pointers on Release Management Strategies

    - by Murray
I look after an internal web based (Java, JSP, Mediasurface, etc.) system that is in constant use (24/5). Users raise tickets for enhancements, bug fixes and other business changes. These issues are signed off individually and assigned to one of three or four developers. Once the issue is complete it is built and the code only committed to SVN. The changed files (templates, html, classes, jsp) are then copied to a dev server and committed to a different repository from where they are checked out to the UAT server for testing. (this often requires the Tomcat service to be restarted and occasionally the Mediasurface service as well). The users then test and either reject or approve the release. If approved the edited files are checked out to the Live server and the same process as with UAT undertaken. If rejected the developer makes the relevant changes and starts the release process again. This is all done manually without much control. Where different developers are working on similar files, changes sometimes get overwritten by builds done on out of sync code in other cases changes in UAT are moved to live in error as they are mixed up in files associated with a signed off release. I would like to move this to a more controlled and automated process where all source code and output files are held in SVN and releases to Dev, UAT and Live managed by a CI system (We have TeamCity in house for our .NET applications). My question is on how to manage the releases of multiple changes where some will be signed off and moved on and others rejected and returned to the developer. The changes may be on overlapping files and simply merging each release in to a Release Branch means that the rejected changes would have to be backed out of the branch. Is there a way to manage this using SVN and CI or will I simply have to live with the current system.

  • Simple .HTACCESS Passing Variables

    - by Willie Murray III
Let's says I have a classifieds site which has a URL structure similar to the one which I have listed below: Ex. http://takarat.com/openclassifieds/?category=iphone&location=tennessee This is what shows up when I click "tennessee" as the location and then click on "iphone" as the category. Now let's say this site has a search box and I wanted a URL which comes up after using this search box to show up as opposed to the previous URL. Let's say that whenever I search for the word "iphone" while WITHIN the iphone CATEGORY the following link shows up: Iphone SEARCH Ex. http://takarat.com/openclassifieds/?s=iphone&category=iphone&location=tennessee Ok, I want THAT iphone SEARCH to come up whenever anyone clicks Tennessee Iphone..How would I do this [by the way, I want this to be dynamic so that I can use the code for different combinations of locations and products etc..I want the code to use the CATEGORY name to conduct the search basically]? I believe that this will involve "Passing varibles" from the original link... I am new to programming so I may have my terminology wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. TURN THIS: takarat.com/openclassifieds/?category=iphone[var 1]&location=tennessee[var2] INTO THIS: takarat.com/openclassifieds/?s=iphone[var 1]&category=iphone[var 1]&location=tennessee[var2]

  • C++ scoping error

    - by Pat Murray
I have the following code: #include "Student.h" #include "SortedList.h" using namespace std; int main() { // points to the sorted list object SortedList *list = new SortedList; //This is line 17 // array to hold 100 student objects Student create[100]; int num = 100000; // holds different ID numbers // fills an array with 100 students of various ID numbers for (Student &x : create) { x = new Student(num); num += 100; } // insert all students into the sorted list for (Student &x : create) list->insert(&x); delete list; return 0; } And I keep getting the compile time error: main.cpp: In function ‘int main()’: main.cpp:17: error: ‘SortedList’ was not declared in this scope main.cpp:17: error: ‘list’ was not declared in this scope main.cpp:17: error: expected type-specifier before ‘SortedList’ main.cpp:17: error: expected `;' before ‘SortedList’ main.cpp:20: error: ‘Student’ was not declared in this scope main.cpp:20: error: expected primary-expression before ‘]’ token main.cpp:20: error: expected `;' before ‘create’ main.cpp:25: error: expected `;' before ‘x’ main.cpp:31: error: expected primary-expression before ‘for’ main.cpp:31: error: expected `;' before ‘for’ main.cpp:31: error: expected primary-expression before ‘for’ main.cpp:31: error: expected `)' before ‘for’ main.cpp:31: error: expected `;' before ‘x’ main.cpp:34: error: type ‘<type error>’ argument given to ‘delete’, expected pointer main.cpp:35: error: expected primary-expression before ‘return’ main.cpp:35: error: expected `)' before ‘return’ My Student.cpp and SortedList.cpp files compile just fine. They both also include .h files. I just do not understand why I get an error on that line. It seems to be a small issue though. Any insight would be appreciated. UPDATE1: I originally had .h files included, but i changed it when trying to figure out the cause of the error. The error remains with the .h files included though. UPDATE2: SortedList.h #ifndef SORTEDLIST_H #define SORTEDLIST_H #include "Student.h" /* * SortedList class * * A SortedList is an ordered collection of Students. • Take most significant 8 bytes of the MD5 hash of a string as a long (in Ruby)

    - by Nate Murray
Hey Friends, I'm trying to implement a java "hash" function in ruby. Here's the java side: import java.nio.charset.Charset; import java.security.MessageDigest; /** * @return most significant 8 bytes of the MD5 hash of the string, as a long */ protected long hash(String value) { byte[] md5hash; md5hash = md5Digest.digest(value.getBytes(Charset.forName("UTF8"))); long hash = 0L; for (int i = 0; i < 8; i++) { hash = hash << 8 | md5hash[i] & 0x00000000000000FFL; } return hash; } So far, my best guess in ruby is: # WRONG - doesn't work properly. #!/usr/bin/env ruby -wKU require 'digest/md5' require 'pp' md5hash = Digest::MD5.hexdigest("0").unpack("U*") pp md5hash hash = 0 0.upto(7) do |i| hash = hash << 8 | md5hash[i] & 0x00000000000000FF end pp hash Problem is, this ruby code doesn't match the java output. For reference, the above java code given these strings returns the corresponding long: "00038c53790ecedfeb2f83102e9115a522475d73" => -2059313900129568948 "0" => -3473083983811222033 "001211e8befc8ac22dd265ecaa77f8c227d0007f" => 3234260774580957018 Thoughts: I'm having problems getting the UTF8 bytes from the ruby string In ruby I'm using hexdigest, I suspect I should be using just digest instead The java code is taking the md5 of the UTF8 bytes whereas my ruby code is taking the bytes of the md5 (as hex) Any suggestions on how to get the exact same output in ruby?

  • Tips on managing dependencies for a release?

    - by Andrew Murray
Our system comprises many .NET websites, class libraries, and a MSSQL database. We use SVN for source control and TeamCity to automatically build to a Test server. Our team is normally working on 4 or 5 projects at a time. We try to lump many changes into a largish rollout every 2-4 weeks. My problem is with keeping track of all the dependencies for a rollout. Example: Website A cannot go live until we've rolled out Branch X of Class library B, built in turn against the Trunk of Class library C, which needs Config Updates Y and Z and Database Update D, which needs Migration Script E... It gets even more complex - like making sure each developer's project is actually compatible with the others and are building against the same versions. Yes, this is a management issue as much as a technical issue. Currently our non-optimal solution is: a whiteboard listing features that haven't gone live yet relying on our memory and intuition when planning the rollout, until we're pretty sure we've thought of everything... a dry-run on our Staging environment. It's a good indication but we're often not sure if Staging is 100% in sync with Live - part of the problem I'm hoping to solve. some amount of winging it on rollout day. So far so good, minus a few close calls. But as our system grows, I'd like a more scientific release management system allowing for more flexibility, like being able to roll out a single change or bugfix on it's own, safe in the knowledge that it won't break anything else. I'm guessing the best solution involves some sort of version numbering system, and perhaps using a project management tool. We're a start-up, so we're not too hot on religiously sticking to rigid processes, but we're happy to start, providing it doesn't add more overhead than it's worth. I'd love to hear advice from other teams who have solved this problem.

  • C# WinForms. Multiple Forms in separate threads

    - by Calum Murray
I'm trying to run an ATM Simulation in C# with Windows Forms that can have more than one instance of an ATM machine transacting with a bank account simultaneously. The idea is to use semaphores/locking to block critical code that may lead to race conditions. My question is this: How can I run two Forms simultaneously on separate threads? In particular, how does all of this fit in with the Application.Run() that's already there? Here's my main class: public class Bank { private Account[] ac = new Account[3]; private ATM atm; public Bank() { ac[0] = new Account(300, 1111, 111111); ac[1] = new Account(750, 2222, 222222); ac[2] = new Account(3000, 3333, 333333); Application.Run(new ATM(ac)); } static void Main(string[] args) { new Bank(); } } ...that I want to run two of these forms on separate threads... public partial class ATM : Form { //local reference to the array of accounts private Account[] ac; //this is a reference to the account that is being used private Account activeAccount = null; private static int stepCount = 0; private string buffer = ""; // the ATM constructor takes an array of account objects as a reference public ATM(Account[] ac) { InitializeComponent(); //Sets up Form ATM GUI in ATM.Designer.cs this.ac = ac; } ... I've tried using Thread ATM2 = new Thread(new ThreadStart(/*What goes in here?*/)); But what method do I put in the ThreadStart constructor, since the ATM form is event-driven and there's no one method controlling it? Thanks, Calum

  • What is the C# equivalent of java.util.regex?

    - by peter.murray.rust
I am converting Java code to C# and need to replace the use of Java's regex. A typical use is import java.util.regex.Matcher; import java.util.regex.Pattern; //... String myString = "B12"; Pattern pattern = Pattern.compile("[A-Za-z](\\d+)"); Matcher matcher = Pattern.matcher(myString); String serial = (matcher.matches()) ? matcher.group(1) : null; which should extract a capture group from a matched target string. I'd be grateful for simple examples. EDIT: I have now added the C# equivalent of the code as an answer. EDIT: Here is a tutorial on the use of the actual expressions. EDIT: Here is a useful comparison of C# and Java (and Perl.)

  • Alternatives to ASCX User Control without a server-side form?

    - by Andrew Murray
I've got an ASP.NET 3.5 Web Forms application in which a large chunk of code needs to be duplicated between a few different pages. Sounds like the ideal candidate for a user-control right? Problem is, this cannot be contained within a <form runat="server"> because it contains a client-side form of it's own. There are no runat=server controls or postbacks or anything that really need that webform - think of it just as a chunk of HTML with a few basic <% %> tags. I'd just want to set a property on the control when it's loaded, so that it knows what to output. This is purely an exercise to make the code easier to maintain. Before I resort to using an oldskool <!--#include-->, is there some better way of doing this?

  • ASP.Net MVC Moq SetupGet

    - by Nicholas Murray
Hi, I am starting out with TDD using Moq to Mock an interface that I have: public interface IDataService { void Commit(); TopListService TopLists { get; } } From the samples I have seen I would expect SetupGet (or Setup) to appear in the intellisense when I type var mockDataService = new Mock<IDataService>(); mockDataService. But it is missing. Could someone suggest why?

  • Finding the most frequent subtrees in a collection of (parse) trees

    - by peter.murray.rust
I have a collection of trees whose nodes are labelled (but not uniquely). Specifically the trees are from a collection of parsed sentences (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treebank). I wish to extract the most common subtrees from the collection - performance is not (yet) an issue. I'd be grateful for algorithms (ideally Java) or pointers to tools which do this for treebanks. Note that order of child nodes is important. EDIT @mjv. We are working in a limited domain (chemistry) which has a stylised language so the varirty of the trees is not huge - probably similar to children's readers. Simple tree for "the cat sat on the mat". <sentence> <nounPhrase> <article/> <noun/> </nounPhrase> <verbPhrase> <verb/> <prepositionPhrase> <preposition/> <nounPhrase> <article/> <noun/> </nounPhrase> </prepositionPhrase> </verbPhrase> </sentence> Here the sentence contains two identical part-of-speech subtrees (the actual tokens "cat". "mat" are not important in matching). So the algorithm would need to detect this. Note that not all nounPhrases are identical - "the big black cat" could be: <nounPhrase> <article/> <adjective/> <adjective/> <noun/> </nounPhrase> The length of sentences will be longer - between 15 to 30 nodes. I would expect to get useful results from 1000 trees. If this does not take more than a day or so that's acceptable. Obviously the shorter the tree the more frequent, so nounPhrase will be very common. EDIT If this is to be solved by flattening the tree then I think it would be related to Longest Common Substring, not Longest Common Sequence. But note that I don't necessarily just want the longest - I want a list of all those long enough to be "interesting" (criterion yet to be decided).

  • reading newlines with FORMAT statement

    - by peter.murray.rust
I'm writing a preprocessor and postprocessor for Fortran input and output using FORMAT-like statements (there are reasons not to use a FORTRAN library). I want to treat the new line ("/") character correctly. I don't have a Fortran compiler immediately to hand. Is there a simple algorithm for working out how many newlines are written or consumed (This post just gives reading examples) [Please assume a FORTRAN77-like mentality in the FORTRAN code and correct any FORTRAN syntax on my part] UPDATE: no comments yet so I am reduced to finding a compiler and running it myself. I'll post the answers if I'm not beaten to it. No-one commented I had the format syntax wrong. I've changed it but there may still be errors Assume datafile 1 a b c d etc... (a) does the READ command always consume a newline? does READ(1, '(A)') A READ(1, '(A)') B give A='a' and B='b' (b) what does READ(1,'(A,/)') A READ(1,'(A)') B give for B? (I would assume 'c') (c) what does READ(1, '(/)') READ(1, '(A)') A give for A (is it 'b' or 'c') (d) what does READ(1,'(A,/,A)') A, B READ(1,'(A)') C give for A and B and C(can I assume 'a' and 'b' and 'c') (e) what does READ(1,'(A,/,/,A)') A, B READ(1,'(A)') C give for A and B and C(can I assume 'a' and 'c' and 'd')? Are there any cases in which the '/' is redundant?

  • Seperate compilation in C++

    - by Pat Murray
Suppose you are creating a class with multiple .cpp files (which each contain the implementation of a member function) and have the class' declaration in a .h file. Also, each .cpp file includes the .h file via the include directive. I was told that if you change the implementation of any of the member functions (.cpp files) that you will have to recompile every .cpp file in order to run the program. That is, if I had 5 member functions (each implemented in a .cpp file) and I changed the implementation of 1 of the .cpp files I would have to compile the 1 .cpp file I changed AND the 4 other .cpp files I didn't change in order to correctly run my program. My question, if the previous statement is true, is why is the statement is true? Any insight on this concept would be helpful.

  • subscripts and superscripts in SVG

    - by peter.murray.rust
    I am trying to display sub- and superscripts with SVG using the following code from this site <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" version="1.1"> <g> <text x = "10" y = "25" font-size = "20"> <tspan> e = mc <tspan baseline-shift = "super">2</tspan> </tspan> <tspan x = "10" y = "60"> T <tspan baseline-shift = "sub">i+2</tspan> =T <tspan baseline-shift = "sub">i</tspan> + T <tspan baseline-shift = "sub">i+1</tspan> </tspan> </text> </g> but the sub/superscripts do not display in IE or Firefox. Is this unimplemented or is there another problem? [Are you able to see the subscripts displayed properly?]

  • ASP.Net MVC TDD using Moq

    - by Nicholas Murray
    I am trying to learn TDD/BDD using NUnit and Moq. The design that I have been following passes a DataService class to my controller to provide access to repositories. I would like to Mock the DataService class to allow testing of the controllers. There are lots of examples of mocking a repository passed to the controller but I can't work out how to mock a DataService class in this scenerio. Could someone please explain how to implement this? Here's a sample of the relevant code: [Test] public void Can_View_A_Single_Page_Of_Lists() { var dataService = new Mock<DataService>(); var controller = new ListsController(dataService); ... } namespace Services { public class DataService { private readonly IKeyedRepository<int, FavList> FavListRepository; private readonly IUnitOfWork unitOfWork; public FavListService FavLists { get; private set; } public DataService(IKeyedRepository<int, FavList> FavListRepository, IUnitOfWork unitOfWork) { this.FavListRepository = FavListRepository; this.unitOfWork = unitOfWork; FavLists = new FavListService(FavListRepository); } public void Commit() { unitOfWork.Commit(); } } } namespace MyListsWebsite.Controllers { public class ListsController : Controller { private readonly DataService dataService; public ListsController(DataService dataService) { this.dataService = dataService; } public ActionResult Index() { var myLists = dataService.FavLists.All().ToList(); return View(myLists); } } }

  • file_get_contents() removing tab and new line characters

    - by Patrick Murray
I am having an issue today with the file_get_contents() function. When reading large files, the newline and tab characters are often removed. Here is a minified example of how I am using this. I hope I am not the only one who has encountered this issue! :O Thank you for your time! <?php $file_name = "template.html"; $data = array( 'title' => 'Hello, World!', 'content'=> 'Hey stackoverflow!'); $file_contents = file_get_contents($file_name); foreach($data as $comment_name => $replacement_value){ $search = "<!-- ".strtoupper($comment_name)." -->"; $file_contents = str_replace($search, $replacement_value, $file_contents); } echo $file_contents; ?>

  • Canvas draw calls are rendering out of sequence

    - by Tom Murray
I have the following code for writing draw calls to a "back buffer" canvas, then placing those in a main canvas using drawImage. This is for optimization purposes and to ensure all images get placed in sequence. Before placing the buffer canvas on top of the main one, I'm using fillRect to create a dark-blue background on the main canvas. However, the blue background is rendering after the sprites. This is unexpected, as I am making its fillRect call first. Here is my code: render: function() { this.buffer.clearRect(0,0,this.w,this.h); this.context.fillStyle = "#000044"; this.context.fillRect(0,0,this.w,this.h); for (var i in this.renderQueue) { for (var ii = 0; ii < this.renderQueue[i].length; ii++) { sprite = this.renderQueue[i][ii]; // Draw it! this.buffer.fillStyle = "green"; this.buffer.fillRect(sprite.x, sprite.y, sprite.w, sprite.h); } } this.context.drawImage(this.bufferCanvas,0,0); } This also happens when I use fillRect on the buffer canvas, instead of the main one. Changing the globalCompositeOperation between 'source-over' and 'destination-over' (for both contexts) does nothing to change this. Paradoxically, if I instead place the blue fillRect inside the nested for loops with the other draw calls, it works as expected... Thanks in advance!

  • Different Assembly Name for Each Platform Target

    - by Murray
I need to generate different assembly names depending on the platform target. For example, I have a console application "bob.exe". Instead of building for AnyCPU, I need to build explicitly for x86 and x64 and thus want "bob32.exe" and "bob64.exe". The Application tab in Visual Studio 2010 project options disables the Platform combobox. Build Events also don't allow options per platform so I can't rename it afterwards very easily.

  • Grow Your Business with Security

    - by Darin Pendergraft
Author: Kevin Moulton Kevin Moulton has been in the security space for more than 25 years, and with Oracle for 7 years. He manages the East EnterpriseSecurity Sales Consulting Team. He is also a Distinguished Toastmaster. Follow Kevin on Twitter at twitter.com/kevin_moulton, where he sometimes tweets about security, but might also tweet about running, beer, food, baseball, football, good books, or whatever else grabs his attention. Kevin will be a regular contributor to this blog so stay tuned for more posts from him. It happened again! There I was, reading something interesting online, and realizing that a friend might find it interesting too. I clicked on the little email link, thinking that I could easily forward this to my friend, but no! Instead, a new screen popped up where I was asked to create an account. I was expected to create a User ID and password, not to mention providing some personally identifiable information, just for the privilege of helping that website spread their word. Of course, I didn’t want to have to remember a new account and password, I didn’t want to provide the requisite information, and I didn’t want to waste my time. I gave up, closed the web page, and moved on to something else. I was left with a bad taste in my mouth, and my friend might never find her way to this interesting website. If you were this content provider, would this be the outcome you were looking for? A few days later, I had a similar experience, but this one went a little differently. I was surfing the web, when I happened upon some little chotcke that I just had to have. I added it to my cart. When I went to buy the item, I was again brought to a page to create account. Groan! But wait! On this page, I also had the option to sign in with my OpenID account, my Facebook account, my Yahoo account, or my Google Account. I have all of those! No new account to create, no new password to remember, and no personally identifiable information to be given to someone else (I’ve already given it all to those other guys, after all). In this case, the vendor was easy to deal with, and I happily completed the transaction. That pleasant experience will bring me back again. This is where security can grow your business. It’s a differentiator. You’ve got to have a presence on the web, and that presence has to take into account all the smart phones everyone’s carrying, and the tablets that took over cyber Monday this year. If you are a company that a customer can deal with securely, and do so easily, then you are a company customers will come back to again and again. I recently had a need to open a new bank account. Every bank has a web presence now, but they are certainly not all the same. I wanted one that I could deal with easily using my laptop, but I also wanted 2-factor authentication in case I had to login from a shared machine, and I wanted an app for my iPad. I found a bank with all three, and that’s who I am doing business with. Let’s say, for example, that I’m in a regular Texas Hold-em game on Friday nights, so I move a couple of hundred bucks from checking to savings on Friday afternoons. I move a similar amount each week and I do it from the same machine. The bank trusts me, and they trust my machine. Most importantly, they trust my behavior. This is adaptive authentication. There should be no reason for my bank to make this transaction difficult for me. Now let's say that I login from a Starbucks in Uzbekistan, and I transfer $2,500. What should my bank do now? Should they stop the transaction? Should they call my home number? (My former bank did exactly this once when I was taking money out of an ATM on a business trip, when I had provided my cell phone number as my primary contact. When I asked them why they called my home number rather than my cell, they told me that their “policy” is to call the home number. If I'm on the road, what exactly is the use of trying to reach me at home to verify my transaction?) But, back to Uzbekistan… Should my bank assume that I am happily at home in New Jersey, and someone is trying to hack into my account? Perhaps they think they are protecting me, but I wouldn’t be very happy if I happened to be traveling on business in Central Asia. What if my bank were to automatically analyze my behavior and calculate a risk score? Clearly, this scenario would be outside of my typical behavior, so my risk score would necessitate something more than a simple login and password. Perhaps, in this case, a one-time password to my cell phone would prove that this is not just some hacker half way around the world. But, what if you're not a bank? Do you need this level of security? If you want to be a business that is easy to deal with while also protecting your customers, then of course you do. You want your customers to trust you, but you also want them to enjoy doing business with you. Make it easy for them to do business with you, and they’ll come back, and perhaps even Tweet about it, or Like you, and then their friends will follow. How can Oracle help? Oracle has the technology and expertise to help you to grown your business with security. • Can't start HTTPD

    - by Kevin
    I'm trying to start httpd, but it only gives me '[FAILED]'. Now, I installed exim, but that didn't worked, so I uninstalled it. But then the web server didn't worked any more! I tried to /etc/init.d/httpd start, but that gives '[FAILED]' without a reason. What can I do to get it started? httpd -e debug gives: [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module auth_basic_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module auth_digest_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authn_file_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authn_alias_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authn_anon_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authn_dbm_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authn_default_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authz_host_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authz_user_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authz_owner_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authz_groupfile_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authz_dbm_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authz_default_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module ldap_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authnz_ldap_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module include_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module log_config_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module logio_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module env_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module ext_filter_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module mime_magic_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module expires_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module deflate_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module headers_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module usertrack_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module setenvif_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module mime_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module dav_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module status_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module autoindex_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module info_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module dav_fs_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module vhost_alias_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module negotiation_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module dir_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module actions_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module speling_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module userdir_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module alias_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module rewrite_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module proxy_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module proxy_balancer_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module proxy_ftp_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module proxy_http_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module proxy_connect_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module cache_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module suexec_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module disk_cache_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module file_cache_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module mem_cache_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module cgi_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module version_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module ssl_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module fcgid_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module perl_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module php5_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module proxy_ajp_module [Wed Nov 23 11:47:25 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module python_module Regards, Kevin

  • PHP install sqlite3 extension

We are using PHP 5.3.6 here, but we used the --without-sqlite3 command when compiling PHP. (It stands in the 'Configure Command' column). • How clean is deleting a computer object?

    - by Kevin
Though quite skilled at software development, I'm a novice when it comes to Active Directory. I've noticed that AD seems to have a lot of stuff buried in the directory and schema which does not appear superficially when using simplified tools such as Active Directory Users and Computers. It kind of feels like the Windows registry, where COM classes have all kinds of intertwined references, many of which are purely by GUID, such that it's not enough to just search for anything referencing "GadgetXyz" by name in order to cleanly remove GadgetXyz. This occasionally leads to the uneasy feeling that I may have useless garbage building up in there which I have no idea how to weed out. For instance, I made the mistake a while back of trying to rename a DC, figuring I could just do it in the usual manner from Control Panel. I found references to the old name buried all over the place which made it impossible to reuse that name without considerable manual cleanup. Even long after I got it all working, I've stumbled upon the old name hidden away in LDAP. (There were no other DCs left in the picture at that time so I don't think it was a tombstone issue.) More specifically, I'm worried about the case of just outright deleting a computer from AD. I understand the cleanest way to do it is to log into the computer itself and tell it to leave the domain. (As an aside, doing this in Windows 8 seems to only disable the computer object and not delete it outright!) My concern is cases where this is not possible, for instance because it was on an already-deleted VM image. I can simply go into Active Directory Users and Computers, find the computer object, click it, and press Delete, and it seems to go away. My question is, is it totally, totally gone, or could this leave hanging references in any Active Directory nook or cranny I won't know to look in? (Excluding of course the expected tombstone records which expire after a set time.) If so, is there any good way to clean up the mess? Thank you for any insight! Kevin ps., It was over a year ago so I don't remember the exact details, but here's the gist of the DC renaming issue. I started with a single 2008 DC named ABC in a physical machine and wanted to end up instead with a DC of the same name running in a vSphere VM. Not wanting to mess with imaging the physical machine, my plan instead was: Rename ABC to XYZ. Fresh install 2008 on a VM, name it ABC, and join it to the domain. (I may have done the latter in the same step as promoting to DC; I don't recall.) dcpromo the new ABC as a 2nd DC, including GC. Make sure the new ABC replicated correctly from XYZ and then transfer the FSMO roles from XYZ to it. Once everything was confirmed to work with the new ABC alone, demote XYZ, remove the AD role, and remove it from the domain. Eventually I managed to do this but it was a much bumpier ride than expected. In particular, I got errors trying to join the new ABC to the domain. These included "The pre-windows 2000 name is already in use" and "No mapping between account names and security IDs was done." I eventually found that the computer object for XYZ had attributes that still referred to it as ABC. Among these were servicePrincipalName, msDS-AdditionalDnsHostName, and msDS-AdditionalSamAccountName. The latter I could not edit via Attribute Editor and instead had to run this against XYZ: NETDOM computername <simple-name> /add:<FQDN> There were some other hitches I don't remember exactly.

  • How should I plan the inheritance structure for my game?

    - by Eric Thoma
I am trying to write a platform shooter in C++ with a really good class structure for robustness. The game itself is secondary; it is the learning process of writing it that is primary. I am implementing an inheritance tree for all of the objects in my game, but I find myself unsure on some decisions. One specific issue that it bugging me is this: I have an Actor that is simply defined as anything in the game world. Under Actor is Character. Both of these classes are abstract. Under Character is the Philosopher, who is the main character that the user commands. Also under Character is NPC, which uses an AI module with stock routines for friendly, enemy and (maybe) neutral alignments. So under NPC I want to have three subclasses: FriendlyNPC, EnemyNPC and NeutralNPC. These classes are not abstract, and will often be subclassed in order to make different types of NPC's, like Engineer, Scientist and the most evil Programmer. Still, if I want to implement a generic NPC named Kevin, it would nice to be able to put him in without making a new class for him. I could just instantiate a FriendlyNPC and pass some values for the AI machine and for the dialogue; that would be ideal. But what if Kevin is the one benevolent Programmer in the whole world? Now we must make a class for him (but what should it be called?). Now we have a character that should inherit from Programmer (as Kevin has all the same abilities but just uses the friendly AI functions) but also should inherit from FriendlyNPC. Programmer and FriendlyNPC branched away from each other on the inheritance tree, so inheriting from both of them would have conflicts, because some of the same functions have been implemented in different ways on the two of them. 1) Is there a better way to order these classes to avoid these conflicts? Having three subclasses; Friendly, Enemy and Neutral; from each type of NPC; Engineer, Scientist, and Programmer; would amount to a huge number of classes. I would share specific implementation details, but I am writing the game slowly, piece by piece, and so I haven't implemented past Character yet. 2) Is there a place where I can learn these programming paradigms? I am already trying to take advantage of some good design patterns, like MVC architecture and Mediator objects. The whole point of this project is to write something in good style. It is difficult to tell what should become a subclass and what should become a state (i.e. Friendly boolean v. Friendly class). Having many states slows down code with if statements and makes classes long and unwieldy. On the other hand, having a class for everything isn't practical. 3) Are there good rules of thumb or resources to learn more about this? 4) Finally, where does templating come in to this? How should I coordinate templates into my class structure? I have never actually taken advantage of templating honestly, but I hear that it increases modularity, which means good code.
