• Jquery Ajax + PHP

  I am having problems with jQuery Ajax and PHP I have my php file set up to echo the data I am gathering from a mysql database. I have verified that the database is returning something and that the string at the end of the function actually contains data. What is happening though, is that it looks like the php echo is happening before the ajax call, causing the php data to be displayed at the top of the page, and not below in proper div. I think it might have something to do with timing of the ajax and the php call, but I am not sure. So, why is the data not getting caught by the .ajax and thrown into the div? • Lotus view column compare to string/integer

  I have a lotus view that stores a number. I need to perform some math against the value, but I am having a lot of problems getting the types to match up. doc.numOfGold = numGold and CInt(doc.numOfGold) = numGold and CInt(doc.numOfGold) = CInt(numGold) and doc.numOfGold = CInt(numGold) all return type mismatch. I've tried changing the column properties to treat it as a decimal, with no better luck. Any thoughts? Thanks!

• XCode - Multiple targets, Multiple *internationalized* names?

  I've got an internationalized iPhone project. In the various ${lang}.lproj/InfoPlist.strings files I've got a single key, CFBundleName = "My App Name". That's working fine for a single target, but I can't make it work for multiple targets. I'd like to have several translated InfoPlistMyApp.strings files for the main target, plus several InfoPlistMyApp*Lite*.strings files for the lite version. But I can't figure out how to set it up. The InfoPlist.strings name seems to be set in stone, so I can't replace it dynamically. Any ideas?

• Creating a Dib by only specifying the size with GDI+ and DotNet...

  I have just recently discovered the difference between different constructors in GDI+. Going: var bmp = new Bitmap(width, height, pixelFormat); creates a DDB (Device Dependent Bitmap) whereas: var bmp = new Bitmap(someFile); creates a DIB (Device Independent Bitmap). This is really not usually important, except when handling very large images (where a DDB will run out of memory, and run out of memory at different sizes depending on the machine and its video memory). I need to create a DIB rather than DDB, but specify the height, width and pixelformat. Does anyone know how to do this in DotNet. Also is there a guide to what type of Bitmap (DIB or DDB) is being created by which Bitmap constructor?

• Creating and Saving an Excel File

  I have the following code that creates a new Excel file in my C# code behind. When I attempt to save the file I would like the user to select the location of the save. In Method #1, I can save the file my using the workbook SaveCopyAs without prompting the user for a location. This saves one file to the C:\Temp directory. Method #2 will save the file in my Users\Documents folder, then prompt the user to select the location and save a second copy. How can I eliminate the first copy from saving in the Users\Documents folder? • Photoshop CS4. How do I make sure my color stays the same in my different .psd files? (could be RGB

  I asked 2 photoshop experts I know but they haven't got a clue because all my settings are exactly the same, in both files. (except the RGB type !! I'm not sure. Please read on) I use RGB color, 72DPI, 8 bits / channel. No adjustments (filters, like greyscale, etc ...) are selected / used. The layers are both normal, and opacity and fill are 100% (yes, in both files). Now, I know the CMYK settings (see screenshots) are different, but when the settings are the same the color changes. Why is this happening and how do I solve this problem? My guess is I'm working with different a type of RGB. It's sRGB IE61966 - 2.1 in the file I created (file info raw data) but I can't find that in the file that started with a screenshot. If that's the problem, how do I change / convert the RGB, once the file is already open? Thank you.

  Hi folks, I'm looking for some method of converting a PHP Docblock (as used for generating documentation by tools like Doxygen) into a structure I can inspect in PHP. The question is subjective, that is the point. I want to end up with a list ordered by what the community likes.   I want to create a navigation which got divider between each list element. • Pattern for unidirectional has_many join?

  It occurred to me that if I have a has_many join, where the foreign model does not have a belongs_to, and so the join is one way, then I don't actually need a foreign key. We could have a column, category_ids, which stores a marshaled Array of IDs which we can pass to find. • Disable update on battery percentage

  I have a service that performs background updates. I want to give the user the the option to disable the updates when their battery percentage reaches a certain level. From my research, I'm going to use a receiver in the onCreate method of my Service class, eg: public class MainService extends Service { @Override public void onCreate() { this.registerReceiver(this.BatInfoReceiver, new IntentFilter(Intent.ACTION_BATTERY_CHANGED)); } private BroadcastReceiver BatInfoReceiver = new BroadcastReceiver(){ @Override public void onReceive(Context arg0, Intent intent) { int level = intent.getIntExtra("level", 0); } }; } I'm assuming the best practice is to leave the service running and check the battery level in the service and not perform the CPU intensive code based on the percentage? I don't actually stop the service itself and start it up again, based on the battery percentage?

• Visual Studio 11 not 2011

  A little pet peeve of mine is when people incorrectly refer to the Developer Preview (or the upcoming Beta) as Visual Studio 2011 instead of the correct Visual Studio 11. The "11" refers to the version number (internally we call it Dev11). What the product will be called when it is released is anyone's guess (it could keep the name or it could have a year appended to it, or it could be something else, who knows). Even if it does have a year appended to the name, I think it is a safe bet it won't be last year! For reference, version 10 was the previous version of Visual Studio which happened to be released in 2010, hence it got the name Visual Studio 2010. That is what confuses new people to this product I guess... they think that the two-digit number matches the year, just because it coincided like that last year. (btw, internally we called it Dev10). For further reference, older releases were: Visual Studio 2008 (v9) aka "Orcas", Visual Studio 2005 (v8) aka "Whidbey", Visual Studio .NET 2003 (v7.1) aka "Everett", and Visual Studio .NET 2002 (v7) aka "Rainier". Before that, we were in the pre-.NET era with Visual Studio 6 (where the version and the product name matched, without the year appended to the name). • Nagios "CRITICAL - Socket timeout after 10 seconds" problems with service and host Checks.

  Hi Everyone, got a little bit of a problem with a Nagios system we are using in our office, which has only recently started appearing. what i would like to know really is the best solution to resolve this problem as ive done a bit of reading on it and there seems to be lots of different ways to solve it.. basically at random points throughout the day and on random hosts / services we will get a Critical warning flagged up that something is not behaving as it should, when we investigate 9 times out of 10 we end up with this as an error message. "SERVICE ALERT: SERVERNAME ;NSClient++ Version;CRITICAL;SOFT;1;CRITICAL - Socket timeout after 10 seconds" indicating the service or host has timed out, where do i go about setting the timeouts so this stops ? ive read that some of the plugin timesouts are as low as 10 seconds... thanks Kris

• 4 - 7 second delay accessing Mysql across the network

  Hello, our company has recently purchased a new server with the intention of replacing our aging database server. its a full 64bit 2008 enterprise system, i have got the basic server setup and configured and then installed the 64bit version of mysql on the server, this has then been configured to match where possible our existing server as much as it can. however i have noticed that when it was swapped with the production database server our software systems had an increased delay accessing the mysql database this was anything beween 4 - 7 seconds. i have tried disabling TOE, IPv6 and a few other suggested soultions to this but so far cannot find out where this slowdown is coming from. replacing the server with the production one and the delay goes away. in terms of software and hardware the servers are not very identical at all due to one being windows 2003 std with a 32bit server and the new one being windows 2008 enterprise with a 64bit server. thanks Kris

• Split string into sentences based on periods

  Hi all, I have written this piece of code that splits a string and stores it in a string array:- String[] sSentence = sResult.split("[a-z]\.\s+"); However, I've added the [a-z] because I wanted to deal with some of the abbreviation problem. But then my result shows up as so:- Furthermore when Everett tried to instruct them in basic mathematics they proved unresponsiv I see that I loose the pattern specified in the split function. Its okay for me to loose the period, but loosing the last letter of the word disturbs its meaning. Could some one help me with this and in addition also could someone help me with dealing with abbreviations? Like because I split the string based on periods, I do not want to loose the abbreviations. Thanks in advance

  I accidentally installed Ubuntu to one of my data drives from Windows. The drive was a NTFS drive and contained about 80 GB of important data. The size of the drive is 110 GB. Its new file system is ext4. In an attempt to recover the data, I downloaded foremost and tried the following commands: foremost -i / -o /media/281C8DB01C8D7998/Recovery/ -T -v foremost -i /dev/sda7 -o /media/281C8DB01C8D7998/Recovery/ -T -v (sda7 is the drive in question.) It appears that with either command, foremost gets stuck reading some file. Foi o caso da revolução industrial, que automatizou processos de produção, ou da câmera digital que alterou a forma como habitualmente fotos eram tiradas e reveladas.Dentro deste processo existe uma curva de adoção tecnológica, esta curva foi criada americano Everett M. Rogers, PHd em sociologia e estatística.Em seu livro “The diffusion of inovations” (1962) – em português – A difusão das inovações, Rogers apresenta após diversas análises e estudos a curva de adoção tecnológica, Roger´s é o criador do termo Early Adopters muito utilizado nos dias de hoje.Abaixo podemos entender a curva de adoção:2,5% da população são os Innovators/Inovadores – eles possuem acesso á qualquer inovação antes de todos, por questões sociais, influência, conhecimento. São as pessoas que tem acesso a inovação antes que ela esteja disponível no mercado. 13,50 % são os Early Adopters, pessoas e empresa que por uma questão comportamental buscam ter as inovações assim que são lançadas, frente a isso existe uma série de vantagens e desvantagens. Estar à frente do mercado muitas vezes significa utilizar coisas que o mercado ainda não utiliza, por isso este comportamento pode colocar muitas empresas a frente de seus concorrentes mais tradicionais. • Basic HTTP Authentication using Obj C and Xcode.

  Hi Everyone, I am hoping someone can help me with a question i have relating to Basic HTTP Authentication in an Xcode 2.3 application. Basically i have a PHP page that is on our server and when called with certain parameters returns data relating to the servers condition etc. i have managed to get a small Xcode application working where by it reads the data from the page and populates an NSTextView with the data. however to make sure this information stays safe i have setup basic HTTP Authentication on the page, but i cannot work out how to provide the username and password in XCode. here is my code to retrieve the page. NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.google.com"]; NSString *content = [NSString stringWIthContentsOfUrl:url]; [myTextView setString:content]; i am still at a very basic beginner level regarding xcode and obj c, so nice simple examples of how i go about this would really be appreciated.   Good morning everyone at Stackoverflow, I am trying to find a VBA script that finds and replaces a certain text in incoming e-mails. So far i've been unable to find such a script that is working. I found several scripts to find and replace stuff in the e-mail but these don't work as a rule on incoming e-mails, they only work on outgoing / creating e-mails. Does anyone have such a script that they can share with me? I would like to find & replace a certain text on every incoming e-mail. I would really apreciate it!   Write a program to print out all possible values of int data type from the smallest to the largest, using Java. Some notable solutions as of 8th of May 2009, 10:44 GMT: 1) Daniel Lew was the first to post correctly working code. 2) Kris has provided the simplest solution for the given problem. 3) Tom Hawtin - tackline, came up arguably with the most elegant solution. 4) mmyers pointed out that printing is likely to become a bottleneck and can be improved through buffering. 5) Jay's brute force approach is notable since, besides defying the core point of programming, the resulting source code takes about 128 GB and will blow compiler limits. As a side note I believe that the answers do demonstrate that it could be a good interview question, as long as the emphasis is not on the ability to remember trivia about the data type overflow and its implications (that can be easily spotted during unit testing), or the way of obtaining MAX and MIN limits (can easily be looked up in the documentation) but rather on the analysis of various ways of dealing with the problem.
