  • Creating multiple markers in Google Maps using XML

    I'm almost sure this question has been asked before, but for the love of me I just can't find the answer anywhere. Basically what I want to do is create multiple markers on a custom Google Map I'm building. I already have an XML file with the coordinates (lat/lng) and title of each item. I'd like to take the data from the XML file and use it to create markers on the map. I've found how to do this using KML files and MySQL/PHP, but I need to know how to do it in Javascript. One more thing: I have a .xml file of my own, so it won't be like I'll be getting the data from a webpage because I believe (from research I've done today) that the code for that may be different. If anyone knows if this has been posted somewhere else before, could you please direct me there? I've literally been searching all day, this is my last resort. Thanks a ton!!!

    Hi Guys I have a text file that contains Amounts at Substring (34, 47) of each line. I need to sum Up all the Values to the End of the File.   • Cannot add an icon to Resources

    Have been inputting and testing some sample code and everything seems to be ok. Just that suddenly I am running into this very frustrating problem of trying to add an icon to the project. Have downloaded an icon file (extension : icns) to my desktop and dragged it to the "Resources" group in xCode. Then a dialogue comes up from xCode where I checked the 2 options : "Copy items into destination group's folder (if needed)" and "Recursively create groups for any added folders". But when I press the "Add" button, an "Alert" message box would come up. It says "Could not copy the icon to ...". Hope that someone knowledgable in this area would give me some hints...

  • Cocoa Interface Builder object initialization

    Base on the documentation and sample code that I have gone through, I got an impression that when a class defined in xcode is read into and configured in Interface Builder, an object based on the class is effectively created and stored in an xib or nib file. So the object is ready to be used when the corresponding application is launched. Alternatively, for classes that have not been handled by Interface Builder, code such as the "new" statements have to be written in xcode explicitly in order for the associated objects to be created and used. It will be very nice to have people who are more knowledgable than me to confirm or to correct my very naive understanding of Interface Builder ...

  • NSString cannot be released

    Consider the following method and the caller code block. The method analyses a NSString and extracts a "http://" string which it passes out by reference as an auto release object. Without releasing g_scan_result, the program works as expected. But according to non-arc rules, g_scan_result should be released since a retain has been called against it. My question are : Why g_scan_result cannot be released ? Is there anything wrong the way g_scan_result is handled in the posted coding below ? Is it safe not to release g_scan_result as long as the program runs correctly and the XCode Memory Leak tool does not show leakage ? Which XCode profile tools should I look into to check and under which subtitle ?     Hi Guys I have this Table I need to replace the First Letter in ACCT_NAME with the First Name of ACCT_SHORT_NAME. Records like the Higliighted(RAFFMAN) should not be changed.   • IB z-order on simulator 6.0

    Consider the above's IB objects listing. Siblings further down the list should be on top of the siblings listed further up when rendered on the screen. Under Xcode 4.5.2, everything is ok if iphone simulator 5.1 is used. But for simulator 6.0 the map just covers everything. The same if using actual devices (phones) for testing. Hope that somebody knowledgeable could help. Please also add comments if you do not find such a problem on simulator 6.0. Because chances are the problem is related to how my project is setup. Update : Have setup a test project with the iOS 6 map view. There seems to be no problem with the z-order. So the problem should relate to my code.

  • iOS app won't compile on device but works fine in simulator

    I'm assuming this has something to do with linking, but I've removed RestKit and re-added it. I made sure all my connections and linking was in place. If I set XCode to use the simulator it runs fine, but as soon as I set it to run on any device it won't even build. The only other thing of note is this didn't start happening till I upgraded to XCode 4.5.   • Disable local delivery in Sendmail

    I am using Sendmail on a Centos server to send email for PHP scripts, but the problem is that mail is delivered to a local mailbox on the machine rather than what is specified in the MX records for the domain - which actually point to another machine I use for email. I would like sendmail to not try and locally deliver mail for the domain the machine is setup for, is there a simple way to disable local delivery? The domain is not in the local-host-names file. I've already done lots of googling and I have looked at: http://serverfault.com/questions/26934/sendmail-configuration-to-not-deliver-mail-to-local-machine http://serverfault.com/questions/65365/disable-local-delivery-in-sendmail But either there is no answer or it is not suitable. I don't want to relay to another server, i just want it to send mail regardless of domain.   • Hardware firewall vs VMWare firewall appliance

    We have a debate in our office going on whether it's necessary to get a hardware firewall or set up a virtual one on our VMWare cluster. Our environment consists of 3 server nodes (16 cores w/ 64 GB RAM each) over 2x 1 GB switches w/ an iSCSI shared storage array. Assuming that we would be dedicating resources to the VMWare appliances, would we have any benefit of choosing a hardware firewall over a virtual one? If we choose to use a hardware firewall, how would a dedicated server firewall w/ something like ClearOS compare to a Cisco firewall?

  • Meaning of directories on Unix and Unix like systems

    I've been using Linux for a couple of years now but I still haven't figured out what the origin or meaning of some the directory names are on Unix and Unix like systems. E.g. what does etc stand for or var? Where does the opt name come from? And while we're on the topic anyway. Can someone give a clear explanation of what directory is best used for what. I sometimes get confused where certain software is installed or what the most appropriate directory is to install software into.

  • IIS 7 Using Domain Account for Application pool identity Invalid Password

    I have an asp.net website containing a WCF service that I am developing on a Windows 7 machine hosted with IIS 7. I am needing to connect to an instance of Reporting Services 2005 with the service, and have been getting 401 errors when trying to execute reports. So, I assume that I need to be running the IIS Application pool under a domain account. The problem is that when I try to change the identity to a domain account, I get the error message "The specified password is invalid. Type a new password." I've rechecked the password multiple times to make sure it is correct. The account I'm using has admin rights on the machine. I saw elsewhere to try running this command: aspnet_regiis.exe -GA domain\username which I did but it didn't help. What else do I need to do?

  • Bind DHCP Server to Network Bridge

    My wireless router died, so I decided to route everything through my server. So I installed a second NIC and a wireless card to be my new network: 1 NIC to the Modem, 1 NIC to the switch, and the Wireless to... Well, wireless. Anyways, I got far enough to get DHCP to work on just ONE adapter when I used Internet Connection Sharing (I couldn't get RRAS set up for the life of me), then I decided to try bridging the wireless and second NIC. Now, the DHCP server won't bind to the bridge, but I can enter manual IP's in my clients and it'll connect to the Internet. I also tried changing my wireless adapter's IP to 192.168.0.2, and to 192.168.1.1 to try to set up a separate scope, but to no avail. Running Windows Server 2003

  • Excel 2003 opening files on network

    The network is laid out with an XP Pro computer as the server hosting files, then 3 XP computers connecting to it for filesharing, all on it's own router. One computer can open .xls files no problem, and she runs Office XP. The other two computers run Office 2003, and cannot open any shared files by double-clicking them, or by selecting File-Open in Excel. If the file gets copied to the local computer, it opens instantly. I have tried disabling the AV on all computers, disabling the Windows firewall, and doublechecking permissions on the server. I have also tried disabling DDE, but that doesn't help at all, just like Tools-Options-unticking Ignore other applications. Any ideas? This apparently started a couple days ago

  • I Can't Get Ruby on Rails + Passenger + Apache to Work

    I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I can't get Ruby on Rails to work on my Apache server. I'm using Phusion Passenger (mod_rails, mod_rack) for app deployment. Here is my RoR-specific configuration code in my website's Apache configuration file: Alias /rails /var/www/syyborg.com/ruby/blog/public <Directory /var/www/syyborg.com/ruby/blog/public Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Order Allow,Deny Allow from All </Directory RailsBaseURI /rails Again, I really have very little knowledge of this kind of thing; I have never set up a server from scratch before. Anyways, my rails app, as you can see, is located at /var/www/syyborg.com/ruby/blog/. I am trying to access it from http://[my domain, syyborg.com]/rails. However, when I try to load the site, I get a "403 Forbidden" error. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I can provide further details if they are required. Thanks in advance!
