  I can't get my query string to work..please help... I have the following url: http://betatest.bracknell-forest.gov.uk/help?fb_action_ids=372043216205703&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=aggregation&fb_aggregation_id=288381481237582 (sorry but the page will be unavailable as it is a test internal domain link) I want the following url: http://betatest.bracknell-forest.gov.uk/help I get a browser message saying 'The system cannot find the file specified.' I know it is because I already have a mod rewrite to remove the .htm from the page name to return clean urls but I don't know what I need to do to accept a clean url and return the page.   I can only find mod rewrite examples/tutorials for query's, so can someone help me with this. I would like this http://website.tld/Folder1/Folder2/Folder3/Folder4/Folder5/File.exten to be transformed into http://website.tld/Folder4/File.exten Folder4 and Folder5 are multiple directories, while Folder 1-3 stay the same. Also File.exten also should be changeable in the rewrite. thanks.

  Hey, I'm trying to mod rewrite the image locations on my site, I'm just using this : rewriteRule ^thumbs/(.*)$ http://site2.com/images/$1 [L] so that I can redirect all image requests going from http://site1.com/thumbs/something to http://site2.com/thumbs/something But only some of the images are loading, and not all of them.   I'm getting this warning from Apache: The Alias directive in /etc/httpd/conf.d/foo.conf at line 10 will probably never match because it overlaps an earlier Alias. However the Alias overlaps on a completely different virtual host. Might this be caused because one alias is on a name-based virtual host while the other alias is on an IP-based virtual host? Everything is working fine, just the warning is a bit annoying...

Is it possible to get Apache to automatically replace the domain of this other website for localhost? On Linux, however, I run into the following issue: if no files have been deleted from the repository, the git ls-files -d | xargs -0 git rm --ignore-unmatch command will fail (xargs will be passed nothing). Is there a way to have xargs silently move on if it receives nothing from git ls-files?

I have tried to alias them all the same 'name' but Oracle numbered it. Please help :)

Now the killer: if I try to password protect /path/to/subdomain/files/, then trying to access http://example.com/mydir will again attempt to deliver from under the main hosted files and not from /path/to/subdomain/files/ I am not seeing any errors reported on the .htaccess file in the apache error log, so I am assuming the .htaccess is valid: AuthUserFile /path/to/valid/readable/.htpasswd AuthName "Secure Access" AuthType Basic Require valid-user This kind of behaviour does not seem right to me. Is there something obvious that could be causing it? Or is this just the way it works? Perhaps using an alias is the wrong way to go?

• Rewriting a Subdomain with mod-rewrite

  I have a project that uses the moodle library. I had to change the URL from moodle.example.com to learn.example.com, due to a client request. I thought this would be an easy change, but alas moodle inserts all links and images in with the complete url instead of the relative url. Is it possible using mod-rewrite to point all requests to moodle.example.com to learn.example.com and maintain the query string? Example: I want a request to: http://moodle.example.com/course/view.php?id=2&topic=1 to go to http://learn.example.com/course/view.php?id=2&topic=1. Is this possible? Thanks, Josh

• Mod-Rewrite rules are breaking 404 routing

  I am using the following mod-rewrite in my .htaccess file: RewriteRule ^$ pages/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ pages/$1 [L] The intention is to hide the subdirectory called /pages/ from displaying in the URL. So this: http://mysite.com/pages/home.html Will look like this: http://mysite.com/home.html It works but there are some unintended consequences. As a direct result of the .htaccess code I posted above, my 404 routing is no longer working at all. Anything that should trigger a 404 error page is instead generating a 500 Server Error. How to fix?

We can assure that C is a number that is part of the N-primes or not. Whichever will work best.   Is it possible do do something like this with mod-rewrite? Current url: www.example.com/Departments/dynamicPage.php?DeptID=10&DeptName=HR to set up a rewrite so: www.example.com/hr could redirect to the above (with the arguments)? I know I could create an "hr" folder on the root level and put in an html page with a meta refresh, but I hate the extra clutter. I don't think a .htaccess 301 is possible, but please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm looking for an elegant solution that can be added to for future instances.

  I've been working on various antispam measure in a phpBB3-based forum I host. Now I was thinking of an extension/mod that ties in with editing of posts (and later perhaps signatures/profiles) in that new text or edited text defaults to something like "not patrolled" and moderators could then in a special queue review text that contains links or similar item (based on heuristics). Now the question: does such a mod exist (I didn't find one)? If it does exist and anyone has used it (or them), please include your experiences with it in the answer.

  Ive been Editing lots of videos lately. My company got a video camera: Canon Legria FS200. It saves the movies in a digital format as MOD files. Unfortunately, Adobe Premiere doesnt work with these files. I needed software to convert MOD files to QuickTime or mpeg files. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. Everything I try fails. Does anyone have a good example of how to do this?
