  • Weblogic domain scale up using EM Grid Control 11gR1

    - by dmitry.nefedkin(at)oracle.com
    As you know a weblogic domain consists of set of servers running independently or in a cluster mode, sharing the distributed resources. And in most environments weblogic  cluster consists of multiple managed servers running simultaneously and working together to provide increased scalability and reliability.  These servers can run on the same machine, or be located on different machines.  It's a common task to increase a cluster's capacity by adding new machines to the cluster to host the new server instances.  You can do it by manually installing weblogic binaries to the new host and use pack/unpack commands to add a managed server to this new host.  But with Enterprise Manager Grid Control 11gR1 (EMGC) there is  another way - Fusion Middleware Domain Scale Up  procedure. I'm going to show you how it works.Here is a picture of  my medrec_oradb weblogic domain, what is registered in EMGC. It contains an admin server and a cluster MedRecCluster with  the single managed server MS1. Both admin and managed servers are on the same host oel46-vmware, it's a virtual machine with OEL 4.6 that runs inside our Oracle VM infrastructure.  And here are the application deployments, note that couple of applications are deployed to the cluster.First of all I have to prepare a new machine that will host new managed sever of my cluster. I created new VM with OEL 5.4 using the corresponding Oracle VM template available in Oracle E-Delivery site for Oracle Linux and Oracle VM and named it wls1032. Next step is to install Oracle EM Grid Control 11gR1 Agent to this new host.  You can download it from the OTN page and install it manually,  or you can use Agent Installation Deployment procedure available in EMGC  (Deployments->Agent Installation->Install Agent). Anyway, when you agent is up and running on the new machine, you will see it in EMGC Console in the Targets->Hosts subtab.Now we are ready to scale up our weblogic domain. Click the Deployments tab in Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control, and then click Deployment Procedure. Select a Fusion Middleware Domain Scale Up procedure from the list, and click Schedule Deployment. The first page of the FMW Domain Scale Up Wizard is displayed and you can proceed with the deployment process.Select the domain from list, enter the working directory on the admin server host, and also fill the weblogic credentials for the administration server console and the OS credentials for the  admin server host.  Click Next button.  The next step allows you to configure you domain, to add a new manager server to the cluster you should select the cluster in the tree and click Add Server button. Select the newly added server in a tree, choose the target host and  enter the configuration details of your managed server. You can also add new machine and node manager details.  Please note that you cannot change the values in  Domain Location and Fusion Middleware Home fields, so these locations on the target host will be the same as for the admin server host.   Working directory on the target host should have enough free space to store FMW home binaries and domain configuration files.  In my experience the working directories should have at least 3 Gb of free space.  The last thing you should fill is the OS credentials for the target host. The next steps allows you to schedule the execution of the procedure, it is started immediately in my example. The last step is just a review the configuration for the domain scale up. Click Submit to launch the process. You can track the status of the procedure execution by selecting Deployments->Deployment Procedures->Procedure Completion Status in the EMGC Console.As you can see in the picture below, the procedure consists of the many steps, and I'm going to share my experience about the issues that I had at some of the steps. Please keep in mind that you can always continue the execution from the last successfully completed step by clicking Retry button.Check OUI Prerequisites  step may fail if the target host does  not pass prerequisites checks for Weblogic Server installation such as amount of RAM, linux packages installed, etc. Create FMW Clone Archive step may fail if you do not have enough free space in the working directory on the administration server host.Transfer cloning archive to targets  step  may fail if the EMGC agents on the admin server host or on target host are not secured.   You should secure the agent by issuing ./emctl secure agent  command from $AGENT_HOME/bin directory and entering the agent registration password.Both Transfer cloning archive to targets and Apply Clone at target hosts steps may fail if you do not have enough free space in the working directory on the target host. The most complicated issue I had on the Run Inventory Collection  step. The step failed and I noticed that the agent on the target server is also failed with the following error in the $AGENT_HOME/sysman/log/emagent.trc  log file:2010-12-28 11:50:34,310 Thread-2838952848 ERROR upload: Failed to upload file A0000008.xml: Fatal Error.Response received: 500|ORA-20603: The timezone of the multiagent target (/Farm_Localhost_MedRec_medrec_oradb/medrec_oradb,weblogic_domain)is not consistent with the timezone (America/Los_Angeles) reported by other agents.2010-12-28 11:50:34,310 Thread-2838952848 ERROR upload: 1 Failure(s) in a row or XML error for A0000008.xml, retcode = -6, we give up2010-12-28 11:50:35,552 Thread-2838952848 WARN  upload: FxferSend: received fatal error in header from repository: https://oel46-vmware:1159/em/uploadFATAL_ERROR::500|ORA-20603: The timezone of the multiagent target (/Farm_Localhost_MedRec_medrec_oradb/medrec_oradb,weblogic_domain)is not consistent with the timezone (America/Los_Angeles) reported by other agents.2010-12-28 11:50:35,552 Thread-2838952848 ERROR upload: number of fatal error exceeds the limit 32010-12-28 11:50:35,552 Thread-2838952848 ERROR upload: agent will shutdown now2010-12-28 11:50:35,552 Thread-2838952848 ERROR : Signalled to Exit with status 55. • Create chart using dynamic interactive ranges to select the series in Excel 2007

    - by jhc
    I would like to create a non-VBA based solution to the following question: How do I create a multi-series chart that will allow a user to select from a dropdown to change the data being graphed? I can do this already when the data series is contiguous; however, I'd like to be able to do it for non-contiguous data. Is this possible? My data look something like this: ID Salary Sal Min Sal Mid Sal Max Division Job Grade Job Subgrade Job XXX 10000 5000 15000 25000 North 13 1 Programmer XXX 12000 5000 15000 25000 North 13 1 Programmer XXX 14000 5000 15000 25000 South 13 1 Analyst XXX 11000 5000 15000 25000 South 13 1 Analyst XXX 20000 5000 15000 25000 North 14 1 Super Programmer XXX 25000 5000 15000 25000 North 14 1 Super Programmer XXX 22000 5000 15000 25000 North 14 1 Manager XXX 17000 5000 15000 25000 South 14 1 Manager XXX 19000 5000 15000 25000 South 14 1 Manager I would like to display Salary, Sal Min, Sal Mid, and Sal Max using a line graph. I would like the user to be able to select Job Grade, Division, and/or Job to determine what is charted. Is this possible? Would I somehow be able to do this if I used a pivottable or converted my data into a datatable? Thanks.

  • Objective C - Constants with behaviour

    - by Akshay
    Hi, I'm new to Objective C. I am trying to define Constants which have behavior associated with them. So far I have done - @interface Direction : NSObject { NSString *displayName; } -(id)initWithDisplayName:(NSString *)aName; -(id)left; // returns West when North -(id)right; // return East when North @end @implementation Direction -(id)initWithDisplayName:(NSString *)aName { if(self = [super init]) { displayName = aName; } return self; } -(id)left {}; -(id)right {}; @end Direction* North = [Direction initWithDisplayName:@"North"]; // error - initializer element is not constant. This approach results in the indicated error. Is there a better way of doing this in Objective C.

  • Android: Find coordinates of a certain point X meters from my location moving towards the point I am

    - by Aidan
    Hi Guys, I'm constructing a geolocation based application and I'm trying to figure out a way to make my application realise when a user is facing the direction of the given location (a particular long / lat co-ord). I've done some Googling and checked the SDK but can't really find anything for such a thing. Does anyone know of a way? Example. Point A = Phones current location. Point B = A's orientation in relation to true north + 45 + max distance towards the direction your facing, Point C = A's orientation in relation to true north - 45 + max distance towards the direction your facing. So now you have a triangle constructed. pretty schweet huh? yeah.. I think so.. So now that I have my fancy Triangle I use something called Barycentric Coordinates ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barycentric_coordinates_(mathematics) ). This will allow me to test another point and see if it is in the triangle. If it is, it means we're facing it AND it's within the right distance. So it should be displayed on screen. If I'm facing 90 degrees from true north. The distance it travels should be that direction. 90 degrees from true north. It should not be 100 degrees or something from true north! But the problem is I haven't yet figured out how I make the device realise it must go "out" the direction it is facing.

  • php Checking if value exists in array of array

    - by Mark
    I have an array within an array. $a = array ( 0 => array ( 'value' => 'America', ), 1 => array ( 'value' => 'England', ), ) How do I check if 'America' exists in the array? The America array could be any key, and there could be any number of subarrays, so a generalized solution please. Looking on the php manual I see in_array, but that only works for the top layer. so something like in_array("America", $a) would not work. Thanks.

  • Can one config LDAP to accept auth from ssh-agent instead of from Kerberos?

    - by Alex North-Keys
    [This question is not about getting your LDAP password to authenticate you for SSH logins. We have that working just fine, thank you :-) ] Let's suppose you're on a Linux network (Ubuntu 11.10, slapd 2.4.23), and you need to write a set of utilities that will use ldapmodify, ldapadd, ldapdelete, and so on. You don't have Kerberos, and don't want to deal with its timeouts (most users don't know how to get around this), quirks, etc. This resolves the question to one of where else to get credentials to feed to LDAP, probably through GSSAPI - which technically doesn't require Kerberos despite its dominance there - or something like it. However, nearly everyone seems to have an SSH agent program, complete with its key cache. I'd really like an ssh-add to be sufficient to allow passwordless LDAP command use. Does anyone know of a project working on using the SSH agent as the source of authentication to LDAP? It might be through an ssh-aware GSSAPI layer, or some other trick I haven't thought of. But it would be wonderful for making LDAP effortless. Assuming I haven't just utterly missed a way to use ldapmodify and kin without having to type my LDAP passwords - using -x is NOT acceptable. At my site, the LDAP server only accepts ldaps connections, and requires authentication for modifying operations. Those are requirements, of course. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. :-)

  • This Isn’t Hard: Allow Spouses to Attend Conferences

    - by andyleonard
    There was a bit of a hubbub at Tech Ed 2013 North America . It began with generalized disorganization, escalated when site security escorted Greg Young’s ( blog | @gregyoung ) wife from the building, and ended with him cancelling his presentations at both the North American and European conferences. Greg’s post has generated some responses, but – according to him – nothing from Microsoft. That’s disappointing. Greg and his wife deserve an apology. Why Not? The best conferences I’ve attended (I’m...(read more)

  • Is it a good practice to code in English? [closed]

    - by Milox
    Possible Duplicate: Do people in non-English-speaking countries code in English? I have a development comming that is intended to be sold across Latin America (Spanish speakers), but I've heard from some partners that is a good practice to always code in English, I mean just code (methods, classes, pages names, etc), labels on GUI are going to be all in Spanish... Code will be edited in the future by developer of companies across Latin America and just maybe some from outside. What do you think?, any experience with this?

  • ASA hairpining: I basicaly want to allow 2 spokes to be able to communicate with each other.

    - by Thirst4Knowledge
    ASA Spoke to Spoke Communication I have been looking at spke to spoke comms or "hairpining" for months and have posted on numerouse forums but to no avail. I have a Hub and spoke network where the HUB is an ASA Firewall version 8.2 * I basicaly want to allow 2 spokes to be able to communicate with each other. I think that I have got the concept of the ASA Config for example: same-security-traffic permit intra-interface access-list HQ-LAN extended permit ip ASA-LAN 255.255.248.0 HQ-LAN 255.255.255.0 access-list HQ-LAN extended permit ip 192.168.99.0 255.255.255.0 HQ-LAN 255.255.255.0 access-list no-nat extended permit ip ASA_LAN 255.255.248.0 HQ-LAN 255.255.255.0 access-list no-nat extended permit ip HQ-LAN 255.255.255.0 192.168.99.0 255.255.255.0 access-list no-nat extended permit ip 192.168.99.0 255.255.255.0 HQ-LAN 255.255.255.0 I think my problem may be that the other spokes are not CIsco Firewalls and I need to work out how to do the alternative setups. I want to at least make sure that my firewall etup is correct then I can move onto the other spokes here is my config: Hostname ASA domain-name mydomain.com names ! interface Ethernet0/0 speed 100 • Subaru CIO wins SIM Leadership Award

    - by tony.berk
    Congratulations to Brian Simmermon, CIO at Subaru of America, Inc., for winning the Society for Information Management's (SIM) fifth annual SIM Leadership Award. Simmermon joined Subaru of America in 2005 as Chief Information Officer. Simmermon then performed a company-wide technology assessment and determined that the business ran a large collection of applications, many of which duplicated functionality. Establishing the mantra, "Simplicity, Flexibility, and Cost Effectiveness", he reduced the total number of applications, moved to a small core set of systems - including Oracle and Siebel. Tom Doll, COO for Subaru of America said, "We are very pleased Brian has been recognized. He has consistently shown vision and leadership and under his leadership, our technology group's innovations have helped our sales to grow to record levels, regardless of the economic circumstances." Simmermon's technology group's aggressive business deliverables have helped Subaru to become one of the most successful brands in the US with the brand reaching record sales in both 2009 and 2010. • Korea&rsquo;s Anti Abortion / Pro Life Movement

    - by Randy Walker
    The South Korean government is in dire straits.  The national birth rate continues to decline and as the population grows older, there aren’t enough children being born to support the country long term.  The social issues of post Korean War are coming back to haunt the empowered nation.  Being torn apart by the Korean War (nicknamed the forgotten war in America) and with a nation facing starvation, South Korea allowed hundreds of thousands of their children to be adopted abroad.  This has created a problem of epidemic proportions, essentially devaluing life in Korea and child rearing. In an effort to encourage birth rates, the government encouraged their workers to go home early and procreate by turning off the lights in buildings.  Something unknown to me, was the illegalization of abortion except in special cases. According to the this article, http://joongangdaily.joins.com it’s working.  Abortions are down and women are being encouraged to give birth.  However the flip side is illegal risky abortions are on the rise, with potential back alley abortions looming.  But with a nation facing it’s potential implosion, it has to continue it’s efforts to encourage mothers to give birth. Many of the issues that America has faced is in stark contrast to South Korea.  Abortion has been a generally accepted procedure for some time.  If you’ll recall, I mentioned South Korea devalued their children.  But the nation’s problems lie so much deeper.  Being an Asian nation, saving “face” is an important aspect of life.  And being an unwed mother disgraces the family.  Living as a single mother in South Korea is a difficult life.  Most married mothers stay at home to take care of the children.  Being a shunned single mother that has a hard time getting a job (because you are a single mother) and affording child care isn’t like life in America. If we in the states suddenly faced a birthrate crisis, what would the U.S. government do?

    Hello, I'm new to java and I have to get a school project done by Sunday and got a problem. Here's the code: private abstract class GamePanel { JPanel panel = null; } private class PutPanel extends GamePanel { JButton putShip1 = new JButton(""); JButton putShip2 = new JButton(""); JButton putShip3 = new JButton(""); JButton putShip4 = new JButton(""); ShipDirection ship1Direction = ShipDirection.NORTH; ShipDirection ship2Direction = ShipDirection.NORTH; ShipDirection ship3Direction = ShipDirection.NORTH; ShipDirection ship4Direction = ShipDirection.NORTH; JButton startButton = new JButton("Start game"); public PutPanel(){ this.panel = new JPanel(); panel.setSize(200, Torpedo.session.map.size*Field.buttonSize+300); panel.setBackground(Color.blue); putShip1.setSize(90, 90); putShip1.setLocation(55, 5); putShip1.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship1/full_north.png", null)); putShip2.setSize(90, 90); putShip2.setLocation(55, 105); putShip2.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship2/full_north.png", null)); putShip3.setSize(90, 90); putShip3.setLocation(55, 205); putShip3.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship3/full_north.png", null)); putShip4.setSize(90, 90); putShip4.setLocation(55, 305); putShip4.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship4/full_north.png", null)); startButton.setSize(150, 30); startButton.setLocation(20, Torpedo.session.map.size*Field.buttonSize+205); panel.add(putShip1); panel.add(putShip2); panel.add(putShip3); panel.add(putShip4); panel.add(startButton); startButton.addActionListener(startButton()); startButton.addActionListener(putShip1()); startButton.addActionListener(putShip2()); startButton.addActionListener(putShip3()); startButton.addActionListener(putShip4()); panel.setLayout(null); panel.setVisible(true); } private ActionListener startButton(){ return new ActionListener(){ public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { putPanel.panel.setVisible(false); actionPanel.panel.setVisible(true); } }; } private ActionListener putShip1(){ return new ActionListener(){ public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { selectedShip = 1; putShip1.setBackground(Color.red); putShip2.setBackground(null); putShip3.setBackground(null); putShip4.setBackground(null); switch(ship1Direction){ case NORTH: ship1Direction = ShipDirection.EAST; putShip1.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship1/full_east.png", null)); break; case EAST: ship1Direction = ShipDirection.SOUTH; putShip1.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship1/full_south.png", null)); break; case SOUTH: ship1Direction = ShipDirection.WEST; putShip1.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship1/full_west.png", null)); break; case WEST: ship1Direction = ShipDirection.NORTH; putShip1.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship1/full_north.png", null)); break; } putShip1.repaint(); putShip2.repaint(); putShip3.repaint(); putShip4.repaint(); panel.repaint(); JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(new JFrame(), "Repaint finished", "Repaint status info", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE); //this here hangs the program when the method is finally called } }; When one of the putShip* buttons is clicked, it should rotate its own icon right 90° (means changing it to the next image), but it does nothing until the startButton is clicked, which changes the panel to an other one. (Only the first button's actionListener is here, the others' are practically the same). The panel is in a JFrame with two other panels that yet do nothing. How could I make it work properly? Thank you.

  • VBScript - copy files modified in last 24 hours

    - by Martin North
    Hi, I'm trying to copy files from a directory where the last modified date is within 24hours of the current date. I'm using a wildcard in the filepath as it changes every day I'm using; option explicit dim fileSystem, folder, file dim path path = "d:\x\logs" Set fileSystem = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set folder = fileSystem.GetFolder(path) for each file in folder.Files If DateDiff("d", file.DateLastModified, Now) < 1 Then filesystem.CopyFile "d:\x\logs\apache_access_log-*", "d:\completed logs\" WScript.Echo file.Name & " last modified at " & file.DateLastModified end if next Unfortunately this seems to be copying all files, and not just the recently modified ones. Can anyone point me in the right direction? many thanks Martin.

    - by Sir Psycho
    Can anyone explain why the original address XElement street node changes? It looks like customer1 holds a reference to the address XElement but customer2 and customer3 have taken copies. Why did the original address change? (LINQPad example) var address = new XElement ("address", new XElement ("street", "Lawley St"), new XElement ("town", "North Beach") ); var customer1 = new XElement ("customer1", address); var customer2 = new XElement ("customer2", address); var customer3 = new XElement ("customer3", address); customer1.Element ("address").Element ("street").Value = "Another St"; Console.WriteLine (customer2.Element ("address").Element ("street").Value); Console.WriteLine (); address.Dump(); Console.WriteLine (); customer1.Dump(); Console.WriteLine (); customer2.Dump(); Console.WriteLine (); customer3.Dump(); OUTPUT Lawley St <address> <street>Another St</street> <town>North Beach</town> </address> <customer1> <address> <street>Another St</street> <town>North Beach</town> </address> </customer1> <customer2> <address> <street>Lawley St</street> <town>North Beach</town> </address> </customer2> <customer3> <address> <street>Lawley St</street> <town>North Beach</town> </address> </customer3>

  • Using jQuery or javascript to render json into multi-column table

    - by Scott Yu - UX designer
    I am trying to render a JSON into a HTML table. But the difficulty is making it so it loops through JSON and renders multiple columns if necessary. For the example below, what I want is this: Result wanted Result Wanted <table> <tr><th>AppName</th><td>App 1</td><td>App 2</td></tr> <tr><th>Last Modified</th><td>10/1/2012</td><td></td></tr> <tr><th>App Logo</th><td>10/1/2012</td><td></td></tr> blahblah </table> <table> <tr><th>AppName</th><td>App 1</td></tr> blahblah </table> JSON Example "Records": [ { "AppName": "App 1", "LastModified": "10/1/2012, 9:30AM", "ShipTo_Name": "Dan North", "ShipTo_Address": "Dan North", "ShipTo_Terms": "Dan North", "ShipTo_DueDate": "Dan North", "Items 1": [ { "Item_Name": "Repairs", "Item_Description": "Repair Work" } ] }, { "AppName": "App 2", "AppLogo": "http://www.google.com/logo.png", "LastModified": "10/1/2012, 9:30AM", "BillTo_Name": "Steve North", "Items 1": [ { "Item_Name": "Repairs", "Item_Description": "Repair Work" } ] } ], "Records": [ { "AppName": "App 1", "LastModified": "10/1/2012, 9:30AM", "ShipTo_Name": "222", "ShipTo_Address": "333 ", "ShipTo_Terms": "444", "ShipTo_DueDate": "5555", "Items 1": [ { "Item_Name": "Repairs", "Item_Description": "Repair Work" } ] } ], Code I am using now function CreateComparisonTable (arr,level,k) { var dumped_text = ""; if(!level) level = 0; //The padding given at the beginning of the line. var level_padding = ""; for(var j=0;j<level+1;j++) level_padding = "--"; if(typeof(arr) == 'object') { //Array/Hashes/Objects for (var item in arr) { var value = arr[item]; if (typeof(value) == 'object') { //If it is an array, if(item !=0) { dumped_text += '<tr><td>' + item + '<br>'; dumped_text += CreateComparisonTable(value,level+1); dumped_text += '</td></tr>'; } else { dumped_text += CreateComparisonTable(value,level, value.length); } } else { dumped_text += '<tr><td>' + level_padding + item + '</td><td>' + value + '</td></tr>'; } } } return dumped_text; } Jsfiddle here
