• Looking for old version of JBuilder

• Where can I get resources for developing for Mac OS Classic?

  I recently got bored and fired up my old Mac OS Classic emulator, and then got nostalgic for writing old-school applications for the system. So, my question: Where can I get dev tools that can still target Classic? (Ideally free, since this is just for fun, but if grabbing a used version of CodeWarrior on eBay is the best way to go, so be it.) Where can I get at least reference materials so I don't have to guess-and-check my way around Carbon/the System Toolbox? Are there any forums still running that would be open to answering old-school Mac questions for when I get stuck? This is purely for fun, so don't worry about how impractical this is. I know.

• Old (Leopard) Expose on Snow Leopard (for mac)

  I'm amazed this question haven't been asked here. There are many discussions about it out there and even a way to remove the blue glow. Of course I've already filled my complain with apple... But, is there a way to have the old expose on Snow Leopard? Or maybe a mix of both. The only thing I like on the new one is viewing minimized windows, but not always. So I'd like better been able to tweak it a little bit, but just having the old expose would be fine.

• Linux Live CD for old computer

  I have a pentium II (that's right, pentium II) with a scant 200MB of ram. This was a high-end workstation in it's day. The machine currently runs dos on a raid array, and I need to pull some data from it. I figure my best chance at this is to use a linux live cd to copy the data to one of our active directory network shares (there is a network card in the machine). Unfortunately, my linux skills are abysmal, so I'm not sure where to get started: Where should I look to find a linux cd that will run well on such an old system Since I'm likely gonna need to be command-line only, what do I need to do to configure the network card and mount the network share via the command line? Bonus points: exact syntax needed to copy and convert the entire volume for use in VMware server 2.0, but really just copying all the data should be enough.

• Re-installing Windows on an old laptop

  I have an old laptop and I want to re-install Windows XP on it. The problem is that this laptop does not have an optical drive. I checked the boot sequence in the BIOS. It does not show an option to boot from USB. It have only two options: Boot from HD. Boot using Realtek agent (network boot). I tried to copy the Windows CD to second drive D:\ and run the installed from there. However, I could not format the C:\ drive. Windows complaints about setup files will be removed or something like that. I tried to boot the laptop using PXE, but I could not. It seems that the DHCP request did not get answered. I thought I could use a USB CD-ROM drive (I don't have one to try), but it might not work as there is no option to boot from USB. Do you think it will work? Do I have other options to try? Any recommendations?

  The sync that Google offers for Google Contacts < Mac OS X Address Book is seriously flawed. It doesn't sync automatically, it doesn't sync all contacts, it doesn't sync all fields. See here for a list of warnings and issues. Is there a better way to sync Google Contacts to Mac Address Book bidirectionally? Preferably free, and preferably without adding extra software. I have tried to do it through Plaxo (which has an excellent Mac Address Book sync, albeit through an extra software install), but Plaxo doesn't handle Google Sync well (no updates). UPDATE: For the new Mac OS X Snow Leopard this shouldn't be an issue. This question is looking for a Leopard answer.

  I have recently got a Mac mini to do IPhone Dev on (like many others) and I am using the excellent Synergy to share one keyboard and mouse with 2 machines and 2 monitors. Everything is lovely and it works a treat. I got used to using the mac, and the alt key works like command button on the mac however one thing I cant figure out is the End key. I use this a lot on windows when wanting to jump to the end of a line of text, however if I press it over synergy on my mac it jumps to the end of the page. Anyone know the key combination I need to get what I want?

• Aventail VPN connect on Mac OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard

  Hello, I am running Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.2). Recently, my company switched (for whatever odd reason) from Cisco VPN (that used to work fine) to Aventail VPN. I proceeded to install the Aventail VPN client on both the mac and a Windows 7 machine, both on my home network. When I try to connect one or the other (I make sure one is disconnected before connecting through the other machine), I get a connection and view the correct certificate - accept it and Aventail tells me that I am connected. However, accessing any page inside my company's network is only possible on Windows. On the Mac I get the following page: http://grab.by/2WOA It looks like my ISP doesn't know how to redirect me? Maybe something about my DNS being set incorrectly on the Mac? Our helpdesk has been completely useless and I was hoping fellow super users can help. Thanks.

• Symantec site slow only when using a Mac?

  I didn't know this was possible but it certainly seems slow when only using a Mac. I participate in the Symantec Connect forums regularly and when I get on it with my Windows PC or laptop it loads perfectly, but my Mac laptop the site rarely loads or if it does it takes a couple minutes for each page. My question is why does a website run slower on the Mac vs PC? No other sites experience this same issue just the symantec connect forums. Thanks, Grant

• Stream internal sound from mac to pc?

  I'm using a headphone connected to a PC, however, I also use a mac. I want to make it so that the internal sound, coming from the mac will also be heard over at the pc. So I want to convert the headphone to a somewhat central sound output where I hear both pc and mac's internal sounds. I am connecting the two directly with a piece of network cable (Its not crossover, but I am told the Mini can handle this). The Ubuntu box has Samba installed(I think), but no internet connection. • Mac Mini's internet very slow, every other device fine (PC, iPhone, Xbox 360)

  I recently haven't used my Mac Mini for about 5 days (however it was left on). I seem to be able to connect and get great download / upload speeds through my PC, Xbox 360, iPhone and parents' laptop. However, my Mac Mini is very slow. OS X's Mail.app is downloading mail at 0.4kbps and then dropping to 0. Skype file transfers are doing the same. Browsing the net is a terrible experience. It is taking 30 seconds or more to download basic pages. All of my devices connect wirelessly to a Netgear router / modem. I have tried giving the Mac Mini a manual IP, and renew DHCP lease, as well as flush DNS in Terminal. I have also rebooted the router / modem twice, and the Mac Mini twice. Do you know what could be causing this? Thanks

  Hello! At home we have a wireless router that my family want to use. We have our main computer physically connected to the router, and my laptop is connected wirelessly. When the network is like this then it is faultless. However, when my brother introduces is Apple MAC into the equation, both my laptop and the family machine gets all sorts of problems, primarily long load times and timeouts. The MAC, however, works fine. I think I've read something here or SF about a MAC continusly pinging a router which times it out, but I've not found any solution so far. • Formatted a Bootcamped drive as a dynamic disk, now can't boot to either Mac or Windows

  I was trying to create an extra partition to get a file from the Windows side of my Macbook Air to the Mac side, and I accidentally made the disk dynamic without realizing it. I am now unable to boot to the Mac side (holding Alt to go into the system manager at startup doesn't even list the Mac partition), and the Windows side blue screens during boot (goes so quickly that it doesn't even get to the error code before restarting). What can I do to fix the issue? I don't know how to make a bootable flash drive that a Mac will recognize, and Disk Utility (via Internet Recovery) couldn't do anything.   Hello all, I'll start by saying I'm very new to MAC but comfortable in using the command line thanks to using a linux a lot. I currently have rsync setup to run between a MAC OSX 10.5.8 server to a Linux Centos 5.5 Server. This is the command I'm running on the MAC server: rsync -avhe ssh "/Path/To/Data" [email protected]:data/ As it does it prompts for a password but I need it to save the password. After looking around I need to use: ssh-keygen -t dsa save the passkey and then move it over to the Linux server using: ssh-copy-id -i .ssh/id_dsa.pub [email protected] But ssh-copy-id doesnt seem to exist on the MAC server. How do I copy this key over? I've tried searching for the answer myself but the help seems to be all over the place for this.. Any help is greatly appreciated. Scott

I write a lot of code and I've found these shortcuts to be very helpful.   I am trying to delete a directory stored on a Windows 2008 R2 server, mounted on a Mac as network home (10.8.5). The directory was created by Safari and stores temporary internet files. I need to be able to delete this folder on logout from a Mac bash script. • Java run time environment mac

  I am trying to install an application on a MAC 10.6.4, however i get an installation error that no java runtime environment. However on the java website, the mac section indicates that MAC provides its own java and should use the software update software to get the latest java application.
