  • HDD dead forever???

    Yesterday I turned on my computer and it couldn't boot. I found out the hd (320GB SATA Seagate Momentus 7200.3 for notebook) was broken, it couldn't be recognized by the BIOS. I have another of the same hd, so I exchanged the boards. I found out that there is a problem on its board since my good hd didn't work. But the broken hd doesn't work with the good board as well: it can be recognized but when I insert a Windows Instalation DVD it says the hd is 0GB. I put it in a case and use it in another computer via USB, and but it doesn't show up in the "My Computer". I used a software to recover files called "GetDataBack for NTFS", it recognized the hd but with the wrong size (2TB). I try to make it read the hd but it get an I/O error reading sector. It tries to read, the hd spins... So, since I'm using a good board on it, the problem seems to be internal. Is there anything someone could do recover the files from it?

  • [mac] Running an Automator task at night

    I've just created an Automator workflow and I'm using crontab to execute it at night. The problem is that, after a while, the machine is going to sleep and a password is required (this is the intended behaviour). Unfortunately, Automator seems to be unable to perform the task when the password is required. It works like a charm if the "password required" dialog is not displayed (before the sleep). Any suggestion on how to solve this?

  • Multiple "setups" on windows 7

    I would like to create multiple setups on Windows, that is, when I'm working with my computer I have some programs opened, after that I would like to change the setup/user to the "gaming setup" where the previous setup would hibernate and the computer would have all the resources free for me to play. I could have opened multiple tabs on firefox on each setup and they would be there when I come back. I understand that windows' switch user would make the programs run when I'm with the other user and that's not what I want. So, is that possible?

    Hi all, i think i read every single web page relating to this problem but i still cannot find a solution to it, so here i am. I have an HTML web page wich is not under my control and i need to parse it from my iPhone application. Here it is a sample of the web page i'm talking about: <HTML> <HEAD> <META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"> </HEAD> <BODY> <LI class="bye bye" rel="hello 1"> <H5 class="onlytext"> <A name="morning_part">morning</A> </H5> <DIV class="mydiv"> <SPAN class="myclass">something about you</SPAN> <SPAN class="anotherclass"> <A href="http://www.google.it">Bye Bye &egrave; un saluto</A> </SPAN> </DIV> </LI> </BODY> </HTML> I'm using NSXMLParser and it is going well till it find the è html entity. It calls foundCharacters: for "Bye Bye" and then it calls resolveExternalEntityName:systemID:: with an entityName of "egrave". In this method i'm just returning the character "è" trasformed in an NSData, the foundCharacters is called again adding the string "è" to the previous one "Bye Bye " and then the parser raise the NSXMLParserUndeclaredEntityError error. I have no DTD and i cannot change the html file i'm parsing. Do you have any ideas on this problem? Thanks in advance to all of you, Rob. Update (12/03/2010).   • Fluent NHibernate OptimisticLock.None() causes "The string 'none' is not a valid Boolean value."

    I'm using the following mapping: public class LoadMap : IAutoMappingOverride<Load> { public void Override(AutoMapping<Load> mapping) { mapping.HasMany(x => x.Bids).OptimisticLock.None(); mapping.Version(x => x.Version); } } But when I try to create the session I get the following exception: [FormatException: The string 'none' is not a valid Boolean value.] [XmlSchemaValidationException: The 'optimistic-lock' attribute is invalid - The value 'none' is invalid according to its datatype 'http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema:boolean' - The string 'none' is not a valid Boolean value.] I'm using NHibernate 2.1.2.4000 and I was using Fluent NHibernate 1.0RTM, but tried the latest build 636 just to be sure this isn't something that was fixed recently or something. As a side note, in case I'm doing this all wrong, I would like to be able to make changes to the .Bids list without incrementing Version. I saw an example on Ayende's blog that did what I wanted with properties.

  • Callbacks in Thrift Asynchronous Functions?

    Hi all, In Thrift it is possible to use the oneway modifier to specify a call as asynchronous. Apparently, it's not possible to define a callback, though, to be executed when the execution of the function is completed. It seems that the only possibility I have is to give my Thrift client (PHP) some "server" capabilities, so that, when the heavy computation is completed on the server side, I can send a notification to it. This means that I should have a new .thrift file, with new definitions, new services and all the rest and that I should generate php-server side code with Thrift. Even if this is feasible, it looks like an overkill to me and I'm wondering if there's a more clever way to implement the callback. Looking forward for some feedback from you, guys.

    I'm using jQuery to POST an Id to my route, for example: http://localhost:1234/Load/Delete with a POST Parameter Id = 1 I'm only using the default route in Global.asax.cs right now: routes.MapRoute( "Default", "{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" } ); When I perform the POST, in my ActionFilter filterContext.RouteData.Values["Id"] is set to the default value of "". Ideally, I'd like it to use the POST Parameter value automatically if the URL comes up with "". I know it is posting properly because I can see the value of "1" in filterContext.HttpContext.Request.Params["Id"]. Is there a way to get RouteData to use a POST parameter as a fall back value?

  • Django Admin drop down combobox and assigned values

    I have several question for the Django Admin feature. Im kind of new in Django so im not sure how to do it. Basically what Im looking to do is when Im adding information on the model. Some of the fields i want them to be drop-downs and maybe combo-boxes with AutoCompleteMode.
