    hey guys When you have an iPad Project, and you want to put a table view in your landscape view... I did this i dragged in a UITableView. but what do you 'hook' the data source to? there are about 3 options that all seem to crahing for me... when not hooked up, app launches fine.     Hey Guys In an effort to 'clean up' my code - I was wondering if this could be made simpler. I have 32 images and I was adding them like this [theCarPics addObject:[UIImage imageNamed:@"1.jpg"]]; [theCarPics addObject:[UIImage imageNamed:@"2.jpg"]]; //...     Hey all, I'm trying to have the following tag toggle between a "-" and the checkmark character (✓) <a id='p_4' class='fancy_button orange bls_button' href='#'>-</a> And here's the jquery code: if (button.text() == '-') { button.html('&#10003'); } This works in FF3.6 and IE8, but not in WebKit (Chrome or iPhone safari).     So here's the confusion, let's say I declare an array of characters char name[3] = "Sam"; and then I declare another array but this time using pointers char * name = "Sam"; What's the difference between the two? I mean they work the same way in a program. Also how does the latter store the size of the stuff that someone puts in it, in this case 3 characters? Also how is it different from char * name = new char[3]; If those three are different where should they be used I mean in what circumstances?

  • Reset Windows Password with Ubuntu Live CD

    A friend brought me his PC with Windows Vista to reset the user password because he didn't use it for a long while and forgot his password. So I found a tutorial on how to reset the password by using a Ubuntu Live CD and the software chntpw. After I installed this software I mounted the SYSTEM partition by opening it with the file explorer. It is now available at /media/SYSTEM/ The tutorial says I have to open the file /windows/system32/config/sam with chntpw and reset the password with chntpw -u USERNAME sam After I did this it didn't show me any errors. So I unmounted the partition and rebooted the PC with the installed Windows Vista. It is still locked with the old password. Did I do any mistakes or is there an other way to reset the password?

  • Should I change the name in the WTFPL?

    I'm using the WTFPL in my personal projects published on GitHub. Currently I'm using it verbatim, but I have the suspicion I shouldn't be leaving Copyright (C) 2004 Sam Hocevar <[email protected]> in there, and instead should use my name. But the license is very confusing about this. Half of the WTFPL is about the WTFPL itself, so I thought that copyright might refer to a copyright on the license text itself, and not on the project this is licensing. Also, it says Everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim or modified copies of this license document, and changing it is allowed as long as the name is changed. So would I have to change the name, from WTFPL to, say, "WTFPL-Domenic"?

  • Destroyed user account on OS X with dscl; how to restore? [migrated]

    I was trying to create a new user on my OS X Lion machine, and somehow managed to destroy my own user's account. Here are the steps I took; hopefully someone here can recognize what I did, and maybe identify some way around this. First, I ran these commands: sudo dscl localhost -create /Local/Default/Users/elasticsearch sudo dscl localhost -create /Local/Default/Users/elasticsearch /bin/bash # mistake! sudo dscl localhost -create /Local/Default/Users/elasticsearch UserShell /bin/bash sudo dscl localhost -create /Local/Default/Users/elasticsearch RealName "Elastic Search" sudo dscl localhost -create /Local/Default/Users/elasticsearch UniqueID 503 # MY uniqueID sudo dscl localhost -create /Local/Default/Users/elasticsearch PrimaryGroupID 1000 sudo dscl localhost -create /Local/Default/Users/elasticsearch NFSHomeDirectory /Local/Users/elasticsearch The big mistake I made here was using "503", which was my user's UniqueID. Immediately my shell username changed to "elasticsearch". I fiddled around, tried to change the current user with sudo su -u sritchie, but this didn't work. On restart, only the "Elastic Search" user was available. I logged into the Lion Recovery partition and reset the root password. After logging in as root and checking on the terminal, I made the remarkable discovery that my home folder was totally empty. I deleted the elasticsearch user, but it made no difference. I don't see anything in Deleted Users either. The odd thing is that when I log in now as myself (sritchie) I can see desktop icons with previews. I can even open a few text files from the Downloads folder if I use the dock alias to Downloads. Could this data be hiding somewhere? Any help would be REALLY appreciated! Thanks, Sam

  • ssh-add insists on passphrase

    I have a new ssh key problem. I have successfully used them for years with Heroku, Git and other servers so I can login without having to issue a passphrase. A few weeks ago, I was unable to push a git repository on my machine to my Heroku and it responded with Permission denied (publickey). Hmm. Everything else but this Heroku function still works. So I ssh-keygen -t rsa -C "newHeroku" with no passphrase (hit return so it would be empty). So I enter: sudo chmod 600 ~/.ssh/newHeroku* Then: ssh-add ~/.ssh/newHeroku.pub Returning return for the passphrase asked it exits without error. The next step is to: ssh-add /Users/sam/.ssh/newHeroku.pub To verify that it's "live" I enter: ssh-add -l To which the output is still The agent has no identities. Okay, to eliminate variables, I repeat the key generation process but entering in a passphrase for a new key. I ssh-add the new key and get the "Enter passphrase" as expected. Now this is why I'm posting here and not on a Heroku blog because ssh-add fails because the passphrase I used keeps getting rejected. It appears, even though I have no problem with my keys elsewhere, that something is wrong with passphrase because even though I get no errors, I get errors when on the one that expects a passphrase. One question, should I expect the Passphrase request for ssh-add when I have not generated a passphrase? It's been suggested that this is a clue and I offer it. Or maybe I have a poor understanding of what ssh-add is doing. Wouldn't be the first time I asked a stupid Q. Also, I'm on Lion and have updated no system updates in the few weeks of this period except application updates.

(It's a little bit annoying to type the PIDs every time and I really would like to learn :) ) Thanks a lot.
