  • Why is the `remove rows` button not always present in MySQL Workbench?

    I'm using MySQL Workbench to remove rows from a table in my database. Most of the time, I will simply write a select statement, then select the rows I want to erase and use the remove rows button (circled in the screenshot below). But sometimes (quite often actually), the remove rows button does not appear. Instead, I get something like the screenshot below: The remove rows button is not there and the remove rows option is grayed out in the context menu, so basically, I can't remove rows... The only way I've found of solving this issue is to run the select query many times until the button appears (it usually does after 3 of 4 times). Does anyone know why this is happening? UPDATE Today, I've been running a select query dozens of times and the button never appears. It seems my incomprehensible workaround no longer works... Help! btw: Using a delete statement does work, though I would rather not have to write one for each row I want to remove as this happens quite frequently during development...

  • Does Windows Home Server support folder redirection?

    Windows provides the ability to redirect specific user folders to server locations, using a group policy extension called Folder Redirection. The Wikipedia article and Microsoft's marketing page for Windows Home Server suggests a tons of great features, but I don't see anything about specifically about Folder Redirection. I currently run a domain controller in the home so that I can push the folder redirection group policy down to all PCs. Windows Home Server looks like a better fit, but I'd hate to give up on the ease of folder redirection to automatically save all documents, music, pictures to the file server. Any thoughts?

  • Why is my wireless so slow compared to my wired download speed?

    I just used speedtest.net (using Firefox) to compare my wired connection speed with my wireless connection speed. With my current contract (with Videotron), I'm supposed to get Download speed: 8Mbps Upload speed: 1Mbps Here are the results of the speedtest.net test: Wired Ping: 14ms Download speed: 8.41Mbps Upload speed: 1.04Mbps Wireless Ping: 16ms Download speed: 0.18Mbps Upload speed: 0.98Mbps The difference in download speeds seems staggering to me since I did the test 1 meter aways from my router. Any clue as to why my wireless download speed is so low compared to my wired download speed? using Ubuntu 11.04 on an Acer Aspire 5536-5519 Oh and it might be worth mentioning that my girlfriend has no trouble at all with her wireless connection. No slowness at all. (She uses Firefox on Windows 7 on a Dell) Here's the results for the same test on her system: Ping: 22ms Download speed; 8.44Mbps Upload speed: 1.02Mbps

  • php-cgi got SIGKILL on burst.net VPS?

    I got an VPS at burst.net, very cheap one, but this doesn't matter. The strange behavior of it is, the php-cgi process, which started using lighthttpd's spawn-cgi, dies every a few minutes. however, other processes are fine and great, even include a java process, and I'm sure there is no "out of memory" issue, so it's not killed by OOM killer. I used strace to trace the process, and found out it was killed by SIGKILL, hence no single log was left on the disk, just dies suddenly. Is there anyway I can find out what process/thing sent the SIGKILL to the poor php process? Filed a ticket with the vendor, but they said they won't care. strace -p 7176 Process 7176 attached - interrupt to quit wait4(-1, <unfinished ...> +++ killed by SIGKILL +++

  • Windows 7 Desktop background picture in Group Policy displaying black - XP working correctly

    We want everyone on the Windows Domain to have the same desktop background. This is set up in a Group Policy. This works great in Windows XP but the Windows 7 machines display a black background. I have re-created the Group Policy, done various tests with different types and sizes of files Enabling and Disabling Active Desktop. I have researched and tried some options and patches from Microsoft as well. Any idea what I can try or even how to determine the problem?

  • How can I get "Calculated Columns" to work in excel?

    Using Excel 2010, I want a single formula to apply to all cells in a column. I see documentation for a feature called "Calculated Columns". That is exactly what I want, but when I follow the instructions I only end up creating a formulate in a single cell - not the whole column. I don't want to use "Fill" or "Copy" because the number or rows in the sheet changes periodically and maintaining the formulas would be very tedious.

  • Setting up UPS monitoring

    I have acquired a second hand Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) that I have refurbished (new battery) and hope to use with my Ubuntu 12.10 system. It's a SOLA 330 with serial out. I have installed NUT Metapackage and NUT Monitor from Software Centre, but am not sure how to go about setting it all up. A Google search brings up several ways of configuring Network UPS Tools (NUT) or HAL-Drivers, however, HAL-Drivers appears to be obsolete and many commands and config files mentioned to edit do not exist in 12.10 or the current version of NUT (most articles are a few years old). One tutorial seemed to work except the Error: no UPS definitions found in ups.conf even though ups.conf has values in it as laid out in the tutorial. How do I go about setting my system to monitor the UPS for a shut down signal? Also, is there a command to determine the UPS is communicating through the serial connection and on what port (to help with setup and configuring, eg. /dev/ttyS0 is mentioned in one of the tutorials I read).

  • Using SDL to replace colors using SDL Color Keys

    Hey, I am working an a simple Roguelike game, and using SDL as the display. The Graphics for the game is an image of Codepage 437, with the background being black, and the font white. Instead of using many seperate image files that are already colored, I want to use one image file, and replace the colors when it is being loaded into memory. The code to split the codepage into a sprite sheet works properly, but when attempting to print in color, everything comes out in white. I had it working the past, but somehow I broke the code when changing it from change the color at print, to change the color on load.     JavaScript needs access to cookies if AJAX is used on a site with access restrictions based on cookies. Will HttpOnly cookies work on an AJAX site? Edit: Microsoft created a way to prevent XSS attacks by disallowing JavaScript access to cookies if HttpOnly is specified. FireFox later adopted this. So my question is: If you are using AJAX on a site, like StackOverflow, are Http-Only cookies an option? Edit 2: Question 2. If the purpose of HttpOnly is to prevent JavaScript access to cookies, and you can still retrieve the cookies via JavaScript through the XmlHttpRequest Object, what is the point of HttpOnly? Edit 3: Here is a quote from Wikipedia: When the browser receives such a cookie, it is supposed to use it as usual in the following HTTP exchanges, but not to make it visible to client-side scripts.[32] The HttpOnly flag is not part of any standard, and is not implemented in all browsers. Note that there is currently no prevention of reading or writing the session cookie via a XMLHTTPRequest. [33]. I understand that document.cookie is blocked when you use HttpOnly. But it seems that you can still read cookie values in the XMLHttpRequest object, allowing for XSS. How does HttpOnly make you any safer than? By making cookies essentially read only? It appears that Wikipedia and ha.ckers concur with me on this one, but I would love be re-educated... Final Edit: Ahh, apparently both sites are wrong, this is actually a bug in FireFox. IE6 & 7 are actually the only browsers that currently fully support HttpOnly. To reiterate everything I've learned: HttpOnly restricts all access to document.cookie in IE7 & and FireFox (not sure about other browsers) HttpOnly removes cookie information from the response headers in XMLHttpObject.getAllResponseHeaders() in IE7. XMLHttpObjects may only be submitted to the domain they originated from, so there is no cross-domain posting of the cookies. edit: This information is likely no longer up to date.

  • Intercepting/Hijacking iPhone Touch Events for MKMapView

    Is there a bug in the 3.0 SDK that disables real-time zooming and intercepting the zoom-in gesture for the MKMapView? I have some real simple code so I can detect tap events, but there are two problems: zoom-in gesture is always interpreted as a zoom-out none of the zoom gestures update the Map's view in realtime. In hitTest, if I return the "map" view, the MKMapView functionality works great, but I don't get the opportunity to intercept the events. Any ideas? I set up the request to go to a mock server which sleeps for 30 seconds. When I call BeginGetResponse, the application just waits at that line of code for the response. I want it to carry on with the app, and then just run the callback whenever it finishes. This code is run from a web page, and my callback just logs the response and sends an email. I don't want to use to have to wait for the response.

    I have an OpenID relying party setup and using XRDS. It passes the "RP has discoverable return_to" interop test over at http://test-id.org/RP/DiscoverableReturnTo.aspx. Yahoo no longer complains with the message "Warning: This website has not confirmed its identity with Yahoo! and might be fraudulent." as outlined in Andrew Arnott's excellent blog post: http://blog.nerdbank.net/2008/06/why-yahoo-says-your-openid-site.html However, when I try to authenticate using AOL I see the "Warning! site verification could not be completed." message.
