  • FreeRADIUS Default Answer

    We are using FreeRADIUS with a MySQL database, authenticating users. We ran into an issue where are MySQL database was slow causing the max number of threads to be reached. The issue with this is, when the server couldn't answer the requests as there were no threads avaiable, it sent the response of Access-Reject to the clients. Our devices cache client connections and periodically checks with the server to see if they should still be allowed or to remove them. The equipment is designed that if there is no response from the server and a client is connected it will remain connected. The issue is, when the radius server is at its max threads, its default answer is to send access-reject (verified via packet capture), however we would like to change the default behavior to just ignore the request (keeping the clients connected). We have fixed the MySQL database issue for now, but I would like to change the default from Access-Reject, to just ignore the client altogeather. I have done research, but not able to find an answer to the question. Thanks in Advance.

    To check the record for the domain, run dig with domain name as the parameter. dig example.com any I get the below result. Why there is no A record show in the result. What did i do wrong during the setup. Please advice what suppose to look into it.     This question is to help me (us) ask better questions of this community to encourage better working together. What questions here bring out the best in you? I don't mean which are the best / most appropriate questions but which bring the best out of you? That is, it brings out your best thinking and most constructive behaviour. Consider, for example, questions that make you think or that are asked in a certain way. Or consider specific a question should be. Or more abstractly, questions asked on a certain day / time, ... So I'm not necessarily asking about specific subjects but rather how a question is asked. What inspires you to drop everything and start answering? This comes from my observing questions that get highest points - I’m graduating with a Computer Science degree but I don’t feel like I know how to program. is very positive but my first ever question caused a minor storm. Ironically, I'm nervous posting this question so please don't attack if this is inappropriate.

  • Java - StackOverflow Error on recursive 2D boolean array method that shouldn't happen.

    Hey everyone, I'm working on a runnable java applet that has a fill feature much like the fill method in drawing programs such as Microsoft Paint. This is how my filling method works: 1.) The applet gets the color that the user clicked on using .getRGB 2.) The applet creates a 2D boolean array of all the pixels in the window, with the value "true" if that pixel is the same color as the color clicked on or "false" if not. The point of this step is to keep the .getRGB method out of the recursive method to hopefully prevent this error. 3.) The applet recursively searches the 2D array of booleans where the user clicked, recording each adjacent point that is "true" in an ArrayList. The method then changes each point it records to false and continues. 4.) The applet paints every point stored in the ArrayList to a user selected color. All of the above steps work PERFECTLY if the user clicks within a small area, where only a few thousand pixels or so have their color changed.     I know, it's most likely the reason stackexchange has become so popular, by forcing people to actually contribute. But as a full-time lurker, and long time user (only recently signed up), it kind of bums me out that I don't get to give credit where credit is due. I don't generally asks questions because I always find a related question before I get myself into the situation where I need to ask and I don't like to answer questions myself as I don't consider myself experienced enough to be contributing effectively. Hopefully the first response to this post is a quick solution to getting 15 reputation points that I haven't seen, and I can just quickly delete this useless question, or maybe a concise paragraph explaining why my question is redundant and that I should go back to my lurky shadows of which I came from. All I want to do, is give credit to helpful comments/questions.

  • Where is a good place to start to learn about custom caching in .Net

    I'm looking to make some performance enhancements to our site, but I'm not sure exactly where to begin. We have some custom object caching, but I think that we can do better. Our Business We aggregate news stories on a news type of web site. We get approximately 500-1000 new stories per week. We have index pages that show various lists of the items and details pages that show the individual stories. Our Current Use case: Getting an Individual Story User makes a request The Data Access Layer(DAL) checks to see if the item is in cache and if item is fresh (15 minutes). If the item is not in cache or is not fresh, retrieve the item from SQL Server, save to cache and return to user. Problems with this approach The pull nature of caching means that users have to pay the waiting cost every time that the cache is refreshed. Once a story is published, it changes infrequently and I think that we should replace the pull model with something better. My initial thoughts My initial thought is that stories should ALL be stored locally in some type of dictionary. (Cache or is there another, better way?). If the story is not found, then make a trip to the database, update the local dictionary and send the item back. Since there may be occasional updates to stories, this should be an entirely process from the user. I watched a video by Brent Ozar, How StackOverflow Scales SQL Server, in which Brent states "the fastest database query is the one that you don't make". Where do I start? At this point, I don't know exactly what the solution is. Is it caching? Is there a better way of using local storage? Do I use a Dictionary, OrderedDictionary, List ? It seems daunting and I'm just looking for some good starting points to learn more about how to do this type of optimization.

Yet, if I disable my other DHCP server (Win2k3) and get a client to try renewing its IP lease, it times out. So I installed dhcping. No matter what options I try, including directing dhcping at my server, adding a client address in the range, adding my hardware address, it replies 'no answer'. I'm also trying -i since that seems to be more akin to what a WinXP client would try to do, based on /var/log/messages. It sounds like it should be getting three answers...no? (And if that's the problem, how do I limit the DHCP service to replying from eth0?)

  • Home PBX to answer/take external calls via PSTN

    I have a Thomson 585V6 router which has built in voip support. I want to be able to use a softphone to make calls. for example phone my dad's mobile. Any incomming calls to my normal bt number should be taken via my pc as well. What I have done so far: I've wired the pstn port on the router to the telephone jack. The router is connected to my pc. I have installed asterisk on the pc I want to take calls on. The sip client authenticates to the sip server. output from twinkle: Sun 22:46:45 home, registration succeeded (expires = 3600 seconds) how do I take external calls/ answer incoming calls from pstn?

Connected to $HOSTADDRESS$. Escape character is '^]'. After searching the web for two hours and trying different suggestions I am out of ideas. I have several other hosts with similar setup, and they don't have this problem. I have compared the configs and they look the same (I think). I am clearly missing something here.

  • IIS 6 + ASP.NET web service - DW20 and stackoverflow exception

    Consider an ASP.NET SOAP web service that starts up fine, but craters hard when receiving its first hit. Please note that this is deployment works in the Test environment, but not in the PreProd environment. Both are Windows 2003 SP3 + IIS 6 + ASP.NET 3.5. All up-to-date. The behaviour that we're seeing is: restart the site & app pool the app pool is configured to run under Network Service. browsing to the .asmx and .wsdl responds normally, as expected. send a normal well-formed SOAP request / normal payload to the web service 100% CPU usage after 5 seconds, the page request / site returns "Service Unavailable" no entry is created in the IIS log file (i.e. c:\windows\system32\logfiles\W3C-foo) the app pool ends up being stopped The processes that hit the CPU hard are dw20.exe. I am unsure why Dr Watson is involved here. Event Log shows an ASP.NET Runtime error: Task Manager: Event log text: EventType clr20r3, P1 w3wp.exe, P2 6.0.3790.3959, P3 45d6968e, P4 errormanagement, P5 1.0.0.0, P6 4b86a13f, P7 24, P8 0, P9 system.stackoverflowexception, P10 NIL. Questions Any thoughts on what this system.stackoverflow exception might be? Given that the code is the same between environments, might it be a payload problem? Could it be a configuration issue? You can see the name of my .NET assembly there in the exception message: "ErrorManagement"
