• xmonad + urxvt issue: text disappears after resizing

  I'm using Arch Linux + xmonad + urxvt bundle and trying to resolve the conflict between xmonad and urxvt. Better to explain with shots: Firstly, open the terminal and get some full-length output. Secondly, create another window, which squeezes the first. And, finally, close it to find out that half of the output disappeared. Sometimes it behaves correctly, sometimes not. Tried to find out why, but failed. Many thx in advance!

• Firefox extension to translate selection boxes

Meanwhile I can't translate the whole website because google translator says "Sorry, we are unable to translate the page you requested." • Confused about ASP.NET AJAX, AJAX, jQUERY and javascript

  Yesterday, I read couple of chapters on ASP.NET Ajax,and jQuery from my ASP.NET 4.0 book and I found those frameworks pretty interesting and decide to learn more about it. Today, I borrow some books from library on AJAX and Javascript. It seems ASP.NET ajax is different from Ajax and jQuery seems like the "new" javascript. Is that means I can skip javascript and learn jQUERY directly? On the other hand, the Ajax(non asp.net) book I borrow from library seems apply to the client side web programming only and looks quite difference from what I learned from ASP.NET AJAX. If I'm a ASP.NET developer I guess I should stick with ASP.NET AJAX instead of client side AJAX right? What about PHP? Is there a "PHP AJAX" similar to ASP.NET AJAX? • Freshy Ubuntu 12.10 install (Newbie)

  Hi i just installed ubuntu 12.10 on my ssd(picture below) and i set up my home directory to the 1 TB disc(picture below). I want in general use the ssd as my root folder as u can see, and install only the apps which are necessary. Games and other stuff goes to the 1 TB disc, but this disc shows me in gparted a usage of 14 GB on a freshly install, whats wrong? What about the ssd, do i have to manually optimize things? thx Alex PS: What if i want to install a Game to my home folder, i heard sth. of a symbol link, how to do that?

• How to "roll up" the window?

  After just having upgraded to 11.10, I wonder how i can change what happens when I double click a window title bar. I had it configured to roll up (I cannot remember the phrase in English, in German it was "einrollen", i guess) which was found in the appearence menu as far as a I remember. The solution proposed at What happened to "Roll up" option in Preferences/Window/Title bar Action? doesnt work for me insofar as toggle-shade minimizes the window with a roll-up animation, and shade alone will maximize the window after rolling it up. Anyone have a clue what i can do? Thx! Dominik

When your character is doing an action, you can input the next action that will activate as soon as possible (the buffer is 5-10 frames). Is anyone had already done it or knows the most efficient way to do this? • Skyrim Nexus Mods on Xbox 360 by use of dawnguard?

  i think it's possible i opened up the dawnguard marketplace content and it consists 3 files: dawnguard.bsa < mod dawnguard.esp <- mod installing file. and spa.bin <-dont know where this is for. and it has been confirmed you can use the top 2 files on pc for a not fully functional dawnguard (barely functional to be exact) and if we could just replace or add a few other bsa and esp files to this marketplace content we could get mods up and running on xbox altough i need confirmation on this. I also have no clue where the spa.bin file for is, i need to examine it some further. Further this is adding a few non-distributed Files to marketplace content and wont get you booted from XBL.   Possible Duplicate: How do you create a single/internal pre-loader for a Flash game written using Flex? Hi guys, Im trying to make a preloader in a Flash game. Thing is, I need some advices on this since I never made one, I have the game almost complete, but when, i.e, I upload the game to a website I get a white screen for a few seconds, and then I see the game. • Ubuntu server Mysql remote access from MySQL Workbench

  I have a newly install ubuntu installed the mysql server. After the basic config, I changed the my.cnf file and commented the bind_address I can start the server and added iptable for 3306. I also add the privileges to mysql server as follow: GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON . TO 'root'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY 'P@ssw0rd' WITH GRANT OPTION; FLUSH PRIVILEGES; exit However after connected from the mysql workbench, it shows no database. But it seems that have login. Anyone have faced that or can help me? Thx!

• Blog comment spammers &hellip; help!

  Hey, I need some advice/help, now I’ve been writing on this blog for a few years, I don’t blog a great deal in comparison to many of my peers and my blog doesn’t get a massive number of hits, BUT I seem to get a fair share of comments spammers!! I have an image verification on the comments and I have put an Akismet API key into the Geekswithblogs settings, but I still get a bunch of spam comments. They could almost be real, until you see the link going off to some dating site or casino crap. What does everyone do?? Delete them every time?? Moderate comments?? • Monitor blinking

  Hi I have Ubuntu 10.04, my laptop is ASUS k50ij, intel duo t3000, 2gb ram, 320 HDD, intel gma 4500M video card. My problem is that a couple days ago my monitor had start blinking for a few seconds. Then it stops and begins the same behaviour let's say in next 2 hours. What am i missing here? Another funny problem is that when i give more or less brightness to monitor the pop up window shows and giving "Power information: Laptop battery is charged". When my brightness is lower the blinking increases and vice versa. thx for help

• ubuntu broke my windows boot

  I was installing ubuntu on pendrive and once finished I needed to run windows a bit, even though I chose erase and install ON THE PENDRIVE it altered my hdd boot sector When I remove the ubu cd and pendrive it should only boot from hdd (windows) but it gives Error: no such device : blablabla(numerbes and letters) Grub rescue _ If I place the pendrive inside it asks me whether to start windows or linux (windows works here) I need to run windows without the pendrive, how can I remove grub from the hdd and also run ubuntu from the pendrive(once I remove grub from the hdd) || THX ArK, your information help me do wonders! :) || Now... it seems that without grub i can not boot the ubuntu from the pendrive anymore, blank screen and nothing loads(i did check the ubuntu with the grub from the hdd, and everything inside it worked perfectly (except the clock, it didnt find my local hour...) ) New problem: it seems that grub which is now on the pendrive is always asking me whether to boot from windows or ubuntu F*ck of course i want to boot ubuntu otherwise i would stick the pen inside the computer

• ralink rt2860 not working anymore in ubuntu 12.10

  I just upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10, however, my network card is not working anymore... When i had 12.04 installed, i just had to download the driver from Ralink, go to the directory and enter these commands: $ make $ sudo make install and the network card worked... now, when I want to do this in ubuntu 12.10, it seems like it works, but it doesn't. I can enable the module, it recognizes the network card, but i am unable to connect to any wireless network... How can i get my wireless card working again? If any1 knows a solution, please tell it to me, thx in advance

  Hi. So, long story short, some days ago I pusblished an iPhone game, I think the game wasnt that bad tbh, and still I got only 10 sells at $0.99. Are they any publishers, sponsors, or distributors to make your game "visible" on the app store market?, or the only thing you need is to have an amazing game and thats all? Somehow I think that even if you have an awesome game if you dont do that "marketing magic" correctly you will not exist in the store. • Is there a way to disable a particular pci port

  I have a MB with 2 nics on it. a switch burned up and took out one of them. there is no way to turn them off individually in the bios. is there a way to turn off one of the ports. unmap it,unbind it, power it down so the system doesnt see it at after boot. they are mapped as 0000:02.08.0 and 0000:02.08.1 I want to turn the second one off somehow. Since they both use the same driver, blacklisting the module will take out both of them. Normally I would just live with it but it seems there should be a way to do that like in windows (gasp)--just disable it. I Actually have the exact same problem on another comp running XCP so this will be a 2fer if it gets figured out. the OS is 12.4 lts server with xen on it. THX

• dnsmasq not running

  i installed ubuntu 12.04 on a netbook with 16GB SSD. To keep the installation small i used the mini.iso i got from here. Everything worked fine, but i noticed that dnsmasq does not get started by NetworkManager. On a different machine i installed 12.04 from a regular iso and netstat shows dnsmasq running and listening on port 53. NetworkManager.conf look identically on both systems. The line dns=dnsmasq is present. Although i do not really need dnsmasq - name resolution works fine without - i would like to know the reason why dnsmasq is running on one system, but does not run on the other and how i could adjust this behavior. • Chrome says my website is Serbian...how do I "force" chrome to use english?

  Our website is based in the U.S. and all of our users are in the U.S. and the site is written in english. When we open the page in chrome, an alert comes up "This page is in Serbian...would you like to translate it"? I imagine it is some javascript or other code that is triggering that. Is there a way to force chrome to use "English" as the language? We tried googling this question but came up with nothing. thx!

• How to fix missing menus in non ubuntu maverick apps

  Hi! There's a bug with the menue of filezilla: When opening filezilla there is no menue list. Very inconvenient because you can't open the "settings"-dialog. There are several workarounds that I tried - none of them really work. change theme while filezilla is running, menue reapperars. Once you close and reopen it the menue is gone again. add "export UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0" " to .bash.rc or just call it before starting filezilla. Doesn't have any effect for me - menue still missing. tried "sudo apt-get remove appmenu-gtk" cause it's obviously to do with unity but the funny thing is even this method has bo effect at all! How can I fix this? How to do the troubleshooting? thx fior reading, p.

• default mount point changed for external HD

  The default mount point for my external HD changed when upgrading from 13.04 to 13.10. Now the username is added as an extra level before the hd label. So it used to be /media/nameofhd and now it became /media/username/nameofhd This breaks a lot of links I have set up to this disk. I know that I can mount it manually and even automatically through /etc/fstab. What I want to know is why this behaviour changed and how I can change it back to the original? blkid and fdisk don't show anything suspicious. thx!

• Burn MP4 to CD in ubuntu 12.04

  I have an mp4 file (115,8 mb). I want to burn it to a Sony CD-R (700 mb) to watch on tv. I tried to do it with DeVeDe from ubuntu software center but it always give me this error: "Conversion failed. It seems a bug of Mencoder." Can anyone tell me an other method to burn my mp4 to cd? Or can anyone tell me how to fix DeVeDe's error? I use a TOSHIBA computer (64 bit) with windows 7 home premium and ubuntu 12.04 LTS (installed via wubi.exe). Thx.

• No wifi using Ubuntu on laptops

  I have loaded Ubuntu onto two different laptops and both had the same result...no WiFi. I could access the internet if I plugged into Ethernet port but try as I might, I just could not access WiFi. I even tried Wine to install a Windows based external usb WiFi device but again...nothing. It functioned normally in Windows but with Ubuntu installed....nothing and this was the same whether it installed just Ubuntu or dual booted with Windows. Any suggestions? Thx!

  I have asked this question some time before as well - but here is the main problem out: MBR was defect, I used Boot-Repair that I could access my Win-xp partition With windows ext3 readers I can't access Under live-cds i can't access to my Ubuntu partition (not able to mount them) I didn't format them accidentialy or earsed them nor overwrote them. • How to organize the nautilus bookmarks in the "Places" panel applet?

  their seems to be no configuration dialog for the "Places" menue in the panel. Yes, I know how to add, remove or change the order of the bookmarks in nautilus. But I want to use folders and subfolders for the bookmarks. With more than 20 entries the nautilus bookmarks and the places menue become inconvenient. any editor for this? any configuration file that does the job? any other tool than the standard places menue? any extension for nautilus to extend the bookmark organization? thx for reading, p.
