  • Server 2003 - Default installation of SharePoint throws javascript error 'undefined' is null or not an object

    I have been handed a server that has a fresh installation of small business server 2003. SharePoint has been installed, and it is a completely fresh copy (no changes made) I know for a fact that everything was paid for so this isn't some dodgy copy. When I try to click any option in any of the floating menu's in IE 8, the browser asks me if I want to debug .. Error: 'undefined' is null or not an object for example, I got to Projects - and click on the sample project, then click delete on the floating menu that pops up and the error appears. This is brand new, I cannot believe I am having this problem! Has anyone come across this, is it an old problem with easy fix? All windows updates installed - see no updates for sharepoint?   • Apache 2: I have multiple domain names I want to point to one Virtual Host. Do I use ServerAlias?

    I have multiple domain names, for example: www.foo.com www.goo.com www.moo.com www.coo.com I want all of these domain names to resolve to one website AND to redirect to www.foo.com What is the best method to achieve this? Multiple entries? Use ServerAlias? Something else? If the best method is ServerAlias, what is the syntax? ServerAlias www.goo.com, www.moo.com, www.coo.com

  • Use Dropbox as Offsite Enterprise Backup Solution [on hold]

    For my small company, I'm using Tomahawk Backup as the enterprise offshore solution, as it covers files, databases and Exchange (brick level). The problem is the price... it costs more than 10x the price of Dropbox (and others) for the same space (120GB), and doesn't have de-duplication. So I'm wondering: assuming there is no problem with backing up files only (ie copying the exchange store file and the db files to the Dropbox folder), would Dropbox be suitable as the offsite backup solution?   • Install PHP mcrypt on Red Hat 4

    I'm having a very hard time getting mcrypt for PHP installed on a Red Hat 4 server. I've downloaded the rpm but it tells me: error: Failed dependencies: php-common(x86-32) = 5.4.7-2.fc18 is needed by php-mcrypt-5.4.7-2.fc18.i686 rpmlib(FileDigests) <= 4.6.0-1 is needed by php-mcrypt-5.4.7-2.fc18.i686 libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.4) is needed by php-mcrypt-5.4.7-2.fc18.i686 libltdl.so.7 is needed by php-mcrypt-5.4.7-2.fc18.i686 rtld(GNU_HASH) is needed by php-mcrypt-5.4.7-2.fc18.i686 rpmlib(PayloadIsXz) <= 5.2-1 is needed by php-mcrypt-5.4.7-2.fc18.i686 So when I try to install one of those packages, they also require another 8 packages. So I'm diving into dependency hell here. Now if I try to compile mcrypt from source, this is what I get: checking for libmcrypt - version >= 2.5.0... no *** Could not run libmcrypt test program, checking why... *** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the *** exact error that occured. This usually means LIBMCRYPT was incorrectly installed *** or that you have moved LIBMCRYPT since it was installed. In the latter case, you *** may want to edit the libmcrypt-config script: no configure: error: *** libmcrypt was not found But I was able to install libmcrypt from an rpm packages successfully. Any suggestions? Also, I cannot use up2date as it requires an active paid account from Red Hat and since the staff has changed rather rapidly in the last year where I work, no one knows if there even was any support accounts.

  • How to input 64-bit hex values in octave

    I'm trying to use Octave as a programmer's calculator. I want to input a 64-bit pointer, but when I do apparently the 64-bit value gets silently truncated to 32-bit: octave:44> base_ptr=0x1010101020202020 base_ptr = 538976288 octave:45> uint64(base_ptr) ans = 538976288 octave:46> printf("%lx\n", base_ptr) 20202020 So it seems like it's truncated the input value to the low 32-bits. I would use scanf, but the docs say it should only be used internally. How can I input the full 64-bit value? Alternately, is there some awesome free programmer's calculator out there for Windows? (I know Windows calculator has a programmer's mode but I would like arbitrary variable support). I tried using my ti-89 but it also doesn't support 64-bit hex.

  • Windows HTTP proxy client to pass service requests to VPN

    I've got access to a network via CheckPoint VPN (Windows client). Problem is, I have a linux box that needs to talk to its web services and the target web servers are inside the VPN. So far, we have been unable to connect linux to the VPN (and I'm not trying to solve that problem at the moment). I'm wondering if (temporarily) I can setup a proxy server on a Windows (XP) box to shuttle HTTP requests back and forth? If so, what'd be a good application to do this? (hopefully free/open-source) TIA

  • How does the "Steam" platform work? Is it DRM? Can I trust "Steam"-powered games?

    So – I just bought the new game Supreme Commander 2. This question is not about the game, but about the online software installation platform that it seems to require. I haven't bought a game in a long time, and I'm puzzled: Apparently, SC2 is a "Steam"-powered game. When I went to install the game, it asked me to either create a new Steam account, or log in with an existing account. I clicked "Cancel" because I don't plan to play online and I don't want anything unnecessary installed on my computer, since I only plan to play single player! However, after clicking "Cancel", the installer asked for my confirmation that I indeed wanted to cancel installation of the game! I thought I was just canceling the "online" portions! So I really want to know: How do "Steam" powered games work? Is this essentially a form of DRM (Digital Rights Management)? Can I trust this software platform? Has anybody done any independent verification on how this platform works? (I'm very leery of any DRM after the Sony BMG CD copy protection scandal. Thank goodness for Mark Russinovich.) Does the "Steam" platform install anything particularly nasty or unwanted on my computer?

  • How to configure Apache to run in front of IIS (.net+php)

    Hi So basically I have IIS6 running a .net application, running on port 80. What I want is to insert php code in this application. I found on a forum someone suggesting to run Apache+php in front of the IIS server so, like this, the .net code will be interpreted by the IIS server and after that the result will be passed to Apache that will interpret the php code. Is it possible? If yes then how to configure the Apache server? Thanks guys :)

  • Windows update deleting Sticky Notes (StikyNot.exe)?

    Got a win7 computer for xmas and like the Sticky Notes But twice now, after running an automatic update, the sticky notes disappeared Managed to navigate system restore and recover it, but what a pain in the butt. The update seems to be deleting the exe, but I haven't been able to find any info on why. Anyone else experience this? Any ideas how to prevent it happening again? Cheers

For example, right now I am listening to some music on fairly loudly and I would like all of the alerts I am getting from other apps (email, twitter updates, IMs) to be reduced.

  • Firefox 4 show tools menu in button interface

    I like the extra vertical space provided by the latest firefox beta (4b9). However, the button interface doesn't give you access to the tools menu. I know that I can either temporarily enable the menubar by holding down the ALT key, but flipping a flag in about:config would be preferable. Does such a flag exist? Edit: I want to be able to access the tools menu from the new button interface like you can with Bookmarks, History, Options, and Help.

  • Lockup when unlocking screen saver

    I've had this happen a couple of times - screen saver kicks in, locks the screen, and when I put my password in to unlock it the system just seems to hang. Cursor turns to the busy, HDD light flickers occasionally, but the only thing I can do at that point is power down. This is on a desktop, not a laptop and according to the bios all the power saving is turned off. Has anyone else seen this? Is there a way to prevent it, or at least diagnose the cause?

    I'm trying to use NtBackup to back up the C: Drive on a Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 machine and get the following error in the log file: Backup Status Operation: Backup Active backup destination: 4mm DDS Media name: "Media created 04/02/2011 at 21:56" Error: The device reported an error on a request to read data from media. Error reported: Invalid command. There may be a hardware or media problem. Please check the system event log for relevant failures. Error: C: is not a valid drive, or you do not have access. The operation did not successfully complete. I'm using a brand new SATA Quantum Dat-72 drive with a brand new tape (tried a couple of tapes). I carry out the following: Open NTBackup Select Backup Tab Tick the box next to C: Ensure Destination is 4mm DDS Media is set to New Press Start Backup Choose Replace the data on the media and press Start Backup NTBackup tries to mount the media Error Message shows: The device reported an error on a request to read data from media.   • Firefox appending .xls extension to .xlsx files

    We are serving files with the .xlsx (excel 2007/2010) extension. IE, Chrome, Safari all download the file and open excel just fine. Firefox is being stupid. For some reason it's appending .xls to the extension. I found this: https://support.mozilla.com/bs/questions/758363 However, the instructions weren't very specific and completely unclear to me.   • How should I setup separate mx records for a subdomain?

    Lets say I have a domain that I run a web app on, for example cranketywidgets.com, and I'm using google apps for handle email for people work work on that domain, i.e. support@ cranketywidgets.com, [email protected], [email protected] and so on. Google's own mail services aren't always the best for sending automated reminder emails, comment notifications and so on, so the current solution I plan to pursue is to create a separate subdomain called mailer.cranketywidgets.com, run a mail server off it, and create a few accounts specifically for sending these kinds of emails. What should the mx records and a records look like here for this? I'm somewhat confused by the fact that mx records can be names, but that they must eventually resolve to an A record. What should the records look like here? cranketywidgets.com - A record to actual server like 10.24.233.214 cranketywidgets.com - mx records for google's email apps mailer.cranketywidgets.com - mx name pointing to server's ip address Would greatly appeciate some help on this - the answer seems like it'll be obvious, but email spam is a difficult problem to solve.

  • Restore SQL Server 2008 db without affecting users

    When I restore a db in Sql Server 2008 R2 from data on another server, it makes a mess of the users. I have a Windows User and MsSql Login named Web_SqlA on both machines. Before the Restore, Web_SqlA is properly mapped to the right Windows user in the database. After the Restore, Web_SqlA is still listed as a user for the db, but it's no longer tied to the Windows user, causing Trusted Connections to it to fail. How can I Restore the db without breaking this user each time? I see that this: Sql Server Database Restore And this: Sql Server Database Restore Address fixing these orphaned users after the fact; I'm looking to prevent overwriting the users during the Restore in the first place - everything else should be restored, but leave my users be. How can I go about that?

  • OS X will not register newly installed network adapters

    I have purchased an Edimax 7318USg and tested it on a Windows machine (works). The installation process for the software for this adapter runs smoothly. However, OS X simply does not recognize new network adapters. When you go to System Preferences/Network, a new network adapter should be present/there should be an alert. This is not the case. Why might this be? Is there a setting I may reset to force the operating system to recognize this? Thanks!

    I have to find out in which exact format JCIFS stores the user principal in the "getUserPrincipal()" property. Therefor i created a test Environment like this: Windows Server 2008 Domain Controller Domain named "MYDOMAIN" Many Testusers in Active Directory Tomcat Application Server with my Web Application (which simply reads the user Principal and displays its values). The user should be logged in to the web-application with SSO therefor i need the format that jcifs is using to store the user. (For example user@MYDOMAIN or MYDOMAIN\user...) I tested the Authentication with other SSO frameworks with Kerberos Method and it works as expected. I'm now trying to use SSO through the NTLMHttpFilter of JCIFS. When i try to login i get the following error message: jcifs.smb.SmbException: The parameter is incorrect. jcifs.smb.SmbTransport.checkStatus(SmbTransport.java:541) jcifs.smb.SmbTransport.send(SmbTransport.java:641) jcifs.smb.SmbSession.sessionSetup(SmbSession.java:322) jcifs.smb.SmbSession.send(SmbSession.java:224) jcifs.smb.SmbTree.treeConnect(SmbTree.java:176) jcifs.smb.SmbSession.logon(SmbSession.java:153) jcifs.smb.SmbSession.logon(SmbSession.java:146) jcifs.http.NtlmHttpFilter.negotiate(NtlmHttpFilter.java:189) jcifs.http.NtlmHttpFilter.doFilter(NtlmHttpFilter.java:121) Regarding to the documentation i'm using to configure this, this is a know issue with the Group policy. It is stated there, that i have to change the Group policy "Networkaccess: lan-manager authentication level" to respond to NTLMv1 request. I have done this, but it's still not working. So what i also have to configure is the same policy on the client computer. I have to change the policy, so that the client computer sends NTLMv1. But it is always sending NTLMv2 tokens. The problem now is that i'm somehow not able to change this setting. (I already was before) because the dropdown box to choose the authentication method is "greyed out". edit: just to make this clear, this dialog is on the client-side in the "local-security policies" As you can see from this screenshot, the chosen method is "Only send NTLMv2 responses" which is the wrong setting and i'm pretty sure that this is causing the error above. My question is now, why can't i change this setting? Why is it greyd out?

  • How do I set up an anonymous autoversioning mod_dav_svn server?

    I would like to create a DAV SVN server with autoversioning that has no access control of any kind. I experimented with several variations on this, but every one of them runs into this error in the end: "Anonymous lock creation is not allowed." So, as a fallback option I would like to configure my SVN Location to have default credentials. Is this possible? Is there a better way to do what I'm trying to do?
