Find images that have a certain HTML class name

I have some markup that contains certain HTML image tags with the class featured. What I need is to find all those images, add an anchor tag around the image, set the href attribute of the anchor to the images src value (the image path), and lastly replace the images src value with a new value (I call a method that will return this value). <p>Some text here <img src="/my/path/image.png" alt="image description" class="featured" />. Keeping user data persistent after validates_presence_of

I'm designing a question-and-answer Ruby on Rails application. After a user logs in, you can see a list of questions posed by other users. I have a link next to each of the questions to /answers/new?question_id=someNumber. That links to a page that displays the question (to remind the "answerer") above a standard form for submitting your answer. In order to display the question, I call @question = Question.find_by_id(params[:question_id]) and reference @question in the Haml view file: Question details %h2 #{h @question.title} #{h @question.description} %br/ %br/ %h1 Your answer - form_for(@answer) do |f| = f.error_messages %p = f.label :description, "Enter your response here" %br = f.text_area :description = f.hidden_field "question", :value => @question.id %p = f.submit 'Answer' The problem is that if I check validates_presence_of :description in Answer.rb, then I lose question_id if the user did not input anything into the description field when the page reloads, so I can't re-display the question for which the user is answering. How should I fix this? Is there a better way of storing the question the user is trying to answer so that I can display it above the form for entering a new answer (and perhaps in other views in the future)? How to generalize a method call in Java (to avoid code duplication)

I have a process that needs to call a method and return its value. However, there are several different methods that this process may need to call, depending on the situation. If I could pass the method and its arguments to the process (like in Python), then this would be no problem. However, I don't know of any way to do this in Java. Here's a concrete example. (This example uses Apache ZooKeeper, but you don't need to know anything about ZooKeeper to understand the example.) The ZooKeeper object has several methods that will fail if the network goes down. In this case, I always want to retry the method. To make this easy, I made a "BetterZooKeeper" class that inherits the ZooKeeper class, and all of its methods automatically retry on failure. This is what the code looked like: public class BetterZooKeeper extends ZooKeeper { private void waitForReconnect() { // logic } @Override public Stat exists(String path, Watcher watcher) { while (true) { try { return super.exists(path, watcher); } catch (KeeperException e) { // We will retry. } waitForReconnect(); } } @Override public byte[] getData(String path, boolean watch, Stat stat) { while (true) { try { return super.getData(path, watch, stat); } catch (KeeperException e) { // We will retry. } waitForReconnect(); } } @Override public void delete(String path, int version) { while (true) { try { super.delete(path, version); return; } catch (KeeperException e) { // We will retry. } waitForReconnect(); } } } (In the actual program there is much more logic and many more methods that I took out of the example for simplicity.) We can see that I'm using the same retry logic, but the arguments, method call, and return type are all different for each of the methods. The run() method holds the retry logic, and the action() method is a placeholder for whichever ZooKeeper method needs to be run. Each of the public methods of BetterZooKeeper instantiates an anonymous inner class that is a subclass of the RetryableZooKeeperAction inner class, and it overrides the action() method. The local variables are (strangely enough) implicitly passed to the action() method, which is possible because they are final. In the end, this approach does work and it does eliminate the duplication of the retry logic. However, it has two major drawbacks: (1) it creates a new object every time a method is called, and (2) it's ugly and hardly readable. Also I had to workaround the 'delete' method which has a void return value. So, here is my question: is there a better way to do this in Java? This can't be a totally uncommon task, and other languages (like Python) make it easier by allowing methods to be passed. I suspect there might be a way to do this through reflection, but I haven't been able to wrap my head around it.

How can I abide by the DRY principle, not repeat those three lines, and make this query more concise?

Localizing a plist with grouped data

Is there a way to localize a plist that contain hierarchical or grouped data? For instance, if the plist contains: Book 1 (dictionary) Key (string) Name (string) Description (localizable string) Book 2 (dictionary) Key (string) Name (string) Description (localizable string) (etcetera...) For the sake of the example, the Key and Name should not be translated (and preferably should not be duplicated in multiple localized property lists). Is there a mechanism for providing localizations for the localizable Description field without localizing the entire property list? The only other strategy that came to my mind is to store a lookup key in the description field and than use that to retrieve the localized text via NSLocalizedString(...) Thanks.

Performing LINQ Self Join

I'm not getting the results I want for a query I'm writing in LINQ using the following: var config = (from ic in repository.Fetch() join oc in repository.Fetch() on ic.Slot equals oc.Slot where ic.Description == "Input" && oc.Description == "Output" select new Config { InputOid = ic.Oid, OutputOid = oc.Oid }).Distinct(); The following SQL returns 53 rows (which is correct), but the above LINQ returns 96 rows: SELECT DISTINCT ic.Oid AS InputOid, oc.Oid AS OutputOid FROM dbo.Config AS ic INNER JOIN dbo.Config AS oc ON ic.Slot = oc.Slot WHERE ic.Description = 'Input' AND oc.Description = 'Output' How would I replicate the above SQL in a LINQ query? Update: I don't think it matters, but I'm working with LINQ to Entities 4.0.

I have a bunch of records I want to move to another database and I just want to create a bunch of inserts that I can copy and paste. I've seen someone do this before but I can't figure it out. I'm not getting the escapes right. It's something like this where 'Code', 'Description' and 'Absent' are the columns I want from the table. SELECT 'INSERT INTO AttendanceCodes (Code, Description, Absent) VALUES (' + Code + ',' + Description + ',' + Absent')' FROM AttendanceCodes The end result should be a slew of INSERTS with the correct values like this: INSERT INTO AttendanceCodes (Code, Description, Absent) VALUES ('A','Unverified Absence','UA')

All email directed to 3rd party vendor except for one specific domain. How?

So we setup a site to site vpn tunnel with another company. We then proceeded to setup a DNS zone on each others dns servers and entered in each others Mail server name and IP, MX record and WWW record. This allowed us to send emails to each others mail servers through the site to site vpn. Now recently the other company started using MX Logic to scan all outbound and incoming mail. So all outbound email is directed to MX Logic. However we still want email between us to travel across the the Site to Site VPN tunnel. How can we specify that to happen for just one domain not to be directed to MX Logic? Stump on both ends and looking for help.

SQL Server - Searching string with international characters using LIKE clause

Hi, I have a field 'Description' which can have product descriptions with any unicode characters. If I search for a description which contains an international character, with a LIKE condition (word searched with does not have the international character) I get the following results: Ex: GEWÜRZTRAMINER is one of the descriptions. When I do: Select * from table where Description LIKE '%GEWURZTRAMINER%', it retrieves the entry. When I do: Select * from table where Description LIKE '%GEWURZ%', the entry is not retrieved. (Note: the search condition does not include the Ü but has a U) Is there a way around this so that I can retrieve with '%GEWURZ%' as well? SQl Server 2008

Java saying XML Document Not Well Formed

Hey all. Java's XML parser seems to be thinking that my XML document is not well formed following the root element, but I've validated it with several tools and they all disagree. It's probably an error in my code rather than in the document itself, I'd really appreciate any help you all could offer me. How to remove words based on a word count

Here is what I'm trying to accomplish. I have an object coming back from the database with a string description. This description can be up to 1000 characters long, but we only want to display a short view of this. So I coded up the following, but I'm having trouble in actually removing the number of words after the regular expression finds the total count of words. Does anyone have good way of dispalying the words which are less than the Regex.Matches? Serializing a class containing a custom class

I want to serialize an object as xml that contains other custom classes. From what I understand (I've been reading MSDN and SO mostly), the XmlSerializer doesn't take this into account. This is the line that's confusing me: XML serialization serializes only the public fields and property values of an object into an XML stream. XML serialization does not include type information. For example, if you have a Book object that exists in the Library namespace, there is no guarantee that it will be deserialized into an object of the same type. Taken from MSDN, here For example, I want to serialize an object of type Order, but it contains a list of Products, and each one contains an object of type Category: class Order { List<Product> products; } class Product { Category type; } class Category { string name; string description; } And I want my Order object to be serialized like so: <Order> <Product> <Category Name=""> <Description></Description> </Category> </Product> <Product> <Category Name=""> <Description></Description> </Category> </Product> <Order> Does the XmlSerializer already do this? If not, is there another class that does or do I have to define the serialization process myself?

How to save errors with the handleError in CakePHP 2.0?

I have a big problem. Well, I'm trying to save the errors that happen in my web application. For example (only a example), if I make a division by zero, or happens an error in a query or something like that. So, I wanna catch that and save it in the database. But the handleError of CakePHP is static, so I can't use $this-MyModel-saveError(...). In my /app/Lib/AppError.php I have this: class AppError extends ErrorHandler { public $uses = array('Errors.Error'); public static function handleError($code, $description, $file = null, $line = null, $context = null) { //This print the error: echo "Code: ".$code." In IE8 its false for some reason and therefore it does not put the OnChange javascript event on the input tag. Has anyone seen anything like this before? we are using Freemarker 2.3.9 Update, it kinda works if i turn compatibility mode on for IE8. but not exactly. when i do that, the onchange event doesn't fire until the check box loses focus. which is very different than everything else. Is there a quick way to fix this without too much trouble? i suppose i could put something in that says if ie8, insert onclick instead of onchange. that may work, but i would need an authorization from the client to fix it like that.

scaffold does not update view

Hi there I have a question to the following procedure: script/generate scaffold product title:string description:text db:migrate #then I generate a migration which adds a column description to the table products and migrate the db again. My question is: why is the field description not added to the project-views? Is that normal rails scaffold behaviour? I think I saw in a video tutorial that the scaffold updates as well the views, which would be very convenient. Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks for taking a look at this. I’ve been looking and looking for a solution to what seems like a simple thing to do but nothing yet. Here goes: When you click on "Specialty" in the main menu it goes here: Home /Specialty When you click one of the product images on the home page it goes here: Home /Specialty /Holiday Satin Stocking (Full product description page) I need all products with full product information to end up at Home /Specialty Page set-up would be: Click on Menu item or an image to show like this: |||Product1||| Product Description Add to cart |||Product2||| Product Description Add to cart |||Product3||| Product Description Add to cart I would like to override going "Home /Specialty /Holiday Satin Stocking" all together with listing all the information here: Home /Specialty "Specialty" is set up as an anchor and all products types are simple. I need to do a find and replace in Notepad of Err.Number, canBeAnything, canBeAnything, Err.Description (where canBeAnything is just what it says) with Err.Number, "canBeAnything", "canBeAnything", Err.Description (basically, put quotes around canBeAnything) I got as far as the find Err.Number, .+, .+, Err.Description But I'm stuck on the replace. Any suggestions?
