• Mysql: ROLLBACK for multiple queries

  Hi I have more than three MySql queiries in a PHP script triggered by scheduled task. If a query catch an error, script throw an exception and rollback that Mysql query. It works fine. However if first query works fine, but not 2nd query, throw an exception, it rollback 2nd one but not 1st query. I am using begin_trans(), commit and rollback() for individual queries because Sometimes i need to rollback one query, sometimes all queries. Is there any way to rollback one query or all queries? Thanks in advance UPDATE: I got it working, there was no problem with in begin_trans(), commit and rollback(), the database connection config was different for one query from other queries, crazy code without any comments!!!

  Hi, my layout's requirement is to keep all thumbnails at 80px height, not higher, not smaller. In my model I set the style to :thumb= "500x80", so basically almost every picture which is not too wide gets its perfect miniature with 80px height. Sometimes, however, my pictures are narrow and high, so the thumb can have unclickable dimensions of like 5x80. So I dont want to crop pictures as long as thumbnails are not getting crazy narrow, but I think I can make a little sacrifice and crop them if thumb's width is getting smaller than 25px. So my questions is - is it possible in paperclip to set minimal proportions of a picture by which the style will be "500x80" and beyond that it will turn to sth like "25x80#"?

  I'm going crazy today. I just tried to insert a new record and it threw back a "post_blogpost.id may not be NULL" error. Here's my model: class BlogPost(models.Model): title = models.CharField(max_length=100) slug = models.SlugField(max_length=100) who = models.ForeignKey(User, default=1) when = models.DateTimeField() intro = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) content = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) counter = models.PositiveIntegerField(default=0) published = models.BooleanField(default=False) css = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) class Meta: ordering = ('-when', 'id') There are a number of functions beneath the model too but I won't include them in full here. Their names are: content_cache_key, clear_cache, __unicode__, reads, read, processed_content. I'm adding through the admin... And I'm running out of hair.

• A little bit more complicated multiview App for Iphone

  Hi, i'm new to iphone development. I spend several days by looking for how write muliview app for an Iphone OS. I found how to switch the diferent views without navigation hierarchy (in this article). It's great, but i want more complicated function. For example, i have three diferent views (view 1 - 3) and i can switch between them with technique from link 1. It works fine. My question is: How can i put UITabBarController on view 2, that shows own subviews (tabView 1 - 3) and how put UINavigationController on view 3, that shows own subviews (navView 1 - 2)? The reslut should look like that, one main view (view 1) with two buttons (for example), which switch me to "window" with UiTabBarController or UINavigationController. I found only tutorials, where UITabBarController was a first controller class, that shows directly from AppDelegate (something like default Xcode predefined scenarios). Thanks for your helpfull answer, or i will be crazy soon:).

• Double.Parse - Internationalization problem

  This is driving me crazy. I have the following string in a ASP.NET 2.0 WebForm Page string s = "0.009"; Simple enough. Now, if my culture is Spanish - which is "es-ES" - and I try to convert the string to Double, I do the following: double d = Double.Parse(s, new CultureInfo("es-ES")); what I'd expect is 0,009. Instead, I get 9. I understand that .NET thinks it is a thousand separator, which in en-US is a comma, but shouldn't it take the culture info I'm passing to the parse method and apply the correct format to the conversion? If I do double d = 0.009D; string formatted = d.ToString(new CultureInfo("es-ES")); formatted is now 0,009. Anybody?

If not use Ajax, it maybe much easier, just return View, but if use AJAX, what data structure should return?I just use Json to return the data, but i found each JSON data model return to the client browser, the JS have to use different code to parse it, remove the originally table rows, add the new data rows(because the column is different) etc. It make me crazy, is there any better way to do that? • XCode File Browsing doesn't open files!

  Previously when I browsed source code files using Xcode's file browser (located on left side), clicking on a source file would open it in the right window. I must've accidentally changed some setting that stops this behavior -- now single clicking on any file doesn't do anything at all. I'd really like it to go back to the old behavior of opening the file. Any ideas? This behavior is driving me crazy. To open a source file I have to double-click and open in a separate window.

  Since I was 12, I was always wondering how I can make a function which calculates the power (e.g. 23) myself. In most languages these are included in the standard library, mostly as pow(double x, double y), but how can I write it myself? I was thinking about for loops, but it think my brain got in a loop (when I wanted to do a power with a non-integer exponent, like 54.5 or negatives 2-21) and I went crazy ;) So, how can I write a function which calculates the power of a real number?   I have single-thread windows form application written with VB.NET and targeting Framework 1.1. The software communicates with external boards through a serial interface, and it mainly consist of a state machine that run some tests, driven in a loop done with a Timer and an Interval of 50ms. The feedback on the user interface is done through some custom events raised during the tests. The problem that is driving me crazy is that the performance slightly decrease over time, and in particular after 1200/1300 test operations. The memory occupied does not increase over time, it is only the CPU that seems interested by this problem. The strange thing is that, targeting framework 2.0 and using the same identical code, I do not have this problem. I know that is difficult without looking at the code, but do you have suggestions how can I approach the problem?

  Here's the gist: I have a call I want to make in asp, and I do not care about the response. I just want to fire the call and I do not want the page to wait for the response. What I can gather from the internet is that users do something like the following: While xmlhttp.readyState <> 4 xmlhttp.waitForResponse 1000 Wend Am I crazy in that this does not really seem like an asynchrous call anymore though if you are waiting for a response? putting the line xmlhttp.waitForResponse 1 right after the send will cause the request to fire, but again, I don't want to wait a second. Any thoughts?

• How should I deal with persisting an Android WebView if my activity gets destroyed while showing ano

  Hi, I'm building an Android application that's based around an enhanced WebView (based on PhoneGap). I've enhanced the WebView so that from JavaScript running inside you can invoke the native contact picker to choose a phone number (which may be supplied by Facebook for example). The problem I have is that the native contact picker runs in an activity in another process and the Android docs say that while another activity is open my activity may get destroyed due to memory constraints. I haven't actually seen this happen in my application but if it did then I'm guessing my WebView's state would be destroyed and the code that was waiting for the picked contact would be terminated. It seems a bit crazy that the activity requesting a contact could be destroyed while the contact picker is open. Does anyone know if that does indeed happen? Is there a way to persist the state of the WebView if it does? Thanks, -Shaun

• Blogger Template not saving after Facebook like changes

  I've add the facebook Like button to http://www.goldfishview.com/ and that works great. Its powered by Blogger. Now I want to move it to the end of my posts instead of a the beginning. I move the facebook iframe and the preview looks great, but once I save the template it reverts back to were it was. I've tried in Chrome and Firefox. In Chrome after I click preview the save template button becomes useless and doesn't do anything when I click on it. In Firefox everything looks like it takes, but on page refresh the iFrame goes back to its original position. Am I crazy?

I'm a pro at memory management in pc but somehow I'm having crazy problems here in arduino. For instance: The arduino have 8192B, I'm trying to overflow it with uint_16 so I made an array of 8192/16 which is 512. so I did uint16_t A[512+1]; Well I expected that to cause an overflow.   i received a big book full of processes. i was thinking about the end user (they will be lawyers) and decided the best GUI would be showing activity diagrams or business processes. It reminded me Quickbooks and how non-accountants can successfully use it and understand accounting processes. i began doing research before sending my project to a bunch of programmers: is there some open source solution? can i use MS Visio libraries? which UML tool is programable? what about Eclipse and its modeling tools? etc etc the key points here are: relationships between events, artifacts, actors, etc should be stored in a database. processes or steps in a process should be easily modified by updating the database do this sounds too crazy? (should I explain a bit more why it must be programmed this way?)

• how to have separate keys per record in mongo_mapper + Rails

  When I'm adding a record in mongodb I can specify whatever keys I want and it will store it in the db. The problem is that it will remember those keys for the next time I insert another record. so for example if I do the following: Product.create :foo => 123 and then Product.create :bar => 456 I get :foo => nil field in the 2nd record. This is definitely not a limitation of mongodb itself, since if I restart the rails console and create yet another record with different set of columns, it will not add the columns from the 1st 2 records. So it seems like mongomapper remembers all the keys used and inserts them all into all records, even if values are not provided. The question is obviously: how do I disable this crazy attributes explosion? Basically I want only the 'permanent' keys that I specify in the model to be in every record, but all the 'extra' attributes to be specified per record and not to mess the consequent records.

• C++ iostream not setting eof bit even if gcount returns 0

  Hi I'm developping an application under windows, and i'm using fstreams to read and write to the file. I'm writing with fstream opened like this : fs.open(this->filename.c_str(), std::ios::in|std::ios::out|std::ios::binary); and writing with this command fs.write(reinterpret_cast<char*>(&e.element), sizeof(T)); closing the file after each write with fs.close() Reading with ifstream opened like this : is.open(filename, std::ios::in); and reading with this command : is.read(reinterpret_cast<char*>(&e.element), sizeof(T)); The write is going fine. However, i read in a loop this way : while(!is.eof()) { is.read(reinterpret_cast<char*>(&e.element), sizeof(T)); } and the program keeps reading, even though the end of file should be reached. istellg pos is 0, and gcount is equal to 0 too, but the fail bit and eof bit are both ok. I'm running crazy over this, need some help ...

• Referencing Excel Sheets with JET Driver Sheets Are Duplicated with Underscores

  I'm referencing an excel document with the JET database driver, which was working just fine until one day the application failed. Upon further investigation I noticed that the tabs were duplicated in some instances (all tabs actually) - i.e. Tab1$ and Tab1$_. I've researched this issue and found that it is caused by the user applying a filter. Now the filters have been removed, no special formatting, frozen panes, or print formats, but still I have these tabs duplicated. Normally I'd code around this, but since we're in a code freeze I need to come up with an Excel based solution. I want to get rid of those crazy underscored tab names / reverences. I could probably run a program to clean up the file if necessary, to send it back to the users, but I want to explore Excel options first. Thoughts? I have Excel 2010, and access to any other version as well.

• NSURL not instantiating properly

  Hi, I am new to IPhone developing. I have got very strange issue with NSURL which is driving me crazy. I want to instantiate NSURL object to use it in loading image. But instantiation never happens in proper way. It always says my url in invalid. Basically I use code like below: NSString *str = @"http://google.com"; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:str]; but I also have tried a lot of different modifications (with CFStringRef + CFURLCreateStringByAddingPercentEscapes and so on). All of them are not working for me. In debugger url is set to "Invalid". What it could be? I don't think this is algorithmic or environment issue. It could be about some settings? Have anyone any idea of what happens?

• How to find control points for a BezierSegment given Start, End, and 2 Intersection Pts in C# - AKA

  Hi, I've been struggling looking for an understandable way to do this. I have four points, a StartPt, EndPoint, and Intersection points to represent the peak and valley in the bezier. The BezierSegment in C# requires start, controlPoint 1, controlPoint 2, endpoint - however I don't have any control points I only have these two points that lie along the bezier curves (i'm calling them intersection points above)... how can I calculate the two control points? Thanks in advance, this has been driving me crazy. There's some kind of explanation here: http://www.tinaja.com/glib/nubz4pts1.pdf but it's written in postscript and that language makes no sense to me at all - it's over my head.
