  • How can I disable Lumension Sanctuary

    I'm an administrator on my computer but I can't work out how to uninstall/disable Lumension Sanctuary. There is no Uninstall button in the uninstall programs list. I've disabled the service (Sanctuary command and control) but it's had no effect. Any ideas? I'm on Windows XP BTW.

    Is it possible to limit a user to a particular host, using the Resource Quota Configuration option in qmon for Sun Grid Engine? I'm thinking of a line to the effect of: { ... limit users {john} to hostname=compute-1-1.local } The documentation mentions built in resource types: slots, arch, mem_total, num_proc, swap_total, and the ability to make custom types. Details: SGE 6.1u5 on Rocks update: The above rule seems to be valid, since using an unknown hostname mangling the resource name 'hostname' both cause errors

  • Logitech Media Elite Func button

    I have the aforementioned keyboard, and occasionally the "Func" key will get unpressed. It gets especially annoying when I try to rename a file, and start winword by accident, or try to refresh a page, and nothing happens (It's the undo - no effect inside a browser usually). I know I can rebind those keys to just do nothing, but I just wanted to know why does the func mode changes by itself? Can it be something with power management/screen saver?

  • my mouse scroll wheel doesn't scroll

    It's only a minor thing but i can't solve it. I have a ps2 mouse on win xp sp3. the wheel has stopped scrolling in all apps however in apps that support it i can click the wheel and bring up the scrolling four way arrows and scroll that way. I've tried uninstalling the drivers and changing the wheel settings but to no effect. It obviously recognises the wheel since i can click it. Any ideas super users?!

  • Question about network topology and routing performance

    Hello I am currently working on a uni project about routing protocols and network performance, one of the criteria i was going to test under was to see what effect lan topology has, ie workstations arranged in mesh, star, ring etc, but i am having doubts as to whether that would have any affect on the routing performance thus would be useless to do, rather i'm thinking it would be better to test under the topology of the routers themselves, ie routers arranged in either star, mesh ring etc. I would appreciate some feedback on this as I am rather confused.     once in a while, the screen brightness stops responding to any reason, and stays on full brightness.. for those of you that have HP Envy, you know what this means... battery suicide. the FN+* controls don't work. i also tried going in to power settings and adjusting all modes brightness to low wend of spectrum, after saving, it has no effect.. i suppose i could try rebooting as i always just put my laptop to sleep :/ anyone came across this ?

  • Windows 7: Menu 'New->Text document' is missing, when not admin user

    Hi, when I'm logged in as a user that is not member of the administrator group the entry to create a new textfile is missing from the right click "New" menu. If I give the user admin rights or start the explorer with admin rights the "New - text document" menu entry magically appears. As far as I can see the registry entries are correct. Anybody got a solution for that side effect of beeing a normal user in windows?? Regards

  • Synergy on Linux and Linux

    Using Synergy-plus-1.3.4 on Gentoo Linux kernel 2.6.36-tuxonice-r3. Using SHIFT+CAPS to change keyboard layout on BOTH server and client boxes. Works perfectly if change layout using attached keyboard. But when using synergy keyboard (moved mouse from server screen to client and changing with SHIFT+CAPS) it has no effect. Synergy is just amazing thing exception this small issue which I'm assured is solvable. Please, gimme some hint.

  • Make backup image (.tib/.vhd) as my main operating system?

    My old hard drive is dying so I want to move my Windows 7 operating system to another hard drive. They say cloning using Acronis would do the trick, but for some reason it refuses to work. I also tried EASEUS Todo Backup, but it doesn't work either. Can you recommend some suggestions on how to transfer my operating system? I heard about converting .tib to .vhd and then booting from it, but does that achieve the same effect as cloning?

Every time I connect to these eg. every time I open Outlook I am prompted to supply username and password in a "Connect to"-dialog and the "Remember password" option has no effect.     I am looking at the following two drives for a RAID device, which will be streaming normal things but also a lot of video: Seagate Constellation ES.3 ST4000NM0033 - hard drive - 4 TB - SATA-600 TOSHIBA DT01ACA300 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Will the 128 MB cache on the Seagate have an effect in my described scenario, compared to the 64 MB on the Toshiba? If so, what sort of difference can I expect? I'm using a qnap device, if that matters.

  • Adding to App Paths for 'Run' as a non-admin

    Is there a way to add a new App Path (for adding commands to Start-Run) without needing Admin? With admin, you can add an App Path to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths. I tried adding one under HKCU with no effect. I've added a new (user-writable) location to my user's PATH environment variable which lets me launch things from Start-Run, but the nerd in me still wants to know about the App Paths.

    I have issues with slow internet and by changing mtu works fine for me. I use Ubuntu 9.10 64bit system. I have dynamic ip address setup All the time after system bootup, I need to do the following command to make mtu setting take effect. sudo ifconfig eth0 mtu 1492 Are there any way I can set it up using startup program. As you know, sudo prompt me root password.

What am I doing wrong here? Update 1: After doing a make clean and make distclean, I've reconfigured with the same parameters as above without any effect. The config.log is at Pastebin. Update 2: Modifying the LD_LIBRARY_PATH had no effect on the lib-deps of mod_ssl.so. UPDATE 3: I've compiled and recompiled many times, and verified with ldconfig that the OpenSSL libs dir is in my path, and included in ld.so.conf. Still cannot get httpd/mod_ssl to load the library at runtime.

  • /etc/inputrc does not seem to be recognized as user on Ubuntu 8.04.2 LTS

    On a new installation of Ubuntu 8.04.2 LTS, logging in as a standard user does not maintain the keybindings (whether through sudo su - or direct from ssh). As the root user everything is fine and /root/.inputrc does not exist (only /etc/inputrc) which has its default settings. In addition setting a ~/.bashrc and ~/.profile to the same as the root user (and chown'ing to user:user) has no effect. Am I missing something here?
