  • Bluetooth not really "turning on" on a Sony Vaio VPCEG

    On a Sony Vaio VPCEG, bluetooth is not working properly: The gnome-shell bluetooth indicator (at the main bar) shows the bluetooth is on, but when I try to switch visibility on it simply doesn't turn on. When I open the bluetooth configuration dialog, the on/off indicator shows me the bluetooth is off. And when I try to turn it on it simply does not turn on.   • Large concurrent user performance issues for Apache + mod_jk + GlassFish v3.1 clusters

    I am running a java ee 6 ear application on a GlassFish v3.1 ( 2 clusters with 2 instances each) load balanced by an Apache v2.2 with mod_jk - all on the same server (Windows Server 2003 R2, Intel Xeon CPU x5670 @2.93Ghz, 6GB RAM, 2 cpus). The web application is accessed by around ~100 users. When they all try to access it at the same time every morning ~8am, the response is very slow while trying to access the main jsf home page. Apart from that I have seen the CPU usage spike upto 99% by the httpd process during the day frequently and I start seeing errors in the mod_jk.log file.   • Unable to use TL-WN821N

    Hi, I got a TP-LINK USB wireless module - TL-WN821N, using Ubuntu 10.4 (same problems were also seen in 10.10). From everything I've read online, the usb should work just fine, since the Atheros ar9170 is built into the kernel. However, when I plug it in, it is detected as a USB device, but there is no wlan associated with it, and basically - nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong? what should I do so that the Atheros driver is associated with this device? btw, on Windows it works fine (with the drivers).   • Is it risky to install KDE on Ubuntu alongside Unity and Gnome?

    The last time I installed KDE and Gnome on the same OS (Opensuse 12.1), GDM and KDM started conflicting and they both stopped working properly and I was plagued with applications from both environments till the point the applications overview in gnome was flooded with useless KDE trash. Moreover, I still had parts of the KDE desktop appearing when I'm running Gnome (such as the password manager and kde fonts and some apps refused to give up the oxygen theme). If I install the plasma-desktop package on Ubuntu, am I at risk of having such issues? I just want KDE with the bare minimum number of applications; just the necessary ones to make things work. I'd rather not have dolphin installed either. Also, is it all right to install the kde-standard pack? Or should I just stick to the plasma-desktop pack?
