  • Transportation Web App - utilizing google or bing map api

    I am working on a transportation web app and I am having a bit of a problem. First, I want to be able to define a shipping corridor, say like I-95 between Baltimore MD and Richmond VA. And store what parameters I need to define this route. Users will then use a web interface and can select various routes, in this case, I-95. Vendors will be posting constantly changing pickup locations in the application database which have a shelf life of about 2 days. Some of these locations maybe along this route. I am storing the LAT and LONG for the specific location right now. If any of these points ARE along or within 2 mile of the route (just off the highway basically - the ideal check would based on an actual highway exit but at this point anything would work), I want them to show up in my search results. Any ideas or suggestions?

    I found the following statement: Map is an object that stores key/volume pairs. Given a key, you can find its value. Keys must be unique, but values may be duplicated. For example I have just one key/value pair (3,4). And now I put a new pair (3,5). It will remove the old pair. Right? But if I put (2,4) instead of (3,4) I will add a new pair of key/value to the HashMap. Right?

    Hi all, I am trying to get started with JSON in Python, but it seems that I misunderstand something in the JSON concept. I followed the google api example, which works fine. But when I change the code to a lower level in the JSON response (as shown below, where I try to get access to the location), I get the following error message for code below: Traceback (most recent call last): File "geoCode.py", line 11, in test = json.dumps([s['location'] for s in jsonResponse['results']], indent=3) KeyError: 'location' How can I get access to lower information level in the JSON file in python? Do I have to go to a higher level and search the result string? That seems very weird to me?     Hi, I am trying to read an XSLT file from disk in my ASP.Net MVC controller. What I am doing is the following: string filepath = HttpContext.Request.PhysicalApplicationPath; filepath += "/Content/Xsl/pubmed.xslt"; string xsl = System.IO.File.ReadAllText(filepath); However, half way down this thread on forums.asp.net there is the following quote HttpContext.Current is evil and if you use it anywhere in your mvc app you are doing something wrong because you do not need it. Whilst I am not using "Current", I am wondering what is the best way to determine the absolute physical path of a file in MVC? For some reason (I don't know why!) HttpContext doesn't feel right for me. Is there a better (or recommended/best practice) way of reading files from disk in ASP.Net MVC? Thanks for your help, Robin

    I am creating a modular ASP.NET MVC application using areas. In short, I have created a greedy route that captures all routes beginning with {application}/{*catchAll}. Here is the action: // get /application/index public ActionResult Index(string application, object catchAll) { // forward to partial request to return partial view ViewData["partialRequest"] = new PartialRequest(catchAll); // this gets called in the view page and uses a partial request class to return a partial view } Example: The Url "/Application/Accounts/LogOn" will then cause the Index action to pass "/Accounts/LogOn" into the PartialRequest, but as a string value. // partial request constructor public PartialRequest(object routeValues) { RouteValueDictionary = new RouteValueDictionary(routeValues); } In this case, the route value dictionary will not return any values for the routeData, whereas if I specify a route in the Index Action: ViewData["partialRequest"] = new PartialRequest(new { controller = "accounts", action = "logon" }); It works, and the routeData values contains a "controller" key and an "action" key; whereas before, the keys are empty, and therefore the rest of the class wont work. So my question is, how can I convert the "/Accounts/LogOn" in the catchAll to "new { controller = "accounts", action = "logon" }"??   • How to map Duration type with JPA

    I have a property field in a class that is of type javax.xml.datatype.Duration. It basically represents a time span (e.g. 4 hours and 34 minutes). JPA is telling me it is an invalid type, which doesn't shock me. Whats a good solution this? I could implement my own Duration class, but I don't know how to get JPA to "accept" it as a datatype.

  • How to get the equivalent of the accuracy in Google Map Geocoder V3

    Hi, I want to get geocode from google, and I used to do it with the V2 of the API. Google send in the json a pretty good information, the accuracy, reference here : http://code.google.com/intl/fr-FR/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/v2/reference.html#GGeoAddressAccuracy In V3, Google doesn't seem to send me exactly the same information. There is the array "adresse_component", which seem bigger if the accuracy is better, but not exactly. For example, I have a request accuracy to the street number, the array is of size 8. Another query is accuracy to the route, so less accuracy, but the array is style of size 8, as there is a row 'sublocality', which not appear in the first case. Ok, for a result, Google send a data 'types', which have the 'best' accuracy. This types are here : http://code.google.com/intl/fr-FR/apis/maps/documentation/geocoding/#Types But, there is no real order, and if I wan't the result better than postal_code, I have no clue to how to do that. So, how can I get this equivalent of the V2 accuracy, whithout some dumb and horrible code ?

  • Webapp: safetly update a shared List/Map in the AppContext

    I've Lists and Maps in my WebAppContext. Most of the time these are only read by multiple Threads but sometimes there's the need to update or add some data. I'm wondering what's the best way to do this without incurring in a ConcurrentModificationException. I think that using CopyOnWriteArrayList I can achieve what I want in terms of - I do not have to sync on every read operation- I can safety update the list while other threads are reading it. Is this the best solution? What about Maps?

    Hi, I'm trying to complete the Android MapView tutorial @ www.developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/hello-mapview.html I think I've done the entire thing correctly but I'm getting an error message in Eclipse. I'm sure why. The problematic line of code is private ArrayList<OverlayItem> mOverlays = new ArrayList<OverlayItem>(); I'm relatively new to Java but I've gone through the forums of different things and I really have no idea on this one.     I am a beginner interested in Haskell, and I have been trying to implement the flatmap (=) on my own to better understand it. Currently I have flatmap :: (t -> a) -> [t] -> [a] flatmap _ [] = [] flatmap f (x:xs) = f x : flatmap f xs which implements the "map" part but not the "flat". Most of the modifications I make result in the disheartening and fairly informationless Occurs check: cannot construct the infinite type: a = [a] When generalising the type(s) for `flatmap' error. What am I missing?

I run my view with this elapsed_time?startkey=["123"]&endkey=["123",{}]&group=true&group_level=1 and here is my reduce function, the intention is to reduce the output to get the earliest and latest timestamps and return the difference between them and now function(keys,values,rereduce) { var now = new Date().valueOf(); var first = Number.MIN_VALUE; var last = Number.MAX_VALUE; if (rereduce) { first = Math.max(first,values[0].first); last = Math.min(last,values[0].last); } else { first = keys[0][0][1]; last = keys[keys.length-1][0][1]; } return {first:now - first, last:now - last}; } and when processing a query it constantly raises the following execption: function raised exception (new TypeError("keys has no properties", "", 1)) I am making sure not to reference keys inside my rereduce block. Why does this function constantly raise this exception?

  • Suggestions on how to map from Domain (ORM) objects to Data Transfer Objects (DTO)

    The current system that I am working on makes use of Castle Activerecord to provide ORM (Object Relational Mapping) between the Domain objects and the database. This is all well and good and at most times actually works well! The problem comes about with Castle Activerecords support for asynchronous execution, well, more specifically the SessionScope that manages the session that objects belong to. Long story short, bad stuff happens! We are therefore looking for a way to easily convert (think automagically) from the Domain objects (who know that a DB exists and care) to the DTO object (who know nothing about the DB and care not for sessions, mapping attributes or all thing ORM). Does anyone have suggestions on doing this. For the start I am looking for a basic One to One mapping of object. Domain object Person will be mapped to say PersonDTO. I do not want to do this manually since it is a waste. Obviously reflection comes to mind, but I am hoping with some of the better IT knowledge floating around this site that "cooler" will be suggested. Oh, I am working in C#, the ORM objects as said before a mapped with Castle ActiveRecord. Example code: By @ajmastrean's request I have linked to an example that I have (badly) mocked together. The example has a capture form, capture form controller, domain objects, activerecord repository and an async helper. It is slightly big (3MB) because I included the ActiveRecored dll's needed to get it running. You will need to create a database called ActiveRecordAsync on your local machine or just change the .config file. Basic details of example: The Capture Form The capture form has a reference to the contoller private CompanyCaptureController MyController { get; set; } On initialise of the form it calls MyController.Load() private void InitForm () { MyController = new CompanyCaptureController(this); MyController.Load(); } This will return back to a method called LoadComplete() public void LoadCompleted (Company loadCompany) { _context.Post(delegate { CurrentItem = loadCompany; bindingSource.DataSource = CurrentItem; bindingSource.ResetCurrentItem(); //TOTO: This line will thow the exception since the session scope used to fetch loadCompany is now gone. grdEmployees.DataSource = loadCompany.Employees; }, null); } } this is where the "bad stuff" occurs, since we are using the child list of Company that is set as Lazy load. The Controller The controller has a Load method that was called from the form, it then calls the Asyc helper to asynchronously call the LoadCompany method and then return to the Capture form's LoadComplete method. public void Load () { new AsyncListLoad<Company>().BeginLoad(LoadCompany, Form.LoadCompleted); } The LoadCompany() method simply makes use of the Repository to find a know company. public Company LoadCompany() { return ActiveRecordRepository<Company>.Find(Setup.company.Identifier); } The rest of the example is rather generic, it has two domain classes which inherit from a base class, a setup file to instert some data and the repository to provide the ActiveRecordMediator abilities.

  • Linux - How do i know the block map of the given file and/or the free space map of the partition.

    Hello, I am on Linux and need to know either of the two things: 1) If i have a regular file on some file system on a partition under Linux is there a way to know the set of the physical blocks that this file occupies on the drive from user space? Or at least the set of the file system's clusters? 2) Is there a way to get the same information about the whole free space of the given file system? In both cases i understand that if there is any possible way to extract this info it will probably be totally unsafe and racy (anything could happen to these set of blocks between the time i see them and act on them somehow). I also really don't want an implementation that will have to know a lot about every filesystem.

    I have MainDB database and unknown number (at compile time) of UserDB_1, ..., UserDB_N databases. MainDB contains names of those UserDB databases in some table (new UserDB can be created at runtime). All UserDB have exactly the same table names and fields. How to handle such situation in Hibernate? (database structure cannot be changed). Currently I am planning to create generic User classes not mapped to anything and just use native SQL for all queries: session.createSQLQuery("select * from " + db + ".user where id=1") .setResultTransformer(Transformers.aliasToBean(User.class)); Is there anything better I can do? Ideally I would want to have mappings for UserDB tables and relations and use HQL on required database.

I have 2 options what to do, Option 1, Saving the codeId from coupons table into the codeId of users table like 1,2,3,4,5, Option 2 To make a new row into the coupons table and to connect the user to the code with adding another field in the coupon table userId and putting into it the user which has added the coupon his userId of the users table, So what of the two options is better to do?
