  • What is the Simplest Possible Payment Gateway to Implement? (using Django)

    - by b14ck
    I'm developing a web application that will require users to either make one time deposits of money into their account, or allow users to sign up for recurring billing each month for a certain amount of money. I've been looking at various payment gateways, but most (if not all) of them seem complex and difficult to get working. I also see no real active Django projects which offer simple views for making payments. Ideally, I'd like to use something like Amazon FPS, so that I can see online transaction logs, refund money, etc., but I'm open to other things. I just want the EASIEST possible payment gateway to integrate with my site. I'm not looking for anything fancy, whatever does the job, and requires < 10 hours to get working from start to finish would be perfect. I'll give answer points to whoever can point out a good one. Thanks!

  • Saving a remote image with cURL?

    - by thebluefox
    Morning all, Theres a few questions around this but none that really answer my question, as far as I ca understand. Basically I have a GD script that deals with resizing and caching images on our server, but I need to do the same with images stored on a remote server. So, I'm wanting to save the image locally, then resize and display it as normal. I've got this far... $file_name_array = explode('/', $filename); $file_name_array_r = array_reverse($file_name_array); $save_to = 'system/cache/remote/'.$file_name_array_r[1].'-'.$file_name_array_r[0]; $ch = curl_init($filename); $fp = fopen($save_to, "wb"); // set URL and other appropriate options $options = array(CURLOPT_FILE => $fp, CURLOPT_HEADER => 0, CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION => 1, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT => 60); // 1 minute timeout (should be enough) curl_setopt_array($ch, $options); curl_exec($ch); curl_close($ch); fclose($fp); This creates the image file, but does not copy it accross? Am I missing the point? Cheers guys.

  • How can one manage to fully use the newly enhanced Parallelism features in .NET 4.0?

    - by Will Marcouiller
    I am pretty much interested into using the newly enhanced Parallelism features in .NET 4.0. I have also seen some possibilities of using it in F#, as much as in C#. Despite, I can only see what PLINQ has to offer with, for example, the following: var query = from c in Customers.AsParallel() where (c.Name.Contains("customerNameLike") select c; There must for sure be some other use of this parallelism thing. Have you any other examples of using it? Is this particularly turned toward PLINQ, or are there other usage as easy as PLINQ? Thanks! =)

  • function taking in an input image and different kernel size

    - by drifterOcean19
    I have this filtering function that takes an input image, performs convolution using a given kernel, and returns the resulting image. However, I can't seem to work it out how to make it takes different kernel sizes.For example instead of pre-defined 3x3 kernel as below in the code, it could instead take 5x5 or 7x7. and then the user could input the type of kernel/filter they want(Depending on the intended effect). I can't seem to put my head around it. i'm quite new to matlab. function [newImg] = kernelFunc(imgB) img=imread(imgB); figure,imshow(img); img2=zeros(size(img)+2); newImg=zeros(size(img)); for rgb=1:3 for x=1:size(img,1) for y=1:size(img,2) img2(x+1,y+1,rgb)=img(x,y,rgb); end end end for rgb=1:3 for i= 1:size(img2,1)-2 for j=1:size(img2,2)-2 window=zeros(9,1); inc=1; for x=1:3 for y=1:3 window(inc)=img2(i+x-1,j+y-1,rgb); inc=inc+1; end end kernel=[1;2;1;2;4;2;1;2;1]/16; med=window.*kernel; disp(med); med=sum(med); med=floor(med); newImg(i,j,rgb)=med; end end end newImg=uint8(newImg); figure,imshow(newImg); end

  • Thread management advice - Is TPL a good idea?

    - by Ian
    I'm hoping to get some advice on the use of thread managment and hopefully the task parallel library, because I'm not sure I've been going down the correct route. Probably best is that I give an outline of what I'm trying to do. Given a Problem I need to generate a Solution using a heuristic based algorithm. I start of by calculating a base solution, this operation I don't think can be parallelised so we don't need to worry about. Once the inital solution has been generated, I want to trigger n threads, which attempt to find a better solution. These threads need to do a couple of things: They need to be initalized with a different 'optimization metric'. In other words they are attempting to optimize different things, with a precedence level set within code. This means they all run slightly different calculation engines. I'm not sure if I can do this with the TPL.. If one of the threads finds a better solution that the currently best known solution (which needs to be shared across all threads) then it needs to update the best solution, and force a number of other threads to restart (again this depends on precedence levels of the optimization metrics). I may also wish to combine certain calculations across threads (e.g. keep a union of probabilities for a certain approach to the problem). This is probably more optional though. The whole system needs to be thread safe obviously and I want it to be running as fast as possible. I tried quite an implementation that involved managing my own threads and shutting them down etc, but it started getting quite complicated, and I'm now wondering if the TPL might be better. I'm wondering if anyone can offer any general guidance? Thanks...

    I am trying to update one common dictionary through multiple processes. Could you please help me find out what is the problem with this code? I get the following output: inside function {1: 1, 2: -1} comes here inside function {1: 0, 2: 2} comes here {1: 0, 2: -1} Thanks. from multiprocessing import Lock, Process, Manager l= Lock() def computeCopyNum(test,val): l.acquire() test[val]=val print "inside function" print test l.release() return a=dict({1: 0, 2: -1}) procs=list() for i in range(1,3): p = Process(target=computeCopyNum, args=(a,i)) procs.append(p) p.start() for p in procs: p.join() print "comes here" print a

  • Data not displayed first time in android after copying the file from assets to data folder

    - by Thinkcomplete
    Description I have used the code tip from http://www.reigndesign.com/blog/using-your-own-sqlite-database-in-android-applications/ to copy a pre-filled data file to the target and handled this in a asynch task Problem : On starting the application it gives error and shuts down first time, starting again without any change it works perfectly fine. So first time after the file is copied, the error comes but after that no issues. Please help Code attached:.. private class CopyDatabase extends AsyncTask<String, Void, Boolean> { private final ProgressDialog dialog = new ProgressDialog(BabyNames.this); protected void onPreExecute() { this.dialog.setMessage("Loading..."); this.dialog.show(); } @Override protected Boolean doInBackground(String... params) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub try { namesDBSQLHelper.createDatabase(); return null; } catch(IOException ioe){ ioe.printStackTrace(); } return null; } protected void onPostExecute(final Boolean success){ if (this.dialog.isShowing()){ this.dialog.dismiss(); } } }

  • I/O Asynchronous Completion

    - by lockedscope
    In the following, it is said that an I/O handle must be associated with the thread pool but i could not find where in the given example an handle is associated with the thread. Which function or code helps to bind the file handle in that example? Using asynchronous I/O completion events, a thread from the thread pool processes data only when the data is received, and once the data has been processed, the thread returns to the thread pool. To make an asynchronous I/O call, an operating-system I/O handle must be associated with the thread pool and a callback method must be specified. When the I/O operation completes, a thread from the thread pool invokes the callback method. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa720215(VS.71).aspx

  • how to set the output image use com.android.camera.action.CROP

    - by adi.zean
    I have code to crop an image, like this : public void doCrop(){ Intent intent = new Intent("com.android.camera.action.CROP"); intent.setType("image/"); List<ResolveInfo> list = getPackageManager().queryIntentActivities(intent,0); int size = list.size(); if (size == 0 ){ Toast.makeText(this, "Cant find crop app").show(); return; } else{ intent.setData(selectImageUri); intent.putExtra("outputX", 300); intent.putExtra("outputY", 300); intent.putExtra("aspectX", 1); intent.putExtra("aspectY", 1); intent.putExtra("scale", true); intent.putExtra("return-data", true); if (size == 1) { Intent i = new Intent(intent); ResolveInfo res = list.get(0); i.setComponent(new ComponentName(res.activityInfo.packageName, res.activityInfo.name)); startActivityForResult(i, CROP_RESULT); } } } public void onActivityResult (int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent dara){ if (resultCode == RESULT_OK){ if (requestCode == CROP_RESULT){ Bundle extras = data.getExtras(); if (extras != null){ bmp = extras.getParcelable("data"); } File f = new File(selectImageUri.getPath()); if (f.exists()) f.delete(); Intent inten3 = new Intent(this, tabActivity.class); startActivity(inten3); } } } from what i have read, the code intent.putExtra("outputX", 300); intent.putExtra("outputY", 300); is use to set the resolution of crop result, but why i can't get the result image resolution higer than 300x300? when i set the intent.putExtra("outputX", 800); intent.putExtra("outputY", 800); the crop function has no result or crash, any idea for this situation? the log cat say "! ! !   • C++ converting binary(P5) image to ascii(P2) image (.pgm)

    - by tubby
    I am writing a simple program to convert grayscale binary (P5) to grayscale ascii (P2) but am having trouble reading in the binary and converting it to int. #include <iostream> #include <fstream> #include <sstream> using namespace::std; int usage(char* arg) { // exit program cout << arg << ": Error" << endl; return -1; } int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { int rows, cols, size, greylevels; string filetype; // open stream in binary mode ifstream istr(argv[1], ios::in | ios::binary); if(istr.fail()) return usage(argv[1]); // parse header istr >> filetype >> rows >> cols >> greylevels; size = rows * cols; // check data cout << "filetype: " << filetype << endl; cout << "rows: " << rows << endl; cout << "cols: " << cols << endl; cout << "greylevels: " << greylevels << endl; cout << "size: " << size << endl; // parse data values int* data = new int[size]; int fail_tracker = 0; // find which pixel failing on for(int* ptr = data; ptr < data+size; ptr++) { char t_ch; // read in binary char istr.read(&t_ch, sizeof(char)); // convert to integer int t_data = static_cast<int>(t_ch); // check if legal pixel if(t_data < 0 || t_data > greylevels) { cout << "Failed on pixel: " << fail_tracker << endl; cout << "Pixel value: " << t_data << endl; return usage(argv[1]); } // if passes add value to data array *ptr = t_data; fail_tracker++; } // close the stream istr.close(); // write a new P2 binary ascii image ofstream ostr("greyscale_ascii_version.pgm"); // write header ostr << "P2 " << rows << cols << greylevels << endl; // write data int line_ctr = 0; for(int* ptr = data; ptr < data+size; ptr++) { // print pixel value ostr << *ptr << " "; // endl every ~20 pixels for some readability if(++line_ctr % 20 == 0) ostr << endl; } ostr.close(); // clean up delete [] data; return 0; } sample image - Pulled this from an old post. Removed the comment within the image file as I am not worried about this functionality now. When compiled with g++ I get output: $> ./a.out a.pgm filetype: P5 rows: 1024 cols: 768 greylevels: 255 size: 786432 Failed on pixel: 1 Pixel value: -110 a.pgm: Error The image is a little duck and there's no way the pixel value can be -110...where am I going wrong? Thanks.

  • Working with images in Scala

    - by dbyrne
    I am generating large PNG files from a Scala program. Currently, I am doing it the same way I would do it in java. I am creating a new BufferedImage and setting each pixel to the correct color. This works fine, but I am wondering if there are any good libraries for working with images in Scala? I am looking for something like Ruby's RMagick library.

  • What is the "task" in twitter Storm parallelism

    - by John Wang
    I'm trying to learn twitter storm by following the great article "Understanding the parallelism of a Storm topology" However I'm a bit confused by the concept of "task". Is a task an running instance of the component(spout or bolt) ? A executor having multiple tasks actually is saying the same component is executed for multiple times by the executor, am I correct ? Moreover in a general parallelism sense, Storm will spawn a dedicated thread(executor) for a spout or bolt, but what is contributed to the parallelism by an executor(thread) having multiple tasks ? I think having multiple tasks in a thread, since a thread executes sequentially, only make the thread a kind of "cached" resource, which avoids spawning new thread for next task run. Am I correct? I may clear those confusion by myself after taking more time to investigate, but you know, we both love stackoverflow ;-) Thanks in advance.

  • What's the fastest way to strip and replace a document of high unicode characters using Python?

    - by Rhubarb
    I am looking to replace from a large document all high unicode characters, such as accented Es, left and right quotes, etc., with "normal" counterparts in the low range, such as a regular 'E', and straight quotes. I need to perform this on a very large document rather often. I see an example of this in what I think might be perl here: http://www.designmeme.com/mtplugins/lowdown.txt Is there a fast way of doing this in Python without using s.replace(...).replace(...).replace(...)...? I've tried this on just a few characters to replace and the document stripping became really slow.

  • "painting" one array onto another using python / numpy

    - by Nate
    I'm writing a library to process gaze tracking in Python, and I'm rather new to the whole numpy / scipy world. Essentially, I'm looking to take an array of (x,y) values in time and "paint" some shape onto a canvas at those coordinates. For example, the shape might be a blurred circle. The operation I have in mind is more or less identical to using the paintbrush tool in Photoshop. I've got an interative algorithm that trims my "paintbrush" to be within the bounds of my image and adds each point to an accumulator image, but it's slow(!), and it seems like there's probably a fundamentally easier way to do this. Any pointers as to where to start looking?

  • How do I measure distances in an image?

    - by Ram Bhat
    Let's say we have an image like so Let's say we've already used filters and an edge detection algorithm in this pic. Now my goal is to measure distances (NOT actual distances, distance can be in any arbitrary unit) . eg: How do I find the length of the hall? (until the window) Or the height of the bookshelves? How exactly do you place the "scale" and measure. I'm looking for ideas. However it would help if the answers were in terms of OpenCV.

  • Replacing all GUIDs in a file with new GUIDs from the command line

    - by Josh Petrie
    I have a file containing a large number of occurrences of the string Guid="GUID HERE" (where GUID HERE is a unique GUID at each occurrence) and I want to replace every existing GUID with a new unique GUID. This is on a Windows development machine, so I can generate unique GUIDs with uuidgen.exe (which produces a GUID on stdout every time it is run). I have sed and such available (but no awk oddly enough). I am basically trying to figure out if it is possible (and if so, how) to use the output of a command-line program as the replacement text in a sed substitution expression so that I can make this replacement with a minimum of effort on my part. I don't need to use sed -- if there's another way to do it, such as some crazy vim-fu or some other program, that would work as well -- but I'd prefer solutions that utilize a minimal set of *nix programs since I'm not really on *nix machines. To be clear, if I have a file like this: etc etc Guid="A" etc etc Guid="B" I would like it to become this: etc etc Guid="C" etc etc Guid="D" where A, B, C, D are actual GUIDs, of course. (for example, I have seen xargs used for things similar to this, but it's not available on the machines I need this to run on, either. I could install it if it's really the only way, although I'd rather not)

  • Understanding The Convolution Matrix

    - by Ryan Naddy
    I am learning about the Convolution Matrix, and I understand how they work, but I don't understand how to know before hand what the output of a Matrix will look like. For example lets say I want to add a blur to an image, I could guess 10,000+ different combinations of numbers before I get the correct one. I do know though that this formula will give me a blur effect, but I have no idea why. float[] sharpen = new float[] { 1/9f, 1/9f, 1/9f, 1/9f, 1/9f, 1/9f, 1/9f, 1/9f, 1/9f }; Can anyone either explain to me how this works or point me to some article, that explains this? I would like to know before hand what a possible output of the matrix will be without guessing. Basically I would like to know why do we put that number in the filed, and why not some other number?

  • minimum enclosing rectangle of fixed aspect ratio

    - by Ramya Narasimha
    I have an Image with many rectangles at different positions in the image and of different sizes (both overlapping and non-overlapping). I also have a non-negative scores associated with each of these rectangles. My problem now is to find one larger rectangle *of a fixed (given) aspect ratio* that encloses as many of these rectangles as possible. I am looking for an algorithm to do this, if anyone has a solution, even a partial one it would be helpful. Please note that the positions of the rectangles in the image is fixed and cannot be moved around and there is no orientation issue as all of them are upright.

  • how many processors can I get in a block on cuda GPU?

    - by Vickey
    hi all, I have two questions to ask 1) If I create only one block of threads in cuda and execute the my parallel program on it then is it possible that more than one processors would be given to single block so that my program get some benefit of multiprocessor platform ? 2) can I synchronize the threads of different blocks ? if yes please give some hints. Thanks in advance since I know I'll get replies as always I get.

  • What hash algorithms are paralellizable? Optimizing the hashing of large files utilizing on mult-co

    - by DanO
    I'm interested in optimizing the hashing of some large files (optimizing wall clock time). The I/O has been optimized well enough already and the I/O device (local SSD) is only tapped at about 25% of capacity, while one of the CPU cores is completely maxed-out. I have more cores available, and in the future will likely have even more cores. So far I've only been able to tap into more cores if I happen to need multiple hashes of the same file, say an MD5 AND a SHA256 at the same time. I can use the same I/O stream to feed two or more hash algorithms, and I get the faster algorithms done for free (as far as wall clock time). As I understand most hash algorithms, each new bit changes the entire result, and it is inherently challenging/impossible to do in parallel. Are any of the mainstream hash algorithms parallelizable? Are there any non-mainstream hashes that are parallelizable (and that have at least a sample implementation available)? As future CPUs will trend toward more cores and a leveling off in clock speed, is there any way to improve the performance of file hashing? (other than liquid nitrogen cooled overclocking?) or is it inherently non-parallelizable?
