  • What is the status in 3D technology for TVs [closed]

    - by Eduardo Molteni
    Maybe it is off-topic for programmers.SE, but don't know where else to ask, and I trust my fellow programmers :) I've recently being lightly following new 3D technologies and I thought that glass-free 3D TV was about to take over the scene since it make much more sense to TVs (I can't imagine having glasses for all the family, kids breaking them, etc) But it seems that I'm wrong, since LG, Sony and Samsumg keep fighting over glasses (active-passive) What is the current and future status in 3D technology for TVs?

Pour le cas des smartphones depuis l'iPhone V1 en 2007, ces écrans sont faits à base du Gorilla Glass de Corning, une matière qui n'est pas non plus résistante aux chocs. • Through the Virtual Microscope–SQL Server and Hyper-V

    - by GavinPayneUK
    In my recent SQLBits conference session, Through the Virtual Looking Glass available to watch here , I spoke about monitoring SQL Server in a virtualised environment.  We looked at good and bad contention, where resource pressures which can adversely affect SQL Server might come from and most importantly how we can monitor the environment to detect them. Since then, I’ve been in discussions with some of the Microsoft product team who are focussed on optimising Windows 8 Hyper-V and SQL Server...(read more)

  • Creating a Comment Anchor

    - by John
    Hello, The function below allows a user to insert a comment into a MySQL table called "comment." Then, the file "comments2.php" displays all comments for a given submission. Right after a user submits a comment, I would like the top of the user's browser to be anchored by the comment the user just submitted. How can I do this? Thanks in advance, John The function: function show_commentbox($submissionid, $submission, $url, $submittor, $submissiondate, $countcomments, $dispurl) { echo '<form action="http://www...com/.../comments/comments2.php" method="post"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$_SESSION['loginid'].'" name="uid"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$submissionid.'" name="submissionid"> <input type="hidden" value="'.stripslashes($submission).'" name="submission"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$url.'" name="url"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$submittor.'" name="submittor"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$submissiondate.'" name="submissiondate"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$countcomments.'" name="countcomments"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$dispurl.'" name="dispurl"> <label class="addacomment" for="title">Add a comment:</label> <textarea class="checkMax" name="comment" type="comment" id="comment" maxlength="1000"></textarea> <div class="commentsubbutton"><input name="submit" type="submit" value="Submit"></div> </form> '; } The file comments2.php contains: $query = sprintf("INSERT INTO comment VALUES (NULL, %d, %d, '%s', NULL)", $uid, $subid, $comment); mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error()); $submissionid = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['submissionid']); $submissionid = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['submissionid']); $sqlStr = "SELECT comment.comment, comment.datecommented, login.username FROM comment LEFT JOIN login ON comment.loginid=login.loginid WHERE submissionid=$submissionid ORDER BY comment.datecommented ASC LIMIT 100"; $tzFrom1 = new DateTimeZone('America/New_York'); $tzTo1 = new DateTimeZone('America/Phoenix'); $result = mysql_query($sqlStr); $arr = array(); echo "<table class=\"commentecho\">"; $count = 1; while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $dt1 = new DateTime($row["datecommented"], $tzFrom1); $dt1->setTimezone($tzTo1); echo '<tr>'; echo '<td rowspan="3" class="commentnamecount">'.$count++.'.</td>'; echo '<td class="commentname2"><a href="http://www...com/.../members/index.php?profile='.$row["username"].'">'.$row["username"].'</a></td>'; echo '<td rowspan="3" class="commentname1">'.stripslashes($row["comment"]).'</td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td class="commentname2">'.$dt1->format('F j, Y').'</td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td class="commentname2a">'.$dt1->format('g:i a').'</td>'; echo '</tr>'; } echo "</table>"; The fields in the MySQL table "comment": commentid loginid submissionid comment datecommented

  • boost::function & boost::lambda again

    - by John Dibling
    Follow-up to post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2978096/using-width-precision-specifiers-with-boostformat I'm trying to use boost::function to create a function that uses lambdas to format a string with boost::format. Ultimately what I'm trying to achieve is using width & precision specifiers for strings with format. boost::format does not support the use of the * width & precision specifiers, as indicated in the docs: Width or precision set to asterisk (*) are used by printf to read this field from an argument. e.g. printf("%1$d:%2$.*3$d:%4$.*3$d\n", hour, min, precision, sec); This class does not support this mechanism for now. so such precision or width fields are quietly ignored by the parsing. so I'm trying to find other ways to accomplish the same goal. Here is what I have so far, which isn't working: #include <string> #include <boost\function.hpp> #include <boost\lambda\lambda.hpp> #include <iostream> #include <boost\format.hpp> #include <iomanip> #include <boost\bind.hpp> int main() { using namespace boost::lambda; using namespace std; boost::function<std::string(int, std::string)> f = (boost::format("%s") % boost::io::group(setw(_1*2), setprecision(_2*2), _3)).str(); std::string s = (boost::format("%s") % f(15, "Hello")).str(); return 0; } This generates many compiler errors: 1>------ Build started: Project: hacks, Configuration: Debug x64 ------ 1>Compiling... 1>main.cpp 1>.\main.cpp(15) : error C2872: '_1' : ambiguous symbol 1> could be 'D:\Program Files (x86)\boost\boost_1_42\boost/lambda/core.hpp(69) : boost::lambda::placeholder1_type &boost::lambda::`anonymous-namespace'::_1' 1> or 'D:\Program Files (x86)\boost\boost_1_42\boost/bind/placeholders.hpp(43) : boost::arg<I> `anonymous-namespace'::_1' 1> with 1> [ 1> I=1 1> ] 1>.\main.cpp(15) : error C2664: 'std::setw' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'boost::lambda::placeholder1_type' to 'std::streamsize' 1> No user-defined-conversion operator available that can perform this conversion, or the operator cannot be called 1>.\main.cpp(15) : error C2872: '_2' : ambiguous symbol 1> could be 'D:\Program Files (x86)\boost\boost_1_42\boost/lambda/core.hpp(70) : boost::lambda::placeholder2_type &boost::lambda::`anonymous-namespace'::_2' 1> or 'D:\Program Files (x86)\boost\boost_1_42\boost/bind/placeholders.hpp(44) : boost::arg<I> `anonymous-namespace'::_2' 1> with 1> [ 1> I=2 1> ] 1>.\main.cpp(15) : error C2664: 'std::setprecision' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'boost::lambda::placeholder2_type' to 'std::streamsize' 1> No user-defined-conversion operator available that can perform this conversion, or the operator cannot be called 1>.\main.cpp(15) : error C2872: '_3' : ambiguous symbol 1> could be 'D:\Program Files (x86)\boost\boost_1_42\boost/lambda/core.hpp(71) : boost::lambda::placeholder3_type &boost::lambda::`anonymous-namespace'::_3' 1> or 'D:\Program Files (x86)\boost\boost_1_42\boost/bind/placeholders.hpp(45) : boost::arg<I> `anonymous-namespace'::_3' 1> with 1> [ 1> I=3 1> ] 1>.\main.cpp(15) : error C2660: 'boost::io::group' : function does not take 3 arguments 1>.\main.cpp(15) : error C2228: left of '.str' must have class/struct/union 1>Build log was saved at "file://c:\Users\john\Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Projects\hacks\x64\Debug\BuildLog.htm" 1>hacks - 7 error(s), 0 warning(s) ========== Build: 0 succeeded, 1 failed, 0 up-to-date, 0 skipped ========== My fundamental understanding of boost's lambdas and functions is probably lacking.   • Match over multiple lines perl regular expression

This was working fine, but it doesn't seem to able to match over multiple lines any more. For example the pattern 31 31 32 32 33 31 runs over multiple lines, and the regular expression doesn't seem to catch it. I tried using /m /s pattern modifiers to ignore new lines but they didn't match it either. The only way around it I can come up with, is to read the whole file into a string using: undef $/; my $whole_file = <FH>; my $line = $whole_file; $line =~ s/(00 00 00 64)/<incr4> /g; $line =~ s/(00 00 00 65)/<incr4> /g; $line =~ s/(30 30 30 30 30 32)/<incr6ascii:999999:0>/g; $line =~ s/(31 31 32 32 33 31)/<incr6ascii:999999:0>/g; print OUTPUT $line; This works, the tags get inserted correctly, but the structure of the file is radically altered. It is all dumped out on a single line. I would like to retain the structure of the file as it appears here. Any ideas as to how I might do this? /john

  • User Getting Logged Out After Making First Comment

    - by John
    Hello, I am using a login system that works well. I am also using a comment system. The comment function does not show up unless the user is logged in (as shown in commentformonoff.php below). When a user makes a comment, the info is passed from the function "show_commentbox" to the file comments2a.php. Then, the info is passed to the file comments2.php. When the site is first pulled up on a browser, after logging in and making a comment, the user is logged out. After logging in a second time during the same browser session, the user is no longer logged out after making a comment. How can I keep the user logged in after making the first comment? Thanks in advance, John Commentformonoff.php: <?php if (!isLoggedIn()) { if (isset($_POST['cmdlogin'])) { if (checkLogin($_POST['username'], $_POST['password'])) { show_commentbox($submissionid, $submission, $url, $submittor, $submissiondate, $countcomments, $dispurl); } else { echo "<div class='logintocomment'>Login to comment</div>"; } } else { echo "<div class='logintocomment'>Login to comment</div>"; } } else { show_commentbox($submissionid, $submission, $url, $submittor, $submissiondate, $countcomments, $dispurl); } ?> Function "show_commentbox": function show_commentbox($submissionid, $submission, $url, $submittor, $submissiondate, $countcomments, $dispurl) { echo '<form action="http://www...com/.../comments/comments2a.php" method="post"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$_SESSION['loginid'].'" name="uid"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$_SESSION['username'].'" name="u"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$submissionid.'" name="submissionid"> <input type="hidden" value="'.stripslashes($submission).'" name="submission"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$url.'" name="url"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$submittor.'" name="submittor"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$submissiondate.'" name="submissiondate"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$countcomments.'" name="countcomments"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$dispurl.'" name="dispurl"> <label class="addacomment" for="title">Add a comment:</label> <textarea class="checkMax" name="comment" type="comment" id="comment" maxlength="1000"></textarea> <div class="commentsubbutton"><input name="submit" type="submit" value="Submit"></div> </form> '; } Included in comments2a.php: $uid = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['uid']); $u = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['u']); $query = sprintf("INSERT INTO comment VALUES (NULL, %d, %d, '%s', NULL)", $uid, $subid, $comment); mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error()); $lastcommentid = mysql_insert_id(); header("Location: comments2.php?submission=".$submission."&submissionid=".$submissionid."&url=".$url."&submissiondate=".$submissiondate."&comment=".$comment."&subid=".$subid."&uid=".$uid."&u=".$u."&submittor=".$submittor."&countcomments=".$countcomments."&dispurl=".$dispurl."#comment-$lastcommentid"); exit(); Included in comments2.php: if($_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD'] == "POST"){header('Location: http://www...com/.../comments/comments2.php?submission='.$submission.'&submissionid='.$submissionid.'&url='.$url.'&submissiondate='.$submissiondate.'&submittor='.$submittor.'&countcomments='.$countcomments.'&dispurl='.$dispurl.'');} $uid = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['uid']); $u = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['u']);

  • What Makes a Good Design Critic? CHI 2010 Panel Review

    - by jatin.thaker
    Author: Daniel Schwartz, Senior Interaction Designer, Oracle Applications User Experience Oracle Applications UX Chief Evangelist Patanjali Venkatacharya organized and moderated an innovative and stimulating panel discussion titled "What Makes a Good Design Critic? Food Design vs. Product Design Criticism" at CHI 2010, the annual ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems. The panelists included Janice Rohn, VP of User Experience at Experian; Tami Hardeman, a food stylist; Ed Seiber, a restaurant architect and designer; John Kessler, a food critic and writer at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution; and Larry Powers, Chef de Cuisine at Shaun's restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia. Building off the momentum of his highly acclaimed panel at CHI 2009 on what interaction design can learn from food design (for which I was on the other side as a panelist), Venkatacharya brought together new people with different roles in the restaurant and software interaction design fields. The session was also quite delicious -- but more on that later. Criticism, as it applies to food and product or interaction design, was the tasty topic for this forum and showed that strong parallels exist between food and interaction design criticism. Figure 1. The panelists in discussion: (left to right) Janice Rohn, Ed Seiber, Tami Hardeman, and John Kessler. The panelists had great insights to share from their respective fields, and they enthusiastically discussed as if they were at a casual collegial dinner. John Kessler stated that he prefers to have one professional critic's opinion in general than a large sampling of customers, however, "Web sites like Yelp get users excited by the collective approach. People are attracted to things desired by so many." Janice Rohn added that this collective desire was especially true for users of consumer products. Ed Seiber remarked that while people looked to the popular view for their target tastes and product choices, "professional critics like John [Kessler] still hold a big weight on public opinion." Chef Powers indicated that chefs take in feedback from all sources, adding, "word of mouth is very powerful. We also look heavily at the sales of the dishes to see what's moving; what's selling and thus successful." Hearing this discussion validates our design work at Oracle in that we listen to our users (our diners) and industry feedback (our critics) to ensure an optimal user experience of our products. Rohn considers that restaurateur Danny Meyer's book, Setting the Table: The Transforming Power of Hospitality in Business, which is about creating successful restaurant experiences, has many applicable parallels to user experience design. Meyer actually argues that the customer is not always right, but that "they must always feel heard." Seiber agreed, but noted "customers are not designers," and while designers need to listen to customer feedback, it is the designer's job to synthesize it. Seiber feels it's the critic's job to point out when something is missing or not well-prioritized. In interaction design, our challenges are quite similar, if not parallel. Software tasks are like puzzles that are in search of a solution on how to be best completed. As a food stylist, Tami Hardeman has the demanding and challenging task of presenting food to be as delectable as can be. To present food in its best light requires a lot of creativity and insight into consumer tastes. It's no doubt then that this former fashion stylist came up with the ultimate catch phrase to capture the emotion that clients want to draw from their users: "craveability." The phrase was a hit with the audience and panelists alike. Sometime later in the discussion, Seiber remarked, "designers strive to apply craveability to products, and I do so for restaurants in my case." Craveabilty is also very applicable to interaction design. Creating straightforward and smooth workflows for users of Oracle Applications is a primary goal for my colleagues. We want our users to really enjoy working with our products where it makes them more efficient and better at their jobs. That's our "craveability." Patanjali Venkatacharya asked the panel, "if a design's "craveability" appeals to some cultures but not to others, then what is the impact to the food or product design process?" Rohn stated that "taste is part nature and part nurture" and that the design must take the full context of a product's usage into consideration. Kessler added, "good design is about understanding the context" that the experience necessitates. Seiber remarked how important seat comfort is for diners and how the quality of seating will add so much to the complete dining experience. Sometimes if these non-food factors are not well executed, they can also take away from an otherwise pleasant dining experience. Kessler recounted a time when he was dining at a restaurant that actually had very good food, but the photographs hanging on all the walls did not fit in with the overall décor and created a negative overall dining experience. While the tastiness of the food is critical to a restaurant's success, it is a captivating complete user experience, as in interaction design, which will keep customers coming back and ultimately making the restaurant a hit. Figure 2. Patanjali Venkatacharya enjoyed the Sardinian flatbread salad. As a surprise Chef Powers brought out a signature dish from Shaun's restaurant for all the panelists to sample and critique. The Sardinian flatbread dish showcased Atlanta's taste for fresh and local produce and cheese at its finest as a salad served on a crispy flavorful flat bread. Hardeman said it could be photographed from any angle, a high compliment coming from a food stylist. Seiber really enjoyed the colors that the dish brought together and thought it would be served very well in a casual restaurant on a summer's day. The panel really appreciated the taste and quality of the different components and how the rosemary brought all the flavors together. Seiber remarked that "a lot of effort goes into the appearance of simplicity." Rohn indicated that the same notion holds true with software user interface design. A tremendous amount of work goes into crafting straightforward interfaces, including user research, prototyping, design iterations, and usability studies. Design criticism for food and software interfaces clearly share many similarities. Both areas value expert opinions and user feedback. Both areas understand the importance of great design needing to work well in its context. Last but not least, both food and interaction design criticism value "craveability" and how having users excited about experiencing and enjoying the designs is an important goal. Now if we can just improve the taste of software user interfaces, people may choose to dine on their enterprise applications over a fresh organic salad.

  • BGP path prepended route not listed anywhere

    - by Julien Vehent
    We have a simple multi-homed setup with two routers that advertise our AS to two ISP. The second ISP (ISP B) is only used for backup when ISP A goes down, so we prepended our AS 3 times on this route. I spend a couple of hours this morning poking at looking glass routers all over the internet, and none of them list our backup route with the prepended path. I checked the south african internet exchange, the london internet exchange, oregon internet exchange and a couple dozen ISPs. All of them have multiples routes through ISP A, often with 3 or 4 hops. The route through ISP B should, at least, appear somewhere and have 5 or 6 hops. But I couldn't find it anywhere. (I checked the full bgp tables on the looking glass routers, using show ip bgp 65000) My questions are: Is there a limit to the size of a route after which most routers will simply discard the route ? Is our backup route even going to work when ISP A goes down, if no router knows about it ? Our two routers are connected on iBGP. Would it be possible that the route through ISPB is not announced because the iBGP session prefers the route through ISPA ? This is what non-exist-map and advertise-map are supposed to do, but none of those are used in either routers.

  • problem processing xml in flex3

    - by john
    Hi All, First time here asking a question and still learning on how to format things better... so sorry about the format as it does not look too well. I have started learning flex and picked up a book and tried to follow the examples in it. However, I got stuck with a problem. I have a jsp page which returns xml which basically have a list of products. I am trying to parse this xml, in other words go through products, and create Objects for each product node and store them in an ArrayCollection. The problem I believe I am having is I am not using the right way of navigating through xml. The xml that is being returned from the server looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?><result type="success"> <products> <product> <id>6</id> <cat>electronics</cat> <name>Plasma Television</name> <desc>65 inch screen with 1080p</desc> <price>$3000.0</price> </product> <product> <id>7</id> <cat>electronics</cat> <name>Surround Sound Stereo</name> <desc>7.1 surround sound receiver with wireless speakers</desc> <price>$1000.0</price> </product> <product> <id>8</id> <cat>appliances</cat> <name>Refrigerator</name> <desc>Bottom drawer freezer with water and ice on the door</desc> <price>$1200.0</price> </product> <product> <id>9</id> <cat>appliances</cat> <name>Dishwasher</name> <desc>Large capacity with water saver setting</desc> <price>$500.0</price> </product> <product> <id>10</id> <cat>furniture</cat> <name>Leather Sectional</name> <desc>Plush leather with room for 6 people</desc> <price>$1500.0</price> </product> </products></result> And I have flex code that tries to iterate over products like following: private function productListHandler(e:JavaFlexStoreEvent):void { productData = new ArrayCollection(); trace(JavaServiceHandler(e.currentTarget).response); for each (var item:XML in JavaServiceHandler(e.currentTarget).response..product ) { productData.addItem( { id:item.id, item:item.name, price:item.price, description:item.desc }); } } with trace, I can see the xml being returned from the server. However, I cannot get inside the loop as if the xml was empty. In other words, JavaServiceHandler(e.currentTarget).response..product must be returning nothing. Can someone please help/point out what I could be doing wrong. My JavaServiceHandler class looks like this: package com.wiley.jfib.store.data { import com.wiley.jfib.store.events.JavaFlexStoreEvent; import flash.events.Event; import flash.events.EventDispatcher; import flash.net.URLLoader; import flash.net.URLRequest; public class JavaServiceHandler extends EventDispatcher { public var serviceURL:String = ""; public var response:XML; public function JavaServiceHandler() { } public function callServer():void { if(serviceURL == "") { throw new Error("serviceURL is a required parameter"); return; } var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, handleResponse); loader.load(new URLRequest(serviceURL)); // var httpService:HTTPService = new HTTPService(); // httpService.url = serviceURL; // httpService.resultFormat = "e4x"; // httpService.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, handleResponse); // httpService.send(); } private function handleResponse(e:Event):void { var loader:URLLoader = URLLoader(e.currentTarget); response = XML(loader.data); dispatchEvent(new JavaFlexStoreEvent(JavaFlexStoreEvent.DATA_LOADED) ); // var httpService:HTTPService = HTTPService(e.currentTarget); // response = httpService.lastResult.product; // dispatchEvent(new JavaFlexStoreEvent(JavaFlexStoreEvent.DATA_LOADED) ); } } } Even though I refer to this as mine and it is not in reality. This is from a Flex book as a code sample which does not work, go figure. Any help is appreciated. Thanks john

  • finding the best network latency between two countries

    - by Yoav Aner
    I know there are many tools to test for bandwidth and latency, but they all rely on having at least one host from which you can run those tests. I wonder whether there's an online source or some other way to guestimate the latency or speed between two countries (in general). For example, would a customer in Japan get lower latency if the server is located in Singapore or Australia? Is a user in India likely to get higher download speed from a server in the UK or in the US? Are there any online resources or some clever ways to answer those questions with a reasonable degree of accuracy? [UPDATE]: Thanks for the great suggestions from Raffael Luthiger. I didn't know about those looking glass servers. The submarine cable maps were also really cool to discover (Thanks to Jesper Mortensen). Also seems really wise if I could ask those network professional in the area for their experience, but obviously I don't have access to those. At least some of them are on SF :) However, I'm still a little unsure how to combine those resources to give me some measurements. This is the information I have: Two countries (A,B). I do have IP addresses of customers in country A (I can obtain those from the web server log files for example). Presumably I can find some looking glass servers in country B and run a trace to those IPs. What's the best measurements to use? Are there any scripts that help automate at least some of this process?

  • Table not Echoing out if another Table has a Zero value

    - by John
    Hello, The table below with mysql_query($sqlStr3) (the one with the word "Joined" in its row) does not echo if the result associated with mysql_query($sqlStr1) has a value of zero. This happens even if mysql_query($sqlStr3) returns a result. In other words, if a given loginid has an entry in the table "login", but not one in the table "submission", then the table associated with mysql_query($sqlStr3) does not echo. I don't understand why the "submission" table would have any effect on mysql_query($sqlStr3), since the $sqlStr3 only deals with another table, called "login", as seen below. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks in advance, John W. <?php echo '<div class="profilename">User Profile for </div>'; echo '<div class="profilename2">'.$profile.'</div>'; $tzFrom = new DateTimeZone('America/New_York'); $tzTo = new DateTimeZone('America/Phoenix'); $profile = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['profile']); $sqlStr = "SELECT l.username, l.loginid, s.loginid, s.submissionid, s.title, s.url, s.datesubmitted, s.displayurl FROM submission AS s INNER JOIN login AS l ON s.loginid = l.loginid WHERE l.username = '$profile' ORDER BY s.datesubmitted DESC"; $result = mysql_query($sqlStr); $arr = array(); echo "<table class=\"samplesrec1\">"; while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $dt = new DateTime($row["datesubmitted"], $tzFrom); $dt->setTimezone($tzTo); echo '<tr>'; echo '<td class="sitename3">'.$dt->format('F j, Y &\nb\sp &\nb\sp g:i a').'</a></td>'; echo '<td class="sitename1"><a href="http://www.'.$row["url"].'">'.$row["title"].'</a></td>'; echo '</tr>'; } echo "</table>"; $sqlStr1 = "SELECT l.username, l.loginid, s.loginid, s.submissionid, s.title, s.url, s.datesubmitted, s.displayurl, l.created, count(s.submissionid) countSubmissions FROM submission AS s INNER JOIN login AS l ON s.loginid = l.loginid WHERE l.username = '$profile'"; $result1 = mysql_query($sqlStr1); $arr1 = array(); echo "<table class=\"samplesrec2\">"; while ($row1 = mysql_fetch_array($result1)) { echo '<tr>'; echo '<td class="sitename5">Submissions: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;'.$row1["countSubmissions"].'</td>'; echo '</tr>'; } echo "</table>"; $sqlStr2 = "SELECT l.username, l.loginid, c.loginid, c.commentid, c.submissionid, c.comment, c.datecommented, l.created, count(c.commentid) countComments FROM comment AS c INNER JOIN login AS l ON c.loginid = l.loginid WHERE l.username = '$profile'"; $result2 = mysql_query($sqlStr2); $arr2 = array(); echo "<table class=\"samplesrec3\">"; while ($row2 = mysql_fetch_array($result2)) { echo '<tr>'; echo '<td class="sitename5">Comments: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;'.$row2["countComments"].'</td>'; echo '</tr>'; } echo "</table>"; $tzFrom3 = new DateTimeZone('America/New_York'); $tzTo3 = new DateTimeZone('America/Phoenix'); $sqlStr3 = "SELECT created, username FROM login WHERE username = '$profile'"; $result3 = mysql_query($sqlStr3); $arr3 = array(); echo "<table class=\"samplesrec4\">"; while ($row3 = mysql_fetch_array($result3)) { $dt3 = new DateTime($row3["created"], $tzFrom3); $dt3->setTimezone($tzTo3); echo '<tr>'; echo '<td class="sitename5">Joined: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;'.$dt->format('F j, Y').'</td>'; echo '</tr>'; } echo "</table>"; ?> </body> </html>

  • Is it possible to theme Windows 7 like XP?

    - by LonelyPixel
    Everybody seems to mean the window frame colour and a set of desktop background pictures when they're talking about Windows 7 themes. Does anybody remember what themes used to be in Windows XP? You could actually alter the appearance of the window frame, how close buttons and menu popups looked, put a texture on the taskbar, all those funny things. Microsoft themselves have published a number of XP themes over time (Luna on XP, Royal on MCE2005, Zune later on). I don't say that most of those and the numerous third party XP themes were beautiful or even practical. But it was possible to create something nice. In Windows 7 (I suppress the existence of Windows Vista...) such a theme could well be used to increase readability to a level before Aero Glass again. I mean, you cannot really tell whether a Glass window is active or not. I've been tweaking the colours and transparency levels a lot recently but the only safe indicator is the close button: it's red when the window is active, it's colourless otherwise. Then there's the window title. It is always painted black, on however dark a background. Again, regardless of whether the window is active or not. Turning off Aero is not an option in Windows 7 anymore. Classic design looks just ugly there. It already wasn't exactly looking good on XP with the wide start menu. So, can we increase the readability of the Windows 7 UI with themes like in XP or didn't Microsoft learn a thing since the Windows 7 Preview "Vista"?

    I have the following code: public void setContent(Importer3D importer) { if (DEBUG) { System.out.println("Initialization of Mesh's arrays"); } coords = importer.getCoords(); texCoords = importer.getTexCoords(); faces = importer.getFaces(); if (DEBUG) { System.out.println("Applying Mesh's arrays"); } mesh = new TriangleMesh(); mesh.getPoints().setAll(coords); mesh.getTexCoords().setAll(texCoords); mesh.getFaces().setAll(faces); if (DEBUG) { System.out.println("Initialization of the material"); } initMaterial(); if (DEBUG) { System.out.println("Setting the MeshView"); } meshView.setMesh(mesh); meshView.setMaterial(material); meshView.setDrawMode(DrawMode.FILL); if (DEBUG) { System.out.println("Adding to 3D scene"); } root3d.getChildren().clear(); root3d.getChildren().add(meshView); if (DEBUG) { System.out.println("3D model is ready!"); } } The Imporeter3D class part: private void load(File file) { stlLoader = new STLLoader(file); } public float[] getCoords() { return stlLoader.getCoords(); } public float[] getTexCoords() { return stlLoader.getTexCoords(); } public int[] getFaces() { return stlLoader.getFaces(); } The STLLoader: public class STLLoader{ public STLLoader(File file) { stlFile = new STLFile(file); loadManager = stlFile.loadManager; pointsArray = new PointsArray(stlFile); texCoordsArray = new TexCoordsArray(); } public float[] getCoords() { return pointsArray.getPoints(); } public float[] getTexCoords() { return texCoordsArray.getTexCoords(); } public int[] getFaces() { return pointsArray.getFaces(); } private STLFile stlFile; private PointsArray pointsArray; private TexCoordsArray texCoordsArray; private FacesArray facesArray; public SimpleBooleanProperty finished = new SimpleBooleanProperty(false); public LoadManager loadManager;} PointsArray file: public class PointsArray { public PointsArray(STLFile stlFile) { this.stlFile = stlFile; initPoints(); } private void initPoints() { ArrayList<Double> pointsList = stlFile.getPoints(); ArrayList<Double> uPointsList = new ArrayList<>(); faces = new int[pointsList.size()*2]; int n = 0; for (Double d : pointsList) { if (uPointsList.indexOf(d) == -1) { uPointsList.add(d); } faces[n] = uPointsList.indexOf(d); faces[++n] = 0; n++; } int i = 0; points = new float[uPointsList.size()]; for (Double d : uPointsList) { points[i] = d.floatValue(); i++; } } public float[] getPoints() { return points; } public int[] getFaces() { return faces; } private float[] points; private int[] faces; private STLFile stlFile; public static boolean DEBUG = true; } And STLFile: ArrayList<Double> coords = new ArrayList<>(); double temp; private void readV(STLParser parser) { for (int n = 0; n < 3; n++) { if(!(parser.ttype==STLParser.TT_WORD && parser.sval.equals("vertex"))) { System.err.println("Format Error:expecting 'vertex' on line " + parser.lineno()); } else { if (parser.getNumber()) { temp = parser.nval; coords.add(temp); if(DEBUG) { System.out.println("Vertex:"); System.out.print("X=" + temp + " "); } if (parser.getNumber()) { temp = parser.nval; coords.add(temp); if(DEBUG) { System.out.print("Y=" + temp + " "); } if (parser.getNumber()) { temp = parser.nval; coords.add(temp); if(DEBUG) { System.out.println("Z=" + temp + " "); } readEOL(parser); } else System.err.println("Format Error: expecting coordinate on line " + parser.lineno()); } else System.err.println("Format Error: expecting coordinate on line " + parser.lineno()); } else System.err.println("Format Error: expecting coordinate on line " + parser.lineno()); } if (n < 2) { try { parser.nextToken(); } catch (IOException e) { System.err.println("IO Error on line " + parser.lineno() + ": " + e.getMessage()); } } } } public ArrayList<Double> getPoints() { return coords; } As a result of all of this code, I expected to get 3d model in MeshView. But the present result is very strange: everything works and in DEBUG mode I get 3d model is ready! from setContent(), and then unexpected ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: File readed Initialization of Mesh's arrays Applying Mesh's arrays Initialization of the material Setting the MeshView Adding to 3D scene 3D model is ready! java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: Array index out of range: 32252 at com.sun.javafx.collections.ObservableFloatArrayImpl.rangeCheck(ObservableFloatArrayImpl.java:276) at com.sun.javafx.collections.ObservableFloatArrayImpl.get(ObservableFloatArrayImpl.java:184) at javafx.scene.shape.TriangleMesh.computeBounds(TriangleMesh.java:262) at javafx.scene.shape.MeshView.impl_computeGeomBounds(MeshView.java:151) at javafx.scene.Node.updateGeomBounds(Node.java:3497) at javafx.scene.Node.getGeomBounds(Node.java:3450) at javafx.scene.Node.getLocalBounds(Node.java:3432) at javafx.scene.Node.updateTxBounds(Node.java:3510) at javafx.scene.Node.getTransformedBounds(Node.java:3350) at javafx.scene.Node.updateBounds(Node.java:516) at javafx.scene.Parent.updateBounds(Parent.java:1668) at javafx.scene.SubScene.updateBounds(SubScene.java:556) at javafx.scene.Parent.updateBounds(Parent.java:1668) at javafx.scene.Parent.updateBounds(Parent.java:1668) at javafx.scene.Parent.updateBounds(Parent.java:1668) at javafx.scene.Parent.updateBounds(Parent.java:1668) at javafx.scene.Parent.updateBounds(Parent.java:1668) at javafx.scene.Scene$ScenePulseListener.pulse(Scene.java:2309) at com.sun.javafx.tk.Toolkit.firePulse(Toolkit.java:329) at com.sun.javafx.tk.quantum.QuantumToolkit.pulse(QuantumToolkit.java:479) at com.sun.javafx.tk.quantum.QuantumToolkit.pulse(QuantumToolkit.java:459) at com.sun.javafx.tk.quantum.QuantumToolkit$13.run(QuantumToolkit.java:326) at com.sun.glass.ui.InvokeLaterDispatcher$Future.run(InvokeLaterDispatcher.java:95) at com.sun.glass.ui.win.WinApplication._runLoop(Native Method) at com.sun.glass.ui.win.WinApplication.access$300(WinApplication.java:39) at com.sun.glass.ui.win.WinApplication$3$1.run(WinApplication.java:101) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:724) Exception in thread "JavaFX Application Thread" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: Array index out of range: 32252 at com.sun.javafx.collections.ObservableFloatArrayImpl.rangeCheck(ObservableFloatArrayImpl.java:276) at com.sun.javafx.collections.ObservableFloatArrayImpl.get(ObservableFloatArrayImpl.java:184) The stranger thing is that this stack doesn't stop until I close the program. And moreover it doesn't point to any my array. What is this? And why does it happen?
