new Facebook Like button for Blogger

I want to add the new facebook like button to my blogger website. http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like I have to pass the url to the blog posts in the iframe src tag. I can get the blogger posts url from <data:post.url/> but I can't put that in a src string because Bloggers template system is weird. I want to do this:<iframe allowTransparency='true' frameborder='0' scrolling='no' src='http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=<data:post.url/>&layout=standard&show-faces=true&width=450&action=like&colorscheme=light' style='border:none; overflow:hidden; width:450px; height:px'/>but blogger complains: "Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly. XML error message: The value of attribute "src" associated with an element type "null" must not contain the '<' character." Anybody have this working yet?

VS2010 express beta2 - no add reference dialog, no open file/project dialogs

Just installed VS2010 express for Windows Phone last night. Install went smoothly. It creates a project, compiles, and deploys the app to the emulator. Here's the problem: When I try to "Add Reference" through the Project menu, I do not get the Add Reference dialog box. Same thing if I right click References in the solution explorer and click Add Reference. That's not all. "File...Open" and "File...Open Project" also fail to throw up an open file dialog box. When attempting any of these actions, the IDE quickly loses and regains focus. Even pressing a keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+O) causes the IDE to quickly lose and regain focus, but no open file dialog box appears. This is what I have tried, not particularly in this order: 1. Turned off UAC 2. Monitored file and registry access using Process Monitor during a File...Open operation. File activity showed mostly "SUCCESS" with a few "FAST IO DISALLOWED" and a few "INVALID DEVICE REQUEST" results. Registry activity showed mostly "SUCCESS" with some "NAME NOT FOUND" and a few "BUFFER OVERFLOW" results. 3. Created a new, clean Windows account to run the IDE from 4. Forced a test project to add a reference to "System.Xml.Linq" by editing the ".csproj" project file. Project failed to load in the IDE. I don't have these problems at all on 2 other Windows 7 computers with VS2010 C# express beta 2 installed. One machine is 32bit and the other 64bit, both Home Premium edition. My system: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit Other Visual Studio products installed: VS2008 C# express, VS2008 C++ express One other thing to note: Several months ago I installed the non-phone distribution of VS2010 C# express beta 2, and I had the same exact problems. Back then I chalked it up to being beta and went back to VS2008 C# express, where I do not have these issues.

Vertically center a fluid image in a fluid container

I certainly do not want to add to the pile of vertical alignments CSS questions, but I've spent hours trying to find a solution to no avail yet. Here's the situation: I am building a slideshow gallery of images. I want the images to be displayed as large as the user's window allows. So I have this outer placeholder: <section class="photo full"> (Yes, I'm using HTML5 elements). Which has the following CSS: section.photo.full { display:inline-block; width:100%; height:100%; position:absolute; overflow:hidden; text-align:center; } Next, the image is placed inside it. Depending on the orientation of the image, I set either the width or height to 75%, and the other axis to auto: $wide = $bigimage['width'] >= $bigimage['height'] ? true: false; ?> <img src="<?= $bigimage['url'] ?>" width="<?= $wide? "75%" : "auto"?>" height="<?= $wide? "auto" : "75%"?>"/> So, we have a fluid outer container, with inside a fluid image. The horizontal centering of the image works, yet I cannot seem to find a way to vertically center the image within it's container. I have researched centering methods but most assume either the container or image has a known width or height. Then there is the display:table-cell method, which does not seem to work for me either. I'm stuck. I'm looking for a CSS solution, but am open to js solutions too.

Facebook Like Box not working

Hello. I'm trying to integrate a Like box in my website. Resize view on iPhone when rotating

I have an application with many views. I want only a couple of the views to be able to rotate to landscape when the device is rotated. I found out that I couldn't use (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation because that would rotate every view in my app. I found a solution to this problem here on Stack Overflow but now I have another issue to deal with. The view rotates when I turn the device but it still shows the view as if it were still in portrait mode (straight up and down). The top and bottom of the view is cut off. Is there a way to have the view rotate and also adjust its size to fit the new orientation? I also found this but wasn't able to get it to work. Grails UrlMappings with .html

I'm developing a Grails web application (mainly as a learning exercise). I have previously written some standard Grails apps, but in this case I wanted to try creating a controller that would intercept all requests (including static html) of the form: <a href="/testApp/testJsp.jsp">test 1</a> <a href="/testApp/testGsp.gsp">test 2</a> <a href="/testApp/testHtm.htm">test 3</a> <a href="/testApp/testHtml.html">test 4</a> The intent is to do some simple business logic (auditing) each time a user clicks a link. I know I could do this using a Filter (or a range of other methods), however I thought this should work too and wanted to do this using a Grails framework. I set up the Grail UrlMappings.groovy file to map all URLs of that form (/$myPathParam?) to a single controller: class UrlMappings { static mappings = { "/$controller/$action?/$id?"{ constraints { } } "/$path?" (controller: 'auditRecord', action: 'showPage') "500"(view:'/error') } } In that controller (in the appropriate "showPage" action) I've been printing out the path information, for example: def showPage = { println "params.path = " + params.path ... render(view: resultingView) } The results of the println in the showPage action for each of my four links are testJsp.jsp testGsp.gsp testHtm.htm testHtml Why is the last one "testHtml", not "testHtml.html"? In a previous (Stack Overflow query) Olexandr encountered this issue and was advised to simply concatenate the value of request.format - which, indeed, does return "html". However request.format also returns "html" for all four links. I'm interested in gaining an understanding of what Grails is doing and why. Is there some way to configure Grails so the params.path variable in the controller shows "testHtml.html" rather than stripping off the "html" extension? It doesn't seem to remove the extension for any other file type (including .htm). Is there a good reason it's doing this? I know that it is a bit unusual to use a controller for static html, but still would like to understand what's going on.

CSS: Making two transparent images overlapping

Hi all, I'm trying to make two transparent images (having the same size/dimension ) overlapping into a div at their top left corner. CSS Design question, I've got myself completely turned around.

Okay, I have a couple of other questions out there, but I think I'd better just ask from the beginning how you CSS experts would do this. Client's page is split into 2 rows -- header has some info, some aligned to left of page, some to right, some in the middle. This is currently done using a table. I'm fine with leaving this alone or changing it. My real question is that I need a page layout to handle the following: 2 columns - column on left is 200px, but can be "close" down to to 10px (not a slider, it's either 200 or 10 px). The column on the right needs to be as big as it needs to be -- which might be larger than the width of the page. When left column is "closed" then the right column slides over of course. Again, this right column might be 300px or it might be 4000 pixels (it's a reporting interface). Now, to add another wrinkle, SOME pages have 3 columns. The first 2 columns are each exactly 200px, and both can be "closed" down to 10 px each. But, the user may not close both columns, maybe just 1. Or none. Or both. The third column needs to act just like I described above, being able to be larger than the page width, and sliding over to take advantage of any of the "closed" left columns. Whew! I'm pretty confused as to how to go about this, as either I get it right but I can't scroll over to the right at all (overflow: hidden) and information is lost, or the right column jumps down below the left 2 columns and just looks plain stupid. My minimum browser requirements are IE8, FF3.5, Chrome and Safari (latest versions of all). Any and all pointers are gladly accepted.

Position Div using Javascript on page refresh

Hi all I have a div that I would like to reposition each time the page is refreshed. It is currently set in the css using top and left. I wold like to pass the top and left values on page refresh. #inneriframe { position:absolute; top:-170px; left:-5px; width:1280px; height:1200px; } The content is from another site and contained in an iframe and I want the viewport of the div to change(within certain limits) each time the page is refreshed. I made this game, Forest Defender, a proof-of-feasibility little project, which I would like to share with you and collect your constructive comments, first impressions, etc. It is a the first playable (and enjoyable) game I have released to the public, so I am, naturally, very eager to get some recognition by you, as my peers. I read in a StackOverflow blog, that One of the major reasons we created Stack Overflow to give every programmer a chance to be recognized by their peers. Recognized for their knowledge, their passion, [...] It comes in the form of a Java applet, I used an animation framework called PulpCore and I must say that it's been extremely enjoyable to work with it. I do recommend to people interested in Java game development. Since the product is free, fun, entirely commercial-free and I am willing to share the code to it (on request), I thought it would be OK to post this as a topic here. Long text input from user and PDF generation

I have built a web application that can be seen as an overcomplicated application form. There are bunch of text areas with a given character limit. After the form submission various things happen and one of them is PDF generation. The text is queried from the DB and inserted in the PDF template created in iReports. This works fine but the major pain is overflowing text. The maximum number of characters is set based on 'average' text. But sometimes people prefer to write with CAPS or add plenty of linefeeds to format their text. These then cause user's text to overflow the space given in PDF. Unfortunately the PDF document must look like a real application form so I cannot allow unlimited space. What kind of approaches you have used to tackle this? Clean/restrict user input? Calculate the space requirement of the text based on font metrics? Provide preview of the PDF? (too bad users are not allowed to change their input after submission...)

How do i pass arbitary date format from C# to sql backend

I have a datetime field for the transaction date in the back end. So I am passing that date from front C#.net, in the below format: 2011-01-01 12:17:51.967 to do this I have written: presentation layer: string date = DateTime.Now.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss.fff", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture); PropertyClass prp=new PropertyClass(); Prp.TransDate=Convert.ToDateTime(date); PropertyClass structure: Public class property { private DateTime transdate; public DateTime TransDate { get { return transdate; } set { transdate = value; } } } From DAL layer passing the TransactionDate like this: Cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@TranSactionDate”, SqlDbType.DateTime).value=propertyobj.TransDate; While debugging from presntation layer: string date = DateTime.Now.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss.fff", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture); in this I am getting correct expected date format, but when debugs goes to this line Prp.TransDate=Convert.ToDateTime(date); again date format changing to 1/1/2011. But my backend sql datefield wants the date paramter 2011-01-01 12:17:51.967 in this format otherwise throwing exception invalid date format. Note: While passing date as string without converting to datetime getting exceptions like: System.Data.SqlTypes.SqlTypeException: SqlDateTime overflow. Porting WebGL game to iPhone's native OpenGL?

We are developing a web game that uses WebGL for the two biggest parts of it. Working with HTML / CSS was too slow and too limited, so it's off the table. Thing is, iOS does not support WebGL publicly just yet, only on iAd. It is my guess Apple will eventually support it once the security issues they and Microsoft claim it has are fixed, and looks stable enough. Problem is, if Apple does not do this by the release of the next mayor iOS version, then we will have in our hands a mobile WebGL game that does not run. 6 months of development and testing to waste. So, questions: If that was the case, how viable (regarding amount of time) is it porting the WebGL part of the game to native iPhone OpenGL? I'm afraid that porting will take longer than the development of the game itself. I saw posts on Stack Overflow (like this) that suggested, on Android, adding the OpenGL interface manually to a WebKit element. It'd be slower than native. But either way... Is this something that could be accepted in the AppStore? Apple is very restrictive with these kind of stuff... Thank you all for your time!

qTip jQuery Plugin not always Firing

Hi, I am using the qTip jquery plugin qTip plugin for a website I'm working on based on another thread I raised here: stack overflow thread My question is, I have a navigation bar running along the top of my screen which is basically sets the title attribute based on the tab menu you are in, these are all stored within a javascript array. For example, I have three menu options running along the top of the screen, say Menu A, Menu B and Menu C. I also have an information image positioned at the rightmost position of the nav bar, which I set the title attribute, based on the Menu option selected in the Nav Bar. For example: Menu A => myRole[0] = "Admin" Menu B => myRole[1] = "Manager" Menu C => myRole[2] = "Guest" So basically as the user clicks on each of the menus in the nav bar, I set the title attribute in the information image to either "Admin","Manager" or "Guest". At startup, the qTip plugin works and displays "Admin" when I hover over it but when I change the menu to Menu C, it still displays "Admin" instead of "Guest" From the looks of it, it doesn't seem to be calling the qTip plugin, which I have positioned at the footer of the screen (see actual code below). Problem with using malloc in link lists (urgent ! help please)

I've been working on this program for five months now. Its a real time application of a sensor network. I create several link lists during the life of the program and Im using malloc for creating a new node in the link. What happens is that the program suddenly stops or goes crazy and restarts. Im using AVR and the microcontroller is ATMEGA 1281. After a lot of debugging I figured out that that the malloc is causing the problem. I do not free the memory after exiting the function that creates a new link so Im guessing that this is eventually causing the heap memory to overflow or something like that. Now if I use the free() function to deallocate the memory at the end of the function using malloc, the program just gets stuck when the control reaches free(). Is this because the memory becomes too clustered after calling free() ? I also create reference tables for example if 'head' is a new link list and I create another list called current and make it equal to head. table *head; table *current = head; After the end of the function if I use free free(current); current = NULL: Then the program gets stuck here. I dont know what to do. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to increase the size of the heap memory Please help...

Custom Alignment and Backgrounds Through Greasemonkey

I'm trying to implement something in greasemonkey and it is giving me a fair bit of trouble as I can't get it to work. I frequently use Wolfram Alpha (http://wolframalpha.com) for a lot of things. They have recently updated the home page with a new style. There are settings that you can edit on this page (http://www.wolframalpha.com/homesettings.html) As you would expect when you clear cookies you loose these settings. What I would like to do is have a greasemonky script that sets the background to what ever I like (which will stay also regardless of the state of your cookies). It would also be cool if this background was displayed the whole way through Wolfram Alpha (ie when you make queries too eg. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=stack+overflow ) The other thing I'm trying to implement but I'm struggling is to force the results pages to be left aligned so that the browser window can be smaller. If anyone could help me with this it would be appreciated, I have tried to do it my self but I'm unsure how to get it to work.

Quite ok, but it must be more advanced, we should catch an offset and give a class to .over block: if offset from right (corner of browser window) less than 150px, then add class "right" for a .over block. if offset from right more than 150px - add class "left" for a .over block. How can we do it?

Lazy Sequences that "Look Ahead" for Project Euler Problem 14

I'm trying to solve Project Euler Problem 14 in a lazy way. Unfortunately, I may be trying to do the impossible: create a lazy sequence that is both lazy, yet also somehow 'looks ahead' for values it hasn't computed yet. The non-lazy version I wrote to test correctness was: (defn chain-length [num] (loop [len 1 n num] (cond (= n 1) len (odd? n) (recur (inc len) (+ 1 (* 3 n))) true (recur (inc len) (/ n 2))))) Which works, but is really slow. Of course I could memoize that: (def memoized-chain (memoize (fn [n] (cond (= n 1) 1 (odd? n) (+ 1 (memoized-chain (+ 1 (* 3 n)))) true (+ 1 (memoized-chain (/ n 2))))))) However, what I really wanted to do was scratch my itch for understanding the limits of lazy sequences, and write a function like this: (def lazy-chain (letfn [(chain [n] (lazy-seq (cons (if (odd? n) (+ 1 (nth lazy-chain (dec (+ 1 (* 3 n))))) (+ 1 (nth lazy-chain (dec (/ n 2))))) (chain (+ n 1)))))] (chain 1))) Pulling elements from this will cause a stack overflow for n2, which is understandable if you think about why it needs to look 'into the future' at n=3 to know the value of the tenth element in the lazy list because (+ 1 (* 3 n)) = 10. Since lazy lists have much less overhead than memoization, I would like to know if this kind of thing is possible somehow via even more delayed evaluation or queuing?

Is there a way to trace through only project source in Delphi?

I'm using Delphi 2010 and I'm wondering if there's a way to trace through code which is in the project without tracing through calls to included VCLs. For example - you put in a breakpoint and then use Shift+F7 to trace through line-by-line. Now you run into a call to some lengthy procedure in a VCL - in my case it's often a Measurement Studio or other component that draws the doodads for a bunch of I/O, OPC, or other bits. At any rate, what happens is that the debugger hops out of the active source file, opens the component source, and traces through that line by line. Often this is hundreds or thousands of lines of code I don't care about - I just want to have it execute and return to the next source line in MY project. Obviously you can do this by setting breakpoints around every instance of an external call, but often there are too many to make this practical - I'd be spending an hour setting a hundred breakpoints every time I wanted to step through a section of code. Is there a setting or a tool somewhere that can do this? Allow one to trace through code within the project while silently executing code which is external to the project?
